Adding colors to palette

I have got around Pages well so far but I cannot work out how to save colours to the tabs under the palettes in the small boxes. If I was working in a specific yellow for example how do I save that colour in one of the little squares under the palettes?
One more question, is the Pantone colour palette supported in Pages.

There's another trick I just figured out because I too wanted to get Pantone color swatches into Pages. This is a more permanent way of keeping your colors (but it's also a bit tedious!).
1. Using Photoshop, Illustrator, or some other program that supports Pantone color, make a document with the Pantone colors that you want to use. (Just make a bunch of shapes, each filled with a different color--be sure to label the colors.)
2. Drop that "Color Sampler" graphic into a Pages document.
3. Open up the Colors inspector and select the "Color Palette" icon (3rd from the left) > Where is says "List" select "New" from the dialog box.
4. Using the magnifying glass select one of the colors in your document--it should appear in the rectangular box in the Colors inspector.
5. Select "New" from the dialog box next to the Search window in the inspector and the color should show up (named "Untitled") in the blank space > Select "Rename" in the Color dialog box > Type in the Pantone name/number.
6. Once you've got all your colors in the collection, you can rename the collection using the "List" dialog box.
I hope this helps!

  • Color Swatch Palette is Stuck

I am a designer working for a printer. We have a customer who is trying to add a new color to her CS4 document. She is selecting New Color Swatch - Spot - Pantone Solid Coated but is getting Process Coated DS colors -- the palette is stuck. Any suggestions? When she sent the document to me I didn't have any problems with the swatch palette.
    Thanks for any help.

    from the help files:
Restore all preferences and default settings
When InDesign is behaving erratically, deleting preferences (also referred to as “trashing preferences” or “removing preferences”) often solves the problem.
    Do one of the following:
(Windows) Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
(Mac OS) While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.

  • Adding Color to Black & White Photo

I have PE 9 and I know how to change a photo from Color to Black and White.  I am having trouble adding color back to the photo...Could someone please help me selectively add color to my now black and white photo.
    Thanks in advance.

    That's the easiest.
    Open your full colour image.
Choose the Smart Brush tool I showed in my previous post.
On the Options bar for the tool,
    hit the dropdown arrow (1).
Hit the effects dropdown box and choose "Black and White" (2).
    Select "Grayscale" (3).
Set your brush to a small size.
Paint over the areas you want to be in Black & White.  The brush automatically selects entire areas as you paint.
If it goes too far, set the brush to "minus"
and paint over the excess area to return it to the original colour.
The automatic selection kind of "learns" what you want, so by going back and forth between "plus" and "minus", you'll ultimately get what you want.

  • Adding Color to Black & White Photos

Does CS6 have new tools &/or procedures for photo retouch particularly
adding color effects to B/W photos?

    The short answer is maybe!
There is no magic button you can press to add colour to a B&W image. You can however, remove all but selected colours from a colour image and achieve (for example) a B&W portrait of a lady holding a red rose. You can also have green leaves with just a couple of extra steps too.

  • Adding color for path

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS 5.
While doing a cutout using the Pen tool, I'm finding it difficult to follow the path, as the path line is too thin, does CS 5 gives any option of adding color to the path so that we can track as we use the Pen tool.
    Thanks

Whenever I have to manually trace vector paths on top of something using the pen tool I'll often work on a dummy image converted to grayscale and then to a duotone.
The idea behind this is making the blacks in the guide image not black at all. I'll make a grayscale scan of something like hand drawn letters or something else I sketched. I go to Image>Mode>Duotone. I'll choose "Custom" on the preset menu and "Monotone" for the number of inks. Just click on the ink color and choose some sort of medium, colored value. I like to trace paths over an earthy orange color. Name the ink color some kind of nonsense like "pookie" or whatever. It doesn't matter.
Your pen tool paths will show up very easily over this kind of artwork.
Duotone images typically must be saved in Photoshop format. If you want to work on the image elsewhere, you can simply convert it to RGB or CMYK by going to the Image>Mode flyout menu. Then you can save the dummy image as a TIFF or JPEG. Or you can even paste it as a layer to show/hide in your primary Photoshop layout. This recipe may sound a little complicated but it's really very easy.

  • Adding colors to swatches palette

I have found the unnamed colrs which are in the indesign documentt but i i can't able to add the unnamed colors to the swatches pallete.. is there any option to add the unnamed colrs to the swatche palette using javascript? Kindly Reply me

I'll try again with a little more detail.
I am being given EMF files. They need to be converted to AI files, the file converted from RGB to CMYK, colors edited to be Pantone match, saved in 4 formats... AI, EPS, PNG and GIF. And I need to do this via Applescript as there are too many to sit and do one by one.
Problem: The colors in the EMF file do not come into the AI file's palette. I can't change the colors until they are in the palette. I can not sit and manage (open and edit) each file.... therefore I was at a standstill.
Solution: Create an action and build out a do script.... Didn't realize this could be integrated in the workflow.... I am all set now, but hopefully you understand where I was going with it.

  • Adding color groups to color swatch palette?

does anyone know if a plugin exists for ID3 that will let you create color groups (like paragraph and character style sheets).
    thanks!

I don't know of a plugin; but if all you're trying to do is keep a group of colors that you can load/reload together, why not keep them in a Library item?

  • How to Create a Custom Color Chooser/Palette with 16 or 24bit Color Support

    Hi All,
I need some help on how to create a color palette/chooser with 16 bit or 24 bit color options available
    First setting up the context:
I am developing an application which allows designing some GUI screens by adding various controls.
Now these GUI Screens developed are compiled and downloaded into a series of display devices with each device having a different color support (For e.g. 256 colors, 16 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit).
Now according to the selected device i would need to provide the "Color Chooser" with only those colors that are supported by the device. SO I need to design a Color Palette(s)/Chooser(s) with 16 bit, 24 bit or 32 bit color options
Could anyone help me out on how to create such palette? A piece of sample code would be a great help
    Best Regards

It is not that simple... reason I almost never use those old captions anymore but replaced them by shapes (much easier to format).
Have a look at the available captions: for each caption you'll need a bmp and a fcm file, and follow naming conventions. See:

  • Setting chart colors in palette.cxml

I've modified the chart colors in two palette.xml files:
    /OracleBI/web/app/res/s_PeerApp/chartsupport
    /home/padmin/OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/analytics/analytics/res/s_PeerApp/chartsupport
Not working well at all – for both new and old charts, for any type (bars, line, pie) – sometimes display the new colors and sometimes the old ones. When I see the new colors and refresh the page, it sometimes return to defaults.
    Any ideas?

In keynote you have a slide with a chart in it. I will use a bar chart for this example. Now that you have the slide with the chart you want to edit the colors of open, click on the "Colors" button at the top right of the Keynote window. Click on the wheel Until the box above the wheel displays the color you desire. Once you have that color chosen, click in that color box and drag it to the bar you want to have that color in your chart. Tada! You have now changed the color. I am on my iPhone or would have done some screen shots for you.
    Enjoy!

  • Adding a VGA palette monitor

I had hoped to figure this out without pestering anyone, but I just got confused.
I have a Dual 2 G5(8-dimm) with a Radeon 9600xt and an aluminum studio 20' display. I believe I have a second display port that is DVI (?) and not ADC (did they come with two diff? Is the 20" an ADC?) I guess I could shut own and look, but at least I think the open one is DVI.
I want to add a 15" Dell VGA flatscreen that I got free, basically, for use as a palette monitor with Photoshop. Any idea if I can get away with a connector, or do I need a cable, and any idea off the top of your head what else I need to know? Thank you so much. I tried, I really did...
    x

I see that ADC to VGA is hit and miss trying to find (50$ on eBay).
Since the ADC is no longer manufactured, the ADC to VGA adapter has become very rare snd expensive. $50.00 is a bargain. The last one I saw was over $130.00.
Should I get an ADC to DVI connector for my 20" and a DVI to VGA for the pallette monitor?
That will work. ADC to DVI adapters are not as hard to get (yet).
    <http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000067T08/ref=dpolp2>
Note: you can't use an ADC to DVI adapter followed by a DVI to VGA, since the ADC to DVI adapter doesn't pass the analog video signals needed for VGA.
Or is the ADC to DVI connector going to degrade the image on the 20" Apple monitor, thereby undercutting the whole point of having a good monitor for color work?
The adapters are just sending the signals to pins in a different connector. They will not affect the image quality.

  • Adding color to an object in a black and white photo

Can someone please help? I just bought Aperture and I was wondering if it is possible to add color to an object in a black and white photo? or keep an object in color and turn the rest of the picture into black and white?
    Thanks

    Hi
I am 90% sure this cannot be specifically done in Aperture as it can in Photoshop.
I assume you mean adding spot colour to a B&W photograph.
You can choose an external editor such as Photoshop, if you have it, create the effect, and re-import the image back into Aperture.
There are some powerful colour controls for selectively improving colour in a photo within Aperture. Whereby you can make a particular colour stand out more by selectively adjusting the red, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow colour's. These are accessed via the colour controls in the adjustments inspector.
You can create B&W images with two tones (of your choice) by using the Monochrome mixer ( in the adjustments panel )
Or you can create colour monochrome effects by using the colour monochrome effects slider ( in the adjustments panel, where you see a + sign with a downward pointing arrow ) click the arrow and select "colour monochrome" from the menu, it will appear at the bottom of the adjustments panel.
Give some of these a go..... play around with it, you can get some stunning result's..........
    Hope this helps some.......

  • Pie Chart - Adding Colors

I have created what should be a simple pie chart, with 8 pieces to the pie. I chose the following options for my chart: "Chart Colors, 3D Texture Fills, Fun." Unfortunately, only 6 colors are showing up. I have tried every way I can think of to add colors and have been able to physically change colors on the chart - but not with "Texture Fills."
Any help out there for this?
    Thanks,
    rlbier

True the Chart color option only offers 6 colors however you can set colors using the color palette.
    Open the color selector:
    +Menu > View Show Colors > select a color sample > drag onto a wedge+
    Repeat for all the wedges.
You will have to redo all this if you change the chart type, so leave till last after you have sorted out the overall appearance.

  • Default Color/pattern Palettes in CS 3

In CS 2 and previous version, you could replace the default RBG or CYMK palettes to get a customized color and pattern pallet that comes up each time a new document is opened... I can't find those default files in CS 3? Have they moved or is there another way to accomplish the same thing in the newer version?

  • Adding color to placed image

In InDesign CS3, I'm placing Photoshop grayscale and bitmap images (logos) that I want all to be a certain cmyk color. I don't see any provision to do so in the Swatches palette. What tool can do this? Thank you.

ID will recognize a clipping path in a .psd, as well as an alpha channel and transparent layers. Using the native file allows you to use layer comps in ID as well as turn layers on or off inidvidually so one file can be used in multiple ways, and you save space since you don't need both the native and eps versions. There can be other issues at output with eps, like generation of plates you don't expect, since ID cannot manipulate the file in the same way it can deal with the native formats (no print to composite gray, for example, on a color eps). If working in Photoshop and you also need vector informatyion inthe file, save as Photoshop PDF rather than .psd (and change the extension to .pdp so ID knows to edit original in Photoshop), and place that in ID to preserve the vector content.

  • Adding color to a picture frame

I am brand new to Macs, and I have been checking out iworks. I am working on a blank page layout. I have added text boxes, and a photo from my gallery. I want to frame the photo, and have figured out how, using the inspector. What I can't figure out how to do is how to add color to the frame. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Farmer Matt
    Welcome to the forum.
fruhulda has shown how to change the color of simple strokes, however there are some frames you can not color change. Only "line" strokes can be changed, pdf files, jpegs, Photoshop and Pages' Picture Frames can not be changed.
Check whether the frame/stroke you have in your file is a graphic or not by selecting it:
    +Inspector > Metrics > File Info+
