Adding dimension labes for "Pages" in simple dataform

is it possible, or labels only allowed for dimensions in composite forms?

Currently I don't think you can.
Cheers

Change SEQUENCE = "213" to SEQUENCE = "218" in the Task ID Field component. That will solve the issue.

  • Oracle Open World Hands on lab for Google Map like spatial demo

    Hi,
I have participated in the hand on lab for Oracle Spatial + Map Viewer + Ajax + APEX. It was said there that the demo will be soon dowloadable from OTN. Is it know when will this happen?
    TIA,

Are you using the latest production 10.1.3.1 MapViewer? which browser are you using? Can you open the page in FireFox and post any error messages from its JavaScript console? without these info it's hard to know what might have gone wrong. The JavaScript console is found under FireFox's menu Tools -> JavaScript console (or Error console in the latest version). You may need to clear it first before opening your application.
For instance, it might be due to some typo when you are adding/defining the search tool bar on top of the map. More specifically, the "go" and "clear" buttons invoke javaScript functions defined in p1.js. if you make a typo when creating these buttons the JavaScript function may not be called at all which means you won't be able to draw the search area on the map. not saying this is the cause, but it is one of many things that could go wrong, and without any meaningful error messages we have no way to help you.

    Rajesh,
Could you provide some more details about your code? I will try to look into possible causes of the error. One thing you may try is subscribing to the Knowledge Exchange on http://portalcenter.oracle.com. Then you could post your code in your community folder and everyone would be able to test it out.
Of course, this means you must be willing to share your code with everyone.

  • HUGE file size for Pages (iWork '06) documents

I'm in the process of evaluating Pages in the hopes of dumping the last of my Microsoft programs (ie, Word.) I'm impressed with the ease of use; especially when it comes to being a little creative.
My great concern is the file size. I created a Pages document of 6 pages. It had text, images and tables. This relatively small document is a whopping 17.7MB. When I export this document to a Word doc and open it, it looks identical. The file size of the Word doc is only 1.4 MB. A HUGE difference. Is this a known issue or is there some sort of compression setting I'm missing?
I typically work with large docs and I don't want Pages files hogging all of my drive space.

The package shows image1.tif, which I added on the
first page. There's also an image1_filtered-9.tiff
which is HUGE. It's about 3MB larger than the
original file. It looks like Pages possibly makes a
copy of an image when you apply an effect like a drop
    shadow?
So if you don't want huge files, I guess you have to
stay away from the image effects...which is actually
    what made Pages interesting.
It is the adjustment tool which is causing the ballooning of your files.
If you use the levels adjustement, you will end up with an image which is labelled ~levelled.tiff. If you use the various other parts of the adjustment screen you will get files which are labelled ~-filtered.tiff, with or without version numbers.
There is no optimization of the various files as they are saved, and no user control over their generation. It would be much nicer if the adjustments weere done on the fly, or at least if a size-specific thumbnail were made for on-screen representation.
For now, however, if you are concerned with the size of your files in pages (and keynote, since it also happens there) then do the adjustments elsewhere. I suggest iPhoto, if that is where you have stored your items. You can always make your placed photo an image placeholder and replace it with alternative adjustments later.
(I tested this with a 4k file made for Livejournal, saved as a jpg. The resultant filtered and levelled tiffs were 40k. A considerable increase.)

  • Fonts for Pages

My wife is wondering if there is any more fonts, Windows type, for "Pages"? She is only using 67 Windows True-Type. She's worried about compatibility in e-mails, attachments, with our friends who are all Windows/PC users.

The great thing about this was that Apple licensed to Microsoft the TrueType technology that rescued PCs from type that looked totally and utter cr@p both onscreen and in print. In return Microsoft never delivered on their promise of a TruePrint technology. There must be high-fives all round at Microsoft every time they sucker Apple.
Like most matters in life, it's not so simple, sorry.
Bas, the scalable spline technology, was developed by Sampo Kaasila who in 1983 graduated top of his class from Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm, that is, from the Royal Polytechnic. Kaasila then went to work for Imagen Corporation in the US, and then from August 1987 to August 1989 for Apple on the spline programming language. Kaasila also developed what came to be known as the TrueType Variations technology. Kaasila is now R&D Director for Bitstream.
Royal, the internationalisation logic, was developed by two of the contributors acknowledged in the Unicode Proposal of 1988, David Opstad and Eric Mader. Opstad now works for Monotype and Mader for IBM on ICU International Components for Unicode, that is, on the internationalisation element of what once was Taligent. TrueType Specification version 1.0 was published in parallel with the Adobe Type 1 Specification, that is, in mid-1990.
TrueType 1.0 for simple obligatory shaping with the CMAP Character Map was implemented for Microsoft Windows 3.1 by Gregory Hitchcock. The intention was that Microsoft TrueImage would compete with Adobe PostScript and Apple TrueType would compete with Adobe Type 1 (and Agfa/HP Intellifont, Sun F3 Folio, Bitstream/HP Speedo and Fontware i.e. any and all so-called simple character-coded composition models).
With the Apple TrueType Specification and the Adobe Type 1 Specification going open and going public, Linotype which had partnered with Adobe and Apple in late 1984 saw the writing on the wall announced at DRUPA Druck und Papier in Düsseldorf that its leading composition products would be merged with the leading H e l l separation products to form the world's largest and most powerful prepress platform for imagesetting type matter and tone matter.
At FOGRA Forschungsgesellschaft Druck und Medien in München in April 1992, Adobe showed Carousel (later Acrobat) and it was announced that at that point the number of PostScript font program dictionaries available as Adobe Type 1 stood at 12,000 (twelve thousand). Following the publication of the PostScript Language Reference, Second Edition, in December 1990, Microsoft announced to Seybold in 1991 that TrueImage would not stay compatible with PostScript since PostScript did not have a colour architecture that supported the screen (a CSA > CRD transform is not invertible from CRC > CSA so it is possible to preview the printable colour appearance on the screen).
The deal between IBM and Microsoft on OS/2 and its Presentation Foundation fell through at the same time. In the grab bag OS/2 table of the TrueType Specification a sub-tag, the FSTYPE function, was introduced in order to support editable embedding of the font file in the file format of authoring applications including Microsoft Word. In technical terms, this approach preserved the source character string and the simple obligatory shaping of the CMAP Character Map so that style of face, size of face, justification, hyphenation and tabulation was WYSIWYG and at the same time editable since the font file travelled inside the Microsoft Word document.
Adobe went another way, arguing that if all professional production was by way of PostScript, then first capturing professional production in PostScript and then converting PostScript which is a page-dependent sequential access page description model into a page-independent random access page description model that permits pages to the accessed in any order the way the pages of a printed book are accessed in any order was the way ahead. The problem with it was that Adobe began by corrupting the source character string and then had to fall back to synthesising the source character string from cross-font glyph identifiers, whether the Adobe Glyph List or the Association for Font Information Interchange name list.
In mid-1993, Adobe published Acrobat 1.0 without search and Apple started seeding QuickDraw GX which included Apple Portable Digital Document technology. The International Color Consortium was formed in 1993, but the the transformation technology was somewhat simplistic in that it assumed that a print device was luminous linear in XYZ and that matrix-based transforms would suffice. The objections to this lead to the introduction of LUT Look-up Tables for print devices alongside matrix transforms for more linear devices such as monitors. The ICC archicture, unlike the PostScript architecture, was invertible and bidirectional from the start in order to support repurposing requirements including proofing.
In May 1994, Adobe acquired Aldus and thus blocked the QuickDraw GX graphics architecture that competed with PostScript. Aldus and Linotype-**** had already formed the Font Consortium to try to pressure Apple to make TrueType 2 cross-platform, but seeing the success Microsoft had with TrueType 1 and Microsoft applications that supported as well the source character string as WYSIWYG, Apple did not want to licence TrueType 2 whereas the file format of ColorSync 2 became the foundation of the International Color Consortium because Prof Dr Gerald Murch who headed the talks was convinced that Apple would never sell a single operating system on the argument that it was CIE managed from the ground up.
On the world wide web you can find posts in developer discussions where David Opstad says that in his view Apple should not licence TrueType 2 in order to preserve the advantage for Apple. The ColorSync 2 file format did survive to be succesful, but the TrueType 2 file format hitherto has lingered with John Jenkins posting that Apple internally does not have high regard for the rival extension tables termed OpenType, but on the other hand it is plain to see that Apple has done an truly terrible job of evangelising its internationalisation models, let alone supporting them in Apple system software and Apple application software.
In 1994, Dr Timothy Berners-Lee succeeded in setting up the World Wide Web Consortium and CEO's had to change perspective. I seem to remember William Gates as well as Dr John Warnock changing perspective at that point. But by then the starting point was unequal as in abstract archival space the condition is that you identify digital documents by their content of character information, and here Adobe's strategy that started by destroying the source character string was technically harakiri. So, now we have the problem of unknown amounts of viral type and unknown amounts of PDF that preserves the appearance but not the content.
In 2005, Microsoft made it clear that Adobe Type 1 would not be supported under the Presentation Foundation of Microsoft Windows Vista and in 2006 Microsoft left the International Color Consortium, of which it was a co-founder. The disagreement was over the ColorSync 2/ICC model which defines determinate, runtime-independent rendering for colour-colourant transforms, which incidentally is the same mould as the TrueType 2 model for determinate, runtime-independent rendering. The main opponent of this development model has been Adobe, by the bye.
This is a short summary, based on public posts with the people involved as well as private talks.
In 2005, Adobe had Pamella Pfiffner write a twentieth anniversary book on the Publishing Revolution, but the book is a celebration of Adobe's business model and not a discussion of Adobe's drawing models for composition, drawing models for separation, and document models for pagination.

  • Pages & AppleScript - adding content and new pages

I build iOS apps for a living and I am taking a stab at making a developer's guide for each app I create (classes and methods used, some terminology, etc.). I'm able to get a list of all my class files and methods of each class from XCode using AppleScript. What I would like to do now is bring them into a Pages document and add some styling to the text. I can get Pages to make a new document from a template but I can't seem to do anything after that - adding a page or text to the template - the template is one page with some styles and a text box placed on page 1. Here's my code for Pages:
    tell application "Pages"
       make new document with properties {template name:"DeveloperGuide"}
       tell front document
           set bodyText to body text
           return bodyText
       end tell
    end tell
It's been a while since I've used AppleScript and I've never scripted pages so I'm not sure if this is the right approach. It's nice to see that after two years the notoriously ill documented AppleScript dictionaries still exist. Anyway, my return from the code above is "missing value".
    Any help would be appreciated.

Are you aware there are two types of templates in Pages? Word processing and pages layout?

  • Clip Art for Pages?

This there "Clip Art" in Pages like there is in MS Word? I would like to put some Christmas Clip Art in some documents that I will be creating. I would like for them to be high resolution so they look good when I print them on high quality paper.
Is there a library of clip art in Pages for me to use?
    Kevin Hawkins

Well, yes and no. There is no formal set of clipart for Pages, but I did do a rather large set of themes for Keynote a while back, and many of the elements were graphic image files which work well with Pages.
It was called the twelve Themes of Christmas, included numerous religious images (some unique images of unglazed nativity figures) and velvet themes (complete with gold cords)
Then there was the Gingerbread theme, complete with numerous candy graphics (including Cookies! And several styles of hard candy)
A few of the other themes were simpler, but the most complex was the Wrapping theme, including riibbons, bows, several styles of wrapping paper and such.
All the themes came with special corners, tops, bottoms and sides that would fit seamlessly for slide-slide transitions (box, slide, etc) All of them work rather well in Pages (they are sized for 1024x768 slides) and are 'good enough' for most projects (the corners could be used with the various pieces to create longer items)
I took them off the market due to the size (300M altogether) and a family emergency that turned up. Since then I have directed most of my energies to Pages.
Would they be appropriate for your uses? I'm unsure of how much interest there would be for such a heavy download.

  • Why Do Pages Headers Go Away on a Two Page Document When I select No Header for Page One

MacBook Pro 15 Retina, Mid 2014 Chassis, Yosemite 10.10
In the PAGES application.  I am writing a simple business letter I copied from a prior letter.  The letter is two pages long.  I add a header in the second page and it appears on the first page as well.  I correct the problem, and unselect the box that indicates I want the same header on all pages.  The header goes away on page one and on page two.
I cannot access a header for page two.  It is as gone as gone can be.
I assume there is at least some amount of QA on this stuff, or do the customers do all of that?

    Hello Peter,
    Thanks for the reply.
I want to make sure I understand.
So I want to write a simple business letter, say to you.  All standard settings, profile for a business letter.
I write the first page, and I happen to go one paragraph into the second page.  At the upper right hand corner of the second page I "mouse over" the header, select the right side box, and enter To Peter, Page Two.  Then I navigate to Document Inspector, under headers and footers, I select "Hide on First Page of Section."  But that is not right?  Because it doesn't solve my problem?
Just to make sure I understand, even though I am in the second page of the section, selecting the option will make the page headers go away for page one and page two?  Forgive me I appreciate your help and am not blaming you.  Apple expects me to not only go through the search to find this setting as it does not default, but Apple also wants me to create a second section for the second page, and then enter the header, then navigate to Documents Inspector and then select "Hide on First Page of Section?"
By the time I go through all of that, then save and print the two business pages, I then create an envelope in a new Pages document.  Give it a name, enter your address, and then print, and save the envelope.
    Thanks again Peter.
Does anyone else think that seems like a lot of extra work to get a two page, simple business letter, into the post?
    Cheers,
    Ken

  • Adding keyboard shortcuts for duplicate menu names

I wanted to make a shortcut for the "Use Default" menu item under Format/Fonts/Baseline in Pages. To do that i fired up system preferences and added a new shortcut for Pages and typed in "Use Default" as the name. Unfortunately there is a second menu item called "Use Default" under "Ligature", which gets teh shortcut since it comes first in the menu list.
Is there a way to add a shortcut to a specific submenu subitem, so i can force the shortcut to be for the Use Default under Baseline? This applies not only to Pages but to every application which has duplicate menu names in it.
    Thanks,
    Chris Niski

I probably shouldn't reply and get your hopes up... but I noticed that the Shortcut setup didn't allow for specifying menu names (hah! even tho the text box is named "Menu Name" not "Menu Item") and wondered if there were apps that had duplicate menu names.
I'm no help at all, unless sympathy helps...

Subject: (forte-users) Session management for page builder
    Hi everybody,
We have a lot of legacy code making use of the page builder service to
produce web pages. These pages were originally written without session
management. I'm now busy adding session management to them, but there is
one problem with this approach and I will appreciate if someone can shed
some light on it. Here it is:
    Page one is submitted.
Some validation (authentication) takes place and depending on the outcome,
either page 2A (SESSION_REQUIRED) or 2B (error page with
SESSION_UNSPECIFIED) must be displayed. In order to implement this, I
needed a place to make a decision. The way I've done it, is to pass a
'virtual page' (SESSION_UNSPECIFIED) to the page builder service. The
validation is done here and request.PageName is then replaced with the
PageName of pages 2A or 2B. The HandleRequest() method is then called
again. The problem is that the ValidateSession() method does not get
invoked again, thus allowing 2A through without a session. How do I make
sure that the ValidateSession() method get invoked again?
The approach making use of templates look to me as if it has all the means
to do this (redirect tag), but I don't want to rewrite everything if I
don't have to. Is there a way that a pagebuilder page can be specified by
the redirect tag? This will definitely help, but so far I've only managed
to call templates from the redirect tag.
Is the template approach better suited for session management? It is
    definetely better documented...
    Regards.

  • "The dimensions of this page are out of range"

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble opening some pretty big posters I was creating. They contain some non-vector image files, so I decided to design them at the full size, rather then scale up in the end. Although a bit slow with size lag it was not an issue. In fact I have saved and re-opened them a few times with no trouble.
Now however, I made an edit to a single background psd file in photoshop (it's now smaller in size) that runs consistent through all 10 of the posters. I went in to update/edit each file again, and saved them no problem. Upon attempt to reopen I am sporadically getting the error "The dimensions of this page are out of range." Some files have this, others don't. One didn't have it, then a close and reopen brought it on.
I did a few searches here and elswhere and everyone seems to recieving this error when TRYING to save. Not after saving has already happened.
Does anyone have any suggestions to getting these files working again?

I'm currently trying to save an Illustrator CS4 document with two artboards to PDF (artboard #1 is 176.81in x 123.41in, artboard #2 is 206.0in x 66.08in), after finishing the Progress dialog "Saving...", an error dialog appears exclaiming "The dimensions of this page are out-of-range". These sizes are already the least I can have, what am I to do for it to properly export to PDF? (It has problems exporting to JPEG as well, but let's try to figure out one problem at a time.)
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Time is of the essence.
