Adding drop-down list in a custom schema

Is it possible to create a field with a drop-down list of items in a Prelude custom schema? Or, perhaps the ability is provided in the styles: (Integer, Real, Text, Boolean) and I am just not selecting or using those properly.
I notice it is done in some Adobe-provided meta tags, like this one named >Script...
Thanks!
Bobby

Hi Bobby -
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to create an array of items for a given custom metadata field. We do have some feature backlog items in our XMP team to look at making such things possible in the future.

  • Adding Drop Down List values from table fields

    Hi all,
    Recently we have switched from Microsoft's Infopath to Adobe's LiveCycle Designer.  In InfoPath i was able to allow a user to enter data in a table and then use that data as values for a drop downlist, which could in turn be used in another table.  Infopath made it relatively easy to do this, but I assume it requires scripting in LiveCycle.  Here is an example that make make it easier to to explain:
    Let's say we have a form with a table that has a colomn where the user can enter a value in a table let's say "Computer Name":
    Computer Name | IP | Vendor | Serial Number|
    PC 1
    ---------------------| 192.168.2.34| HP | US4839494
    PC 2
    PC 3
    PC 4
    Further down the form there is a nother table with a drop down list.  I want the values of the drop down list to be what ever values were entered for "Computer Name" in the previous table.  So in this case the table would look like this:
    Computer Name | Acquisition Date| End of Life Date
    <Drop DownList>|  07/21/2010 | 07/21/2014
    The drop downlist values would be "PC1, PC2, PC3, PC4"  or whatever values were entered in the previous table.  Essentially, I am trying to avoid from having users type in "Computer Name" data every time the "Computer Name" needs to be entered.  It would be so much easier to enter all "Computer Name" values and then use those values as part of a drop down list to avoid excessive typing.
    I hope this makes sense, it is fairly easy to do in InfoPath and I am sure there is a way to do this in LiveCycle.
    Let me know if my explanation is not clear enough.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the feedback, but it doesn't seem to quite accomplish what I am trying to do. I've tried using global binding as you specified, but the outcome is not exactly what I want.  Perhaps this drawing can help depict what I am trying to do:
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/153/dropdownlist.png/
    On the picture I manually defined the values for the drop down list.  Again, I want these values to be taken from "Computer Name" in the table above.
    Thanks!

  • Adding drop down list entries...

    I am currently designing an order form for various products that my company sells. The form has a number of drop down boxes where the customer can select different products from.
    Is it possable to have the prices contained in the drop down boxes once selected add and total at the bottom of the page?
    If so, how is this done?
    Thanks

  • Help needed with populating a drop-down list from an Access Database

    data drop-down list

    Hello,
    I am trying to use the data drop-down list from the custom library. I enter the name of my data connection and the other 2 variables in quotes when they are initialized, just like the example says to, but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks,

    I am having trouble (sleepless nights) with populating a drop-down list from an Access Database. The result is: I only get the first record from the data connection. So the connection works but I cannot go through the other records. Maybe there is an other way to do this.
    I am trying to selectively fill a form with data from an MS-access database.
    I hope someone can help me.

  • How do I populate a drop-down list from a schema variable

    I'm a novice programmer and new to the LiveCycle environment. I need help to populate a drop-down list in LiveCycle from a hard coded variable within my form's schema. I have a list of 28 names (the number of names and actual names change annually). That list is used over 30 times within a form for different selections. Since the list rarely changes, I would prefer to hard code it and make changes to the schema when they occur.
    If I can't find a solution, I will be updating over 30 separate drop-down list objects each time there is a change to the list.
    Thanks in advance for any help
    Chris

    Can you post your schema to [email protected] and I will have a look. You will also need to indicate which node in the schema is supposed to populate the dropdown.

  • Custom drop down list for the filter for BEX report

    Hi, all:
    I am writing a query for a BEX report that prompts the user to enter a value for a field "GL account".  I would like to have the user select from a limited number of GL options rather than have the whole Chart of accounts show up. Is there a way to make a "custom" drop down list for the filter?
    Thanks!
    Jenny

    You need to make your GL account info object as an authorization object. And in the info object ,for BEx you need to select the option "only authorized values".
    Create an analyis authorization on gl account and assign the restricted set of GL accounts to the user. Asign this analysis authorization to the user.In the query restrict this infoobject with an authorization variable. This would solve your purpose.user would be able to see only a selected set of GL accounts for which he is authorized.

  • Adding a *Not* Null Entry to a Data-Bound Drop Down List

    How do I add a not null entry to a data-bound drop down list? I am supposed to have something like this:
    <html:select property="Korisnik1" >
    <html:option value="0000">
         (Not null value)
    </html:option>
    <html:option value="-1">
    (Null value)
    </html:option>
    <html:optionsCollection label="prompt" value="index" property="Korisnik1.displayData" />
    </html:select >
    In case the value 0000 is marked the value should be inserted in to the database. The code above displays the value but insert doesn't work.

    I think that in this case that article is not what's required Shay as the question related to a "No Null" entry. The answer would be to add it into the list that is used to populate the list in the first place - generally by adding a "union select from dual" to the query that generates the list values.

  • Drop-down list will not allow custom entry

    I've got a drop down list on my form, with the 'Allow Custom Text Entry' checkbox checked. However, when I attempt to type in custom text, as soon as I focus away from the drop down via tab or clicking on another element, the text that I typed in disappears. The only text that I can get to submit is what is contained in the pre-defined list items. However, when I create a new form with nothing but the drop-down, it works fine...

    Yes this is a bug with Dynamic Forms in 7. There was a post before with a workaround -

  • Fill-In-The-Blank drop-down list in HTML5 output

    I'm working in Captivate 7 (WIN) and developing for both SWF and HTML5 output, viewing courses in IE9 for Windows and Safari on iPad.
    I have a quiz containing a fill-in-the-blank question, using a drop-down list to select the correct answer, however it does not display the drop-down button or function correctly in HTML5 output (see screenshot).
    The issue began after updating to Captivate 7 version 7.0.1.237. The drop-down list worked prior to the update I installed recently. I'm viewing the published course locally and in the LMS, and it does not work in either.
    I've not read in the help documents that drop-down list questions are an unsupported question type in HTML5, and so I'm wondering if this is a bug that needs to be reported. Has anyone encountered this issue?

    Do you need scoring? There is a Scrolling Text interaction (more control, you can empty the variable and it will be displayed empty) but it is a non-interactive one, no score possible except by adding other interactive objects.

  • Getting Drop Down list for a field in portal based on the values in R/3

    Hi,
    Presently we were customizing the ESS>>Family Members/Dependants iview in Portal. Because of the design requirement, in R/3 we have added some custom field for infotype 21 (Family Member details Infotype). We have to display these field on portal in Family Member Iview.
    However for these custom fields i am not able to get the drop down list with all the possible values description(F4 help ) in portal unlike the standard SAP fields.
    I am able to display the codes but the description is not coming up for the fields. However for standard SAP field, only description comes.
    For this I tried to attach the search help to the data element and also assigned a check table to the data element in R/3. But still I am not getting the description in the drop down.
    So how can I get the description and only the description in the drop down.
    Thanks
    Namit

    Hi,
    When you run the Search hep is it giving the description or not
    You have to create the serarch help with both the fieldname and its description field then we cna the values. Or
    Try to mantain the text table for this field and get the data.
    Get the valeusinto drop drown with this table Or create the SearchHelp for this text table

  • Sorting a drop-down list in Content

    Hello,
    This may be a simple issue but I just started working with UCM and have a question. I have a metadata field that's populated using a drop-down list. Seems like the list is sorted based on the date and time I added the list values. I would like to sort the list alphabetically in ascending order based on the label in the view. I've looked all over the documentation but can't find this anyway.
    Can anyone point me to the right solution?
    Thanks.
    Bigmc

    Is this for a custom metadata field or one of the out of the box? if ootb, which field?
    Where are you trying to find the information? I'm wondering where you're looking that you don't find it. It's documented in a few places in the "Managing Oracle WebCenter Content" document:

  • Type ahead in drop down lists

    Hi, I would like to be able to type ahead in drop down lists. E.g. with an alphabetical drop down list having
    Scott
    Sean
    Soo
    Steven
    I would like to be able to position within that drop down list by typing e.g. st and land upon steven, however when I key in st, I find myself at the top of the entries in the drop down list starting with t.
    Any ideas? Something I overlooked?
    Best regards, Jesper

    Jesper,
    I admit that I don't fully understand how it all works, but I'll explain the general steps I took to get it working. Hopefully some of the smart people here can show us a better way to do it.
    I don't think that I should post the actual javascript file because the first line of it says:
    "// Copyright 2004 and onwards Google Inc."
    But, you can get the original version of it here: http://www.google.com/ac.js
    If you save it and a copy of the page that calls it on your local web server, you can play around with it.
    It looks like a real mess. This guy has dissected it: http://serversideguy.blogspot.com/2004/12/google-suggest-dissected.html
    From all that, you can see that the end result is that the script calls a URL like this, with your query at the end:
    http://www.google.com/complete/search?hl=en&js=true&qu=transparent%20aluminu
    Which returns a result like this:
    sendRPCDone(frameElement, "transparent aluminu", new Array("transparent aluminum", "transparent aluminum 3m"), new Array("426,000 results", "31,900 results"), new Array(""));
    The script can be edited to call any URL. I changed it to call a stored procedure on my HTML DB web server. The changes were:
    Line 3: Change pn="search" to pn="schema.package.procedureName"
    Line 14: Change else E="/complete/" to E="/pls/htmldb/" (The Location entry set in your Marvel.conf)
    You then need to create a stored procedure that will be called from Line 3.
    It needs to have 3 varchar2 parameters called qu, hl, and js. The first one is the query string. I didn't use the other two.
    It needs to return a message like the script is expecting - with the results concatenated in comma-separated arrays. Here is a simple example:
    create procedure INCSEARCH(qu varchar2, hl varchar2, js varchar2) as
    l_List1 varchar2(4000);
    l_Query varchar2(255);
    l_separator varchar2(10) default '';
    begin
    l_Query := qu || '%';
    for x in (select Last_Name from hr.Employees where Upper(Last_Name) like Upper(l_Query) order by 1)
    loop
    l_list1 := l_List1 || l_separator || '"' || x.Last_Name || '"';
    l_separator := ',';
    end loop;
    owa_util.mime_header('text/html', false);
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    htp.p('sendRPCDone(frameElement, "'|| qu ||'", new Array(' || l_List1 || '), new Array(' || l_List1 || '), new Array(""));');
    end;
    Grant Execute on INCSEARCH to Public;
    The last step is to hook it into HTML DB. Examining the Google page shows that they run a script called InstallDC to hook the script to a form field.
    In the Footer section of the Page Attributes of my page, I added this:
    <SCRIPT src="/ac.js"></SCRIPT>
    <SCRIPT>InstallAC(document.wwv_flow,document.wwv_flow.p_t03,document.wwv_flow.p_t03,"dc_htmldb.incsearch","en");</SCRIPT>
    Where p_t03 is the name of the text field I want it attached to, and "dc_htmldb.incs.incsearch" is my stored procedure.
    Those are the basic steps. Does anyone have a cleaner approach?

  • Change values of drop down list when other drop-down list value is clicked

    Hi Gurus,
    I look for my requirement very much but I can't find. I think it must be very simple but I can't do it, please help :
    I have to custom added fields. Both of them is made drop-down list by picklist defined in GET_P...methods.
    When I click and select a value from the first drop-down list, I want that second drop-down values are fully changed, depend on what I select in the first list. If I select my value and press enter in the first drop down box, I can do my requirement with GET_V...method. But if I don't press enter, the values of second list doesn't change, they remain same. I want exactly that when I click and select a value from first drop-down list, second drop-down list values are automatically change, dependent on what selected. Do I have to define and event?? where and how, please help me..

    Hi,
    You must have created the field as a dropdown using the below code in the get_p method.
    CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter~fp_fieldtype.
            rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_picklist.
      ENDCASE.
    Here you need to add the below lines of code along with the previous code. for the first dropdown value
      IF iv_property =  if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event.
        rv_value = 'DDLB_CLICK'.
      ENDIF.
    This would refresh the screen when the user selects any value from the dropdown.
    Regards,
    Radhika
