Adding dynamic text to SharePoint Pages

Hello all,
Our SharePoint developer has quit and not his "duties" have been "pushed" onto me. While I am no developer, I can hold my own on certain things.
Basically I have been asked to add "dynamic" text to our pages that will "read" a field in our "project information list" - project name, client etc.
Is there a way to "read" a field in SharePoint and add this information dynamically to a page? Our project pages will be around 20 and to do it manually for every page would be a bit of a bear.
Lastly, we have a documentation library with folders in it. Is there a way to display the "folder" the user is currently in? Right now, when the user clicks on "procedures", there is no visual indication on the page they are in the "procedures"
folder.

For the first question, you want to display values from a column of a list in a page, what’s more, the values will be changed along with the changes in the corresponding list.
Content Query Web Part would be a good choice without coding.
You can specify the column you want to display, the style of the content and you can even filter the values you got. All you need to do is add this web part into your 20 pages
with some necessary settings, then you will get a dynamic view of data on your page.

Added dynamic text; How do I stop variable name from showing?

I am creating a simple game for kids. On the first page, I added an "input text" field for their first name. I called the variable firstname.
When they move to the next page, I used a "dyanamic text" field so I can call them by name on this page. It works. However, When I test the game, on the first page, where the firstname is input, it shows _level0.firstname instead of just a blank space for them to input their name.
I know I fixed this in the past and it was something simple, but I can't remember how to do it. I'd appreciate anyone's help!

Beginning with Flash MX (version 6), you assign the text field an instance name using the Property inspector. Although you can use the variable name method with dynamic text fields for backwards compatibility to Flash 5 and earlier versions, Macromedia doesn't recommend this, because you can't control other text field properties, or apply style sheet settings

Dynamic text based on page number

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to place a dynamic text on an hrform. The form is displaying wage types and when there are more than 2 pages, the values on the first page need to be summerized into a variable with the text subtotal in front of it. When we are on the last page, the text total with the total of all the wagetypes needs to be displayed. I tried to use the sfsy-page and sfsy-formpages variables to know on which page i am but the strange thing is that when i use in in program lines and i use debugger to look into the variable i get this:
First page:
sfsy-page = 1
sfsy-formpages = 1
Second page:
sfsy-page = 2
sfsy-formpages = 2
But when i place it into a text element to test i get 1 of 2 on page one and 2 of 2 on page two. How is this possible?
Also i want to display a subtotal of the displayed wagetypes per page. Anyone an idea how i can do that?

Hi,
The reason you get 1-1 ,2-2 in debugging is because, the pages are added dynamically,depending on the length of your main window.Which doesnt get captured initially,but can be used in text element.
As far as totalling on every page and at the last page is concerned ,try teh following link:

Dynamic Text in Apple Pages

I know that it's possible to create Placeholder Text. However I'm looking for dynamic text. I frequently deal with documents where I need to update 30 fields with the same information. Rather than going 30 times and replacing the Placeholder Texts with the correct info, I'd love to be able to just fill out a couple fields and the remaining ones to populate dynamically. Kind of how you can create cell references in Apple Numbers and Excel, I'd love to create references for text.
Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Pages does not have Dynamic Text.
Use a marker placeholder eg «example1»
Then use Find and Replace to substitute what you want.

Inlude a CSS to cutomize text on sharepoint pages

Hi there,
I have around 2000 pages and I want to include a CSS to format the text of those pages.
I am able to achieve the task by including the css as an embedded code in the wiki pages but it is difficult to do so in 2000 pages.
Hence I have written the CSS and included it in my master page in the <head> tag above the content place holder named PlaceHolderAdditonalPageHead as below
<SharePoint:CssRegistration Name="<% $SPUrl:~SiteCollection/Style%20Library/custom.css" runat="server" />
I have uploded the css in the root level where the style library is located.
But still it is not working.
Please guide me if I am on the right track or a solution how I can achieve.

Adding Special Texts XSS Area page translation to transport

Dear Experts,
How to add Special Texts XSS Area page translation to transport in SAP?
I maintained some translations for ESS through SE63 using Special Texts XSS Area page but i am unable to create transport for same via transaction SLXT and even can not see it in table LXE_LOG. Any pointers on this? Thanks in advance.

You need to find the entries in table T7XSSSERSTRLAN and transport the table entries.

Dynamic Text in the Page Header

     I have a small requirement i.e., changing the text of title on page header UI element based on condition. if create then create data else if it is display then display the info some thing like that.

Create on eattribute of type String and bind to title property of page header,
and your WDDOINIT or any event write code to set title for PG header,
You are using different buttons, use this code in your buttons and change text.
DATA lo_el_context TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
DATA ls_context TYPE wd_this->Element_context.
DATA lv_pg TYPE wd_this->Element_context-pg.
* get element via lead selection
lo_el_context = wd_context->get_element( ).
data pg1 type string.

My Question is ...
I need to Add multiple addresses at a time.
I have a Address Table with 4 fields called address,street,city and state.
I want to show these 4 fields in view page and i filled data into text boxes ,and i have an add link in the page ,
if i click on add link i need to generate same above fields(address,street ,city,state)..like so on .
finally i have submit button ,on clicking submit button i need to commit all these rows into data base.
i think this can achieve through iterator in jspx, but still i have doubt ,how to increment an iterator clicking on add,
this is the way to do this functionality or any other way.please let me know.

Tutorial Dreamweaver Cs5.5 The Missing Manual (Pg 998 - 1018) about adding dynamic data to your page

I did Tutorial: Displaying Database Info in the Missing Manual for Dreamweaver CS5.5.
My problem is with "Editing a Recordset and Linking to a Detail Page" (which starts at pg 1002:
I did this exercise ,over 5 times nowe, but every time with "Building the Detailed Product Page" at pg 1007, I get a bad result.
I only get one page (the default one with productID = 1) for every link on the indexpage.
In the adressbar (Live View) I see the right adress: for example: http://localhost/cos...hp?productID=16, but for all productID's only the detailspage for productID are shown.
There is also a message: Notice: Use of undefined constant ‘productID’ - assumed '‘productID’' in E:\xampp\htdocs\cosmo_shop\product.php on line 34
But I don't understand what could be wrong in this line.
Here is the code lines 33 -48: is is about the second line:

I can manually type in double brackets, like this:
$varProduct_rsDetails = "1";
if (isset($_GET["productID"])) {

this is accepted; no syntax-error report.
I can manually type in single brackets, like this:
$varProduct_rsDetails = "1";
if (isset($_GET['productID'])) {
$varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET['productID'];
this is also accepted; no syntax-error report.
Dreamweaver itself made this code:
$varProduct_rsDetails = "32";
if (isset($_GET[‘productID’])) {
$varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET[‘productID’];
this was not OK; there was a syntax-error report.
But strange enough, when I do paste this now from here, it is accepted.
So the problem has been, that DW created code that gave a syntax error.
I could repair it by replacing the single qoutes of DW, by typing single quotes in DW manually, or by typing in in DW manually double qoutes!!!
So maybe everybode was right!!!
But is was a very bad problem; maybe a "bug" of the program?
I repeated this about 10 times before I got the solution frome this Forum.

I guess you're referring to a column table.
You can simply submit to server and regenerate the page or you can add the column using Javascript DOM manipulation function.

Displaying dynamic data on every page of standard text

Hi All,
I m using standard text (created in SO10) in smartform . I want to display dynamic data on the top of every page of standard text.
Displaying the dynamic data is not the problem, but how would i know where is page finished(or started) as Preview in SO10 may not look the same as smartform output.
I dont want to do this manually by adjusting the size of window. Is there any other way to do the same??

Try to create a text in your SF and write the dynamic data.
To know in which page use &SFSY-PAGE&
this system fields may also be helpful for dynamic text on each page
&SFSY-COPYCOUNT0&   "COPY COUNTER( 0 = ORIGINAL, 1 = 1st COPY)
&SFSY-COPYCOUNT&   "COPY COUNTER( 1 = ORIGINAL, 2 = 1st COPY)
Still you can called DYNAMIC text through your standard text.. but place your conditions.

Controlling Dynamic Text

How do you get dynamic text to show up within a specific
movie clip instead of simply on the stage?
I've created a dynamic text field and given it an instance
name (banner_txt). I'd like to use a variable to hold the .text
info for this field, that way the banner's label can change when
people go to a new section of my website.

Dynamic Text in Pages using Numbers file as input

I was wondering if it is possible to have cells or text boxes in Pages that are dynamic and are filled
in automatically using a source cell from a linked Numbers file as the input.
I have proposals to write that always use a specific Numbers file to crunch the math, but I want
to present certain parts of the Numbers file in a formal written proposal and don't want to redo
everything by hand when I make small changes to the projects financials.

There is no feature allowing us to link two different documents.
You may try to achieve your goal creating the Text document in a Numbers sheet using text boxes.

Help ! using Calendar & adding text to a page problem !!

Let's hope I make this clear enough for someone to understand.
I am making up a Calendar & I want to add text to certain pages ( photo ).
I click on 'Design' & pick option 2 ( the one where you can add text ), now here is my problem. The text box always starts the text from the right, when I have added the text I want to move it over to the Left or make it central but nothing happens when i hit the space bar, it stays on the right.
Does anyone know a way so I can either move the text over to the Left or do something else to get it on the left or where ever I want it ?
This is most frustrating. If I hit the 'spacebar' now I end up here.
So why can't do it in Calendar !! OR am I just thick & missing something.

What theme are you using? In my Pictures calendar the text box below the photos start at the left, i.e. left justified.
But here's a possible way to get it where you want:
1 - type in the text as you want, setting the size and font for the calendar.
2 - copy the text out of the text box
3 - open a text editor and past the text into it.
4 - in the text editors formatting section select "left justification".
5 - select all of the text in the text editor
6 - do a select all in the calendar text box and past the text from the text editor. That should change the justification to whatever you want, left or center.

Carry over formatting to the next page without adding a text box

I've written 15 books on the old pages and had no trouble carrying the formatting to the next page without adding a page or adding a text box to the added page. I just kept on typing. I've added the new pages and had trouble right from the start so I went back to the old and got a good start, but going through that added procedure on every new page gets old in a hurry.
It shows the number of pages at the bottom, but a new page doesn't come on automatically when I type.

1. Why not continue to use Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder?
2. In Pages 5:
Setup (gear icon far right of toolbar) > check Document Body
and the text will flow from page to page.
