Adding File Types to Content Search

It doesn't seem like Search will find text found in Actionscript files. Is there anyway to add these to the Search and Index functions so I can find text found in them like I can in a javascript, ".js", file for example.

Someone would have to write an importer. Googling "actionscript spotlight" turns up this:

  • EA1: Adding file types does not work.

    The File Type preferences panel doesn't seem to work.
    1 Go into Preferences
    2 Click on File Types in the tree
    3 CLick Add, enter an extension and click on OK
    You get the stack dump below in the console.
    The extension you just entered goes in a 'DeployableTextNode' with a tick in the Open with SQL Developer column.
    But the check box in the bottom panel is Unchecked and all the other fields in bottom panel are disabled (Remove button; File Type drop down; Content Type Radio group).
    4 Click on OK
    5 Go back into Preferences | File Type.
    The first time I did this, the extension I just added was gone.
    Going through it again for this post, they are all gone, including the pre-supplied ones.
    6 Exit SQL Developer and go back in and they are back.

    Please try to define a reproducible test case. Is this happening in all content area? Is it happening with all files, or only particular ones? What platform are you running on? What version of the database are you using?
    Have you checked your repository for invalid objects? If any exist, please try to recompile them.

  • Process Multiple Files Adding File Type as Part of Name

    I'm using the "process multiple files" command to converts folders of tiff files to jpeg.
    I routinely hide extension names of my files.
    All my files are being converted with the ".tiff" extension added as part of the name, and I can find no way to prevent the process from adding this suffix.
    So, for example, a tiff file I see as "Name" gets converted to jpeg as "Name.tiff"
    So, if I then display the extension/file type on the new file, what I see is "Name.tiff.jpg"
    Is there any way to prevent the process from adding ".tiff" to the end of each filename? I have a few thousand of these to do, and am not looking forward to manually deleting that suffix off each file.

    Batch Rename:
    You can rename original/input files or you can copy/move original files to output directory and rename the files in the output directory. For renaming, you can generate a name pattern for new names and the starting index for numbers.
    Please be very carefully when you use rename and first test your options with dummy files; batch rename can be very powerful = dangerous! Using bad name pattern, combined with options like Move/Rename original/input files and/or Overwrite existing files, you can, under special circumstances, remove all input/original files! Please do not use these options, until you REALLY know what you are doing.
    Hint:
    If you want e.g. 3 digits in the new rename name, you must also write 3x "#" in the pattern!
    Example:
    Pattern image_### with start index 1 will produce file names "image_001", "image_002", etc.
    Click on Set rename options to open a dialog for further options for the renaming process.
    Check those you want to use, then click OK. To exit without making any selections, click Cancel.
    Batch Conversion + Rename:
    This option combines the normal Batch Conversion with Batch Rename. You can set the name pattern for the output files
    The above is from the help file of Irfanview, a free program, which you can obtain here:
    www.irfanview.com
    This will rename in a pattern, but I don't know if this is suitable for your purpose.

  • Choose display template based on result type - Content search webpart

    Hi
    Is it possible to choose display template based on result type in content search webpart same like search results web part? If not available can it be achieved programmatically?
    The content search web part is queried against document content type. Based on the document type, the document has to be seen in the hover template.
    Please advise.

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to choose display template based on result type as search result Webpart in Content Search Webpart.
    You could customize your display template for Content Search Web Part, please refer to this article:

  • Is it possible to include several file types in a saved search?

    I want to have a saved search that shows recently changed sound files in the Finder.
    It works great with one file type, but I want to have two.
    Right now I have "Audio IFF", but I also want to include "WAVE".
    However, if I add another "Kind" and "other", and set it to "WAVE", the "Audio IFF" files disappears from the search.
    Any idea how I can combine two file types in the search?

    I want to have a saved search that shows recently changed sound files in the Finder.
    It works great with one file type, but I want to have two.
    Try the following:
    Starting from a Finder search window, change the first condition from "Kind is" to "Last Modified date" is "within last" xxx days:
    From that window, hold down the option key, and click on the plus sign at the right:
    This will bring up a multi-condition entry form that you can use to construct an "OR" search. Be sure it is set for "Any" of the following are true, and then click on the lowermost plus sign to set up the second OR line:
    Finally, set up each condition as KInd is Other, and enter your choices:
    Then save the search.

  • Block Attachments by File Type

    We have requirement where we want to block emails with attachment type :
    .ade .cmd .eml .ins .mdb .mst .reg .url .wsf .adp .com .exe .isp .mde .pcd .scr .vb .wsh .bas .cpl .hlp .js .msc .pif .sct .vbe .bat .crt .hta .jse .msi .pl .scx .vbs .chm .dll .inf.lnk .msp .pot .shs .wsc… etc.
    Some of these extensions are not listed in File type under content filter. Please let me know the alternate way to block the same.

    You will be best suited to create a message filter to scan and drop.  Similar to:
    attach_drop: if (attachment-filename =='(?i)\\.(ade|cmd|eml|ins|mdb|mst|reg|url|wsf|adp|com|exe|isp|mde|pcd|scr|vb|wsh|bas|cpl|hlp|js|msc|pif|sct|vbe|bat|crt|hta|jse|msi|pl|scx|vbs|chm|dll|inf|lnk|msp|pot|shs|wsc)$'){
    drop();
    See the User Guide for full details on message filter, and examples.  They may contain a better solution, and provide you full details on getting started, tweaking.

  • How to search unknown file types?

    Is it possible to get DW CS3 to search the contents of files
    that it doesn't recognise?
    I'm working on a C# .net 2 site (I prefer editing in DW than
    VS), which includes .resx files. I have the files within a DW site,
    yet searching for strings I know exist in selected files yields no
    results. However, opening them in DW, and then searching content
    does return a result. But this isn't very helpful when you don't
    know what file you're looking for!
    So, is it possible?
    Thanks
    Matt

    I'm using 902.
    The custom xml item type is something that was created by Oracle Netherlands. They based it on the File type. We input items of this type using XOpus, which is a javascript based XML editor that is embedded within the browser, so when we click on the portal link to edit the item, xopus renders the xml content, and we make changes or enter data and save it.
    This shouldn't matter though. The XML items are definitely being added to the database, because they are accessible later, but these items never show up in the search results for items (whereas items of builtin types, file or text, do show up). Whether this is because they aren't being indexed, or for some other reason, I'm not sure.
    thanks for your help...

  • How do i ADD a file type (such as Quicktime mov) that is NOT listed in the Content Type list?

    All the instructions I find when searching for how to ADD a file type just explain how to manage how Firefox handles that file type. And that is not possible when the file type is not in the list.

    Usually MOV is played by the QuickTime plugin. Some other plugins also may handle MOV. This is handled by entries in a hidden database, but you can view the contents if you type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter.
    In looking at your plugins list under "More System Details" I don't see QuickTime. Is it disabled (set to "never activate") on the Add-ons page? Missing?

  • Reading shape file and searching by file type

    I want to write an application for working with ESRI .shp files which I think shouldn't be too hard. Looking for recources on this forum I didn't find any at all, which is unusual to me.
    It made me wonder the following: Why can't I search for resources on ni.com by file type? I see a lot of applications that interact in some way with existing file types (beyond ordinary xls, doc and txt), but information (be it articles, links or forum questions) are spread out all over the web (if the information exists at all). I would love to see recources grouped by file type, so I can see in a list of extensions which types people program for(in labview). Maybe there's allready something like this that I am not aware of?

    We don't have a way to search content by file type. And since most attachments are zipped up by NI or by customers, searching for a filetype probably wouldn't yield the results you were looking for.
    If an article (or customer question) makes a reference to that filetype in the text itself, or includes a link to such a file, the file extension will be indexed.
    I don't see any content relating to ".shp" files, so I would recommend simply posting your request to the appropriate product category in the Forums.
    Best of luck with the application.

  • Unable to perform content search in PDF files

    Hi All,
    I am able to search the file based on content in .doc and .txt however the search result has not included the .pdf files despite it includes the content I am searching for.

    Thankx.
    Krrish7.

    Perform a FileManager.updateDocument and supply the id of the document to update along with a definition containing the new file name (Attributes.NAME).
    For example ... to rename document.out to document.pdf
    ManagersFactory session = ....
    FileManager fileM = session.getFileManager();
    Item doc = fileM.resolvePath("/path/to/document.out", null);
    // rename to document.pdf
    fileM.updateDocument(doc.getId(),
    new NamedValue[]
    ClientUtils.newNamedValue(Attributes.NAME, "document.pdf")
    }, null);
    Note also that you could add a new format from Enterprise Manager for ".out" files, if all ".out" files were of type pdf.
    cheers

  • Spotlight/Finder Doesn't Search In ASP and other file types?

    .asp and .c file types are nothing more than .txt files with different extentions..
    Am I correct in thinking that Spotlight doesn't search inside these files? I have a folder full of asp files and spotlight doesn't seem to find anything when I type text that I know is inside one (as a test)
    It does appear to search INSIDE .html files in the same folder.. Can you add different file extentions that spotlight will search into?
    If not, then "Spotlight" is much ado about nothing as google desktop search, X1 and the msn desktop search (Windows) released years ago search inside ALL files..

    Spotlight makes a content index for files using mdimporter, and that process depends on mdimporter modules for the specific file type. Thus in /Library/Spotlight you will see a collection, such as Microsoft Office.mdimporter, of "extras" for special file types. There are also the built-in ones in /System/Library/Spotlight. If you installed Xcode/Developer Tools, there should be a SourceCode.mdimporter, which I imagine would index the asp and c files. If not, some people have modified it to also index php files, see this discussion:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050514182520714&query=spotlight%2 Bphp%2Bfiles
    at MacOSXHints. I think you could do something similar (at your own risk of course) for other pure text based files. Be sure to expand the the replies and read them.

  • Search Results Weight By File Type?

    We are crawling a series of folders using the NT CWS. Some folders contain primarily HTML content while others contain binaries (PDF, DOCs). The folders are split into "Web Content" and "Publications" at the root -- so they are already segregated by file type. Because the binary documents are relatively large and contain a lot of text (meeting minutes, etc), they seem to rise to the top of many search queries. Not sure if the search engine is simply counting the number of term matches or using some other algorithm for relevance. I've fiddled with the Search Results Manager - Banner Fields weights without much success.
    Can anyone recommend a strategy that will weight our HTML documents higher than PDF/DOC files? I know through the Search API, we can restrict search to particular folders but that is different than actually affecting the weighting. Ideally, want to show any HTML docs and then show binary docs, below.

    Bring up the search HUD, use the "+" drop down menu to add an "other metadata" criteria choose file name and type in the extension that you are looking for.

  • Adding file to Application deployment content after client deployment

    Hi,
    I have been testing deploying Visio 2013 via Application deployment and am having troubles with running an uninstall.
    After deploying the software successfully to my test client, I needed to make a change to the uninstall process & have added an new file that is now used during an uninstall.
    When running the uninstall on my test client, I can see the correct commandline being used; however it fails because the additional file has not been downloaded to the CCMCache folder on the client.
    I have run an 'update content' for the distribution type, cleared the clients cache & re-run the uninstall from Software Center. The client redownloads the source files, however it is still missing the new file that it needs.
    Checking on the distribution points, I can see the new file referenced in the SCCMContentLib folder.
    I tried removing previous revisions from the Application via the console & now when running the uninstall on the client it fails immediately without downloading the source files. Checking AppEnforce.log, it looks like the uninstall is referencing the
    old revision of the Application Deployment still (which didn't contain the additional file, and no longer exists in the revision history).
    Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this resolved?
    And also, what is the correct procedure for updating/adding files to an already deployed application?
    Thanks in advance!

    If you're confident that the DP contains the new file, try deleting the deployment and re-doing it (not the deployment type - just the deployment to your test collection).
