Adding file with hyperlink causes spacing issue

Everytime I add a hyperlink (that links to a file) in the middle of a paragraph it adds weird spacing above and below this line. It's fine if I am just linking to a url and only happened when I add the file. Any ideas?

The problem is :
In the prePrint event you are only setting the presence property of the CheckBox to hidden. But in your form, the CheckBox is wrapped in a Subform. you need to set the presence property of the Subform to hidden instead of Checkbox.
Try replacing your code with this..
in the prePrint Event:
     this.parent.presence = "hidden";
in the postprint event:
     this.parent.presence = "visible";
Use the attached form. To make the form consitent with other sections, I removed the subform that wraps all the fields in OMFS/Excessive section.

Let me know if that helps.

  • Mac InDesign CS6 crashes when adding files with links to Windows network into book

Our Mac network is unstable, so I tested linking InDesign CS6 files (on my Mac's hard drive) to .jpg files on our company's very stable Windows network rather to the same .jpg files on our Mac network. I tested with 4 simple, small InDesign files. When these 4 files were linked to images on a storage drive on our Mac network, I could drag all 4 files into a book and export the book to PDF. But when linked to the same images on the Windows network, while each file would open fine with no errors, and while I could generate a PDF from each individual file, the moment I dragged the 4 files into a book, InDesign crashed, generating pages of information in the crash report form.
I have no problem making 500 page manuals on my hard drive, comprised of about 50 InDesign files, with links to THOUSANDS of image files on a storage drive on our Mac network. Is there some trick to making a book with files linked to images on a Windows network? If there is no simple answer, who could I call to set us up so this will work?
I'm using InDesign CS6 for Mac, totally updated, version 8.0.1.
    Thank you so much!!!

It seems, this is all you need to do... your message isn't clear as to whether you've fixed your issue or not.
    [Extract from link above]...
"Add the network share(s) to your Favorites in Bridge and drag assets into your layouts from Bridge or Mini-Bridge. The paths stored in the InDesign links will be full network paths, and both sets of machines should have no problem finding them. This is the more usual InDesign workflow."

  • Motion - Importing .PSD file with grayscale causing issue

I need to import a layered .psd from cs1. There are no effects on it, masks or anything. If I import the file merged everything looks fine but if I import them seperately then the part of the layers that has transparency turns out all funky/blocky/blotchy if that makes since. For instance if I import a layer with just a basketball in the center of the layer and transparency all around it... the basket ball looks great but the rest is all messed up. Its an 8 bit grayscale file that is under 1mb if that matters...
    Thanks!

It's the grayscale that's the issue. Change it to RGB in Photoshop and all should be good in Motion. Can't use grayscale or CMYK in Motion.

  • My Adobe XI software no longer converts Word to PDF files with hyperlinks or page layout preserved.

Is anyone else having the same problem where the initial installation worked fine and over time, you are no longer able to adjust the setting in the 'convert to PDF' menu for Word documents?  I am now faced with Word documents that lose their hyperlinks on conversion and when there are changes in page orientation (e.g., portrait to landscape and back again), the software creates sub files for each kind of page layout.  In a word, the software has become useless.  What can I do to fix this?

In order to preserve links on Mac Word to PDF. You need to do as follows (note this only preserves links created by Word's auto Correct. Not by Word's URL Creator.)
    Method #1
Create Document save as .docx as backup.
Go to File Menu > Print
Click and hold the PDF button, a Context menu appears.
Choose Adobe Quality PDF, or Adobe PDF (depends upon Version of Mac OS X)
First Choose quality (similar to Job Options in Distiller) and whether to open using Acrobat Or Reader.
Next a Title will appear. (in format "microsoft.nameoffle.docx.pdf").
You can leave file name as is or remove the Microsoft and the .docx from the Name
    Save File.
This method also will print pdf, even if it has section and Page breaks except when there is orientation change from Portrait, or landscape.
    Method #2
    Do step 1 above.
    Locate the file Created.
Drag the file either on top the actual Application or its Icon in the Dock.
    Wait ......
    When Acrobat opens Immediately save.
Again all links created with Auto-correct will be live.
And pages will be intact in the PDF except when there is a Change in orientation.
Auto correct will create links/URL's  when you type such the will automatically turn blue and become underlined. And clicking on the in the word Document  will go to the link.
What does not work until Adobe fixes a 10-15 year old bug is where you select word then go to Insert menu> URL. A window opens and you choose the link or email, in the URL Creator.
Also the Bug where changes in section, and pages breaks cause new PDF that have to be put together has not been completely cured. (Still splits when orientation changes.) Has been proved by Microsoft to be a Bug Adobe can't or won't fix. You simply take a Mac Word File open it in the PC version and create a PDF. And works perfect.

  • Save AI file as Flash file with hyperlinks in attributes

I have created a map for class project. added links for websites to text in map. When I export the map as a flash file. All I get is a picture without my hyperlinks working.
Please advise how to save it or what function is required to be set for it to save and allow me to open in internet explorer and connect links.

Not really the right way to do it.
Try exporting as .html file. It's still not the best way, but it should
    bring your links with it.
Flash uses a completely different kind of linking than .html and Illustrator
    doesn't export it well.

  • Converting files to PDF causing formatting issues.

    Hello.
I am experiencing issues with converting an Excel file to a PDF and retaining its format.  The first page converts fine, no formatting issue. But every page after that is shrinking the font and making the images smaller.  This employee has tried to save the Excel file as a PDF and tried printing it through the Adobe print driver, but both are producing the same issue.
The troubleshooting steps I have taken to try to resolve this issue are below.
    reinstall Adobe Acrobat
    tried modifying the margins
    tried a different machine
    Cleaned the Temp folder
Any suggestions on a fix for this?

    Hi Bill.
Thank you for the response.  I tested what you have suggested and this did not work.  When Adobe PDF printer is selected, it looks fine in the print preview, but once the Excel sheet has been processed, the format is not correct.  I tested this also with printing a hard copy to a printer, still the formatting looks fine in the print preview.  Once the file has been printed, it is not formatted the same. I have also removed the Adobe Driver and installed it again.  Still doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?

  • PDF from PostScript file with hyperlinks/bookmarks

Is there a way to include hyperlinks and bookmarks when printing to Postscript file.
Direct Export to PDF creates a huge file size so I need to go the PostScript/Distiller route.

Would it not be possible to use the famous Acrobat Replace Pages featurebug/bugfeature here? (Hyperlinks on, and bookmarks to pages do not get replaced when you replace those.)
    Something like:
    1. Export to PDF.
    2. Print and Distill.
    3. Replace all pages in the document from step 1 with those from step 2.
    4. Done.

  • Converting Word .doc File with Hyperlinks to PDF

There appear to be a rather large number of posts in this forum describing problems similar to mine. I've tried most of the work-arounds suggested with no good results.
First the basics. I'm running Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (8.1.3) and Microsoft Office (Word) 2003. My situation is that I've got hundreds of 1 page Word documents that contain a single jpeg with a relative link at the bottom which is suppose to reload an index pdf file that resides one folder above; ie. ..\index.pdf.
The entire reason I went to Acrobat Pro from Standard was to get the Batch Processing capability so I just point to the 100's of Word doc's and have them converted to pdf's in the same directory. Doesn't happen correctly. The link is corrupted during the conversion. I've tried all the setting in both Word and Acrobat that have been suggested... nothing works. Of course the links work fine in Word.
The strange part is that if I use the "Convert to Adobe PDS" menu option in Word (which just calls Adobe Acrobat under the covers) it works fine. Unfortunately, individually converting 100's of one page doc files is time consuming.
    So, my questions are:
Has anyone gotten to the bottom of converting Hyperlinks from Word to Acrobat successfully? (I tried using Word 2007 with similar bad results)
Does anyone know if Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro has solved the Word Hyperlink conversion problem? Is it worth upgrading?
Adobe tells me that I have to pay $39 per incident to get support since I'm one release back. Does anyone have an opinion on how likely it is that Adobe Support will resolve my problem in a timely fashion?
Thanks for any suggestions you may provide. I will continue to look for novel ways of resolving this and will post if I'm successful.

I don't see my reply to the first message; so it may have gotten lost. So, here goes again.
I have tried opening the Word doc in Adobe and get interesting but not usable results. Acorbat converts it to a pdf document. I then look at the link and it's correct. I then click on the link and Acrobat asks me if I want to save the file before loading the index page that is referenced... of course I do... the link works... However, when I then click on the link in the index page to return the newly converted and saved page it is loaded but the link is corrupted.... and no longer works.
This seems to indicate that somewhere in the Acrobat Save routine the module that is doing the save is corrupting the link.
I have tried many combinations with similar results. I am currently looking at writing a VB.NET routine that will restore the link after the save is done... perhaps that will work.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Trouble adding files with new 7.0

Ever since I downloaded iTunes 7.0 and the updated 7.01 and I try to add files to my iTunes library from my hard drive it will only allow me to add up to 5 files which is a real pain in the neck. If I am adding a new cd I have to keep going back to "add file to library" and repeating the steps. I never had this problem until the recent update of iTunes. I could add 100 files and they would all make it to my iTunes library. Any ideas?

    Homemade   Windows XP

No, my hard drive is not full. I am not an idiot. I am far from full. That is not the problem anyway, if you read my post. I do not use iTunes to upload my cds. I use another program because I don't like the way iTunes does it. I add the files from my hard drive to iTunes using "add new files to library" from the file menu. However it will only allow me to add 5 at a time. Very annoying. From the sounds of things they really screwed up with this new 7.0 version. They will never get another dime of my money since my iPod gets a sad face often, won't play, and the only advice I got was "well, you will have to buy a new one, we have a new one coming out in September." Thanks Apple, for making crap products that need to be replaced every 15 months.

  • BT File Transfer: Files with "&"s cause reception failure

    Hi,
I'm using a Satellite A200 with the latest BT Stack (5.10.06T). File transfer is fine, unless the file has an ampersand (&) in it... Is this a known bug? Is there a fix due? It's incredibly annoying!
    Cheers,
    Greg

Update: After further investigation, the problem is actually with files containing apostrophies. They get converted to the xml litteral ''' and then presumably the stack can't download the file as it doesn't exist with that name.
Sorry for the mistake... can anyone advice if this is a known issue or is due to be fixed? :)
    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Can I create a gif file with hyperlink hotspots?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a gif file in Photoshop or Fireworks than I can upload to a website as a background image to my profile page, but I would like to be able to include a few different hyperlinks embedded within that gif file, so for instance if a user clicks on the text for a website this acts as a hyperlink and opens the site in a new browser window.
Is this possible or not, my knowledge of Photoshop/Fireworks is quite limited but as far as I can tell, this is only possible if I'm exporting the image from Fireworks as an HTML document, and that's not what I need .. it has to be in a gif or jpeg format.
Can someone put me out of my misery please and let me know if its possible to embed one or more hyperlinks within certain areas of a gif file?
    Many thanks in advance
    Wayne

That's pretty much what I thought Chris, thanks very much for taking the time to reply to my post - its very much appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

  • Email pdf with hyperlink

    Hi,
I am trying to email an optimized pdf file with hyperlinks. The links work and show up when I am in Acrobat (version - Prof. 9.0), but when i email the pdf they do not show up in the email. My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email (so u don't have to actually open any programs) with the links active, so when reading the email you can move your cursor over it and the link will show as active. Hope that makes sense, in essence it's basically an email blast, but for some reason my links aren't showing up in the final email. I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    >My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email
Impossible to assure that with all users. Many may have their email client set to show it as an attachment only.

  • Search and find jpg files with uppercase extension

Macbook pro 13 inch retina display with OS X Yosemite.
Some of the images I'm working on are being saved with all uppercase extension .JPG.
    My questions is:
    1) Does anyone know why this is happening?
    2) Is there a way to search all the files that have the uppercase extension .JPG?
    3) How could I change all the files with uppercase extension .JPG either individually or batch all the files automatically?
    4) Is there a way to have my files saved with the normal lowercase .jpg extension for future files?
    Thank you.

Which program are you using to edit your jpeg images?
On a normal Mac with HFS Journaled disk format, there is not any difference with upper case or lower case file names - only if you have formatted the disk as a "HFS Journaled Case Sensitive" can you have two files that differ only in case. For example on a disk with normal formatting, if you had a file called abc.jpg you could not create another file called abc.JPG (you will get an error if you try), but on a disk that was formatted as HFS Journaled Case Sensitive you could have both files.
So in your case the upper case files would be opened if you typed in the lower or upper case name.
Do you have a few files with this upper case issue or lots?
If you have only a few just rename them in Finder (Yosemite Finder now has a nice rename feature) - just highlight all the files you want to rename then right-click or control-click and select the item in the options dialog that appears named "Rename xx items" where xx is the number of items you had highlighted.
If you have a lot let me know and will tell you a different way that is easier but involves using the command line in Terminal.
Is it possible you accidentally had the caps lock key pressed when you typed in a name? In any event it doesn't really matter how they got the upper case name, simply changing the names to lower case should fix the problem so that it doesn't happen again.

  • Gedit opens an "Unsaved document" on opening files with mouse

when I open files by double-clicking the file with mouse I always get one additional "Unsaved Document X".. which is very annoying, because I have to close tham all, and click "Close without save"... it happens in dolphin, nautilus and krusader.
when I try opening a file from terminal using "gedit filename" that does not happen.
it also does not happen if I open the files from within gedit.
any hints on how to fix this?
    thank you

Gedit seems to display data from stdin in a new "Unsaved document". For example:
    echo "foobar" | gedit
To break the pipe opened by krusader, i replaced the command 'gedit %U' in krusader with this script:
    #!/bin/bash
    gedit $1 < /dev/null
man, you're a genius. thank you so much! :)
ps. perhaps a more global solution is right clicking Kmenu button -> edit applications -> find gedit there -> put "gedit $1 < /dev/null" in gedits command field -> save
    That's an amazing solution!
    Maybe better would be...
    gedit "$1" < /dev/null
(with the quotes). That way we prevent gedit to open two files with each non-spaced name in the case that our file name had blank spaces.
(gedit foo bar -->one file for 'foo' && one file for 'bar')
    Thank you,
    DaviD.

Due to some project demands, we installed Adobe CS back to 5.5 on a computer which has CS6.0 already installed. After the installation, everything worked in normal except one problem - we could not import SVG into FM file for all versions of FrameMaker on this computer.
Does the coexistence of CS 5.5 and 6.0 cause this issue? Or can CS 5.5 coexist with CS6.0 on a same machine? or any other reasons? Please comments!
