Looks like the problem is that

how do i fix this so it will work??
the other two domain controllers are running windows server 2003 32-bit operating systems.
could the cause of this problem be that the server 2012 is 64-bit and the server 2003 machines are 32-bit???

  • Network Location not showing domain name in Server 2012 R2 after demoting 2003 PDC

The single active NIC in my new Server 2012 R2 no longer shows the Network Location of "DOMAIN.LOCAL" like it did before I demoted the only Server 2003 domain controller. The NIC now shows "NETWORK" as the Network Location.
The registry still shows a Profile with the correct PROFILENAME in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
but that name does not show up in the Network List Manager Policies inside Local Security Policy.
The 2012 R2 Srv has all of the FSMO roles, Client PC's can connect to the domain but will not get new map drives from a script, they must be created manually. My Quickbooks Enterprise clients cannot see the QB Server Manager on this server and I think it
is related to this issue because of firewall restrictions.
The Windows Firewall pointed me in this direction because the "Private Networks" is connected to my NIC named "Network" but the Firewall "Domain Networks" is reported as "Not connected."

    Hi,
    Based on my research,
Network Location Awareness (NLA) service expects to be able to enumerate the
domain’s forest name to choose the right network profile for the connection. The service does this by calling
DsGetDcName on the forest root name and issuing an LDAP query on UDP port 389 to a root Domain Controller.
If something hinders the DNS name resolution or the connection attempt to the DC, NLA is not able to set the appropriate network profile on the connection.
Therefore, I suggest you check the DNS settings on DCs and other domain-joined machines, which should point to the existing DC as preferred DNS server, and secondary DC as alternate DNS server, IP address of demoted DC should be
removed. In addition, please do not use loopback IP address.
Here are some articles below I suggest you refer to:

in ical I just added new calendars to a pre-existing calendar group, I can make events with these calendars, but not reminders, any suggestions?

    Hi,
Lion has changed the way reminders (todos as was) work. They now seem to need to be in a seperate calendar.
In iCal open the File menu and select New Reminder List... and select where to put it.
    Best wishes

Adding New Customer Address to an Existing one
    Hi
We have a lot customers set up in Oracle and they only have a
ship to address and now we would like to add the bill to address
to these customers. Since there are a lot of customers I was
wondering is there is an open interface we can use to that.
    Thank you
    alpha

    Hi Chandu,
    1.In Infospoke -> General tab -> DataSouce(here infobject - 0BPARTNER).
    2.  Destination tab -> choose radio button(DB Table or Flat file).
    3. Goto tab infoobjects -> select required fields you want to send from left to right.
    4. Give the selection accordingly(here i think PATRNER). But it should be available in your datasouce(Infoobject-0BPARTNER), if you want to give selection on this. I didnt understad what you mean of <b>"hide"</b> in your previous reply. If this is not available in your infoobject(OBPARTNER), How CAN YOU GIVE SELECTION ON THIS attribute...?
    5. Try to add this field in Infoobject(0BPARTNER) and populate.
    6. Trnasformation tab.
Here you can see Source Structure, Target Structure and Addin implementation.
Source Structure - system will generate according to the field you selected in InfoObjects tab(You cant change it).
Target Structure - You can define your own structure if you want or you can modify the generated structure. By default system generates Target Structure same as Source structure(if you want to add any more fields you can add here, but you have to populate those fields with your own coding in BAdi), Which is Addin implementation.

  • Question on adding new server to existing pool in OVM 2.2 environment

I have an existing iscsi based server pool with one server attached to the pool. I am adding a second ovm server. I have configured the iscsi and multipath modules and can see the repository lun.
I then added the server to the pool via ovm manager, but the server is not fully participating as the agent did not create a mount point for /OVS so I can't see the repos directiories from the new server. A "df" does not show the device as it does on the first server.
The manager gui does show the server as part of the pool even though we received an error.
In the ovm manager log, we see the following messages.
Check prerequisites to add server (ovm2.highlinehosting.com) to server pool (san_pool1) succeed
During adding servers ([ovm2.domain.com]) to server pool (san_pool1), Cluster setup failed: (OVM-1011 OVM Manager communication with ovm1.domain.com for operation HA Setup for Oracle VM Agent 2.2.0 failed: errcode=00000, errmsg=Unexpected error: <Exception: ha_check_cpu_compatibility failed:<Exception: CPU not compatible! {'ovm1.domain.com': 'vendor_id=GenuineIntel;cpu_family=6;model=44', 'ovm2.highlinehosting.com': 'vendor_id=GenuineIntel;cpu_family=6;model=46'}> )
I'm not sure why it's complaining about cpu compatibility as we are not using any HA features at this time, and both servers are identical in make and model. They are both equipped with the same cpu type and speed.
I checked ocfs2 network connectivity by executing the command "nc -zv nodename 7777", which ran successfully from both nodes. The manager was able to propagate a valid cluster.conf file to both servers. I restarted the ovs-agent service on the new server.
Are there any other configuration steps that I need to take on the new server before trying to add it to the pool? I do need to tread carefully as I have live guests running in the pool.
    Thx

If I have to go the route of using a separate pool for each server, do you have any suggestions on how I would be able to access the repos of server1 from server2 if server1 were to go down hard? I don't mean to access it as a repos for running the vms, but just to be able to copy the vm files over to the running server. This would be possible if you were using NFS for your storage, but not if you're using FC or iSCSI, as the LUN is formatted with the OCFS2 cluster ID of each pool, so probably wouldn't be able to be mounted by another pool. Your best bet is to upgrade to Oracle VM 3.0 so that you can create a pool that contains both servers: you won't have live migration, but HA will still work just fine.

  • Existing 2003 forest functional level -- 2012 forest functional level in production environment?

    Hello experts!
A quick question if it can be one:
Is it possible to raise a forest functional level from 2003 to 2012 in a production environment (only 2003 DCs with existing roles to only 2012 DCs)?  If so, is there a standard implementation of the upgrade process
(migration of roles, migration tools, etc.)?
    many thanks!
    David

    hi,
    Thanks for posting.
Sorry i don't know if i am understanding your question. Are you talking about upgrading your DC's in your current forest to 2012 then raising the functional level?
If so, first of all you can only raise the forest and domain functional levels when all DC's in the forest and domain are at 2012 or higher.
To get your domain unto 2012 DC's there are a couple of paths you can adopt, but generally the simplest is:
    1. Introduce your first 2012 / 2012 R2 DC into your existing domain, this will extend the schema with the additional attributes that are required to 2012 - this is an automatic process during promotion of your first 2012 DC.
    2. Go through and start replacing your existing domain controllers. You don't normally do an inlace upgrade, the preferred method would be to use different hardware, built up the new DC to replace your existing one, then demote the existing one - keep going
through this process until all your DC's are 2012.
NB: which ever DC(s) currently holds the FSMO roles you will need to transfer these to one of your new 2012 DC's before you decommission that one.
if i've got what you were asking wrong, please let me know, otherwise hopefully this helps.

  • New server 2012 - some NT4 /98/W2K clients

    Hi,
Have a bit of a challenge here.... I have a scenario were we are running a full 2003 AD with 2003R2 DC and a couple of virtual servers...
Time has come to move forward and upgrade to 2012 seems like the only option using Hyper-V. The particular scenario has a big challenge: more than 50 machines with legacy machines running from NT4, Windows 98, Windows 2000 pro...
Getting rid of these machines is just not an option. They will have to dump data to shared folders with lots of security permissions configured.
Will NT4 be able to authenticate to 2012 DC (I would be very surprised)? If not,
Should I create  a new domain and leave the machines authenticating on the old domain.
    Would a trust work 2003 <--> 2012?
If a trust works, What would be the minimum AD level on the 2012 server?
The challenge is really to have a modern infrastructure running Hyper-V for the more modern clients, but, at the same time, to keep those really old machines running...
Thanks for sharing your ideas on this!

    Hi
This is tricky, for sure you will not have definite answer, and for sure you will encounter some problems, i know this from same case but with server 2008 dc, i recommend that you set up lab and test it thoroughly.
Getting rid of these machines is just not an option?
Why, maybe this is the easiest and best way to go. Probably someone should have done it long ago
Yes you can create  a new domain and leave the machines authenticating on the old domain, but that i think will just prolong inevitable, saying bye to the old os's.
Yes you can create trust between server 2003 domain and server 2012 domain
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738955(v=ws.10).aspx
Windows Server 2012 requires a Windows Server 2003 forest functional level
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771294.aspx
And at last you can't have modern infrastructure and at the same time have those really old machines running... :)

  • New Server 2012 install - Active Directory not working properly

We recently converted from 2003 to 2012. Our 2012 R2 server seems to be running fine. We did a DCPROMO on the OLD 2003 DC just fine but now there are all sorts of odd errors (Sharepoint can't authenticate users, Can't run Exchange 2013 on another 2012 server
because it can't find AD, etc.)
on the DC we have a Group Policy error 1096. "Group Policy Object LDAP://CN=User,cn={2B476B3E-2749-4B1B-8EC1-F5672A66F94F},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=mydom,DC=local\\mydom.local\SysVol\mydom.local\Policies\{2B476B3E-2749-4B1B-8EC1-F5672A66F94F}\User\registry.pol"
So far I haven't found anything on how to fix this (and the AD itself.) There are some errors in the DCDIAG log, too:
          Starting test: NetLogons
Unable to connect to the NETLOGON share! (\\ISD-DC1\netlogon)
[ISD-DC1] An net use or LsaPolicy operation failed with error 67,
The network name cannot be found..
    Starting test: FrsEvent
There are warning or error events within the last 24 hours after the
SYSVOL has been shared.  Failing SYSVOL replication problems may cause
             Group Policy problems.
Any suggestions how we can fix these errors are greatly appreciated!

  • New Server 2012 R2 server to take over for 2008 R2 - confused about alias necessity

    Hello,
Have Server 2008 R2 running in a small environment (35 users).  It was time to get new hardware and it has been setup with Server 2012 R2.  Already promoted to DC and running DNS.  Ready to transfer FSMO roles over to the 2012 R2 server.
    My concern/confusion comes here:
Users have network drives mapped to old server (i.e.
    \\dc1\share)
New servername is for instance "dc2"
Do I demote dc1, remove it from the environment and create an alias named dc1 pointing to dc2, thus, networked drives and network printer shares continue to work, or is there a better way to do this?
    thanks

imho just update mapped drives using gpo and that's all
if you have just one server for all stuff, don't demote old one , keep 2 servers alive (if you can, I don't know, maybe you need give old one away) and you will have redundancy. Then if you got 2 servers do DFS shares (shares will have names not bind
to servers name so you can add, replace server's with no problems and have redundancy of shared folders too)

  • Adding SQL Server 2012 to PD 16.0

The latest version of SQL Server supported in PD 16.0 is 2008. What is the process / where / how do I obtain the database configuration file for SQL Server 2012.
    Thanks

    Hi,
PD16.0 support stopped before sql server 2012 was officially out...
You may find the xdb (configuration file) from a PD16.5SP03 trial and check the difference with the 2008 to create your own xdb.
But it will not be supported by SAP.
Best solutionis to upgrade to PowerDesigner 16.5 SP3 which have support for sql server 2012.

  • New Server 2012 -- Network Location Awareness & Power Failure

Could you try setting up a dependency or delay on the boot? This would be more of a temporary solution, but should help you confirm that the only issue was with communication with the DC.

Hello everyone,This is kind of a mixed question of AD/Domain/GPO, Server 2012 R2 Standard, Windows 7 clients, and File Sharing.. please bare with me.We had an interesting event this morning..We have a 2012 R2 STD member file server on the domain. We had a total power failure, and I believe the file server came up faster than any domain controller. Anyhow, we couldn't access the shares on the server. Upon further investigation, I saw that the network location on the file server was 'unknown' and decided to restart the server. After that, it went back to its domain profile. Are there any known solutions to this scenario? Can I force the server to use the domain profile at all times? I've briefly read about the local GP edit trick, but haven't tried it out yet. Apparently, you can allow changes to adapter profiles, and then manually set...

  • Adding new airport extreme to an existing airport express network...

i currently have a home airport network comprising two airport express units; one attached to the cable modem in the bedroom and the other downstairs in my study (extending the existing network and feeding a shared USB printer and airtunes speakers). i've recently bought an airport extreme, to improve network performance. i also plan to add a NAS in the next week or so.
ideally i'd like to situate the new airport extreme in the study, as i don't want to have to keep the NAS in my bedroom!
my question is this, if i add the new airport extreme to the existing airport network, will i see the benefit of the 802.11n connection, or should the extreme be set up as the primary base station?

... will i see slower transfer speeds (than if it was connected to the extreme) to / from the NAS when accessing it wirelessly from elsewhere in the house?
No. The transfer speed will be limited by the slowest connection, which is almost certainly your wireless connection speed.
If you buy a switch, buy a gigabit switch. Not because a slower one will limit your transfer speed, but because the Extreme is Gigabit and any newer equipment is likely to be as well. The advantage would only be relevant to the wired LAN.
The Express's Ethernet is not Gigabit but there is no reason for it to be, since it cannot connect to anything other than a slower wireless connection anyway.

  • New Server 2012 R2 Getting AD / SYSVOL Mismatch

I just loaded up a fresh copy of Server 2012 R2 in VMWare and made it a Domain Controller.  To get a feeling of it before I deploy it.
All the Windows updates have been done.
Ran the Group Policy Results Wizard and got these alerts.

Default Domain Policy  Alert: AD / SYSVOL Version Mismatch
I found that there is a hot fix for this for Server 2012.

But when I run the hot fix it tells me that "The update is not applicable to your computer"

  • New Server 2012 R2 virtual servers seem slow, how to tell if it's Windows or underlying VM host?

We recently created two virtual Server 2012 R2 boxes, but the server seems rather pokey on a Remote Desktop session to it.  Task Manager doesn't show high processor usage (it reports 2.26GHz, 2 sockets, 4 virtual processors, virtual machine yes, L1
cache N/A", memory is usually around 11%, and not a concerning amount of network traffic.
Since both servers are pokey, I'm thinking that the issue may be in the VMware side, or the hard drives this is running off of are slow, or something not at the OS level.  But how can I confirm that, or at least say that without a doubt it has nothing
    to do with Windows?

    Hi RJO22,
    >>Task Manager doesn't show high processor usage (it reports 2.26GHz,
    2 sockets, 4 virtual processors,
It seems that the VM spanned two NUMA nodes .
Is there any other VM show the processor usage ( 1 socket ) ?
