Adding OR condition gives ORA-00920 error
I am trying to write a xquery like this -
for $VAR3 in document("DS")/db/V_ViewName where (($VAR3/CODE eq $#PARAM of type xs:string) or (xf:empty($#PARAM of type xs:string)))
return
<stuff>
<stuff_name>{ treat as xs:string(xf:data($VAR3/STUFF_NAME)) }</stuff_name>
</stuff>
But when I run the query in data view builder I get the following error -
RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: EJB Exception:; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: Query Execution Error (Run Time) 1-2-3-9: Problem while accessing relational database. (com.enosysmarkets.xmediator.wrappers.rdbwrapper.cursormgr.CursorManagerException:
(1-1)JDBC error occured:
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00920: invalid relational operator
Why isn't this kind of query allowed?
When an empty query param is passed I want it to return all the rows from the view.
It should ignore the "where" if param is empty.
Any clues?

This is CR185494 on LD8.1 - Bad sql generated when a condition is folded into a boolean and pushed to a database.
I will email the patch.

CTX_DDL.SYNC_INDEX gives ORA-03113 error
I am trying to use the CTX_DDL.SYNC_INDEX command in order to update the full Text Index on a table, which contains a word document as a binary object, but I get an ORA-03113 error every time I do this. I get the same error if the table contains an Excel file. It works perfectly OK if the table contains simple text files.
Hi Barbara - thanks for your response.
In answer to your questions;
Oracle version is 9.2.0.1.0
Table structure is created with following sql;
CREATE TABLE DOCUMENTFILE
(DOCUMENTFILEID NUMBER (10,0) NOT NULL,
DATA LONG RAW,
FILE_SIZE NUMBER (10,0),
FILENAME VARCHAR2 (510),
ENCRYPTIONKEY VARCHAR2 (100),
VALIDATIONKEY VARCHAR2 (100),
MIMETYPE VARCHAR2 (255),
FILEEXTENSION CHAR (3),
DELETED NUMBER (1,0)
Index is created with following command
CREATE INDEX ORGANISATION_TEXT_INDEX
ON COLLABORATOR.ORGANISATION(ORGANISATION_NAME)
INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT PARAMETERS ('');
Resync command is as follows
EXEC CTX_DDL.SYNC_INDEX('DOCUMENT_TEXT_INDEX');
I am testing by runing the command via SQL Plus
In response to question 'Are you using inso_filter or auto_filter? ' - I dont know

Please suggest.Umesh,
Since it is case of Ora 600, for which only last solution is oracle support, but i would like to mention that your are getting ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [4193].... So, this 4193 is cause to read following links too:
http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/47048/2/ and. see Metalink note 153788.1 and 39282.1.

Hi
I want to let you know, that sometimes APEX 3.1.2.00.0 creates invalid export file.
Older apex 3.0 created correct file.
For example: our application has page button, where "Optional URL Redirect" is:
Page: &APP_PAGE_ID.
Request: FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R11531800061044170_et
If we export application into file f110.sql and try to import it to the same workspace on the same server, we get error:
{color:#0000ff}ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-06550: line 28, column 111: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "_" when expecting one of the following: ) , * & | = - + < / > at in is mod remainder not rem => .. <an exponent (**)> <> or != or ~= >= <= <> and or like LIKE2_ LIKE4_ LIKEC_ as between from using || multiset member SUBMULTISET_ The symbol &a
{color}In exported f110.sql file the invalid section is:
{color:#0000ff}wwv_flow_api.create_page_branch(
p_id=>11762805016890347 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
p_flow_id=> wwv_flow.g_flow_id,
p_flow_step_id=> 4,
p_branch_action=> 'f?p=&APP_ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R'||to_char({color}{color:#0000ff}{color:#ff0000}*10255206661122183_et*{color}+wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset)||':&DEBUG.:::',
p_branch_point=> 'AFTER_PROCESSING',
p_branch_type=> 'REDIRECT_URL',
p_branch_when_button_id=>11761415275883875+ wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
p_branch_sequence=> 10,
p_branch_comment=> 'Created 20-JUUNI-2008 12:05 by XXXX');{color}
If we exported the same application in apex 3.0, this section was correct:
{color:#0000ff}wwv_flow_api.create_page_branch(
p_id=>11762805016890347 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
p_flow_id=> wwv_flow.g_flow_id,
p_flow_step_id=> 4,
p_branch_action=> 'f?p=&APP_ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R*10255206661122183_et*:&DEBUG.:::',
p_branch_point=> 'AFTER_PROCESSING',
p_branch_type=> 'REDIRECT_URL',
p_branch_when_button_id=>11761415275883875+ wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,
p_branch_sequence=> 10,
p_branch_comment=> 'Created 20-JUUNI-2008 12:05 by XXXX');{color}
Best Regards,
TõnuThanks for pointing that out. We'll fix it. It does appear though, that in 3.0, the offset would not be added to the number part of the request value, so if you installed the application as a different application ID or into a different workspace, the request would have failed.

Call a storedprocedure with CLOB input parameter gives ORA-24811 error
Hi all,
I am calling a storedprocedure from VB using ADO and OraOLEDB. Calling stored procedure as mention in OraOLED documentation.
The procedure accepts a varchar and a CLOB parameter.
While executing the store procedure its throw an error as Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-24811
Then I executed a storeprocedure with only one CLOB out parameter. It is working fine.

EA1 - Export result of query to clipboard gives ORA-00904 error
I ran the following SQL in a SQL Developer worksheet:
create table EXTCHAR_TEST (TEST_COL VARCHAR2(2000));

insert into EXTCHAR_TEST(TEST_COL) values ('(UTF-8) ŁłŃńŅņŇňʼnŊŋŌōŎŏŐőŒœŔŕŖŗŘřŚ');

select TEST_COL, DUMP(TEST_COL,1016) from EXTCHAR_TEST;
I then tried to right-click on the results and export them as CSV to the clipboard. Whenever I try this (possibly other ways too, I haven't tried) I get this error:

Edited by: gclough on Sep 28, 2009 4:03 PMHi Barry,
I think I'm using the latest "EA1" version, which I downloaded from here:
[http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index21_EA1.html]
I have just confirmed using the sample script, that the problem still exists. I was connected to a v9.2.0.5.0 database... if that makes any difference.
* Run SQL
* Right-Click on results
* Export Data -> csv...
* Clipboard
* Click "Apply"
* Error... :-(

I have Oracle 9i Release 2 on NT 4 box. I am attempting to connect to an Oracle 8i Database via a database link. I am able to connect to the database using my username and password throught Toad. I can see the tables that I am trying to query through the link. I have tested the service through the Oracle Net Manager and it was successful. Anytime I try to use the database link, I get the "ORA-12535 TNS: Operation timed out" message. Does anyone know if this is a bug in Oracle 9i Release 2 since the link worked in Oracle 9i Release 1? Is there a workaround for this problem?

You must have defined DGPAPROD.WORLD in tnsnames.oar on server where you DB is runnig.Hello there,
Thanks a lot for this nice solution. In fact I had to add the connection parameters into the tnsnames.ora file of the server on which the link was created (not the tnsnames.ora of my oracle client stored on the localhost)
After a bit googling I found another solution that allows to create the database link:
CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK SR001_dblink CONNECT TO user IDENTIFIED BY password USING '(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (COMMUNITY=tcp.world)
(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=ip_adresse)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = GPAPROD)))';Thanks a lot for your help!
Kind Regards,

Formula variable used in exception and condition - gives a check error
The same formula variable is used in a condition and exception within a query. When I click on "check", I get the message "Variable <myvar> Is Used By More Than One Infoobject". The variable is a formula variable, processed by User Entry/Default Value, with optional entry, ready for input, Dimension "number", default value -0.01. However, the query still saves, generates and executes without problem.
This is with BW 7.0, SP 14. And with query designer 3.5, version 3500.7.572
I'd be grateful if a few people could try to reproduce this, letting me know their version. To reproduce it:
Create a query. Create formula variable processed by User Entry/Default Value, with optional entry, ready for input, Dimension "number", default value -0.01. Create a condition using the variable. Create an exception using the variable. Click on Check. Save and execute the query.
Thanks
MattIt is a warning and you can ignore it , if in query execution you get correct result / output...(then it implies u r on safe side)
But if you are so much concerned about warning then as a workaround just create another Formulae variable and use it in Condition and use the previous formulae variable for Exception.
This way you will have 2 variables for 2 different purposes
and you will get rid of the warning message.
So far if you get the correct output of query then there is no need to worry.

Gives ORA-12154 error, when trying to connect as sysdba
Hi Gurus,
I am new to oracle. I have successfully install Oracle Database 10gR2 on RHEL4.
Everyghing is working fine.
I found that loging through sqlplus not success as sysdba.(ORA-12154) But as a normal user I can loging through sqlplus. Anyway I can loging as sysdba through emctl console.
Can anyone help on this pls. Urgent.......................You're welcome.
I dont know how this happened Probably your old password had some special characters within it, that's why I wanted to know if connecting without password did work. Then I would have advised you to change your password (avoiding special characters...). -
i have installed Oracle 8.1.5 Server on Windows 2000 Server, the installation goes well, i have created Database ORCL, now when i connect it it gives ORA-12638 Error however i am able to solve it by modifiying the sqlnet.ora
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
but now again i am getting error when i go to SVRMGRL and start the Database with STATUP option it gives error
ORA-00205.
now when i see the Control files there is no Control file over there as mentioned in INIT.ORA file.
Pl. tell where is the ProblemIt seems that the controlfiles are missing from the location.
See, if they are are moved or renamed by mistake. If so, then, move them to the exact location, mentioned in init.ora file.
If not, you can always create a new controlfile, refer oracle docs on how to create a new controlfile.

Error: ORA-00920: invalid relational operator (WWV-16016)
Hi,
When I try to query in the form, I'm getting the following error
An unexpected error occurred: ORA-00920: invalid relational operator (WWV-16016).
The form has a field of type varchar2 with lov attached to it. This error is happening only if I enter characters more than 40 or select a value which has more than 40 characters from the lov.
Anbody had this problem?..Is there a solution for this?..Help would be appreciated.
Thanks
PJI figured out the problem and it seems like if the value has any 'IN' or 'BETWEEN' and try to query this error is happening and it's not because of character length. I think Portal assumes that relational operator is entered and tries to query based on those words. Is it a bug in the Portal?..
Thanks

Running a Disciverer report gives the following error ORA-20001
While running one of the discoverer reports under a certain responsibility i got the following error
ORA-20001: Oracle error -20001: ORA-20001: Error occurred during product initialization for MO when executing 'begin MO_GLOBAL.INIT; end;'. running reports under different responsibilities does give any errors ,
Any suggestions why ?ORA-20001 isn't an Oracle error message it was coded into your application by a developer: Look it up.
Consider too the following:
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN NULL;so if the employee identifier is not found ... is this really what you want? If an employee isn't valid shouldn't you know it? -
Gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing oracle 10g
I tried to install oracle 10g r2 in server 2008. but it gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing. how I can fix this issue??? please help me ASAP. because its urgent.
thanks in advance.
chamaraWelcome to the forums !
Pl indicate which version of 10g you are installing and on which version of Win 2008. Neither 10gR1 nor 10gR2 are certified to be installed on Win 2008 R1, AFAIK.
For 10gR2, only 10.2.0.5 is certified for Win 2008 R2 - see MOS Doc 1173433.1 (How to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 / Windows 2008R2)
Also see MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?).
Both 10gR1 and 10gR2 are now in extended support - is there a reason you are not using 11gR2 ?

Create database fails with error ORA-01505: error in adding log files
hi all,
hope someone can help me out, I'm trying to create a database using a SQL script, the content of the script is:
create database testora
user sys identified by oracle
user system identified by oracle
logfile group 1 ('/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo01a.log', '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo01b.log') size 100m blocksize 512 reuse,
group 2 ('/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo02a.log', '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo02b.log') size 100m blocksize 512 reuse,
group 3 ('/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo03a.log', '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/testora/redo03b.log') size 100m blocksize 512 reuse,
maxlogfiles 5
maxlogmembers 5
maxdatafiles 100
character set US7ASCII
national character set AL16UTF16
extent management local
datafile '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/system01.dbf' size 400m reuse
sysaux datafile '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/sysaux01.dbf' size 400m reuse
default tablespace users
datafile '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/testora/users01.dbf' size 500m reuse autoextend on maxsize unlimited
default temporary tablespace tempts1
tempfile '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/temp01.dbf' size 20m reuse autoextend on maxsize 4g
undo tablespace undotbs1
datafile '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/testora/undotbs01.dbf' size 200m reuse autoextend on maxsize unlimited
It fails in creating the database with the following output:
SQL> @/home/oracle/Oracle_Scripts/testora_db_script.sql
create database testora

ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced

ORA-01505: error in adding log files
ORA-01184: logfile group 1 already exists
Process ID: 3486
Session ID: 1 Serial number: 3sorry to revive this thread but i have one more issue with this. I created a database with DBCA insetead of CREATE DATABASE command and selected option for Fast Recovery Area space. This automatically set initialization parameter db_recovery_file_dest and db_recovery_file_dest_size, but did not create a OMF redo log group, but instead created three redo log groups with 1 member each.
select * from v$logfile returns:
1 ONLINE /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo01.log NO
2 ONLINE /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo02.log NO
3 ONLINE /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo03.log NO
Any idea why if creating a database with create database command and specifying db_recovery_file_dest creates an OMF redo log group and with DBCA it doesn't?
