Addition of fields in ODS/Cube till Datasource

Hi All
Assuming, I hv a Datasource/copa Datasource replicated and connected till Cube/ODS with data in it,,and Now I am in a need to add extra fields in this pipeline, So plz guide me, on to add these extra fields starting from Datasources,Infosources,Info objects, Transformations(BI 7.0),TransferRules/Update Rules(BW 3.5) if any,,,and then finally Data targets.(ODS & CUBE)??

Data Extraction and ODS/Cube loading: New date key field added

Good morning.
Your expert advise is required with the following:
1. A data extract was done previously from a source with a full upload to the ODS and cube. An event is triggered from the source when data is available and then the process chain will first clear all the data in the ODS and cube and then reload, activate etc.
2. In the ODS, the 'forecast period' field was now moved from data fields to 'Key field' as the user would like to report per period in future. The source will in future only provide the data for a specific period and not all the data as before.
3) Data must be appended in future.
4) the current InfoPackage in the ODS is a full upload.
5) The 'old' data in the ODS and cube must not be deleted as the source cannot provide it again. They will report on the data per forecast period key in future.
I am not sure what to do in BW as far as the InfoPackages are concerned, loading the data and updating the cube.
My questions are:
Q1) How will I ensure that BW will append the data for each forecast period to the ODS and cube in future? What do I check in the InfoPackages?
Q2) I have now removed the process chain event that used to delete the data in the ODS and cube before reloading it again. Was that the right thing to do?

-->> Try to load data into ODS in Overwrite mode full update asbefore(adds new records and changes previous records with latest). Pust delta from this ODS to CUBE.
If existing ODS loading in addition, introduce one more ODS with same granularity of source and load in Overwrite mode if possible delta or Full and push delta only subsequently.
Q2) I have now removed the process chain event that used to delete the data in the ODS and cube before reloading it again. Was that the right thing to do?
--> Yes, It is correct. Otherwise you will loose historic data.

The Creation of Export DataSource Failed Error while transporting ODS Cube

Hi All,
I am facing this issue from last 1 week.. i had developed an ODS cube in APO-DP BW which will fetch data from SAP R/3 and its working fine in APO Dev Server. But when i transport this cube into APO PAC(Prodn Server) the below error i am getting..
   Start of the after-import method RS_ODSO_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) ODSO (Activation Mode)
   The creation of the export DataSource failed
   Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts
   Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts
   Error when creating the export DataSource and dependent Objects
   Error when activating DataStore Object ZANAUTSL
I also updated the transport conversion tables but still problem not resolved.
Immediate help is hightly appreciated.

Hi AJ,
Looking at your error, it seems that the RFC user's password is locked and hence connectivity from R/3 towards APO BW is broken.
You know the name of your export datasource (from R/3 to APO BW). Find out the name of your R/3 source system e.g. PACCLT000, by scrolling to the right against teh export data source.
Take help of your Basis or EAI team to identify the RFC destination corresponding to the connectivity from the R/3 source system (PACCLT000) to your APO BW system. (If needed ask for help from your BW team, I am not very sure how connectivity would be set up from R/3 to APO BW, I guess this would be independent from CIF connectivity)
For this RFC connection from R/3 to APO BW, see which RFC user is maintained in SM59 in APO and ask your security team to reset (or unlock) the password of this RFC user in R/3, and then if required update the user password details in SM59 in APO also.
After this, your issue should get resolved.

Addition of new field in existing cube which has data?

I Have service provider field in ods and which is populating data on daily basis.
Now I need to populate that field into cube and then reportingu2026u2026..
For this do I need to delete the data from the cube and add that new field and need to load the last 6 month data? Or else with out doing deletion of data can I add a field in cube?

Remodeling is a new concept introduced in BI 2004s to manage changes to the structure effectively in an infoprovider, where the data is loaded and running. As of now we can make changes to the Infocube only. The same would be extended to the DSO and InfoObject in the future releases.
Before you proceed to experience the remodeling process, letu2019s bear in mind few of the golden rules given by SAP.
--> As a precaution, make a back-up of your data before you start remodeling.
Before you start remodeling, make sure:
--> You have stopped any process chains that run periodically and affect the corresponding InfoProvider.
--> Do not restart these process chains until remodeling is finished. There is enough available table space on the database.
--> After remodeling, check which BI objects that are connected to the InfoProvider (transformation rules, Multiproviders, queries and so on) have been deactivated. You have to reactivate these objects manually.
You can go for remodelling. If you still have doubt, try the same in your Sandbox and repeat the process in Production as you are saying you have time of 1week.

Access to unmapped field of ODS in the update rule of CUBE

Hi Gurus,
I have 8 fields in ODS out of which only 5 are mapped to the characteristics in the CUBE. I have to write a start routine in the update rules of the cube. But, I need to access one field, which is in ODS but not mapped to characteristic in the cube.
So, is it possible to use that field in the logic of start routine. Or do I have to create a new characteristic in the CUBE for that 6th field also.

You certaily should insert your infobject field in the cube to populate it. After This you can choose if populate it by direct mapping or by routine.(start routine or transfer routine)
A classic example of start routine to populate infobject from master data
tables : /bi0/pcostcenter.
data : lt_data_package like DATA_PACKAGE occurs 0 with header line,
lt_costcenter like /bi0/pcostcenter occurs 0 with header line.

Addition of a field in a cube

I would like to know if I can add a field in a cube without deleting the data as I dont want previous data for this added field. I am just interested in the new data coming through Delta in the cube.

Hi Kate,
You can proceed without deleting the data if you have the liberty of adding a new dimension and putting this char in the new dimension.
If this is not possible then you can refer to the loopback process: create new cube > move data to the new cube > delete data from old cube > change and activate old cube > move data back to original cube.

There is one cube in which i have to create one field which field is already in the source but not in the target level and the most importantly this cube is working cube data is loadng into it i we have to remodle this cube
so can any body tell without any distubance how we can add this fiel into the cube and map with the source and finally reflect in

Hi Gurkiran,
You don't mention your BW release, if you have 7.x then there is a remodeling function to do this, just GOTO
RSA1, right click on the cube, select 'additional functions' and then you have the 'remodeling' option.
If you have a 3.x release then you could have the problem that there is an inconsistency between the
DB and the ABAP dictionary if you try and add a field to a cube that has data already, in this case
it is better create a copy of the cube, generate an export datasource on the cube and load the data
to the copy cube, then delete the data from your original cube, make the change of adding the field
and then load the data back from the copy cube.

Hi Pooja
Delta capable is based on datasource but not on ODS or cube.
You can get this info from ROOSOURCE table,give data source name and check the field "DELTA".
If the field is left blank,it implies that the datasource is not delta capable.

Simple: 0RECORDMode field in ods

I am working to extract the data from 0FI_AA_11 datasource to ods, but i do not see the ROCANCEL FIELD in r/3 datasource to map it to 0recordmode field in ods.
1. please confirm if it is required to generate that field in datasource by activation of any BADI or what should i map to 0recordmode. and
2. please tell if any of the ods does not have 0recordmode then what is the impact?
3 i checked in ods where i will find or add the 0recordmode in ods wether it should be in data field or key fields
please tell me if it is a must to have this 0recordmode in ods if i have ods in my design and i use delta if yes what to map it if ro cancel is not there in r3 datasource

I think it delivers after images only, so no 0recordmode and not suited for direct cube load

Hi,
Its possible to have that many fields in the cube, but you have to consider what the reporting requirements are and how the data is connected, etc. You also have to consider how much data volume is going to be generated and at what level you are going to store the data in the cube. If your client is suggesting you to have line item level or granular data in your cube , suggest to them to have that in an ODS and provide jump queries from the cube to the ODS if necessary.
If many of the fields are not going to be required for reporting at present or in the future, suggest to the client to have them in the ODS and a smaller subset of the fields in the cubes.

Adding new fields to existing cube

Hi all,
We have a cube with data, now we added 2 new fields to the datasource. And want to add two more fields in the Cube to correspond to the new fields. What would be the impact on the data that is already there in the cube? Can I go ahead and add the fields in the cube and start extracting data? What I want to know is what would be the implications in such a scenario?
Any insight or help would be appreciated and fully rewarded.

Hi,
At least from the experience I had there were no performance issues. The only issue would be in terms of the time taken to transport. The larger the amount of data ,longer the transport time.
You can continue extraction of data for those 2 fields from that point on. No need to empty the data from the cube and reload again. Only thing is that the data in the past for these 2 fields may not be mapped to the existing data in the cube. If you want to do that dump the cube and reload. Otherwise the data will be mapped from the time you start extracting the new fields with the data in the cube.

I need your quick suggestion, how to create Function module and Write the code for a datasource. I want to add fiscalyear./period field in one of the datasource. please tell the logic which field and what table i will pick that. can you tell me the steps if i can create the function module and make alll enhancements in that FM for that datasource. Please write me quick step by step starting from se37 to create FM.
also if you have any abap code to add fiscalyear./period in datasource.

No need - just add fiscal year period to your cube and assign it cal day/posting date - whatever you want to calculate the fiscal period
Then the automatic time conversion will take care of the rest
You will need the fiscal year variant - if you don't have this - get it from the Company Code table in R3 (T001 or similar)

Adding fields to 0IC_C03 cube

Hi friends,
I have to add some fields into 0IC_C03 cube. The fields are reson for movement ,special stock indicator,sales order etc. They are cmg in the datasource 2lis_03_bf. I did add them and load the data , but the data was not coming properly. Is there any other method by which i can make use of these fields without adding them in the cube and make a multiprovider on that. I need to have the customer field also. Will this data come if i make a multiprovider on top of this . Can i make a generic datasource from the table which is giving these fields and make a DSO with these fields and make a multiprovider on it.
Will the key date concept work on this .

Repair FULL to ODS - Cube Data Inconsistent

we have loaded Data into a Historical cube that maintains a " monthwise version " of all data loaded into an Z-R/3 table .The flow is from R/3 table -> ODS - > CUBE . First we did
Initialization and then delta's were running fine for next few months .
one fine day in NOVEMBER, we realised that the data in R/3 and BW was not matching cause
user's were changing the R/3 table from the table maintenance generator and no DATE/TIME
field was getting affected ,so no DELTA was being triggered .
Now we had to correct this NOVEMBER DATA with out affecting the for data older "month versions " which is perfectly alright. This delta data was not available in PSA or RSA7 .
P.S : The " month version " is created at the first load ( i.e on the first of every month ).
If we extract from our infopackage by using selection criteria (by using "november month
version " the complete delta process / earlier monthly versions would be gone( again we need to do reinitialize).
So we changed the load from r/3 to ODS from DAILY DELTA to DAILY FULL REPAIR REQUEST( also
cause NO DELTA MECHANISM WAS GETTING TRIGGERED INCASE OF CHANGES IN TABLE MAINTENNACE) ..i
guess the developer here did a selective deletion from ODS & CUBE before running a "FULL REPAIR REQUEST " .However , the i believe that the activation queue and the ChangeLog remain unchanged during the selective deletion of the data from the ODS , so although the DATA in ODS is CORRECT and has been Updated into the CUBE ..but CUBE DATA IS STILL INCORRECT
Can any of you experts please please help me resolve this issue .

When you do activation after selective upload, the entries will be created in Change log table. So those entries are used as delta . When you are doing Repair request system sends the records as New records.So these records will reach to Change log and Cube as New records only.
So every thing works perfectly,no need to changed the load from r/3 to ODS from DAILY DELTA to DAILY FULL REPAIR REQUEST.
