Address book print command pulls other info into address
When I set up to print labels from the address book, it pulls other family member names into the first line of the address even tho they are not part of the contacts name. Any way to avoid this?
The only way to avoid this is to not have that other information in the Contact. I think this document explains it pretty well: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3952

Entering passwords and other info into Terminal
So, here is the deal. I'm writing a script that automates a process that uses a shell script through Terminal. It takes an external hard drive, splits it into a bunch of partitions and restores disk images to those partitions. When it does this it prompts for the password and then sees how many dmgs are in the folder and makes that many partitions and it prompts for the size I want each of those partitions to be. Instead of putting the password and all the partition sizes into the AppleScript is there a way to make it pop up every time Terminal needs a piece of info?

Not easily. Terminal.app's do script does little more than just blindly typing whatever you specify into the current window. There's no context of what the shell is currently doing (e.g. waiting for input) so it's hard to know when you should pop-up
To do what you want you'd have to periodically poll the current window, grabbing its contents, then looking at the last paragraph to see if it matches a particular string, then react accordingly. Tricky, at best
However, that might not be necessary. It may be possible to ask all the questions you want up-front so that your script has all the data, then you could send all the commands at once, or use AppleScript's built-in do shell script command to execute the commands serially. You'd lose the interactive nature of the script if you take this second approach, but it might be easier.
The concept could work something like:

Of course, you could add extra logic to ensure the partition size is at least as big as the diskImage (and you could also count the disk images in the folder as opposed to all files like I do now). -

I am trying to get some other resource attributes from LDAP,These attributes are mapped in the resource schema.If you try to create a user report,then u will see some attributes that can be displayed,

to change descriptions dynamically based on some conditions
crtate text variable with replacement path. in context menu of info object u will find properties there beside description field there is one yellow color icon click on that and create one variable with replacement path.
this will replace with some other char variable in ur report.
based on conditions u require create one char var. and replace text var with this char var.

Pulling GL_ACCOUNT info into Sales Billing Report(based on VDITM)
Dear all,
I want populate profit center(this I can get from mat_plant attribute) and gl_account in the Report.
My problem is how do I get the join condition between general ledger data and vditm to get the GL_ACCOUNT for each billing item.

You directly have the VBRP-PRCTR profit center in the 13_VDITM ,
And one possible way of getting the GL Account in the billibg extractor is , Billing item table has sales document in it VBRP-AUBEL and , FI-AR table BSID also have Sales Doc with GL Account , may you can can give a try with this realtion
or as a alternate you can try a look up from DSO 0FIAR_O03 in BI which will have sales doc and GL Account

Iphoto will not print and the print command freezes my computer. Help!
I cannot print from iPhoto. When I give the print command my cursor turns into a pinwheel and freezes my computer.
Apparently there's some preference files other than iPhoto's that may be causing the problem. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
Trouble Shooting Preferences
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks or Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Home/Library folder and Option-drag (copy) the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
3 - select the contents of your Home/Library/Preferences folder and drag them into the Trash bin in the Dock. You will be asked to provide your Admin password.
4 - reboot. Be sure to know your account's username and password as you will be asked to log in with it.
5 - run the application again and determine if the problem(s) is fixed.
6 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
B - Open the Preferences folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace or Skip button.
D - reboot.
7 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the contents of the Preference folder on the Desktop into the Home/Library/Preference folder and replace the entire contents that were created by clicking on Replace.
8 - reboot and you're back as square one.
Note: keep the Preference folder on the desktop until you're sure all registration info for your apps are working. If not you can copy the required files from the desktop pref folder to the working one. -
In Contacts version 8, how can I print ALL information in each individual card? When I select the print command the only thing printed is the name and address. I need phone number(s) and all other information in the cards. We enter various pieces of data, other than the standard name address & phone numbers and we print all information on each card so it fits in a 5x7 inch loose binder. We have used InTouch software for many years and it has served us extremely welll, however, the publisher (The Prairie Group) has not, and apparently has no plans to update their software to be compatible with any Mac OSX OS beyond 10.6. Any help will be appreciated!
You can select what you want included in a list format. In the Print command from Contacts, click the Show Details button. Then in the Style pulldown menu select "Lists" and there you'll be able to select what you want included. You can also select what you wish included if you select the Pocket Address Book style.
If neither of those options will work for you, then you will need to look to third-party software. Here's one possibility that seems to get good reviews:

I haven't done more than try it to make sure that it works with OS X 10.9's Contacts, which it does, but you can download their demo and try it yourself.

Can I sync Address Book and iCal to put contact info into iCal?
I use Address Book as a contact/customer list and use iCal to prepare my schedule for work. I usually type in the name of the customer I want to see in iCal. Is there anyway to import or drag names out of Address Book into iCal so the location & contact info will be included? I don't want to invite the customer. I just want to input the info into iCal so I don't have retype a name that is already in my Address Book.
If I have customer "xxx" in Adress Book and I am planning on visiting this customer tomorrow. Is there anyway for me to transfer/import this info to iCal without physically typing "xxx"? When I look at my appointment I would love to see the contact info for "xxx" in iCal when I click on individual appointments.

You can link to the Address Book entry with a URL. is there a program that allows you to scan business card info into the Mac Address Book using a macbook pro or iMac built-in camera? I know there are programs for the iphone and ipad, but what about norma computer users? It seems like the Address Book should have this capability since all macs have a built in camera.
Address Book can import files in several formats, including CSV, in which format Numbers can Export a file.
If the columns in your numbers file are not labeled in row 1, start by adding a row to the top of the table and entering an identifying label into each column.
Go: File > Export > CSV > UTF-8 > Name the file and select a location. Click Export (or Save)
For instructions on Importing the file into Address Book,
Launch Address Book.
Click the Help menu; then enter 'importing contacts' into the search box. Click on "importing contacts" in the list that opens.

Why can't I get my iphone to import all the email address when it imports from address book? It syncs all other info.

I am exploring the book printing features in Aperture. My goal was to build the book in Aperture and get this into iPhoto so that I could use MyPublisher to print the book. MyPublisher currently has a 50% off coupon for orders over $50. iPhoto needs their plugin to upload to MyPublisher instead of Apple when the BuyBook button is chosen. (code is MAC2550 - good though Dec 31). The design features in Aperture are rudimentary at best. It's simple to customize the design for photo placement, adding and deleting photos, resizing, etc. The type design features are not simple to customize, though. However, with patience a suitable design can be made. You can add and delete text boxes at will but these will always default to the template's built in style. I continually had to reformat the type by right clicking on the selected text and applying my preferred style. One trick when cutting and pasting text is to place the cursor one letter in from the beginning of a preformatted line, select the remaining text and paste - this will pick up the current style rather than default to the template default. Then delete the leftover first character of the line. From Aperture I printed the book to PDF, being sure to choose letter size and borderless paper option. Once book is printed to PDF I opened in Acrobat and "saved as" to PNG. In the PNG options I chose 600ppi (the default of 300ppi might have been just fine for quality, not sure). Saving to PNG creates an individual file for each page. In testing Apple's Preview software for this I found it would make a nice PNG - but of just one page at a time. I then imported all PNG pages into iPhoto. Within iPhoto create a book. I used "Modern Lines" with double sided pages. To create the cover (it's actually a label that is adhered to the linen hard cover book) I had to import the actual cover photo used in Aperture to recreate a new design based on the "Modern Lines" template. I then recreated my pages using the template. The key step being to assign the single photo page design for each page. For each page I dropped in the corresponding PNG file which included all type and images created previously in Aperture. One minor point when adjusting the placed PNG images in the iPhoto template is the option to fit photo to frame size (an option when right clicking on the photo). When fit photo is selected the image gets resized very slightly. I opted not to use this feature as I thought the resizing might compromise quality. I then clicked on the "buy book" button and the file was assembled and sent to MyPublisher. Since I had the 50% coupon I opted for the leather bound book option and ordered two 24 page books for $53.74 which included $9.98 standard FedEx fee. As for quality I'll have to wait and see. I'll post back once books are in hand.

I am coming up with an eror message: There was an internal processing error. Please retry or manually check the firmware updates.
My printer has the most current firmware.
This is a great feature, but I cannot get it to do anything but let me log into my account using my user name and password. do I need to set up another account, because that would be redundant if I have to.

Mac Book Send more then 300 Copies of Print command to Network Printer
Dear Experts,
I am Using Mac Book with OS X.
I configured the Macbook to a Laserjet Printer 4250 via Printer server (DPU300). It has been working fine for few months.
Now the problem is, when i send a print command from my mac book, it prints more then 300 copies. From other windows Box it works fine. I could not figure out the problem, please advice me.I should add that it's an HP photosmart 4280.I found it online and it shows the Mac 0SX operating system.

Address Book printing completely broken
I cannot print at all from Address Book. I am trying to print labels on an iMac G5 with 10.5.8. Here's what happens:
I have a group with about 25 contacts selected in the left column, then choose File>Print. (Often the first time I choose print it does nothing, so I choose print again.) When the print dialog opens, the preview is blank and underneath it says "Sorting..." but never seems to stop. If I then choose the "Layout" tab and click on any of the drop-down menus, the addresses show up in the preview, but "Sorting..." never goes away. The number of addresses reported and previewed in the print dialog is seemingly random (11 or 13 or 22 of the actual 25).
At this point, if I click "Print," the Address Book print settings disappear from the dialog and nothing happens. If I press cancel, either the same thing happens or the whole app crashes. Print to pdf doesn't work either.
I tried printing from a MacBook that is synced to my iMac with MobileMe, but got the same results. I also reinstalled the 10.5.8 combo update and repaired permissions.Okay, the one test I didn't try before posting turned out to be the answer. The group included some contacts that did not have complete addresses. I didn't realize how badly that would screw things up. After selecting only the contacts with complete addresses everything worked as expected.

I have two printers on network one is HP LJ 5200n and other is HP LJ 5550n..when i give the print command and select HP LJ 5550n printer but always print goes to HP LJ 5200n printer..but when i unplug the network cable from HP LJ 5200n then print goes to HP LJ 5550n ...why this happen plz help me.

Palm desktop doesn't show address book or memos or others

When I tried to sync my Tungsten E2, recieved an error message (could not establish communications - check your settings). On a support website, it suggested the first step I try is to download and install the latest software. I did and installed it. Palm did its sync with no problem. HOWEVER, when I ran the Palm desktop, only the Calender, Media, and Note Pad would display their data. In the log, it showed that all of the apps uploaded their data.
After re-installing the software two more times, now it only displays pictures from Media, and nothing else! What gives? and how can I correct this?It's really up to you, but there are some caveats that you should be aware of.
With regard to synchronization, the Palm Desktop is not now (and never will be) Sync Services aware. Virtually all applications which engage in synchronization—under Mac OS X 10.4 or later—are, or soon will be. This renders the Palm Desktop effectively useless or, at the very least, outmoded, as a synchronization tool.
The Address Book is integrated to degree with Mail, and will be more so under Mac OS X 10.5, scheduled for release in about 6 months. The Palm Desktop is not.
I use the Address Book for contacts, iCal or calendars, the Missing Sync for Palm OS to synchronize them and to synchronize memos, AvantGo content, selected iPhoto and iTunes files, along with such mundane applications as airline schedules. And, I use Mail.
I'm no fan of Microsoft, but if Outlook worked well for you in the PC world, you should consider Entourage, with it's Sync Services aware capabilities, it's ability to synchronize contacts with the Address Book, calendars with iCal and memos through .Mac Sync. It is, of course, an integrated application including Mail capabilities, and is generally used as an alternative to Mail, the Address Book and iCal. -
MS Word, Appleworks, crash on print command
I just bought an HP laserjet P1006 and downloaded the newest driver for it. Every time that I use the print command in MS Word 2004 and Appleworks, they crash. If I strictly use the print button it will print without a hitch. The problem seems erratic since occasionally it extends to programs that don't have a built in "printer" icon, (i.e.-safari, mail, etc) and they won't print at all. They don't crash like msword 2004, the print job just stops before it prints. When I open the print queue and try to resume the stopped operation, I get the message (operation could not be completed, client-error-not-possible ) This happens whether I'm printing directly through usb or networked to airport. Currently I can still print from mail and safari, but have a problem with Adobe, and of course MS word and Appleworks just crash. I reinstalled msoffice 2004 numerous times, deleted printers and re-added them, reinstalled print driver, to no avail.
One thing I tried out of curiosity was to create another user account and try printing from there. It work seamlessly from that account which is perplexing. I only tried it once, and it's possible that whatever is corrupted in my account, may also transfer to that account. I'm very confused and would appreciate any help in resolving this issue. I have include the crash log for troubleshooting convenience to those who understand them. =/

I looked into turning off rosetta and some other posts on that thread said you can't do that anymore.???? Something that is working for me so far is just creating another user and giving it admin privileges. Everything prints as it should. Not sure why this works, and I am still holding my breath. Its been working for about 3 days now and no glitches. Still have some files to transfer and hoping it won't bring the dream crashing down. =(
