ADF-BC JSF Counting the number of displayed rows that meet certain criteria

Hi everyone.
I have a JSF page that displays a table containing rows with a type attribute that may be either 'A' or 'B'. The page uses an executeWithParams form in order to set query parameters and execute the query. My users have asked me to display percentage information for type A rows at the same page.
One way to do this would be to create an application module method that would parametrize the query, execute it, iterate through the results, do the calculation and return everything in a formatted string.. Somehow this approach does not seem right.
Is there a best practice regarding situations like this? Any reference to code example would be perfect.

How to count the number of deleted rows processed

Hi all,
I have a delete statement that will potentially delete millions of rows
DELETE from TAB_A where COL_A='Y'
The delete is long, at some point I'd like to know how many rows were deleted.
If I do SELECT COUNT(*) from TAB_A where COL_A='Y', the query should be locked because of the exclusive-lock held by the DELETE in progress.
If this is the case, how can I actually count the number of rows deleted so far?

For deleting significant number of rows best practice is to delete rows in small batches of known size (e.g. 10 K) inside a while loop.
This keeps transaction log from filling up as well.
Also between two iterations of delete you can give some wait to make sure that you do not monopolize the server. Sleep could be for a fixed number of seconds (e.g. 5) or for randomized number say from 1 to whatever makes sense.
Typically "set rowcount " is used to set up the batch size and "waitfor delay" to sleep between iterations.
Global variable @@rowcount gives yo actual rows deleted. For the last batch this may be lower than the batch size you set up.

Using Formulas and Variables To Count Rows That Meet Certain Conditions

I have a web intelligence report designed that shows results of shipments that arrived and departed in a given period and the mode of transport (air, ocean, motor). I've tried building formulas to give me counts for example of the number of shipments arrived via ocean, number of shipments that departed via ocean, and so on.
I tried various the Count and If functions in different ways but I can't seem to get them to work. What is the correct logical set of variables or formulas I need to build so that I can display summarized information in my report that shows:
Shipments Arrived via Ocean
Shipments Arrived via Air
Shipments Departed via Ocean
Shipments Departed via Air
Key report fields are [Shipment Identifier] , [Mode]=Ocean, Air, Motor, and [Status] = Arrive;Depart

You should be able to do one of the following:
1. Create a measure variable ShipmentCount as
=Count([Shipment Identifier])
In the report, use Mode, Status and ShipmentCount. This will give an aggregated count per Mode per Status.
2. Create a formula for each of Mode/Status combination like
=Count([Shipment Identifier]) where ([Mode] = "Ocean" and [Status] = "Arrive")

How to add a character at the end of an array element that meets certain criteria.

Hi. I am using CF 9.2.1. I started learning CF yesterday, and I am trying to figure out a way to add a special character (like "?", "!"," & ") to an array row if the first row element (say, element [1][1]) has a specific letter like " t" in the word it is holding. In this case the special character will be added at the end of the last row element (element [1][3]).
Example: The take columns are: "Firstname", "Lastname", "Age". If Firstname contains an "s" or "S" (in any order) then add "!" at the end of the row so that :
Sam, Rubins, 26 !
Nick, Palo, 32
Robert, Williams, 28
Oscar, Ramirez, 23 !
I tried using the ReReplace, Refind and the #findoneof functions. I could probably loop through the array and return a value and store, while storing the value in a separate variable and using an if/Boolean function to compare that value and so on.... But I am sure there's an easier and more efficient way. Thanks in advance.

Dear all,
I need to calculate number of customers that bought particular material in certain period, how can I do so?
e.g.

Expected Query Result:

Since SO 1, 3, 4 all sell Material A, but only 2 customers (A & C) are involved, so the result is 2.
Since SO 2 sell Material B, and it involve only 1 customer B, so the result is 1

As we know, ACS5.2 is required with a base license-- supporting 500 network devices.
Sometimes there are lots of AAA clients or network devices that are authenticating simultanious. So my question is, how to count the network devices allowed to auth on ACS5.2? Does that only include network devices, or including both any network devices or AAA clients?

ACS 5.x counts the number of AAA clients that are configured on the ACS.
Please note that AAA clients and networks devices is the same and they comply switches, routers, WLCs, or whatever other device configured under

AAA Clients are NOT the AAA suplicants.
The end user clients PCs are the AAA suplicants, and for this there is no limit number.

How to retrieve the number of "free" rows in a table?

Hi,
if in a client only environment (no sync to mobile server) rows are inserted and deleted into a table,
is there a way to retrieve the number of "free" rows in a table? Number of "Free" rows stands for
number of rows that can be inserted again, before the table extents in size.
Is there a way in OLite 10.3.0.2.0 to retrieve the size of tables and indexes? ALL_TABLES is not
a place that really works.

Hi Gary,
many thanks, the partner uses a Lite client db without sync. The db runs inside an laboratory device and collects measures. There must be a way to estimate the the number of "measures" rows, that stil can be stored in the db.
Than we need to make the deleted space available for new rows. The partner tested defrag.exe and found that it
needs very long time to run, especially if the db is bigger than 2GB. ... and that this run sometimes fails.
Is there any recommendation the partner can follow on?

interestingly enough, the reference guide for CMIS ( http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS_Query_Language ) that I found does not mention the COUNT function at all. On the other hand it states that: "The SELECT clause identifies which virtual columns to return in the result set. It can be either a comma-separated list of one or more queryNames of properties that are defined by queryable object types or * for all virtual columns."
There are, however, some other posts like e.g. http://alfrescoshare.wordpress.com/2010/01/20/count-the-total-number-of-documents-in-alfresco-using-sql/ which state that they could make it working.
Having asked in the WebCenter Portal forum, I assume that your content repository is WebCenter Content. The CMIS doc for the Content is available here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e15813.pdf (no COUNT there either). It does, however, mention explicitly that "CMIS queries return a Result Set where each Entry object will contain only the properties that were specified in the query.". This means your could rather investigate the Result Set. Note that there are also other means than CMIS how to get the requested result set (e.g. calling a search service directly via so-called RIDC).
In the given context I am also interested what your use case is. OOTB CMIS in WebCenter Portal is used, for instance, in Content Presenter, where it is content rather than "parameters" what's displayed.

Need to count the number of groups in a Crystal Reports 2008 report

I have created a report with three levels of grouping. There are several items in each level. I want to count the number of groups. I have tried countdistinct but it counts the number of items in the lowest level of grouping and I want the number of items in the higher levels. This is a distribution data base. I have the data grouped by date, by truck on each date, and by "run" or load on each truck on each date. I want to count the total number of groups of truck and run, which is the second level of the grouping. Any ideas? I am fairly new to Crystal.

    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i:=0;
2) Create another formula @evalgroup place this in the group header where you want to count the values.
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i:= i+1;
3) Create another formula @display and place this in report footer.
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i;
In order to display the count of details which are printing in the detail section place the eval formula in the detail section and the @display formula in the group footer.

I have a requirement I need to count number of times the Basic finish date chaged for PM work order. I went throug our forums I got some info like using a standard function module
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HDRS_ONLY
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADERS
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS
But all the above function module will not be suitable for my requirement since CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HDRS_ONLY it gives whole changes but my requirement is just need number of changes occurred in Basic Finish date but CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS can give the filed number which has been changed but still I need change id.
So kindly suggest me wether there is any other Standard FM to get number of changes occurred in Basic Finish date?

Dear all,
Thanks for the suggestions. Actially I had solved it in another way.
As suggested by Sharma, I had used a CKF as count, But i did not want the empnos to come as the rows with 1 displayed across each row.
I was trying to bring a summary in there.
So I had created a structure in Rows and in the structure created a new selection and in that selection included Employee.
This solved the problem that I was facing.
