ADF displaying a records details.

Hi, i am having a problem... think there is probably and easy answer that i havent tried. I have two pages, the first page posts a specific contactID to my second page using process_scope. My second page simply displays the details of this record. To create the second page i dragged an ADF form from my data control pallet according to the appropriate view object. Whenever i run this page it always displays the first record it comes to in the DB. How do i get it to display the record as according to the contactID i have put into process_scope? i have tried a number of diffrent ways without success and starting to get very frustrated. any help much appreciated!
p.s i know how to do this using executewithparams. i want the records details to be displayed automatically however, as the user doesnt want to have to press a button every time to see the details

depends on the business service you use
a) ADF Business Components
No need to pass any ID from one page to the other because row currency status is kept between two pages if they both use the same VO
b) Web Service / EJB
You need to provide a finder method that takes an ID as the input. Then on thr ADF pagedef file for the second page, you create a method binding for this method and use EL to reference the ID you put in process scope. Finally you create a invokeAction in the Executables section and point it to the method binding

did you select long term documents? - Long-term documents are used for revision purposes, in other words to find out who changed, deleted or created what and when. check changes of note no. 44206 means, table PCL4 can get pretty large and as a follow up the report RPUAUD00 might take a long time to evaluate the logged changes in the infotype data. Please note that when an archive is selected, then the found archive is read until the record is found. This can take a lot of time (taken into account the access to the file itself), especially with large files. That is currently standard design behavior. But you can run regulary report RPUAUDDL to delete old entries in PCL4. PCL4 contains change documents for Master Data and applicant admin. In PCL4 there are four clusters: LA, LB, SA, and SB. It contains the data created by using the 'write infotype document' function. LX are long-term documents, SX are short-time documents. 'A' stands for employee, 'B' for applicant. The 'write infotype document' function is maintained in tables T585A, T585B, and T585C.

Is it possible to display record detail across and down?

I am using forms Developer 10.1.2.0.2
Is it possible to display record detail across and down? I would like to create a simple form that displays records from one column in one table. This table has many records, so I would like the data to be displayed in two directions, as is possiblie in Reports Developer. In other words, have 3 columns with 5 rows all displaying the same column from the same table. Ex:
code1 code6 code11
code2 code7 code12
code3 code8 code13
code4 code9 code14
code5 code10 code15
FYI - the main reason I want to do this is to create a fancy form that is an LOV. I plan to have each column next to a check box. Currently, we have the column next to a check box, but with only one column the user has to do too much scrolling to get to see the various codes.

You could do a JSON product dump and tie codes to url's, then tie this to an autocomplete search bar with a click through or delayed auto navigation...

Display image in detail groups in jheadstart 11.1.1.3.35

Hi, I've been trying to make a project that should display one picture in one of the detail groups. but when i generate the jheadstart definition editor and run the project, it shows an empty box for the image (image is not loaded).
I've seen the source code and every thing seems right and when i use that detail group as a master group the image display just fine.
is jheadstart 11g have a problem for displaying image in detail groups? because I've heard this option works in 10g pretty fine.
please help me how i can fix this problem and i have to say my project deadline is coming :(

We are not aware of such a problem.
To really check whether it is related to a detail group, can you temporarily make the detail group a top-level group, generate and run your application to see whether the problem goes away?
Make sure you first uncheck the Same Page checkbox before you drag and drop the detail group to become a top group.
There is a known ADF issue that when you upload a new image, the new image is only shown when you restart the session.

Display multiple records as sub-sections in the same report.

I am using Crystal Reports (VS-2005).
In a report, I have various sub-sections in the Details section. Each section represents a category and is connected with SQL command which uses LEFT OUTER JOIN.
The first section is the main section and the subsequent sections are the child sections.
Sometimes, a sub-section (other than the first main sub-section) picks multiple records of that category. In this case the report extends to multiple pages. Each report displays one record of this sub-section.
I want to show the the same sub-section multiple times in the same report as opposed to multiple reports that are now automatically generated by Crystal Reports.
How to handle this issue?

Also, when you post your question it will be helpful if you use report design terminology. We have elements like Report Header, Page Header, Groups, and Details sections. Just mentioning "sections" doesn't give us a good idea about what you are attempting to do.
Check out the grouping options and see if it helps. You might need to create a formula to help you with your grouping though.

When we drilldown at document level it displays one record for each cube

Dear Experts .
The users want to see the report by status for the order detail report at document level it displays one record for each cube .
They want to see the single line for the order quantity , Amount, Billing quantity delivery and amount along with the Sales order number , billing document number billing date , delvert date ..et in signgle line. ( Sale order DeliveryBilling)
When we are doing on Multiprovider recording displaying from each cube.
We have tried with Constant selections and it is not giving the required results m since these want to see by status. Due to huge data performance reasons we re unable to use it .
Please provide your valuable inputs.

If you want to get detail data with respect to Sales order - delivery - Billing, on top of Multiprovider you can come up with Constant selection.
But I am not clear that why constant selection is not working properly, can I have some light on that.
Probably, you are struggling with multiple records .
I suggest you to go with end routine and map all fields to one IC and do reporting on that single IC, then your requirement will fulfill.
But here we need to take care of performance issues and process chain scheduling wile loading deltas.
If Multiprovider is not working properly , then try with Infoset(If you have more than 2 ICs it not possible).

Display a record IF

Hello all!
I am trying to display one record at a time from my query of
multiple tables if the username/password entries match the entries
in the DB but am unsuccessful. The sequence starts from a list of
names, where names is hyperlink to the page where the result of the
query is displayed, but before getting to the results page, the
user has to login.
My question is how can I tell the hyperlink to go to this
specific record (ie. contactID = 34 or whatever the user's ID is)
only after entering a valid username/password. I tried
1. from the login.cfm page: if successful, go to
mypage.cfm?#contactID# (OR mypage.cfm?contactID)
2. mypage.cfm?#contactID# and mypage.cfm?contactID as the
link and both don't display the specific record. Any suggestions on
what I am missing?

When saving a record in a form it is displaying 2 records saved.
On further analysis I found that "when new record instance" trigger is doing some validations and forcing form to think that there is a record updated though it is not so.
what code can i add at the "when new record instance" trigger to prevent that.

If you know that your when-new-record-instance is definitely NOT updating the record, you can amend it so that the last thing it does is use SET_RECORD_PROPERTY to set the record status back to QUERY.

Display 20 records per page -- Pls help

I am using sql query which returns some 1000 records, i have to display 20 records per page. I am using an enterprise bean that has finder method which returns arraylist of records. From this arraylist i am displaying in the JSP page. If after selection, if other user updates in the database, This won't reflect in the jsp page. How should i go about?

You may have come across a situation where you need to cache some data in your server. You then use this cache to service queries from incoming requests. You will also probably have a thread that listens for cache update events. This thread updates the cache in response to these events.
This leads to a problem as it's unlikely that both the threads servicing requests and the update thread will be able to use your cache simultaeneously. You may be tempted to use an exclusive lock such as a Java synchronised block to handle this. This will work but it is probably the worst way that you can do this from a performance perspective. This articles shows how you can use reader writer locks to accomplish the same thing using a much more efficient technique.

How to detect changes to the database?
We can place triggers on a table. These triggers can call a stored procedure when-ever a record is updated/inserted or deleted. If we are caching the data in our application server then obviously when this happens we will want to know about it. We can split databases in to two categories when we look at implementing this. Oracle and everybody else.
Oracle 8i
Oracle is the most elegant. I'm assuming you're using Oracle 8i. Oracle 8i has a builtin JMS mechanism. We can define a queue in Oracle. Our pl/sql (or Java) stored procedure gets attached to the trigger. The stored procedure enqueues a message on the Oracle queue. The message would describe the event that happened. Our application servers will run a thread inside the application server VM that subscribe to and then listen to this queue. When a legacy system or an application server modifies the database then our triggers will call this stored procedure. It then enqueues the message. If the transaction is commited then the message is commited and sent to the listeners. If the transaction is rolled back then it is not commited and not sent. If the transaction is commited then all our application servers will receive the message. They can then use the message contents to see what happened and update the cache accordingly.
Oracle 8 includes a full JVM. You could as an alternative use a Java stored procedure to multicast the event or send the event any way you choose. This isn't possible using Sybase or DB2 as they don't include the java.net package in the VM inside the database.
If you're using an older version of Oracle then there is a way to send messages over an Oracle connection from the server to a client. Check your OCI manual for details. This message will be sent though regardless of the transaction outcome unlike the Oracle AQ solution.

How can I display all records as a end user?

It is a .cfm but only displays 15 records at a time, I was wondering if there is a tag or way to have it display all 300 something records at once? My ultimate goal is to get just the full table into a excel spreadsheet while retaining the HTML formatting so the links still work.
My thought is that the state has set it up this way to only display a set number of records at a time, the data is not private or protected, I am simply seeking a easier way to access it in aggregate.

I think your best hope is to ask the author of the CFM whether they provide any web service that can get you that data when you call it. like.

There's a chance they may be regulating performance on the resultset, and don't want to return that many records at a time, pagination or not.

Display all records from 4 select list

Hi,
trying to associate 4 select list where i could display all records from a list linked to an other list.
1./ Created an item for each select list
P1_employee_name
P1_departments
P1_employee_type
P1_locations
2./Set both null and default values to '-1' for each item
3./Associated these items to source columns in the Region:

and departments=:P1_departments

and ......
When running the report, couldn't display all records from a given list associated to an other list.
e.g: Display all emp and type of emp for sales dept in Paris.

I believe the issue is that you need to group your predicates such as:
where (employee_name=:P1_employee_name
or :P1_employee_name ='-1')
and
(departments=:P1_departments
or :P1_departments ='-1')
Also, if you are not already using the "select list with submit" type items, these work great for this case as the page will be submitted when the user changes the value of employeenam and the report will then reflect this change.

Form does not display all records from table

Hi guys
I modified one form that was based on a signle DB table. I removed certain fields from the table and added some extra fields to that table. Then based on the new table I also modified the form and removed the text items related to old fields in the table and added new text items pointing to the new fields now. II have checked all the new items properties and they have don't seem to be wrong or so. But now the problem is the form does not display all the records from the table. before it used to display all records from the table when qureied but not now. It only certain records from the table containing all new data and also old data but the form does not display other records though I don't see any obvious discrepancy. Remember that the before doing the modifications, I have table back for the old, created another table that contained new records for the new fields, and then I inserted the old records and updated the new table data in the new table with these new table values. So this way I have got my new table. Could someone help why the new modified form fails to display all records from the new table updated table though it display some of them successfully.
Any help will be appreciated.

Actually i did debug the program with the help of our technical guys but found nothing wrong in both the quality and the production system. We compared the program in both the systems and it seems to be same. I am exploring this issue. Will update the findings here.

Function module for display production order details

I want to display production order details including operation,sub-operations and components using standard FM.I checked 4 FMs, but some are not displaying my require details. I found PM_ORDER_DATA_READ function module, it is displaying all details.But you can execute the function module 2 times for different orders it is giving ABAP dump 'itab_error'. Please get back to me if any one faced this problem or know solution.I am also checked BAPI_ALM_ORDER_GETDETAIL FM.
My require fields are
AUFNR, WERKS, PLNAL, PLNFL, VORNR,UVORN, ARBPL, KTSCH,
LTXA1,OFFSTB,VGW01 etc.
I am using SAP 4.7 release. Please send me either standard FM or BAPI to display all details of production order.
