ADF Mobile for Independent developer

can i build my personal app using ADF Mobile and post it in app store.
Do i have to subscribe any license from Oracle

You have to license Oracle ADF to be able to develop and distribute ADF Mobile applications.
You either get a stand alone Oracle ADF license or your get a license for WebLogic Server that includes the ADF license in it.

  • Unable to load ADF Mobile for Android deployment profile.

    Hello,
I'm trying to implement a simple application on an android platform using this:
I already downloaded the updates needed as extensions and started the emulator using the SDK Manager.exe. However, i'm not able to create a deployment profile of type: "ADF Mobile for android". I only find type "ADF Mobile Feature Archive" which doesn't work for me because when i try deploying it, i don't find the "deploy application to emulator" option. Any thoughts?
    Regards,
    Mohamed

    Hi.
To deploy to the emulator or to a device, you must create a deployment profile on your application, not on the ViewController or ApplicationController projects.

  • ADF Mobile - Multiple charts on same page

    Hi,
I am new to ADF mobile.I am developing an app for ipad where i have four charts displayed on the same panel item. The panel page has splitter component to show panel item based on the list selected. The charts will be displayed correctly for the first time.Once I select another list item to show a different panel item(which shows a different chart) and go back to the previous list to view the 4 charts, its not showing all the four.Sometimes it shows two, three. If i rotate the device ,the four charts will again get displayed correctly.
Anyone know what I have to do to get this to work properly?
    Thanks.

    Hi Frank,
I just checked the new HR sample provided with the version 11.1.2.4.0.The Salary guage will display the details first time and once I go to Directs or any other tabs and press 'Comp' button to view the Salary details again,it wont show up.Looks like it is similar to the issue I am facing.
In my case, i just drag and dropped four charts from the webservice datacontrol to the panel item.I am not doing anything specific to set the height/width of charts.

  • ADF Mobile - Phone Performance Issues

    Hello,
I've been using ADF Mobile for a while now. All's going well - I'm able to access web-based data services etc and everything seems to work. I do have a couple of couple of questions regarding performance on the phone though and I was wondering if anyone could offer some help/advice etc.
I've followed all the steps here: https://blogs.oracle.com/mobile/entry/configuration_tips_for_better_performance
...but with no visibile improvements. My issues are:
<1> Once the app is deployed, starting it for the first time takes around 2 minutes. All subsequent start-ups of the app after this take a couple of seconds, even after a shutdown of the phone. I'm not sure how to determine what exactly is happening during this phase, and why this takes so long just the first time? The duration for this also seems to have increased as I've added pages to my app, and as it only has 4 at the moment I'm concerned that adding much more to it will make the problem worse.
<2> I use "listItems" on most pages in a "panelGroupLayout", and the scrolling performance is very poor. All other apps I have on my phone scroll very smoothly. With my ADF app, you drag your finger to scroll up or down and there's a noticeable delay before all the rows move in one go with no visible scrolling actually taking place. This happens even when all the rows to be displayed are loaded on to the page and there's no more calling of the web service necessary. I've deployed the sample "DeviceDemo" to my phone and the "Properties" page has the same problem. The scrolling is very poor.
I've done a fair bit of Googling on this without much success, Any help or suggested reading on any of this would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers, Rich.

Currently there is no 'solution' for this problem.

    Hi
First you would need to deploy the application in "Release Mode". This requires you to create a Java Keystore and a certificate using the Java keytool, and then you would use it to compile the app. If you have done that, then can you please help explain what these pages are doing, and observed performance?
Unfortunately Galaxy Tab 2 is a bit old - if you have done everything to optimize the app, this could be due to older Android OS. Android OS (especially version 2.x) does not support HTML5/JS well, and performance is much worse than HTML5/JS running on Android 4.x devices. This is more than just HW differences - this is primarily due to the web engine used by the webview.
This is also somewhat a general issue with Android - Chrome is a much faster browser on Android, but unfortunately the webview (which ADF Mobile leverages) is not yet based on Chrome. If and when they switch to Chrome, the JavaScript/HTML5 support would start to rival that of the iOS.

  • ADF Mobile: Data synchronization

    Hi,
I'm currently investigating some ADF Mobile related things for a client.
One of these this is the synchronization of data. Since ADF Mobile (currently) doesn't support something ootb I'm checking my options here.
What would you guys suggest (maybe an other suggestion)?
Performance and reliability are important of course.
    Thanks in advance!

    Shay Shmeltzer wrote:
For offline access you'll want to use the local SQLite DB.
For synchronization you need decide if you just need a DB to DB synch and then you might be able to use Oracle Database Mobile Server 11g:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/database-mobile-server/overview/index.html
Thanks for your reply, I will take a look at the Oracle Database Mobile Server.
    Edit:
After reading trough the documentation of Oracle Database Mobile Server (and googling) I found out that there is no support for iOS devices.
Since we are using ADF Mobile for Android and iOS, we are looking for something that works on both devices.
    Any suggestion?

  • ADF Mobile Tutorial

    Dear All,
I'm trying to follow the ADF Mobile Tutorial to build an Android application as described in: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/MobileTutorial/jdtut_11r2_54_2.html
(I have just downloaded JDev 11.1.2.3 and ADF Mobile Extension)
Everything goes well until I get to the point Step 4.3 (the instruction In the Profile Type drop-down list, ensure ADF Mobile for Android is selected and then click OK.)
My problem is that no such Profile Type can be found in the drop-down. The closest profile available is ADF Mobile Feature Archive.
Does anybody have a clue what should be changed?
    Thanks, Jiri
P.S. in another tutorial http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/BuildingMobileApps/ADFMobileTutorial_1.html I found that "a local keystore before you can use Release mode." My tutorial does not contain anything similar, but I'm OK with the debug mode.

Open JDev > Tools > Preferences > ADF Mobile (Expand it) > Platforms > Select 'Android'
Is the Android SDK Location and Android Platform Location filled in? If not, fill those in and retry.

  • ADF Mobile : iOS Developer Certificate and Provisioning profile for Team

    Hi,
We are starting to build Mobile apps using ADF Mobile. In order to deploy on to iOS devices, Developer Certificates are a mandate. When you go to developer.apple.com, there is a option to Buy Individually or For a company. Query is how should one go about buying the Developer certificates, since we would be working as a team, would it be better to buy as a Company or Individual Certificates? Also if some one can share the implications of the individual versus company certificates/provisioning profile, much appreciated.
    Regards
    Naveen

    Hi,
At a high level, as an individual (annual fee is $99 USD) allows you to deploy to developer devices (i.e. register the device in Apple Developer portal), and distribute through the app store (only).
As an enterprise (annual fee is $299) development program, you canalso deploy to developer devices that are registered, as well as distribute the app directly to any device within your company. Technically you can deploy an app compiled with Enterprise Certificate to any device, but Apple SDK terms specify that it can only be deployed to company internal devices.
    Thanks,

  • JBO-27122 error in ADF mobile client application for blackberry

    Hi,
I am trying to develop a simple ADF mobile client application for blackberry. Currently, working only with Blackberry 9700 simulator. I am using the following for development:
    - Jdev 11.1.1.3

I have done all the steps as given in the oracle demo. But when I try to run the application in blackberry simulator, the page shows the following error:

  • ADF mobile: Reuse taskflows for different device models (resolutions) ?

    Hi,
    ADf 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
What's best practice to create the same mobile app for different device models (= different screen resolutions = different layout)?
I mean an app on a smartphone may use different gui components and layout than on a tablet device.
In adfmf-feature.xml the content of a feature can be either a amx page or a task flow.
Here I can add a constraint to determine e.g. the device.model and use different amx pages depending on the device model.
But how to reuse the task flow (assumtion: the taskflow is independent from the device model) and just create specific amx page per device model?
    regards
    Peter

    Replying to an old thread.
With ADF Mobile 11.1.2.4.0, to display different content views for different devices,  it is recommended that we use following property as a constraint on the content of the feature.
    Property
    Operator
    Value
    hardware.screen.diagonalSize
    more
    6
It applies this constraint on the devices which have screen size more than 6 inches. Which is applicable for the tablets.
For more details, look at the HR sample found at the following location in your JDev after installing the ADF Mobile Extension

  • How to develop ADF Mobile with Oracle Database remotely

As my company is using Oracle Database and using ADF to development many Web-based apps and We just begin to develop in ADF Mobile.
We can't find any tutorial about to using Oracle Database with ADF, How we can using it in ADF Mobile ?
    Thanks for your help !

    Hi,
ADF mobile supports SOAP and REST services for business services access. This means that for you to work against an Oracle database, you need to create a business services that can be exposed as a service for WS DC consumption as explained in the ADF Mobile documentation. Your options are
    1. EJB / JPA : Create entities from database table and then create a session facade on top. This then can be declaratively exposed as a WebService. Use the WSDL reference and start New --> WebService -> WS Data Control in your ADF Mobile project
    2. ADF BC can be exposed as a Service Interface and this to ADF Mobile. To create an ADF BC service you can read the product documentation or this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-sep/o52adf-1735897.html
See this video: https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/developing_with_oracle_adf_mobile for how to integrate this in ADF Mobile

  • Webcenter Portal Support for ADF Mobile Browser

    Hi All,
I am currently working on an ADF Mobile Browser Application for WebCenter Portal.
The main issue I face is that WebCenter has some really powerful taskflows and connectors. Is it possible for us to make use of these taskflows in ADF mobile browser? It seems that when used within the trinidad framework, the taskflows are broken.
I understand from documentation that "Except for page fragments, pop-up in dialogs, and region support, you can use the ADF task flow to develop ADF Mobile browser applications. ADF Mobile browser application that use the ADF task flow only support the trinidad-simple skin family"
Does this mean that taskflows that use the page fragments, pop up dialogs dont work or that you cant use them within jsff and pop ups?
    Sincerely appreciate any help! thanks

    Hi,
You can reuse taskflows but you need to modify jsff pages with trinidad components.
    Thanks,
    Minal

  • Oracle ADF Mobile Framework for native mobile applications

    Hi All,
Has anybody tell me the roadmap from Oracle for the new release of Oracle Mobile Client (Native Mobile Application Development).
What is the tentative release date for the new framework?
    Regards,

    We are all waiting :(
Oracle generally don't give dates (or they are ambiguous). So all you can do is wait. Do you already visited the adf mobill page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/overview/adf-mobile-096323.html ?

  • Prerequisites for oracle adf mobile

    Hi,
I need to learn oracle adf mobile technology. I know little bit of java. Means I understand java syntax. I have absolutely no experience in web technologies like jsp,jsf etc.. even css I do not know.
What should be the learning path for me before I actually start reading oracle adf mobile tutorial? I do not even know javascript. What are all the basic stuffs I should know before starting with adf mobile
    Thanks
    Vadiraj

I'm not sure if your background is sufficient for developing any application. ADF requires you to have at least a good understanding of java. 'A little bit' might not be enough.
Well, you'll find this out yourself pretty fast.
the Oracle ADF Mobile homepage Oracle ADF Mobile has three links on the page showing a demo, an overview (which would be my starting point) and a link to the ADF Academy. This last link is designed to help users developing ADF Mobile applications.
After watching the other videos you can start there. If you don't understand what is going on there you have to deepen your knowledge in this aera first.

  • ADF Mobile: Client state access failed to establish a place for storage

    Hi,
I hope it's fine to ask about adf mobile in this discussion room.
    following problem:
While switching from two views/pages, both display a list, an error was thrown with the message: "Client state access failed establish a place for storage: null".
From the list view, I can navigate to see the details of the list-element. This error message wasn't shown up if I navigate from the details back to the list overview.
The application is developed using jdeveloper 11.1.2.4 and deployed on iPhone simulator 6.1 (xcode version 4.6.3).
There is no further information about this error in the log file. I'm not really sure if this message is really coming from the framework itself.
Has anyone probably ever heard about this message? It'll really helpful.
    Thanks!

    Hi.
I got this error message once. I was trying to copy the full selected row for a table in the view scope using a setPropertyListener. Something like this:
    <amx:setPropertyListener from="#{row}" to="#{viewScope.visit}" type="swipeRight"/>
This will not work. The workaround is not to be lazy and simply copy the row attributes you need one by one.
