ADF test

I want to know how to write test case for adf web development?

902045,
I see that this is your first post. So welcome to the shiny world of ADF development!
Now you should first read https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=56 to give your question a meaning (for us).
Sure we can just shoot information at you, but in this case you should have used google to get the same info (and trust me goggle is faster).
Please give us a use case and a summary about your environment.

  • ADF test appmodule generates illegal java method call for Oracle binds

I'm on the latest (likely) release of JDeveloper 10.1.3.
    ADF Business Components     10.1.3.36.73
    Java™ Platform     1.5.0_06
    Oracle IDE     10.1.3.36.73
    Struts Modeler Version     10.1.3.36.73
    UML Modelers Version     10.1.3.37.32
    Versioning Support     10.1.3.36.73
Using ADF wizards, I've created a readonly view and modified the sql with a named bind variable.
    The sql is
    SELECT RaDocumentation.RA_DOC_ID,
    RaDocumentation.RA_DOC,
    RaDocumentation.MIME_TYPE
    ,dbms_lob.getlength(RaDocumentation.RA_DOC) bloblength
    FROM RA_DOCUMENTATION RaDocumentation
    where ra_doc_id = :blobKey
Then I defined blobKey in the bind variables section to be type integer with default value of 0. When I run TEST on the appmodule, which only has this view defined in it, a prompt screen appears to ask for a new value for blobKey. When I press enter, an error screen appears saying
    Business Component Browser - java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
    oracle.jdbc.OraclePreparedStatement.setObjectAtName(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/Object;)V
This JDeveloper application is generated "out-of-the-box", in that I did not change any defaults, etc from that which comes defaulted in standard JDeveloper 10.1.3. I did apply the most recent JDeveloper patches from Oracle's download site.
Any suggestions as to the problem?

I appreciate your help, but the problem is not yet solved.
Below is the JDev log generated upon execution of the Browser. I do not see anything unusual.
The log is the execution of JDev 10.1.3 after what I think is complete removal of all incarnations of anything relating to JDeveloper. All versions of JDev were deleted, all jdevhome directories. I found a OpenBaseJDBC.jar in the java extensions subdirectory and removed it.
I then downloaded again the production JDev 10.1.3, executed it (it created its jdevhome directory in my home directory), and I updated with the required patch only (patch 5?), and restarted. Created application with a readonly view using a bind variable. Same error appeared. I did not find any suspect .jar files in the java directory.

  • Stress test tool and guidelines for tuning ADF 11g

    Hi all,
I am working our ADF 11g application on load & stress testing. The load test works fine with some millions of full dummy rows (this generated data tool is easily written by ourself). The tunning only was done with only indexing. But with stress I'm concerning with RAM and other tunning parameters such IO and share pool from OS to DB and to WL servers and how to tune it for around 200-300 concurrent connections. I'm studying Jmeter for this purpose but still not get the answer. I have tested with Oracle Openscript but it worked very heavily slow :(.
The question here is that do you have any experiences on tuning parameters for such requirements and what is the best automatic test tool for testing multi-connections, please advise me.
    Thank you very much.

Oracle Application Testing Suite has specific support for ADF testing:

  • ADF panel does not prompt for variable defined in ADF view object.

I have created an ADF Panel, which allows the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view objects and ADF view links and ADF application module.
One of these queries lookup detail information about a given database object (Table, view or whatever) from dba_objects. The SQL uses a parameter (:P_OBJ_NAME) that has a default value of “Departments”. If I run the ADF application module by itself outside of the ADF panel, all works fine, it prompts me to provide a value for the parameter :P_OBJ_NAME.
As I said the panel contains the different ADF view links including the one that should prompt the user to provide a value for :P_OBJ_NAME. When I run the panel it does not prompt me for :P_OBJ_NAME, it just uses the default defined value “departments”.
I hope I described my problem for every one to understand. The question obviously is how do I get the ADF panel to prompt the user to provide a value for parameter :P_OBJ_NAME, my expectation was that since the sql in the view object and the application module both are designed to prompt for a value for this parameter then the panel should do just that but it does not.
You expert input would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.

The prompting for a parameter is a feature we built into the ADF Tester - it is not a default behavior you get in your application when you just place a VO on your page.
To get something like this expend the operations node under the VO in the data control palette, and drag the "Execute with parameters" operation to your page to drop it as a parameter form.
This will provide your user a place to fill out the parameter and press a button to execute the query.

  • Invoking BPEL process from ADF...

    All,
I have deployed one BPEL process and invoking the same process from ADF test page. I created one Webservice Data Control for this process and did drag and drop to ADF page. It is working fine as expected.
When I created data control, I gave the web service URL as "http://<hostname>:<port>/orabpel/default/<processname>/.......<processname>.wsdl
My question is, if I want to deploy this BPEL process as well as this ADF page into another server, what will happen to this ADF data control ? since the hostname and port will not be similar for the new server. Do I need to change any params ?
Or when we create data control itself, are there any options to achieve this ?
Please let me know the details.
    TIA,
    -- prabaa !

    Hi,
Check if your wsdl endpoint can accessed properly. If yes, check the soap-binding address is properly pointing to the server hosting the webservice.

  • Oracle ADF viewScope causing session size bloat

As I'm sure you know, ADF introduces some additional scopes (pageFlowScope, viewScope and backingBeanScope) on top of the standard JSF ones. Our use of one of the ADF scopes, viewScope, appears to be causing our session size to bloat over time.
Objects that are view scoped (e.g. our Backing Beans) are managed by ADF and appear to be put into the session in a org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.application.StateManagerImpl$PageState object. The number of these objects in the session is equal to the org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.CLIENT_STATE_MAX_TOKENS in our web.xml configuration file.
Once all of the tokens are ‘used up’, by navigating around the application, the oldest one of these objects is removed from the session and (should be) garbage collected at some point. However, the reclaim of this space is observed much later, after the session has expired. Because of this, when load testing the application we see the heap space usage gradually increasing, before causing the JVM to crash.
The monitoring of the creation and destruction of our objects is done by adding log statements in the default constructor and in the finalize method (Which overrides the finalize method on object). The logging statements on object creation are seen when we would expect them, but the logging statements from the finalize method are only seen after session expiry. When a garbage collection is triggered using Oracle JRocket Mission Control we see the heap usage drop significantly, but don’t observe any logging from the finalize method calls.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why the garbage collector might not be able to reclaim view scoped objects after they are removed from the session?
    Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have already found VIEW SCOPE IS NOT RELEASING PROPERLY IN ADF which is a very closesly related thread, but unfortunately was not able to use the replies on there to resolve our issue. I've also posted this same question on Stack Overflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13380151/lifetime-of-view-scoped-objects-oracle-adf). I'll try and update both threads if I find a solution.

    Hi Frank,
Thanks for your very useful reply. I've managed to recreate the problem today by doing the following.
    1. Create pageOne.jspx and pageTwo.jspx
    2. Create PageOneBB.java and PageTwoBB.java
    3. Register PageOneBB.java and PageTwoBB.java in the adfc-config.xml as view scoped managed beans.
Then after building and deploying out to my Weblogic server I continue by doing the following:
    4. Open pageOne.jspx in a browser. Observe the constructor of pageOneBB being called and the correct default text being shown in the box. [Optional] Set the text value to a new string and click on the button.
    5. Get redirected to pageTwo.jspx. Observe the constructor of pageTwoBB being called and the correct default text being shown in the box. [Optional] Set the value to a new string and click on the button.
    6. Monitor the Weblogic server using Oracle JRocket Mission Control. Observe the large lists of booleans being created as expected (5,000,000 per click!).
    7. Note that this number is never reduced - even though the old view scoped beans should have been released for garbage collection.
    8. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until I see the Weblogic server crash due to a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.
    9. Wait for all of the sessions to expire. I've set my session expiry to be 180s for the purpose of this test.
    10. After 180s observe the finalize method being called on all of the backing bean objects and the heap usage drop significantly.
    11. The server works again but the problem has been demonstrated in a reproducible way.

  • ADFS and ACS connection is flakey at best

I have my Azure subscriptions ACS configured to work with my companies Federation server. It is setup and working but only about 20 percent of the time. The following is some of the things I have noticed. I get the login screen press the button and I am
logged in to my app with no problems. I close the browser and try again and I get an error stating that I have an untrusted root cert in the cert chain. The error is only visible in the network tools in Firefox. The SSO sign in page just redisplay. I wait
~5 minutes and try again and can successfully authenticate again. Most of the time once it fails I have to go into ACS manager and save something (not making any changes) and it starts working again. I have also noticed that when I publish a new build to the
relevant Azure website, the authentication as previously described will not work for about 5 to 10 minutes. That does not always happen but enough to mention. My company has a production federation server and test federation server setup. I have my local development
environment pointing to the an ACS dev instance pointing back to my localhost and my companies ADFS test instance. The previous works with out fail every time. Only when I am going from my client to ACS to our Federation server and back to Azure does the "flakeyness"
    occur.

  • Bug (possibly?): SelectManyShuttle fails to display selected items

Bug (possibly?): SelectManyShuttle fails to display selected items when valuePassThru="true" in ADF 10g
    Hello all,
When run, the example below shows a Select Many Shuttle with four choices in the leading list. When items are shuttled to the training list and the page is submitted the trailing list is rendered with no items selected. Is this a bug?
    Configuration
This example was constructed using jDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0.
A new application was created using the Web Application [JSF, ADF BC] template although no business components are used.
    Steps to Reproduce
    1. Create the following backing bean class.

    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    import javax.faces.model.SelectItem;

I'm holding my Nano in my hot little hands with ALL of the things you listed, but here's the sad, simple truth: you CAN'T use iTunes to sync everything. It works well for:
    1) Music
    2) Videos (except sometimes in Vista)
    3) Photos (as long as they're not too large)
    but is terrible for:
    1) calendar
    2) contacts
    3) To-Do lists
For the latter use something like "iGadget" (www.ipodsoft.com). I also edit/store notes w/iGadget plus it allows you to export files, etc.
I gave up on syncing iTunes w/Outlook long ago. Good luck.

  • Problem Updating BLOB Data in DB

    Hi, There,
I have a problem when updating BLOB data in database table. I am
using Oracle 8.1.6, JDK1.3.0., oracle thin driver.
I have a Handle object handle (javax.ejb.Handle), and I need to
save this object in DB. The table has 2 columns: column 1
is "PK" Varchar2(30) Primary Key, column 2 is "HANDLE" BLOB.
According to the documentation I found from Oracle, I first
initialize the blob column, and then get the BLOB locator.
However when I try to update the BLOB data by invoking
executeUpdate() method on OraclePreparedStatement ops, I always
get the returned int rowCount=0, which indicates that no rows
have been updated. (This is verified by trying to retrieve the
BLOB column value which results in SQLException: Exhausted
    Resultset.)
Any suggestions what was wrong with the code? Thank you a lot in
    advance!
    Tom
Part of the code is listed below:
// If jSessionID is not found, create it

  • JHeadstart cannot handle Faces access to ClobDomain

JHeadstart's generated application from the default definition stack dumps the internal OC4J server with the stack trace (in part) below. The ADF AppModule works fine when executed using the ADF test application.
The ADF module contains only one view defined against a database view which presents denormalized rendition of data from many tables, each record of which contains 32 attributes: 26 simple attributes, 1 clob field, and 5 user-defined collection types whose elements are user-defined object types. If the CLOB attribute is removed from the JHeadstart definition, the generated application executes successfully. (Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 and the .95 release of JHeadstart demo).

Looking at your stack trace, I think you are using fileDownload as the display type, correct?
I just tried to run a page with a ClobDomain item displayed as file download and I get a similar error. This is a bug in JHeadstart (still in 10.1.3.1) that we will fix with the next service update.
For now, the work around is to use display type "textInput", which will show the content of the Clob item directly on the page.

  • How to run ADF command-line test-client on standalone weblogic host

I have followed the steps to create a test client for the ADF application. In used the following link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b25947/bcquerying007.htm
The above link does not talk about how to setup the environment where the standalone weblogic is installed to be able to run the test client.
I can run it in the jdeveloper environment.
I can also run from the command line on the development host, by cut-paste the command from the jdeveloper output log tab.
I am trying to run this client on the machine where we have a weblogic installed (standalone) for testing. We can run our ADF application from the browser with no issues. We want to automate and run some testing related to the ADF model (non-viewcontroller part) from the command line on this test stage.
    Which/Where are the ADF libraries?
How can I add our application jar deployed on the weblogic (ear file) to the CLASSPATH?
What other libraries ADF/Weblogic do I need for the command line test client?
    What am I missing?
    Thanks for any help.

The Test project jar is created as ADF Library JAR File with Model.jpr as the dependent project. This takes care of project class dependencies
All the adf library dependencies are added to the manifest file of the Test Project jar referring to a location lib/ in the jar file directory.
I tried creating the ApplicationModule using both Configuration class (Configuration.createRootApplicationModule) as well as using the JDBC Connection String but both fail when I run the test cases independently from jmeter.
Anybody came across such an error? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Sapna

    Hi Timo,
    Im using JDev version 11.1.1.6.0.
I checked the class path on the jdev console. All the library references are mentioned in the manifest.mf classpath of the test project like below:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Class-Path: lib/identitystore.jar
    lib/adfm.jar
    lib/groovy-all-1.6.3.jar
    lib/adftransactionsdt.jar
    lib/adf-dt-at-rt.jar
    lib/adfdt_common.jar
    lib/adflibrary.jar
    lib/xmlparserv2.jar
    lib/db-ca.jar
    lib/jdev-cm.jar
    lib/ojmisc.jar
    lib/commons-el.jar
    lib/jsp-el-api.jar
    etc...
So I expect the library references should be resolved looking at the manifest file.
Another set of entries that I see in the jdev classpath are related to the Model project which is under test.
    -classpath
    D:\CurrentProject_1\16_7_2013_3pm\11_7_2013\.adf;
    D:\CurrentProject_1\16_7_2013_3pm\11_7_2013\Model\classes;
How do I put these entries into my class path? Will it be sufficient if I add the Model.jar into my test project classpath?
    Thanks,
    Sapna

    Hello
    Thanks for your replies.
The first dialog shown when testing the AM shows the correct database connection. And the connection is ok. I can see the tables list.
oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.
the Application Module connection doesn't connect. I right-click on Application Module and select Test. Then connect and then the error message appears.
And about NLS files. My NLS_LANG parameter in registry is AMERICAN_AMERICA.ar8mswin1256.
To test it I used default value (American.al32utf8) but I have error message yet.
