ADF trial on JBoss AS 7

Did anybody try to deploy an adf application on JBoss AS 7 yet?
My first attempts failed, with following error :
org.jboss.as.server.deployment.DeploymentUnitProcessingException: Failed to parse "/C:/jboss-as-7.0.1/standalone/deployments/test.ear/test.war/WEB-INF/lib/adf-richclient-impl-11.jar/META-INF/afu.tld" at [1582,10]I continue my investigations but if anyone has some time to waste on this...you're welcome :-)

  • [JDevelopper 10g]problem deploying ADF libraries with JBOSS 3.2.1

    Hi,
i'm testing JDevelopper 10g preview and i encounter i problem when i deploy the ADF libraries into my JBoss 3.2.1 directory.
I follow the tutorial wich implements a simple ADF Aplication, based on a simple JSP page, with Struts, BC4J.
    It works well on OC4J...
So i want to run my application under JBoss 3.2.1
I try to follow the steps described in the help file but once the libraries (ADF) are copied to JBoss directory, this one does not start anymore....
    any idea ?

    Gilbert,
actually JDeveloper 10g preview isn't tested on other J2EE servers than OC4J (the price we had to pay for being able to release a preview in time).
So I cannot really tell what's going wrong there. However, the production release of JDeveloper 10g will support deployments to other Application Servers.

  • [SOLVED] Deploying ADF in JBoss 4.2.x

    Hi,
The official documentation on deploying ADF apps in JBoss specify that it is certified up to 4.0.3. We currently have an ADF (10.1.3.3) app running in a 4.0.5 and it works fine. Is it safe to deploy it in a JBoss 4.2.x server? Are there any known incompatibilities? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Yoel

There is a difference between supported and certified.
ADF was certified (meaning tested) with JBoss 4.0.4.
We didn't test with JBoss 4.2 so we don't know if it works or not.
However it is supported - meaning that if you try to deploy to 4.2 and run into issues you can open bugs with Oracle support.

  • Hit by the famous "Failure to start JBOSS Service During Conf Management.  Error[ALC-LCM-999-032]"

    Hi Everyone,
I m really frustrated with this issue. I am trying to install Adobe LiveCycle ES Update 1 trial version JBOSS turnkey option.
    It does not work!!
The installation goes smoothly. But when I launch the config manager, there is no way I get passed the "Error[ALC-LCM-999-032], with a Failed on 'Starting service JBoss For Adobe LiveCycle ES'. Service startup failed for: JBoss for Adobe LivecycelES."
I tried pretty much anything I could find out there as potential solution to the problem. I even tried it in a brand new machine whit pretty much nothing in it: so no possible port conflict (by the way I tried starting jboss directly from the cmd line under Adobe 8.2 dir and it starts fine. i.e: Only the service is busted!!!), tried changing the local policy right and Allow Logon as a service, tried changing the account the service is running under, to no avail.
I tried installing it in machines with Win XP, SP2, JavaSDK1.5_017
Also, tried installing it in machines with Win Server03 SP2 Standard Edition x64. Same JDK. Same thing.
I have tried several machines w/ the same result
I am obviously missing something !
I personally dont care about the windows service. If there is a way to do the config manually, I m more than happy to take that route, as long as I am told what to do. THANKS>
    mb/

I was able to solve this issue. I put this in another thread also as I treid for hours to get this to work and no one had good explanation on forums.
I had same problem on Windows XP (32 Bit). I was installing LiveCycle ES on my desktop to do some solution evaluations. I could start the JBOSS server successfully if I did that by myself, but Adobe Configuration Manager and Java Service were failing.
The issue was the JDK I had assigned to use.
    To resolve:
    1. Make sure you have compliant JDK Version. To get mine to work I had to install JDK Version jdk1.5.0_17.
    2. Switch the JDK that the JBOSS Java Service is pointing to. To do this, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the service.
2.A Go to your installation folder (C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\jboss) and copy the file "InstallJBossService.bat" and rename it "UnInstallJBossService.bat".
2.B Change the command line to execute an uninstall by the following: "%LC8DIR%/jboss/JBossService.exe" -uninstall.
2.C Change your OS Environment Variable for JAVA_HOME to the correct JDK, for example "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_17".
    3. Rerun the Adobe Configuration Manager C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\configurationManager\bin\ConfigurationManager.bat
It should complete successfully now IF your issue was the wrong JDK like I had.
Also make sure that the Java Service has Permission to run. Check your control panel -> adimistrative tools -> Service. It will be called "JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle". Make sure it has permission to run as local user is what I did.
There are some other posts about issues similar to this using wrong JDK or 64Bit Windows or other.

  • Jdeveloper + Jboss 4.0.3SP1

    Hi,
I´m trying to create a connection to a JBOSS AP 403sp1.
i was able to create a connection to the JBOSS AP server but couldn´t install the ADF Runtime for JBOSS. The ide shows a message saying that it is not a valid jboss home.
however, it lets me create teh same procedure to a jboss 3.2.5.
Does anyone know why ? is jdevepoler not intended to support any jboss server version after 3.2.5 ??
    thanks

Pity, it is almost 10 days since you posted your problem.
I believe the error -- when you try to ADF Runtime Intstaller -> Jboss -- says %jboss-home%\j2ee\home does not exist or so.
    What I did was:
    1. Create inside my %jboss-home% directory, the following sub-directories
    j2ee and
    j2ee\home
    2. Next I re-tried ADF Runtime Intstaller -> JBoss again. I entered my jboss-home but NOT the j2ee\home.
This fooled JDeveloper to do the job.

  • Using the Oracle ADF Data Visualization Components in a standard JSF enviro

    Hi,
I have asked this question on the JDeveloper and ADF forum, haven't gotten a response yet:
Using the Data Visualization Components from ADF in a JBoss 7.1.1
.. but I would like to ask the question here as well if anyone have used the data visualization components from Oracle ADF Essentials .. the free version ... using the graph components in general, but I am looking at specifically using the gantt chart component in particular ... in a standard JSF environment ( e.g. Tomcat + Mojarra, or JBoss with the built-in Mojarra implementation ) ??
I know there are other JSF charting components out there ...like the ones from PrimeFaces, but the gantt chart from ADF looks more ... well .. professional.

People are not prone to answer questions that are not really a problem. You want to know something about a free product, install it and see for yourself. In any case spreading your question around is not going to help you, the people who know about ADF are still going to be looking in the ADF forum. If you don't get an answer there, what chance do you think you have that you'll get one here where it is off-topic?
I'll close with a word of advice: you generally pay for quality. If you want professional looking charts, you'll probably have to look at commercial products.

  • ADF 11.1.1.2.0 and Tomcat 6.0

    All,
Shay Shmeltzer posted clear, concise instructions to get ADF 11.1.1.1.0 running under Tomcat 6.0, and they worked beautifully. What I've noticed, though, is that many of the jar files are missing in JDeveloper / ADF 11.1.1.2.0. Indeed, it seems others have run into issues getting the new version of ADF running under JBoss as per the forum posts. Does anyone have a comprehensive set of instructions to get an ADF 11.1.1.2.0 application running under Tomcat 6, including the new list of jar files?
    Thanks in advance!
Edited by: Scott R. on Mar 1, 2010 4:05 AM (added tags)

For a basic ADF application (read: no ADF BC), I've found the following video tutorial, which works with 3 additional libraries:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7U6NiIfI5U
After you follow the tutorial, add these three libraries to your Tomcat lib directory:
    <JDEV_HOME>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.jrf_11.1.1\jrf.jar
    <JDEV_HOME>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.jrf_11.1.1\jrf-api.jar
    <JDEV_HOME>\oracle_common\modules\oracle.jrf_11.1.1\jrf-client.jar
If you have an app which requires ADF BC, you will see the following error in your Tomcat log:
    Mar 27, 2010 11:30:13 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext listenerStart

  • Adf bc and toplink

    Dear sirs.:
My company will cange from forms to Jdev (adf), my question is:
using only adf bc with jboss (for example) , can i do balancing to another jboss machine of some (heavy) objects, without using toplink ?
I'm affraid off developing a 2 tier aplication with adf bc, and it becames heavy, how can i do balancing with no code changing, using only others aplication servers on the network?

Can you tell us more about your expected client technology? Web application with JSF or desktop-fidelity client using ADF Swing?
Can you clarify what you mean by "heavy objects" ?
Are you asking whether applications built using ADFBC work well in an application cluster or server farm of multiple servers?
Thanks for helping clear up these questions I have.

  • JBO-26031 Error encountered when attempting to create new row

    Hi
We are experiencing an intermittent error whereby sometimes the call to
View1Impl.createRow() fails with the following error message:
JBO-26031 Association end Entity1 of assoc Entity1Entity2FkAssoc invalid for entity based Entity1 in view object View2.
View1 is a generated view object based on a single entity whereas View2 joins the entity from View1 (Entity1 in the error message) with Entity2 and three other entities.
View2 has previously been executed with a WHERE clause defined within the code. We have tried re-setting the parameters to null prior to the createRow() call but this does not seem to have fixed the problem.
Has anybody any suggestions as to why this error would be thrown (and if possible why it does not happen every time we attempt to create a new row)?
Thanks in advance for any help
    Lisa

I have exactly the same problem when I deployed the ADF application to JBOSS.
    I am using jdev 10.1.3.3 ADF 10.1.3.41.57 and JBOSS 4.0.3 sp1 / JAVA 1.5.0
The strange think is that when I am running the application from jdev (using the embedded OC4J) the problem dos not occur.
    Any suggestions?
