Adjusting width anchored item

Hi,
I need to adjust the width of anchored items in Indesign CS3 (MAC).
When importing a lot of mathtype eps in an Indesign layout, we find that the box containing the mathtpye formula is a bit wide. We can't figure out if or how to correct this in mathtype. So, is this possible in Indesign?
Is it possible to make a script that searches the document for an anchored item, and cuts of a certain amount of the box, i.e. make it a bit smaller. Or, even better, can you cut of a certain amount of both sides of the box? We can not scale the box, that would scale the contents to.
Can anyone help me? The document contains several thousands of eps's, the thought of adjusting them manually.....

It's a basis so you may need to improve it regarding to your needs.
But it seems to be efficient if you have non grouped text frames (the script will run anyway, but will ignore groups).
If you have groups, you can add a loop for condireing them but it's up to you.
I don't know if it will be strong enough for thousand pages but have a try and let me know.

Anchored items size with javascript

Hi all,
I try to get the size of an item in my InDesign page, with the function geometricBounds.
It causes a problem when my item is anchored to another one : I only get the bounds of the main item and not the anchored one (see the red arrow in the sreenshot).
I can't detect the second item with script, because it isn't a real item, just an anchored item to the other one. I can't make a group with these two items neither.
If I export an image file for this item, I get the main item and the anchored one.
Is there a solution to get the size of the whole object ?

Can you select the second item in InDesign?
Can you see an anchor point for this object anywhere in fextFrame?
Anchored items are as much real as standalone ones. There is only a different way to refer to them.
Determine if this arrow is an anchored object in fact.
Starting from attached doc view (textFrame selected) your arrow geoBounds supposed to be:
app.selection[0].splineItems[0].geometricBounds;
...if arrow is anchored there indeed.

Generating consistent height/width for items

Hello,
I have created an application module consisting of several nested groups that each contain several items. The layout of these items is either form or table. Although JHS generates all the pages efficiently, it takes the item display width as defined in their respective column length. This generates a page that does not look good visually. I tried changing the width at the view object layer and was successful in doing so. However, I had to change each item width one by one. This is very time consuming as my entire module has more than 200 items and I am yet to start building other modules.
I read that JHS uses templates that can be customized as per ones convenience. However, I am not sure whether I can use this feature to do the above task which generating consistent widths for items. Can anyone guide me briefly on the process I should follow using template customizations to achieve the above?

Thank you for your inputs. I have gone through the JHS Guide section 4.7. I created custom template files and linked the item property for item to this custom template. This works.

Adjusting Width of Iview

Hi Experts,
i Am new to portal ,
I m trying to look for the property by which i will be able to adjust width of the ivew but i m unable to find
I m using EP 7.01.

i m able to see various properties to set height but not the Width...

Iview is of the type : Sap transaction iview in which i am trying to display a swf file

There is no direct property through which you can control the width of the iView. Best solution would be try closing the navigation panel thus providing more space for the iView. If this also didn't solve the issue, then you can open the iView in a new window.

Adjusting width of the sidebar

I have installed Firefox 7.01 but I cannot adjust width of sidebar, the 2-ended arrow comes up as it used to but there is no response. The only think I can do is shut sidebar down and then re-open it.

Combobox scrollbar width and item list padding

Hello, I am running an application on a touchscreen, and the default combobox is way too small to be used.
I have tried skinning the combo box component to make the scrollbar wider, it didn't work.
I tried combobox.dropdown.horizontalScrollBar.width = 300;
Nothing happens.
Is there any way to do this?
Also, I needed to increase to font size of the list items, which I was able to do. However now all the list items are squished fairly close together. Is there a way to widen each list item/ add padding around the text?
Or heck, is there even a custom combobox control that will allow me to do this? I really need this, but can't figure it out.

Problem got solved.I fixed width in pixels and the width does not change.
But as Viswas said,if the text is long then the user will not be able to see entire text..How to solve this problem other than showing a different text to user(As the user does not want that way).
I tried by dynamically creating a tool tip i.e, i bound the tool tip of list box to a attribute and i was setting the attribute to the selected text in list box.But unfortunately tool tip does not show up.Do you guys worked on dynamically generating a tool tip or else can you tell how to solve this problem.

How to adjust width into BPS web Layout

Hi gurus,
I´m working with BPS web Interface. I have a tabstrip control subcomponent composed by 3 differents layouts and the web interface is composed by differents tabstrip.All of this layouts represents the same information but restricted to differents characteristic value. I need to align the data of those layouts, I mean the first column of the first layout should have the same width as the first column of the second layout etc.
The idea is adjust the width of the columns of each layout in this tabstrip control. How can I do that? Is possible do that with CSS Styles? If it is possible How can I do that?

In the Web interface when you double click the layout , you can see the window at the bottom saying your component name ,planning area etc..at the bottom most you can see the Width and height , there you can increase or decrease .
before that make excel web component as 'True', then only you can increase or decrease ..

How to adjust width of an individual popup menu cell?

Hi, I have set up a horizontal popup menu which is too long. I want to adjust the width of individual cells that don't have long text, but the program just takes the widest text and creates all the cells the same width. Is there a way to place a title on two lines so it doesn't take up so much room?

There is currently no way to adjust the cells of individual cells or break the text onto two lines.

How to adjust width of columns?

I used to be able to find that sweet spot between columns (e.g., song, artiust, album) where my cursor arrow became a width-indication-symbol and I could adjust the width of the columns. Since the new version of Spotify arrived, I can't. How to adjust column width?

I'm not sure what the management are thinking at Spotify? First we loose that handy feature where you can click the artwork to jump straight back to the tune being played (yes I know it works in some situations like if you're in another play list but it's confusing me still) Then Ctrl F searching within a playlist goes, which is unforgivable IMHO. Now we can't resize column sizes and finally the apps have disappeared! I've been a champion of Spotify since 2009 and still consider it to be the future of music but all I can see is retrograde steps being taken and the product is becoming more frustrating to use. So this is an appeal to the managers at Spotify to read these threads and take notice! There are other streaming systems we can switch to! Btw I also used to work as a Software User Interface designer so if you need some help give me a shout :)

Now: Is there a way to "anchor" and item in a Region Footer so it doesn't move relative to the footer when the IE window is resized?

Using APEX 4.0.x under Oracle 11.2.y on Unix displaying to Windows 7.
I use #TIMING# in a Region Footer of a chart where it displays in the lower left-hand corner. The chart slightly more than fills the window so I want to shrink it. But when I change the "zoom level" of the IE window (under IE 8.0.7601.17514) to say, 96%, the timing value (e.g., 0.02) displayed moves from below the chart at the left to above the chart on the right-hand side. ???
Is there java / html that can be put in the Region Footer field with #TIMING# to prevent this?

It sounds like you are not running the latest software. Connect to itunes. Go to the summary screen for your ipod and check what version of the software it says you are running. If it does not say 1.1, then you need to update.
If it says 1.1, then I would suggest restoring.
If you are running the 1.1 version of the software, if you hold the larger "Sleep/Wake" button down for a few seconds, it should shut down the nano.

Error When Adjust Width in Custom Table Headers "The width key is not valid"

Automatically adjust width of colums on Table

If I populate a table from a database, I would like to automatically adjust the width of the respective columns based on the maximum width of the text contained in the respective columns. I see that there is a property to automatically adjust row height but I can't find a way to automatically adjust the width. Since this is based on selected font, how would I determine the pixel width of a string such that I can use the property node of cell width to achieve my objective?

If you are refering to bar plots, you have 3 bar styles (thin, wide but not connected, wide), accessible using the plot.barstyle property node, or directly witha right click on the legend.

Droplists: explicit widget width, dynamic item field

Hello,
Does anyone know how to have the item list that drops down from a droplist
expand dynamically to fit the longest item
in the field? We need to keep the widget itself and explicit size. Some
of our items are very similar, so when they
are cut off in the field, the choice is ambiguous.

Probably all those double-quotes causing syntax errors. You
need to concatenate the image source name.
Try adding this between the TD tag and the IMG tag:
<%x = "Pix/tn_" &
rsOneProduct.Fields.Item("ProductID") & ".jpg"%>
Then change the vbscript inside the SRC attribute to:
<%=x%>

Action Script Mysteriously Changing width of Items ???

Hello,
I am working on this website and I decided to add some flash to the front page in the form of a little image gallery with a nifty slide effect.
The problem is this. For some reason its squishing my images. When you look in the scripting you will see that I've set the image width to the full width of the stage, but when you test the movie they are getting squished to about 3/4th's the width of the stage (ive double checked the image size as well).
Hopefully you will see something I have missed.

While the problem has nothing to do with the actionscript, you posted this in the wrong forum since the file uses AS2.
The problem has to do with having modified the scale of the movieclips into which the images are loaded. If you open the imgscroller movieclip, select all of the little white squares in the upper left (clip1 thru clip7), and select Modify -> Remove Transform, it will restore them to normal scale.
