Admin account not created?

Bought Mountain Lion.  Created install disk on thumb drive.  Boot from that drive and install ML on an EXTERNAL drive on my iMac.  NO Admin accounts created so when I boot from that drive I can't do anything.  I simply get two STANDARD accounts?  Tried install twice and both times NO Admin accounts?
Any help appreciated ....

I've executed across multiple server with admin and non admin account.

How are you calling the wmi query also can you print the commandLine column in your SQL?

  • Have a Mini with "Default User" account.  Can an admin account be created instead of using that?

    I purchased an Early 2009 Mini on eBay.  The seller reinstalled Leopard on it (that's what it came with) after erasing his stuff on it.  He put "Default User" as the user name, but no password.  He said for security that I should make an account with a password.
    When I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I thought it would have an option to create a user name and password.  It didn't.  Can I make up another user account as the administration account; then use a third user account for documents, pics, etc. (not to disturb the admin account) and forget using the "Default User" account?
    I really hate to take the time to erase and reinstall Leopard and Snow Leopard just to remove the "Default User" account.

    In order to create another account the account you are using needs to have admin privileges.  Does it?  If so you unlock the Accounts prefpane by clicking the lock in the lower left and entering the admin password (hence the reason the account you're using needs to be an administrator).  Then you can create other accounts and click the checkbox for an account that says "Allow user to administer this computer".
    Not you can change the admin password for an account by using booting from your installer disk.
    Now having said all that are you currently in a state where you have a single account that is not an admin account?

  • Hidden admin account not working after updating to ML

    on Lion, i created a hidden admin account called ".admin" [the dot making it hidden]. this was my only admin account. after upgrading to Mountain Lion, the password is not accepted. it typically didn't show up in the user list and i can't access it from login screen. i do see a "admin" [no dot] folder in the Users folder. but any attempts at logging in to that failed also.
    i don't have any other admin accounts, so i'm not sure how to create an admin account from a standard user account.

    If you need that admin account and its home directory back, I think you will have to restore from your backup, unhide the admin's home directory and then re-do the upgrade.
    I think what happened is that the hidden admin's also hidden home directory was either ignored or overwritten during the update.  You'd have been better off assigning it a UID below 500, hiding the UID<500 group, and moving that admin's home directory to somewhere else (/var or /opt maybe), but not making the actual home directory hidden.

  • How to delete current owner/admin account and create a new owner/admin acct

    I am the owner and only user of my G5. I've owned it since 2007 when it was new.
    I need to delete my current account and establish a new owner/admin account. When completed the new owner/admin account should be the only account on the machine.

    Here's the deal..
    I own a software titled "Kinemac". It's a 3D animation software which creates QT movies to import into Final Cut Pro. I've had the software since last April and about a month ago, all of a sudden, the program would no longer open. I contacted Kinemac's Support. They said my computer had apparently been "banned" by the software. (Maybe it saw the computer as trying to pirate the program.?????)
    I tried downloading a new copy of the software, reinstalled, entered serial#, etc. and still would not open. There was no crash. It just would not open.
    Kinemac said its only way to correct the problem was to enter into a screen share with iChat. I tried for 20 minutes with them to establish screen share with no luck. We could "chat" but not screen share. So, I came to the Apple Discussions pages on iChat and spent about an hour with a Discussions' User on iChat with NO luck there either. I gave up on iChat. Not certain I wanted someone unknown on a screen share anyway.
    Which brings us to this point. Kinemac says I can also add a new Admin Acct. Delete the current Admin and then rename the new user with the old user's name. I frankly don't want to mess around doing that but apparently there's alternative for Kinemac. So that's why I'm seeking info on how to do it. I really like the software and want to rectify the situation.

  • Admin password works within admin account, not in standard/managed account

    My admin username and password work within my admin account but when I try to use them to override changes in my wife's or my daughter's standard / managed accounts it does not work. If I want to allow the application firewall or to change parental controls there is a request for an admin password. I know that the username and password are correct and the account has not been made a standard account by upgrading. I have read the other threads about the problems found by some users in 10.5 but this is different as it is definitely still an admin account, it just seems as if it not recognised as such outside the admin account itself.
    Hope my description of this makes sense to someone. Any help would be appreciated.

    Are your wife's or daughter's accounts using keyboard layouts that might be remapping some of the characters to a different key? Are any of these characters in the admin password?
    Also, you should be using the "short" user name of the admin account when authenticating. Normally the short user name has no capital letters in it. Check the short user name in System Preferences -> Accounts.
    Suggestion: Create a fourth account, make it an admin account, and then remove admin rights from your own user account. Unnecessarily running all the time as admin is bad security practice. Apple recommends only logging in to the admin account to do admin tasks, and doing all of your day-to-day work in a non-admin account.

  • Resource account not created

    Using a custom anonymous regestration process a new user is created, this user is created with a LDAP resource. After the process is approved the user is now in SIM but the account not provisioned to LDAP. In order to get this to provision to LDAP you have to :
    1. Open the user in the admin interface and click Save.. Or
    2. Check the user and Update
    If either of these are done, the LDAP account is created sucessfully.
    We have the same configuration on another machine and the account is created without having to update.

  • Consumption accounts not created as cost elements - Implications

    There are following GL accounts as an Expense GL accounts:
    Cost of Raw Material Consumption
    Cost of Finished Goods Manufactured
    Cost of Finished Goods Sold
    Change in Stock WIP.
    I have not created them as cost elements since its asking me cost center when i do any PGI or issue to sub contract stock, etc.
    So i wanted to know the implications on CO-PA if i do not create cost element. I believe that value will flow to CO-PA on the basis of material code.
    Further my doubt is, if i do not create it as cost element, how it will impact my cost center reports and product costing.
    Please help. I am confused very much.

  • Cucm 8.6 admin account not authorized

    Permission were changed in the web ui for the administrator account and now the admin account cannot make role changes.  I do have access the cli but could find a way to create a new admin account.  How is it possible to change the current admin account permissions or create a new admin account with the correct permission?  CUCM is configure for local accounts only.  Thank you in advance! 

    The user you are using itslef don't have privilleges. do you have any other user with admin rights?
    one thing you can check on the enterprise parameter.
    "Effective acess Privileges for Overlapping User Groups and roles : is it set Minimum or Maximum
    If it is minimum try changing to maximum .

  • R12 AP: Accounting Not Created

    Hi Friends,
    We are running into a very peculiar type of problem in R12 (12.0.4), wherein the Accounting is not getting created. I would like to explain the whole steps of the scenario here.
    When i run the Validate Invoices, the invoice gets validated perfectly. Now, when i run the Online Accounting, i get a message, Accounting Created Successfully for the invoice, but the value for the "Accounted" field always displays as "No".
    Even, when i see the Tools > View Accounting Events, only the events for Validation would be created and no events for accounting are created.
    Background:
    =========
    We have a custom module designed specifically for R12, which works in the following way.
    1. As soon as the custom module is installed, it places a System hold on all types of invoices (whether manual or any other source).
    2. Then when we run our custom concurrent program, the invoices are taken into a custom workflow for the invoice approval process.
    3. The invoices distributions, during the approval process can be changed by the user (i.e he can update the code combination, or split the rows into n number of rows etc..)
    4. Once the invoice is finally approved by the person who has the appropriate approval limit, the hold that was placed on the invoice gets finally released.
    5. Now the invoice is again handed over to Standard AP module for further processing like Validation, Accounting, Payment etc...
    Hence, to summarize, our custom module work starts from Placing a hold on the invoice, Take invoice for approval and Release the Hold.
    Questions:
    1. Is there a need to capture the XLA tables in our custom module coding? I dont think it is needed, becoz, our custom module job is over, before the Validation of the invoice takes place.
    2. May be there are any setups that i need to check for?
    3. May be there is a bug in the instance?

    Thanks for the updates.
    Without the extension, i have not tried the accounting.
    But, the validation event is happening appropriately, without any issues. And as far as i know, the first event to impact XLA tables is Validation and then there would be events related to accounting.
    I would like your help in understanding, the detailed process (technical) that takes place when create accounting is run (If there are any docs related to this), so that it would help us to rectify if there is any issue there.

  • Resetting admin account not working

    I tried to update an application and was told I need to be logged on as administrator. I followed http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306876, but it did not work. I was able to log in a root and when I selected my user account to check "allow user to administer this computer" it was already checked. My account is noted as an Admin account and the the box is checked, but it still isn't working....

    Thanks for the suggestions. I changed my account password and repaired the keychain as you described. Unfortunately, it still isn't working. I installed software for my digital camera off of disc, and I am trying to update the program within the program itself. A window continues to pop up stating that I need to log on as an administrator to do an update. My account is listed as an administrator account....
    Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

  • BT Yahoo! Account Not Created

    I have a problem with my BT Yahoo account and was wondering whether anybody else is experiencing the same problem?
    To start at the beginning, I migrated from Plusnet fibre to Infinity 2 which was activated on 11th May.  The migration went smoothly, no engineer required.  However, I have been waiting ever since for my BT Yahoo email account to be activated, when I try and login I get an 'Invalid email' error and if I try sending an email to my @btinternet.com account it bounces back with a user not known message.  I know that the email and password are OK because I can use them to login into BT Openzone/BT FON without a problem.
    I've have been talking to the "helpdesk" for several days but don't really seem to be getting anywhere because you can't actually talk to someone who can make something happen.  The feedback I'm getting is that there is a problem with the Yahoo servers that has been preventing new user accounts from being created, and that this is affected 'thousands' of other customers.  There doesn't appear to be any timetable for resolving this.  The question is considering the time this is taking to resolve, 10 days so far, and the fact this is allegedly affecting other customers, does anybody else have the same problem because it's not being talked about on various forums?
    Starting to wish I hadn't left Plusnet now as I have had to pay for a separate email service to allow me to send and receive my email.

    I am running Windows XP Pro & IE 7. I have set up 2

    I've got the same problem. Unsure what settings to reset in
    IE7, without compromising security. Surprised I'm not asked if the
    flashplayer is from a site I trust so I can run it.
