Adobe Acrobat 8's Distiller fails in Snow Leopard

I saw this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10084009 , which deals with Acrobat 8.0 but doesn't say whether anyone has found a way to get Acrobat's distiller to work on Snow Leopard. All of Adobe's help systems unhelpfully point to this: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html .
With that being said, does anyone know how to get Acrobat 8's distiller in working order in Snow Leopard? If not, has anyone heard whether Adobe's planning to issue a patch?

No explanations how Templeton's Distiller 8 can work in snow leopard since it clearly doesn't with all the old workflows. You can no longer select the Adobe printer and you can't even drop a Word document on Distiller anymore.
The only way I've been able to find is to select "Save as Postscript" from the PDF menu and then drop the postscript file onto Distiller. (a true pain)

  • Printing to "Adobe PDF 8.0" from fails on Snow Leopard

Creating a PDF using Apple's native "Save as PDF" functionality does not preserver hyperlinks created in Microsoft Word documents.
On Snow Leopard 10.6.3, using Microsoft Office 2008 and Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0, I have found that printing to the printer option called "Adobe PDF 8.0" fails to generate a PDF --- at all!
The errors are below. I tried this with a very simple document that said "This document has a hyperlink." The result was the same regardless of whether the word "hyperlink" was a link or not.
I found that printing any web page from Safari generates the same error. Looks like this is a general Adobe PDF problem on Snow Leopard -- or is it just my installation?
Any help or pointers to help would be very much appreciated.

adobe photoshop lightroom 2.0 compatible with snow leopard (10.6) ?

The official line is yes. However, some users have experienced some problems. Whether these are due to incompatibility or problems resulting from the upgrade process is not yet clear.
The only acknowledge issue relates to Edit in Photoshop command not transferring images for Photomerge or as Smart Objects.
Note: Except for above, I'm running Lr 2.4 on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard without issue.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8.14 MSI Fails

    Hello,
I have been getting this wierd error when I try to install Adobe Acrobat 8.14 (Standard and Professional) using the MSI package that I created.
The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepositry\adobepdf.inf_c6a2c8ed. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
This error happens regardless of who is trying to install the MSI pacakage (regular account or Administrator). I would really appreciate if any of you have seen this error and guide me.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Uninstall and Reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro registration failed

I have uninstalled and reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on my new machine. My new machine runs Mac OS X 10.9.5. Every time I try to click on Help > Registration it returns an error message 'Registration Unsuccessful" "A problem was encountered while trying to send information over the Internet".  I have no issue with Internet connection. Just wondering why this is happening and is there any way we can register this application.

    Hi Ksb2009,
This version of Acrobat was never tested on this version of Mac and is unsupported.
I would suggest you may upgrade to latest version of Acrobat and that will work fine. It has loads of new and enhanced features than Acrobat 8.

  • Possible fix for Adobe PDF plug ins (Safari & Print) on Snow Leopard

I think I just discovered a "fix" for the Adobe PDF problem, as well as for some other miscelanious problems with Snow Leopard applications. I found the fix for the plug in from PDF on Adobe's website. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50983.html
Following these directions (changing the option from 64-bit, to 32-bit when the application loads), seems to have cured the plug-in for PDF from Adobe and loads the plug in properly.
There is a link, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/512/cpsid_51248.html for changing the settings similarly for Automator to fix the "save as PDF" in Print.
I've also applied this "suggested fix" to Mail and Address Book, to see if it remedies some of the continued glitching and crashes on my iMac, even after the latest update (10.6.1). No problems with my PBG4, as it's not Snow Leopard nor Intel.
    Hope this solution is useful.

**  Why can't I re-install Photoshop CS or open Acrobat 6.0 Standard in my MacOS 10.6.8 iMac?  **

    Thank you,

You need to fix your Rosetta emulation. (Re-)install it from your OSX install DVD or download it from Apple.

  • Printer fail with Snow Leopard 10.6.1

I have two GCC Elite printers (XL 20/600 & XL 12/600) connected on our office network. Upgraded to Snow Leopard, got them to print by using LPD process but now find that printing fails intermittently if there are a number of files in the queue.
We are design studio, using Adobe CS4. The files are no bigger or detailed than when we were on Leopard.
    Any ideas?

Hi TDCP - welcome to the forums.
Printer drivers have taken a hit with SL.
Unless you know for certain that your current drivers are fully compatible with SL, you may need to look for updates in that regard. Same goes for your Adobe products.
    Anything in CUPS that helps?

  • Adobe Reader Plugins for Safari 5 on Snow Leopard

Our software uses Adobe Reader to open, edit, and save Pdf Forms.  Most of our customer base is on Windows but we now have some MAC users as well.  Everything works fine except using Safari 5 on Snow Leopard.  It appears as if the plug ins are not loading properly or at all when Reader 9 is installed.  When a user goes to open a PDF Form, nothing happens.
My personal Macbook which I have at the office, is Leopard with Safari 5 and when I download Reader 9, I can see the plugins in Safari and everthing works fine.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

On Snow Leopard 10.6, you need to run Safari in 32 bit mode to get the Adobe Reader Plugin to load and launch properly.
    To do this,
    1) exit Safari.
    2) in the Finder go to your Applications folder, select Safari and do File->Get Info
    3) Check 'Open in 32-bit mode' in the General pane of that dialog
    4) Relaunch Safari
    5) Under the Safari Help->Installed Plug-ins you should now see the Adobe Reader plugin support.
I am able to get Safari to open forms inline in Reader this way.  I am not able to get the Adobe Forms with Adobe Javascript running in this mode.  Any insight on how this might be done would be helpful.  It does work in the Standalone Reader, but so far no luck enabling it in the Safari plugin.

  • DTrace appears to fail in Snow Leopard

I am trying dtrace for the first time in Snow Leopard (just installed) and I am getting the following error, no matter how simple .d script I run:
dtrace: failed to compile script syscallsperproc.d: "/usr/lib/dtrace/darwin.d", line 282: thread_id is not a member of struct thread
I tried to upgrade Xcode as well, hoping that will update dtrace front-end as well, but the error didn't go away. I tried to comment line 282 for testing, and other data structures seem to have problems in darwin.d and other .d internal scripts. Does anyone else have this issue?
Any insight is appreciated - thanks.

On the same script I still get the error:
    sudo dtrace -n 'syscall::read:entry {printf("%s",execname);}'
dtrace: invalid probe specifier syscall::read:entry {printf("%s",execname);}: "/usr/lib/dtrace/darwin.d", line 282: thread_id is not a member of struct thread
My dtrace and command library are different, and I wonder why:
