Adobe Acrobat XI: PDF Portfolios - Mouse Scroll Wheel Non-Functional

This is a companion question to the one I just posted about the preview window, and it's much simpler.
Put bluntly, the wheel on my mouse does not work when positioned over the list of files in a PDF portfolio. I know it's not a problem with the mouse, because the wheel does work when I use an older version of Acrobat at my office via a remote desktop connection.
Any solutions? Is this just something new I'm going to have to live with?
Cheers,
Tom

I can replicate the issue with the scroll wheel. If you click on a file within the portfolio you can use the arrow keys to navigate.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI: PDF Portfolios - Nonfunctional Preview Window

    Good afternoon, all.
I'm running AA XI Pro on a Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop. Win7/64-bit platform.
My question focuses on the creation and viewing of PDF portfolios created from converted email.
The conversion itself seems to work fine. I select the desired email(s) in Outlook 2013, give the "create" or "append" command (depending on whether the target portfolio is a new or existing one), and the portfolio is created. However, when the portfolio window first opens, it does not give me a list of all the emails I have combined into that file. It shows only a blank screen, with a preview opened at the bottom of my screen for one of the email messages. When I click on either the "Layout" or "Files" button (at the top of the screen), it does finally show the running list of individual emails that have been merged into the portfolio. But then the preview window does not change to reflect the different, individual emails on which I am single-clicking above. It just stays frozen on the default email preview it selected when I first created/opened the portfolio file.
As I continue navigating around the portfolio, the problem will occasionally relent ... but only a little. And it's utterly arbitrary. Sometimes a single-click on one of the listed emails above will generate a preview window below. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes the individual email that worked just moments ago won't give the same preview when I click on it again.
What on earth is the deal with that? I've never seen this before, and I've worked with PDF portfolios since Adobe first engineered them.
    Regards,
    Tom

Tom, I just tried and can't seem to duplicate your issue at all. It sounds like a resource issue with the computer, have you tried to open the portfolio with just Acrobat running? How much ram do you have?
Are you able to open the portfolio on another computer without issues?
I also have been using portfolios regularly for years, including with Outlook, and haven't run across the problem you describe.

  • Unable to scroll through pages of a PDF with mouse scroll wheel

I have identical computer setups at home and at my office (27" iMac running Yosemite, a Logitech mouse (M-BJ58), and Acrobat Pro XI). On my office Mac, every increment of the mouse's scroll wheel advances one page, but on my home Mac, I have to scroll the wheel several times before it advances to the next page, and then once it does, no amount of scrolling will make it advance any further in either direction. I've tried everything I can think of, and I can't figure out how to make the scrolling behavior at home match that of the office.
In Acrobat, Page Layout is set to Single Page and Zoom is set to Fit Page in both places. Any ideas?

Answer, no, I do not know the cause. Single web site problems are not either Safari or the operating system.
I seriously doubt if resetting the iPad will fix the problem. If you still have problems, contact Macy's tech support.

  • Mouse Scroll Wheel Broken in Commenting Pane

    Hello,
In Acrobat XI Pro, the mouse scroll wheel does not work for me in the Comments List area of the Comment pane. I've read other posts where users are reporting the same problem. This worked in Acrobat X.
I'm a technical writer and frequently get upwards of 50 comments in a PDF that I need to scroll through. It is a huge time waster to use the arrow keys or move my mouse to click. Adobe, is there a fix for this problem? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I've tried two different mice.
    Thanks!
    Justin

Found the problem.  For years the mouse portion of my xorg.conf said
    protocol    PS/2
... as noted previously, that always worked, including scroll wheel usage.  But a little hunting turned up the advice to change it to IMPS/2 and now it works again.  For the record, the complete entry now says:
    Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier    "Maus"
        Driver        "mouse"
        Option        "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
        Option        "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option        "CorePointer"
        Option        "Buttons"    "5"
        Option        "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection

  • Viewing a video (YouTube, etc.) disables the mouse scroll wheel - switch to Opera and scroll on a page, return to FF and wheel is reenabled.

After viewing a video (usually YouTube, but not exclusively; either directly, or embedded in a web page), the mouse scroll wheel will become disabled. If I then switch over to Opera and use the scroll wheel on any open page, the scroll wheel will be re-enabled upon return to FireFox.

    Important questions:
What ActiveX control are you using?
I'm using the PDF activex control to display a PDF on the front panel of my VI.
What version of LabVIEW are you using?
     I'm using LabVIEW 7.1
What "control pages" are you talking about?
The pages of the PDF: it has several pages. If a mouse is held over it the user can scroll using the scroll wheel, or if they right click they can access the Adobe menu.
It's these that I'd like to inhibit them doing.
    Thanks

  • Overlay an item over an activex control and/ or disabling the mouse scroll wheel

There seems to be several references in the discussion forum to placing a picture control over an activex item to prevent the activex item being selected etc.
The thing is, I can't seem to do it: the activex control is always on top, no matter what I do and no matter what control, or decoration I use.
    What am I doing wrong?
Failing that, is there another way of stopping the user getting access to the activx control?
Essentially what I want to do is stop them accidentally scrolling through the control's pages with the mouse scroll wheel. I've stopped them accessing the scroll bars, BUT it is still possible to use the scroll wheel unfortunately.
Something else I tried was a tab control: placing the activex control on a page and then trying to make the page on top transparent. Needless to say that didn't work....

    Some other info:
You  know that you can control Photoshop input fields http://screencast.com/t/ApVseKYRxz with the mouse scroll wheel. Pretty handy indeed. You just have to click on the field and spin the wheel and values changing.
    The problem:
My mouse wheel cannot control the input fields in this way. I select the field, spin the wheel and nothing happen. When I spin it faster a couple of times, than the values get changing - pretty strange ha? Scrolling normally - do not change, scrolling fast change. But to scroll fast is not an option because I cannot change the values slightly with small increments... There is a bug really...
What I tried and didn't work:
    1. Restarted Photoshop
    2. Plug/Unplug and change different USB slots for both receivers.
    3. Reintalling latest SetPoint Drivers (after uninstall I run ccleaner)
    4. Put all SetPoint settings to defaults (because I programmed some mouse keys to Photoshop specifically).
    5. Install earlier versions of SetPoint drivers.
    6. Set my UEFI BIOS to defaults.
    7. Restarted the BIOS to load all the drivers again, but still no luck
(the last think I didn't do is to reinstall Photoshop)
What I have investigated so far:
    1. When I restart the computer and run Photoshop it works perfect HA! , but after a seconds it do not words again ...
    2. When I stop SetPoint software, when I shut down it, it words perfect.
    3. When I unplug keyboard receiver it words perfect, but I do not have keyboard:)
    4. Everything works perfect in Illustrator and After effects.
    5. Also I noticed that when I scroll images in CameraRaw - http://screencast.com/t/xKnn6cY9 the I have to scroll harder and spin the wheel harder to scroll - the same problem.
    6. Also in photoshop and bridge scrolling here - is pretty smooth and works perfect - http://screencast.com/t/75IXMG6Zria
Maybe the most important part - When I start experiencing the problem:
I had same configuration , same everything and everything worked fine.
I installed SSD disk, reinstalled Windows (same like before), updated my BIOS to UEFI. Installed Photoshop and SetPoint and problem started.
Posted same request to Logitech, but want to ask you for help too.
    Thanks!

    Hi all,
    I found a solution.
    1. Uninstall your current Setpoint Driver.
    2. Run CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    3. Download an older version of SetPoint - http://www.oldapps.com/setpoint.php
    (I used SetPoint 6.15 (x64), I tried 6.20, 6.32, 6.50 , but no luck)
    4. Now everything is all right!
    Thanks!
Can somebody mark this as solved? Thanks!

  • Loss of Mouse Scroll Wheel Function

I took a leap and a leap of faith upgrading from Firefox 3.something to 11.0. I'm working through the little annoying differences in the user interface, but I'm having a problem with scrolling.
I can't put my finger on any particular web site or page size, but I find that occasionally my mouse scroll wheel will stop working with Firefox and I must use the scroll bar to move through a document. Once it goes, it's gone. I can move to another tab that previously scrolled with the wheel and it no longer does.
If I close Firefox and restart it, the scroll wheel works again (even with the page on which it previously quit. If I leave Firefox running but switch to another application, the scroll wheel works there, so it's unlikely that the driver has become corrupted.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 11.0 (downloaded and installed 4/5/2012)

I doubt that I have a PDF open in another tab because I don't use the PDF plug-in to Firefox. When I go to a web site with a PDF and click on it, I get a pop-up that asks if I want to open it (I use Foxit) or save the file. I often have a PDF open when I'm on a web site however. I just opened one and everything's still OK. Then I went to a web site where I clicked on a PDF and told it to open it with Foxit, and things are still OK.
Like I said, I haven't yet found anything that consistently makes it happen.
As for updates, I really want to know if there's anything specific that might cause this problem. I don't like to make updates, not even Windows updates, unless I see that the update either solves a problem or gives me a feature that I really need. I look at the Windows updates and they all seem to be about security, which isn't a problem here. In the case of installing the new Firefox, I was getting tired of web sites telling me that I had an unsupported web browser (though usually I could get what I wanted). I'm NOT going to just let Windows do what it wants with my computer. I depend on it too much to do that.
Could it be that something that Firefox needs is running out of memory after browsing for a while? Is there something I could check for that? I think I have 1 GB of RAM in this Pentium 4.

  • Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0 does not work in FireFox 4.How do i directly convert pages to PDF??Why is that your products are not backward compatable.U people are in the IT industry and should know this.Shame on You people.learn somthing form the IE team

While Updating to Fire Fox 4. It said Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0 is not supported. How come 3.6 supports but not 4. I believe you people have never heard of the term "Backward Compatibility" .U people will loose your customer/support base if every new version doesn't support some existing stuff.

    '''Problem Solved FINALLY !'''
    Solution:
I just updated my '''Adobe Acrobat X Pro''' to '''Version 10.1.0'''.By the way, I have to complain, Adobe is really slow in solving this problem...
Here is the official link for the Adobe Acrobat update.[http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135 <click me!>http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5135<click me!>]
After update, the extention changed from "Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF 1.0" into "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1". And the '''"Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.1" is compatiable with the firefox 4.0.1'''. A screenshot is attached as a proof.

I am able to use Acrobat using a wireless router.
    Try the following:
Get the latest update from Manufacturer. Then go to printer setup utility and remove the current version. ( Do this anyway even if the same version).
Next plug Printer into a direct USB Connection. Now install Driver. Go back to Printer Setup Utility. and add Printer.
Now print a document, to verify printer works.
Now quit application, then shut down Computer.
Now switch usb printer connector from USB connector on computer to USB connector on your router.
    Restart Computer.
Now open an application that uses a printer and open a document. go to Printer and Look for the Following:
Disregard the printer I have listed here that's my printer. If you see a Printer like this add to list by choosing the printer.
Now go to Printer Setup verify it has been added. Make it the Default printer.
Now Acrobat "should" be able to print from you printer.
(Please note information is given by an Experienced User of Acrobat. I am not an employee of Adobe.)

I have the same problem for a couple of months, and I had to use a plug-in in Firefox to print a web page. I really need the web page address in the footer for reference purposes which Chrome print (Ctrl+P) does not produce.
The error message is: A supported version of Acrobat could not be found. Please install or update Acrobat to 11.0.9 or higher."
After updating to Acrobat 11.0.10 and repairing the installation the problem did not go away.
Deleting and re-installing the extension did not help either.

  • Mouse scroll wheel not working correctly.

Just installed Firefox 4 and my mouse scroll wheel is not working correctly. When opening the program, I can scroll as normal for about 5/10 minutes. Then, suddenly, the mouse scroll wheel no longer works. I've since found that it is actually scrolling outside of Firefox. E.g. I had Outlook open and it was scrolling through my Outlook even though Firefox was the open window. I checked this multiple times and it always seems to be the case.
Checked about:config as advised, everything looks correct on the mousewheel settings (i.e everything is set to default). Mouse drivers are up to date. No problems with any other programs. This issue started occurring in Firefox 4 beta. I switched back to 3.6 so I could continue scrolling. Updating to Firefox 4 caused the issue to recur.

It seems a lot of people are having problems with the Mighty Mouse's scroll ball. I actually thought I was done for after just a few weeks of using my first (wired) one. But here I am years later with my wireless variant, beeing perfectly happy with it (in case you don't know, the wireless Mighty Mouse is a much better option due to it's laser based tracking system). In my experience, getting rid of fluff that interferes with the ball is quite easy on both types. Try blowing really hard directly at the trackball (optionally while you press it down with some pointed device) a few times. Rotate it and repeat as needed. Alternatively roll the mouse upside down on the microfiber cloth that probably came with your Mac.

  • How do I open the Special Edition Acrobat X PDF Portfolio themes?

I chose these themes as my complimentary benefit when I installed Acrobat X, and downloaded the ZIP file to my hard drive without incident.  I then extracted the files within the ZIP file.  However, when I open Acrobat, and attempt to import the four themes, my browser won't recognize that the files are there - and I have no option to search for "All Files" or otherwise change the three-letter extension.
Am I going about this the wrong way?
    Tom

In Acrobat X PDF Portfolios there are two levels of "templates" to customize the style of the document interface.
A Layout (internally called a "navigator") has the file extension .NAV and controls the layout of the Portfolio, the way the cards animate, where the scrollers are, and so forth. Layouts are written in Flex.
A Theme is a SWF file "skin" which is applied over the top of a Navigator - this is what's in the Special Edition pack. Standalone Themes are usually drawn in Flash Pro or Illustrator, and contain no code. They're simply a collection of graphics with pre-defined symbol names.
To apply a Theme, create/open a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro, and from the Edit Pane, choose Visual Themes -> Import Custom Theme, and select the SWF. It will be embedded into the PDF Portfolio, but won't be permanently-added to the Acrobat panes. Themes can be applied to almost any Layout, but each time you change the Layout your theme will be reset.
There's a detailed video explaining how all these things work on AUC.

  • Use of mouse scroll wheel in Forms 6i runtime

Is there any way to make the mouse scroll wheel work in Forms 6i runtime? Does it work in some areas and not in others? Ultimately, the user would like to use the scroll wheel to navigate through rows in a block instead of dragging the scrollbar. We also have data in a particular row and column that has scroll bar. I'm hearing that in some instances it works, don't know if I believe, not sure if it's workstation dependent. Client workstations are generally XP.

I think (can't ckeck at the moment) that an animated gif will only run when deployed on the web (you need the JVM)
As I said, I think this is the case but can't confirm it at the moment.
