Adobe Air File Icon Transparency (OS-X)

Hi All,
I am building a variation of Coverflow for a project at the
moment, and have run into a snag. I am using
getDirectoryListingAsync to get the files in a directory, and
through the files array it returns, retrieve the icons. However on
OS-X (not sure about Windows) the icons that are being returned do
you have an alpha channel / transparency mask. Has anyone got
around this problem? A bit annoying, the icons appear perfectly,
just with a white background.
Any help on how to get transparent icons would be greatly
appreciated.

Well in that case
1. Delete the concerned application folder from the systems Applications folder
2. Check for enough space in main drive
3. Install from the local drive (there are issues with sidecar installers and network installs)
I encountered confirmed issues with these points

I accidentally associated an Adobe AIR file to open Adobe Acrobat in it's stead, now an otherwise easily fixed problem has been causing me far too much anger.
Basically I downloaded an .air file after recently reformatting my computer, and I tried to open it with Acrobat. Now, since there is no actual application and or shortcut created by AIR I can't just tell the file to use that. I've found that I'm not alone in this issue, have tried a few things I've read on both this forum and others, and have come to no resolution as of yet. This file isn't anything of any great significance, but it bugs me so much that at this point I just want to know how to fix this and win this little battle.

I opened the resource monitor and you can see a screenshot of what is going on when I try to save a simple, 9 Kb graphic. (I'm saving an RGB JPG, not a PNG or animated GIF file. Doing anything complex / memory intensive than saving or simple edits in PS is almost impossible.)
As you can see from the screencap below, when I save (it doesn't make a difference if it is save vs. save to web or a network or local drive) Photoshop becomes unresponsive. (From past experiences, if I try to switch to a non-Adobe program it will also freeze and sometimes crash.) When PS becomes unresponsive, the NT Kernel & System immediately goes to the top of the list and uses 200+ threads.
From there Photoshop will typically be frozen for about a minute, then will recover and take another minute or two to finish the save. At that point PS is okay, but the rest of the computer is still frozen with CPU oscillating up to almost 100%.
As soon as the NT Kernel & System settles down, everything is back to normal again (as long as I haven't used other programs, which in one case required a hard reboot.)
It is pretty clear the problem is rooted in Adobe / Window 7 as I only have this problem with Adobe programs. (Illustrator isn't as bad, but I've had problems with it as well.)
The question is: How do I fix this, as it is killing my ability to work?

AIR File Icon (For Native Installer)

Hi,
I am generating AIR application as native installer (.exe). I want to have a custom icon for my .exe file.
I have specified the icons in application descriptor file as

But this icon does not appear to be .exe file icon, It appears as application installed file icon. I want to have different icons for application installed icon (Application Icon) and separate icon for application installer (.air or .exe file custom icon)
Kindly suggest any solution

In this case you need to update installer icon manually via third-party app like freeware "ResourceHacker" http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Launching an Adobe AIR file from Director 11

I am not much of a Lingo programmer and am trying to figure out how to launch an external application from within Director 11. Have done alot of searching and reading on the internet and everything I found points to using the following script or BuddyAPI
I am using the following
open the moviePath & "cme_managingpain.air"
This is part of a canned "RollOver Graphic Change" script. On mouseUp it calls that line.
I also looked at BuddyAPI but don't know enough lingo to understand how to use it.
Any ideas on what is wrong with my line of script?
Has anyone tried lauching an AIR file within Director?
The air file is in the same folder as my .dir file.

The problem with using the native 'open()' command you posted is that you probably also need to provide the full path to the executable that will open the .air file, and what's more if something goes wrong there is no way for you, the developer, to programatically determine this. In that sense it is better to use the Buddy API xtra - just be sure to remember to distribute it with your projector:

Adobe air custom icon

Hi
I've tried several examples but I can't seem to get the desktop icon (i.e. the icon in the top left of the form) to change on a windows host.
Does anyone know how to do this?
I'm using Flex 3.

the AIR application executable (file properties) does not include any information from the AIR description file (application.xml).
Is it possible to compile an AIR application with file property information?

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news/media sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

ADOBE CC FILE ICONS MISSING

Not sure what happened, but all of my adobe icons are missing (show as a white icon, or a white icon with the icon its supposed to be in the middle of it). A few days ago they were all showing up.
How can I fix this?
I've tried assigning the correct programs via associating the file type protocol.

Adobe Air Application Installer on Utilities Folder

I just got my first mac early this year so I still haven't gotten the hang of the Mac OS. Anyway, I installed Adobe Photoshop CS4 a few days back but I uninstalled it a few days after. I noticed when I opened my utilities folder I saw the following:
Adobe Air Applications Installer
Adobe Air Uninstaller
Adobe Installer Folder
Adobe Utilites Folder
I can't remember if the files were there even before I installed the Adobe Photoshop CS4 program. Is it safe for me to remove these files? If it is, how do I remove them? Thanks!

Just move them to desktop, restart and see if you get any alerts.
Also check in System Preferences for Version Cue and if you have it, turn it off.

Trouble installing....wants Adobe air.......

I tried to install the adobe download assistant. I went through the bar as if install was complete then a window popped up that said it needed an Adobe Air file and to go download the newest version of Adobe Air. So I tried to download Adobe Air and it popped up the same window asking for adobe air. I'm on a Mac......any suggestions?

Adobe Air is a requirement to use the Adobe Download Assistant. I would recommend you try downloading and installing Adobe Air from http://get.adobe.com/air/?promoid=BUIGQ.

Adobe Air. Damaged installation.

On start up I get a pop up " The installation of this application is damaged. Try reinstalling etc." Have tried reinstalling Adobe Air and get the same reply. I have now trawled through my registery files, deleting all Adobe Air files in order to get a clean installation and have reistalled AA but still get a "Damaged Installation" Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hi,
It's hard to determine exactly what is causing that error without knowing what app is causing it. Since AIR is just a runtime, it by itself isn't the cause of the problem. I think I'd try a couple of things.
First, I'd initiate an uninstall of AIR via the uninstall programs control panel. The first thing you'll be presented with is a list of AIR applications that are installed. Here's what mine displays, note the 3 AIR applications I have installed on this system. Click cancel once you've written down the list of applications.
Next, launch msconfig and click the "startup" tab. Examine the list displayed against the list you wrote down earlier to determine if you have an AIR application launching at startup. If so, uncheck the app in msconfig and click apply. Reboot and see if the error still occurs. After resolving the error, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the offending application.

Based on the announcement yesterday from Apple to let 3rd party code run on the iPhone, ie Adobe AIR files, does anyone know if there any plans to restart the Air SDK for the iPhone and make it like it is on Android?

Adobe Air crashing Win 7 and will not install

My problem began with me trying to do a full system scan on my computer with a few different programs and it failing 5% in. Each program stopped at Adobe
AIR files. So I googled Adobe AIR and noticed that there were viruses running under that name, so I called McAfee and they told me that there was a problem
with Adobe Air. I have tried to uninstall and nothing happens. I have tried to install the latest update and it will say "installing" for a couple of hours with no
progress showing in the line, so with my lack of patience I cancel update and even the CANCELLING window stays up until I use the task manager to close it! At
one point i had my computer tell me that Adobe AIR was corrupt. HELP ME PLEASE!!

I'm trying to download Adobe Air. Getting Error that I need newer version, but keep getting same error. Any help here?

Each time I try to download Adobe Air, I keep getting an error pop-up stating that I need to go to adobe to get a newer version. Each time I attempt to do this, I receive the same error. I'm able to get to the point where Adobe Air Installer icon appears. I'm able to click on this icon but then I get the error. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Anyone have success getting through this problem? Thank you!

If the Adobe product is not compatible with Lion, it's still Adobe's issue. Even still, this is a MacBook Pro hardware forum, so if you think Lion caused it, try going to the Lion forum, maybe someone will be able to give you quick/helpful support.

My adobe air is damaged

it keeps telling me to update my adobe air file. then it says it is damaged, and to contact author for new one. I have tried unistalling and reinstalling a new one. it keeps saying the same thing

I had the same problem. The advice I got from Adobe support (after a three day wait) fixed it.
1. Windows: Uninstall the previous version of Adobe Help by using the Add or Remove Programs utility
Macintosh: Remove and trash the application from the Applications>Adobe folder
2. Windows: Delete the following directory: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 (copy and paste the phrase above into the Windows Explorer file manager)
Macintosh: Go Home>Library>Preferences and delete chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 (As it happened I couldn't find this file on my mac, but stage #1 had fixed the problem anyway).
3. IMPORTANT: Empty the Trash or Recycling Bin to ensure proper removal of all files.
4. Manually update the application by downloading the Air file from: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/
Additional information:
This installation error has been observed under two conditions:
1. If a user has an older prerelease or beta version of a Creative Suite 5 application previously installed
2. If a user simultaneously updates the AIR runtime at the same time as updating the Adobe Help application. The Adobe Help application is built and managed using the Adobe AIR framework. Because Adobe AIR has its own installation and uninstallation procedures, Adobe Help application updates are independent of the CS5 installer itself. There is no need to uninstall the entire Creative Suite or any associated product to resolve this issue.

I have created a help system using RoboHelp and created adobe Air file. I want to install the help file in my Android phone. how do i install the help in my phone. I have installed Adobe Air application through Android market. but i am unable to install the air application. is there a way to convert the AIR file as PKG and install it?
