Adobe air sending messages

Hello,
Am working on an Adobe AIR application.See i have two type of users in my application ,"nurses and patients".I jus create the UI ie,both of them have a login and register pages..when both of them get logged in they have there own home pages..In their home page they have a buttons "compose new message"..both of them could send messages between them.wen patient send a message,nurse will get an alert about that message(i mean alert inside the app..not like SMS).Actually..this is a mobile application ie mobile to mobile transactions are goin to happen..
THis application is goin to run on smartphones..
My question is:
1.How can i do this messaging part?Am new to AIR applications..so i have no idea about this..please help anybody..

Can adobe air send SMS on ios and android without opening the native sms app?

Is it possible to programatically create and send an SMS text message on android and ios using adobe AIR? I have had success using navigatetourl to create the sms message, but was curious to know if its something that AIR is capable of or if os-specific native development is required to accomplish this.
I'm using flash builder 4.6 and AIR 15.

Im not the best/smartest programmer in the world and I was able to eventually get it down. There are a decent number of tutorials that you can follow to get started on them. I originally followed Lee Brimelow's video tutorials on gotoandlearn.com but the interfaces for Eclipse have changed quite a bit since then and those videos were also done when Native Extensions were only part of a beta version of AIR, but you might still be able to take something away from them. Since I first started getting into Native Extensions, I have built several ANEs for Android including being able to detect phone calls, retrieve metadata for media files without having to have loaded/played them first, and more. The Android Java documentation portal and Stack Overflow will start to become your two best friends.

Adobe AIR Error Message - Application Descriptor

Upon starting my computer I keep getting an error message for Adobe AIR stating, "Application descriptor could not be found for this application. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance." I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe AIR THREE times and have restared my computer with each new re-installation. The error message is still showing. Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

I successfully gotten rid of it for WINDOW 7.
This can be caused by some error/conflict with Air Adobe and any start-up programs scheduled to "open" "activated" at the first appearance of your desktop.
To find out what programs are running at the startup:
     Click "Start"
     type "msconfig" in the search engine at the bottom
     click on "msconfig" icon appearing on top
     a pop-up window titled "System Configuration" will appear
     Click on "Startup" tab
     At this point, I unclicked unnecessary programs that are not crucial in operating my computer.
     Click "apply" or "Ok"
     another pop-up window will ask you if you want to restart your computer.
I am not sure if I solved the "conflict' but certainly got rid of the annoying error message by turning off some "unnecessary" software that was automatically set to start as the computer booted.

Adobe Air Error message on start-up.

I have been getting the same error message on start up for some time. (Adobe Air is damaged). I have tried uninstalling, re-installing but still get the message and on certain websites I get 'missing plug-in' messages (usually involving playback of audio or video). I am running Windows Vista.

Adobe AIR is not the Adobe Flash Player plugin for browsers, so the 'missing plugin on certain websites' problem is a problem of the Flash Player, not AIR.
I'm wondering what happens when you uninstall and then reinstall both AIR and Flash Player via these links:

Photoshop CS5 "Help" function not working - Adobe Air error message?

Installed Photoshop CS5, and thought everything was working okay, but when I click on Photoshop Help, I get the error message "Adobe Air - This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing......" I have re-installed first Adobe Air, same problem and then uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop CS5, but the problem remains. When I first tried to use the Help function it tried to update something and for some reason this failed. I'm wondering if others have seen the same problem and know of a solution? Thanks, David.

Hello: there may be a configuration issue going on here. I have escalated this issue to our Help app engineering team. In the meanwhile, please try the following:
Uninstall the Adobe Help application: go to your Application folder > Adobe > Adobe Help (drag it to the Trash)
Delete the following directory:
USER NAME (home) > Library > Preferences > chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.
Empty the Trash
Manually update the application via this link: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/
Select "Photoshop" in Step 1 and then click the Install badge in Step 2. Make sure to select "Open" (and not Save) in the installation dialog box to fully update the app.
Note: The previous instructions did not include deleting the old application or its preference file. This will help ensure that it is thoroughly updated.

Adobe-Air Error Message?

Hello Folks,
I have installed CS6 and selected Adobe Support Center from the help menu. I keep getting the following error message.
"The installation of this application is damaged. Try to re-install the application or contact the publisher"
I tried re-installing CS6 but am still getting the same error message, with a bouncing Adobe Air icon in my dock.
Any suggestions to remedy this issue would be appreciated.

Problem with adobe air ajax PUT request

Sorry for my english.
I would like to send a XML document to a server with AJAX
XmlHttpRequest Object.
I use the PUT method.
Adobe Air sends the PUT request without the contents and set
the contents-length header to 0.
If I replace the PUT method by a POST method Adobe Air sends
the request with the document, but the service on my server do not
allow POST requests.
If I open the same page with Firefox, IE and Safari, all
works fine.
I do not understand why Adobe Air is not able to send my xml
document with a PUT request but he can if I replace the method PUT
by a POST ?!?
I cannot change the implementation of the remote service so I
need to send a PUT request.

Maybe the server is not configured to manage POST request or

BBC iplayer says Adobe Air needs updating: Adobe Air will not install, but says I have a later version already on my PC!

Use Firefox. Have BBC iPlayer which will not load, saying I need a newer version of Adobe Air: when trying to instal Adobe Air, get message saying I already have a more recent version. It worked when I was using IE, but not since changing to Firefox.

After lots of trial and error, I was finally able to install iPlayer on my MacBook Pro.
Firstly remove Adobe Air (Applications, Utilities, Adobe Air Uninstaller).
Reboot (not sure if it is needed but it is what I did).
Download Adobe Air 2.5 from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85304.html
Then retry installing iPlayer from the BBC webpage. I ignored the prompt from Adobe Air to upgrade to the latest version (3.1).

Adobe air doesn't submit updated content from ckeditor

Hello,
I'm wiriting applicaiton using adobe air and part of it is to display in iframe code of website with built in ckeditor (http://ckeditor.com).
The problem is that when I want to submit modified text using ckeditor adobe air send old content.
I'm trying to get new text from ckeditor element using:
     1. CK method "var content = CKEDITOR.instances.editor_content.getData();"
     2. jQuery call: "jQuery("#editor_content").val()"
but both methods return always the initial text, not the modified one. It works without problems with all standard browsers (Chrome, FF, IE etc.).
to test this issue you can open this url within adobe air window (i.e. as iframe):

then update content and try to "send to flash". It will send original content, not the modified one.
Does anyone have any idea of workaround for this that can force Adobe Air to send send back updated content of ckeditor ?
I would prefer to find solution on Adobe Air side, without experimenting with other versions of CK or alternative implementations of WSIWYG editors because it's part of bigger project.

The problem is fixed:
With Windows Fix It at least I was able to uninstall Adobe Air. After Reisnatllation of Air and my application the system is running quite wonderful.

Adobe Air starting up error

We use a motormanagement software for Yachts (N2Kview from Maretron ) on our computer. This software is using Adobe Air. When we start up the computer we will get an Adobe Air error message in Dutch on the desktop. Translation: "The installation of this program is damaged. Try to install the program again or contact the supplier". When we push the OK button everything works fine.
To solve the problem I already deleted Adobe Air with the device manager like the Adobe website advises and reinstalled Adobe Air again. This made no difference. Can somebody help me what to do to get ride of this error message.
The OS on the computer is windows 7 home edition and the Adobe Air version is 2.6

I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR. Microsoft has a utility that can help resolve installation problems. Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you? When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system. Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

Air Error Message when opening Photoshop

Hello,
I'm getting an Adobe Air error message when I open Photoshop (on Windows 7 Enterprise 32-Bit), "Adobe Air - The installation of this application is damaged". I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current release of Air, tried reinstalling an older version of Air, tried deleting Air using the Microsft "Fix It" app and then reinstalling Air, tried deleting all instances of Air including manually removing anything in AppData and then reinstalling Air, tried the Air Zapper script that I found in the Adobe Forums and then reinstalling Air, tried uninstalling both Photoshop and Air and reinstalling but everytime I open Photoshop I receive that error message. Even with Air uninstalled I still receive the error message. It does seem to be happening in only one profile though, Photoshop opens fine in other profiles. I'm open to any suggestions...Thank you in Advance!!!

Been battling this for some time now, really hoping someone can help point me in the right direction... Thanks!

Sending email from Adobe AIR

Hi,
Does Adobe AIR have the ability to send automatically
generated email messages without using the mailto: command to open
an Outlook or Mail Application? I basically am looking for a way to
allow a user to compose messages within an Adobe AIR application
and when they press a send button in the application it sends the
message to the appropriate email address.
If Adobe AIR can't handle this as a standalone application
what would you recommend as a work around?

I'm pretty sure the way to do it is to contact a web service
and have that send the email.
