Adobe Bridge is corrupting my files. What do I do???

I have the Adobe Cloud, so use Adobe CS6 Bridge.
In the last 2 days I have run 2 Batch Renames (I've done this multiple times on the same software, same computer) on nikon raw files (NEF).
There have been about 200 files in each batch. When the renaming has run through, it changes all the tumbnails into small blurs of the original images, and when I look in the Finder it no longer shows a tumbnail, but a grey rectangle with 'exec' in the top left hand corner.
I tried to open the Adobe Application Manager to uninstall and reinstall Bridge, but came up with this error message:
Sorry, there seems to be a problem with the installation process (Error code: A12E1) For troubleshooting tips please visit our customer support page.
PLEASE HELP I'm in the middle of my final year and cannot afford to lose any more of my work!

  • Adobe Bridge CC cannot obtain files from this device.

I am getting this error message when I attempt to upload videos to my Mac from my Canon 7D:
Adobe Bridge CC cannot obtain files from this device. Please be sure the device is properly plugged in and the battery is full charged.
Battery is full charged and camera is connected properly. I have restarted the camera, Bridge, and the computer as well. I tried reinstalling Bridge and it allowed me to upload 3 of the video files. Then the error message came back. There were a few RAW images on the camera that I was able to upload, but when I tried the video again I got the error message. I read a post about renaming the folder that you are saving to as a fix. I tried that as well, but it did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Bruce Fraser - 4:17pm Jun 14, 04 PST (#5 of 21) Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.
            • Drains the camera battery
            • Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
            • Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera

  • Adobe Bridge saving my edited files in an 'unknown format' - Losing my work

When I edit an image in Photoshop through Adobe Bridge and save it as a jpeg, it is not saving as selected. Instead, it is saving the edited image in an 'unknown' and unusable format. I loose  my editing work. I discovered this doesn't happen if I save the image in a new folder but I would still like to fix this problem; I've been editing for two years without this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it?

Adobe Bridge does not "save", open or edit anything other than the metadata.  The files are saved by whatever application hands them  to them, whether that be Photoshop, Camera Raw, Illustrator, MS Word or whatever.
If files are being lost in just one folder, you have corruption in that particular folder.  The first step is to go to the Tools menu in Bridge, and run the "Purge Cache for Folder 'xxxxyyy'"  command.  The next step is to create a brand new folder, not inside the corrupted one, and move all your files there.
You should also run Apple's Disk Utility to Repair the Disk and to Repair Permissions for your disk.
Next time, please provide details about your setup.

  • Adobe Bridge CS 4 missing file properties

I'm working with photoshop files (CS 4) and a few seem to have dropped some of the metadata from the file properties in the bridge browser. Dimensions, Resolution, Bit depth, and Color Mode are missing, and the Color Space is listed as Untagged, even though it is in fact tagged as Adobe 1998 in the Photoshop file. It's as if I inadvertently hit it a quick key to dump the information, as it has only occurred on a couple of files. The thumbnail appears smaller too. Any ideas?

I tried all of the above to no avail. I saved a copy in another folder and the file still had the diminished thumbnail and missing data. I added another layer (the files contain many layers and adjustment layers) to the file, cropped and re-saved and it picked up the missing data on the new version. I made some benign changes on my original, but alas it didn't work.
When I get a chance I'll do some more testing on this. It may have something to do with I import certain layers. I have been flowing layers in from both Aperture and Bridge, and from the latter, sometimes as smart objects. So maybe there is something going on there.
Except for this minor glitch, and some more serious PS stability issues, I am preferring the Bridge/Photoshop workflow to the Aperture/Photoshop workflow, and I'm thinking of jettisoning Aperture altogether in favor of the "browser" method of managing files.
I appreciate all the suggestions and will get back to this problem soon. But for know I have to meet a deadline.

  • Adobe Bridge and Nikon D300 files

    Hi to everyone.
A simple question, for a simple answer (i hope..).
Will Adobe Bridge in the update 2.1.1.9 see my NEF files taken with a Nikon camera? Is that the latest update we have around?
Does any of you have experience with NEF files and Bridge?
Thank you so much in advance.
    Ciao,
    MB

It isn't the version on Bridge that has any impact on that. If you haven't already installed Camera Raw 4.5 then do that as soon as possible. I'm not sure which version added support for your camera, but it is supported in the latest version. Just make sure you install the plug-in in the proper folder. Full instructions are on the download page.

  • Adobe Bridge cs5 cannot obtain files from this device.

I download photos to my computer using a Kingston downloading device.
Since installing Mavericks the above message comes up and will not carry out the download.
Is this a known problem with Mavericks and is there a remedy?
I would say that using the same device my photos download perfectly on my MacBook Pro.

    1. Adobe Bridge CS5.1 cannot obtain files from this device.
Please ensure that the device is connected properly and that the battery is charged and try again.
2.I also get a message telling me that the "disk was not ejected propery" which is not the case.

    Thanks Eric
The MacBook Pro is not running Mavericks and sorry about the double post.
I have actually solved the problem and the answer might be of use to others with the same problem.
There is a firmware update that will correct the problem.
    It's at
    http://www.kingston.com/en/support/technical/products?model=fcr-hs3
There is a small catch in  that the firmware update can only be done on a Windows machine but I have been told that once this is done it can be used with OSX9 .I have just done the download but  I haven't checked this out yet.

  • Can an Adobe Bridge web gallery slideshow file be inserted in Dreamweaver as part of the homepage?

Hello.  I am designing the homepage of my first website in Adobe Dreamweaver CS6.  And I would like for the page to include a slideshow that automatically plays as soon as a visitor opens the webpage.  I am interested in using Adobe Bridge to create the slideshow using the feature "web gallery."  The tutorials that I've seen describe how to create the web gallery slideshow, then show how it appears when uploaded to the web as an html file through FTP to a server.  It appears as a separate page.  And I notice that the web gallery file is an index file.  I would appreciate knowing how to include the html file as part of the homepage.  Will simply renaming the file from being "index.html" to something like "my_first_slideshow.html" make possible including it in the site structure?  Or will doing so cause it and the files attached to it to be inaccessable when viewed in a browser?  If it can be included in the site, is an <iframe> needed to be in the code for the slideshow to fit into?  Thank you.

  • Adobe Bridge CC associates Ai files with Illustrator CS 5.5

Does anyone know how to get Bridge CC to open files in Illustrator CC and not trying to open them in Illustrator CS 5.5.
I haven't got CS 5.5 so i get an error every time i try to open Ai files from Bridge CC. have tried the "File Type Association",
but Ai files is not present in the list.

Can you provide more details about system and resources?
Did you ever use a trial version of CS5.5 (has to otherwise you should not have this option)
In CC as in all other versions of Bridge there should be a file type association for Illustrator (.ai, .ait) present in this list. If this is not the case and you have Illustrator CC installed and working on your system then something might be very wrong with your install of Bridge.

  • Bridge CS5 corrupts CR2 files when extracting thumbnails (Win8.1 64bit)

I'm using Design Premium CS5 on two computers -  Lenovo T510 with Windows 7 (64 bit) and a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 (64 bit).  Everything works fine on the Win 7 machine.  On the Yoga, if I download Raw files, they look fine until Bridge begins extracting thumbnails.  Once that process begins, most of the files are corrupted, becoming bands and boxes of color:
I tried updating the software, reinstalling, and opening the files in Camera Raw and Photoshop.  Nothing seems to change the outcome.  I continue to be able to use the Win 7 machine with no problems.  I intended the Yoga to be my travel computer for trips in which photography will be the main focus.  Given this problem, I only see two solutions unless I'm able to fix it.  One is to carry either only the Win 7 computer or both computers.  The other is to not open the files into Bridge and take it on faith that the photos were successfully downloaded before formatting my media.  Neither of those solutions is very satisfactory.  I hope someone out there can help me find a solution that will make the Yoga work as I had hoped.  FYI, JPEGs work fine.  I suppose that would be another solution: only shoot in JPEG.

    Smash87,
Thanks for your reply and suggestion.
I have already tried what you suggested but it didn't work at first. I will try it again just to see if it works this time but to be frank I don't expect it will.
Another problem is the fact that I didn't have this issue with CS4 which is the version you are using. The problem appeared once I switched to CS5. The fact that your issue was resolved in CS4 is no guarantee the same will happen to CS5. In fact, it is almost a given it will not considering Adobe's track record with Bridge. Every new version of Bridge brings along with it a new set of problems and challenges. I am really getting tired of it. Now please keep in mind that my collection of images includes a few thousands of folders each containing anywhere between 200 and 1000 images. Adobe shouldn't have to force a customer to have to purge the cache and rebuild all previews when this customer (as it is my case) has thousands of folders and/or images. This is just insane.
They really need to get this application working right. One would imagine that it would have happened by now since they have already had 5 versions of this application to do it plus the file browser application experience before Bridge was formally introduced. So, what is happening Adobe ???
Thanks again for your help and suggestion.

  • Bridge CC corrupting CR2 Files?

When i open a certain folder full of 1000 CR2 files, bridge correctly displays them with a preview file.  But after a few seconds the previews dissapear leaving a gray box, bridge then says that the file is unsuported or corrupt.
I try to open the files in Lightroom or Photoshop CC and it says the same thing.
As an experiement i tried opening the folder in Bridge CS6 instead... Again the files all opened successfully, i could see every image with a preview file, but then after a few moments the previews grayed out.
I took the drive over to another system and now the files do not show any preview at all when opened in Bridge.  Also do not open in PS or LR.
    Any advice?

I took the drive over to another system and now the files do not show any preview at all when opened in Bridge.  Also do not open in PS or LR.
    Can you provide more details?
What camera was used for the originals, what drive are you talking about. Can you check the file size on the files and is the extension still as original with only one dot followed by CR2?
What computer and System are you using?
Like Curt states the first thing Bridge does is read the embedded thumbnail (a jpeg included in the Raw file itself) and then it tries to read the data of the Raw file for a preview.
Bridge is in basic read only and only ACR is writing an XMP side car file with the settings you changed. If your files are corrupted then Bridge will not be able to read them at all.

  • Corrupted QT file - what went wrong?

I have a 10 bit Blackmagic MOV file, that all works on the Mac G-RAID array.
It wascopiedto a PC external drive, and for some bizarre reason, QT Pro tells me it is not a valid video file.
There were 5 copied at once (Not by me, so I have no idea what was done) and the other 4 files are all just fine & open in Premiere Pro & QT Pro.
    One will not though.
What is the problem, can it be fixed - or do I need to copy it across again?
    Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

What is the file format used on the external drive?
Older formats have a file size limit (2 or 4 GB's) that may corrupt a larger QuickTime file.
