Adobe creates Lightroom Plugin for Aperture

Glad to see Adobe has created a plugin to ease transition.  Guides have been helpful, but aren't as a complete solution as this may offer.  Unfortunately, it seems most users can't find a way to install it.
https://creative.adobe.com/addons/products/3213#.VDgVnynCMox
Although if you have hundreds of thousands of images, this may not be up to the task.  Lets hope.

There are a lot of complexities, to be sure.  I just ran a test conversion on the entire library.
First thoughts?  We've been blessed with Aperture these many years.  Lightroom certainly has some capabilities when it comes to photo editing, but I can see why so many professionals have held out so long with Aperture.  There just isn't a better personal-level DAM.  I've been reading a book on Lightroom, and there are several limitations as far as manipulating and cataloging.  Definitely some neat features as well, but for the most part, not as versatile as Aperture.  I'm going to miss that.
I don't like the folder/collections paradigm.  Feel like I'm in a straight jacket.  But at least it gives me some versatility.  Based on testing, I figure I'll reference my masters as year/project, to provide some organization.   More than that, it gets difficult to move around within the browser pane.
The plugin has it's problems, but it did perform better than expectations.  Out of 40,000 photos, it managed to import all but 200 or so.  Oddly, many groupings the same Aperture project.  It did a good job of stacking images, but you don't see stacks in collections!  It also did find and migrate a bunch of duplicate JPEG "masters" that were presumably created as I've exported to Facebook and other projects.
One gotcha, you should create full-sized previews if you want those migrated, too.
The faces tagging doesn't work yet.  And much of my keywords were scrambled.  Certainly can pick up the pieces, but that endeavor will take several hours as well.  Lightroom won't make this very easy.  It seems a bit more cumbersome to navigate, filter, and sort, but perhaps that's just due to my lack of experience.
I only have 1400 stacks, so I figure I'll create a metadata reference for the "pick", flag them in Lightroom, then go through stacks one by one and restack them.  Shouldn't take more than a half a day.
Adobe support and forums just aren't very good.  Few people participate, even though there is a larger Lightroom community??

i had tryed to make a plugin using Eclips with indesign plugin editor and Visual studio C++ but i can't as i can;t find where can i write my code and there is also an error while debuging is that :
<error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Performing Custom Build Step">

<Unknown compiler version - please run the configure tests and report the results> and the visual studio raise message box to me to specify the name of the executable file to be used for the debug session
i don;t know wat can i do know all i need to create a plugin for indesign program so could any one help me ??

Each version of the SDK has very specific demands for the compiler setup, and this in turn relies heavily on the operating system. The CS3 SDK probably was based on a much older version of Visual Studio.
Compare your toolchain against the requirements that should be stated somewhere in the CS3 documentation. It's a solid bet you are years ahead -- there simply is no reason for Adobe to keep on supporting all OSes and compilers that continue to appear, for a version of InDesign that's by now 2.5 versions old.

  • I would like to create a plugin for adobe acrobat pro 9.0...

I would like to create a plugin for adobe acrobat pro 9.0 in order to compare pages, delete the same pages and mark pages from first compared document with new and mark pages from second compared document with original. I downloaded the SDK for adobe 9.0 but now I am not sure how to continue? Do I need Visual Studio or can I use another program that is a freeware? What other program do you recommend?  How can I open an .api file in order to see the code? Do I need to place the SDK files in a specific place?

    1. You will need Visual Studio. Getting your first plug-in to compile can be an ordeal, be sure to use a sample project and work with it exactly.
    2. API files are the work of other programmers. You cannot look inside, and to try to do so is a breach of most software licenses.
    3. API files are installed to the Acrobat plug-ins folder.
    4. You will not find samples or code to copy/paste. You should be an experienced C/C++ programmer, you should be familiar with the basics of the PDF file format ISO 32000-1, and you should be prepared to read thousands of pages of documentation.

  • Help creating Proxy Plugin for an Ad SWC

I'm trying to create a plugin for an ad component, where ad video playback is all handled in a SWC.
I took the OSMSPlayer example, and modifed the constructor to load my plugin using the players factory object, and once loaded, I continue with the player setup and configuration.  There doesn't seem to be a problem here, everything loads fine.
I then proceeded to create a proxy plugin.
Within ProxyElement, when set proxyElement is called, I create a SerialElement, and add the passed mediaElement as the first child of the SerialElement.
I then add a loadTrait to the proxyElement, and listen for the LoadEvent.LOAD_STATE_CHANGE event.  When this is fired, I insert a MediaElement (preroll), which has a PlayTrait, DisplayTrait, TimeTrait and AudioTrait, as the first child of the proxied serialElement, and call play.  The preroll video plays fine, i hear audio and see the time updates in the player, but the video is not visible.  If I then pause the video, it suddenly appears, and is visible for the remainder of the clip.  Once the preroll is complete, the orginal mediaElement plays fine.
I followed the MASTPlugin example, as I am trying to do something similar, except my video playback is handled via a SWC (added to the DisplayTrait).  If I just insert a plain VideoElement as the preroll and load a flv it plays fine, so its something specific to my MediaElement impl, but I can't figure out why it doesn't display until I hit pause.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've already burned hours trying to figure this out.
Also, looking at the use case chart below, I probably actually need to create a reference plugin.  Does anyone have an example of a reference plugin?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/OSMF/1.0/Dev/WSc6f922f643dd2e6d-12f30d7b1262b59cb0d- 7ffe.html

The behavior you're describing sounds like a bug -- if you can post a small, self-contained example that reproduces the problem, that would be
    very helpful.
You might also want to look at DurationElement and SWFElement.  When you wrap the latter in the former, you can display a SWF but augment it with the ability to play, pause, have a duration, and seek.  The ExamplePlayer sample app has at least one example showing how to use this (I think it's called "Timed Image" and uses ImageElement rather than SWFElement, but the approach is the same).
As for reference plugins, the ControlBarPluginSample (+ ControlBarPlugin) is a good example of a reference plugin.  This sample shows how you can load and display the player chrome dynamically from a plugin.

  • I have Adobe Flash Player Plugin for Firefox, but I'm still missing Flash Player?

So I have installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player Plugin for Firefox, and I'm able to watch youtube videos on my browser and other things that require flash player, but I have a disc that i got along with my Samsung monitor, and when I put it in my computer, it says that I do not infact have flash player. Also, when I try playing a game, DawnGate, theres a black box where a video should be, and it says that i do not have flash player, and it is required to watch these videos. I tried uninstalling, and I was unable to watch youtube, and when i reinstalled, I was able to watch youtube again, but that did not fix my problem. Is there something I'm missing? I look forward to hearing from someone soon.

Odds are it's looking for the IE plugin: (A lot of software just assumes ALL Windows users are "slaves to Microsoft" and only have IE installed.)
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
    or the standalone Player:

  • Creating Eclipse Plugin for BerkleyDB

    Hi
I am trying to create a plugin for the BerkelyDB XML for the Eclipse RCP framework (www.eclipse.org). I've installed the window installer version for BerkleyDB XML.
I was wondering what .dll files are required for the jar files or if anyone have done something similar before.

    Hi,
You'll need all of the .dll files that are included with the Windows installer, probably including the msv* (C, C++ runtime) libraries.
You shouldn't need anything but the dlls and the jar files.

  • I have installed hydra express plugin for Aperture many time with no success

I have installed hydra express plugin for Aperture many time with no success. When I select edit with plugin hydra, the make an HDR image with hydra appears. When I hit the process button a message states that hydra is not found. I have checked in my application support folder. There is no plugin folder for aperture or a hydra plugin.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Plug-ins get installed in one of two locations.
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Edit
    or
    /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Edit
The second is for all users of the machine and is located in the root folder of your system drive (often "Macintosh HD").
The first is your private library (note the ~ symbol which a shortcut to your user folder) and means the plugin is just for you. ~/Library is hidden by default so finder wont see it. To see it in Finder, use the menu "Go->Go to folder" and type in ~/Library as the folder name. Then you can natigate to /Application Support/ etc....
That should help you determine if it's installed. Note, you may only find an alias in the plug-in folder and the programs may actually be stored elsewhere. Also, if the Plugin can be used for export as well as edit, it might be located in /Plug-Ins rather than /Plug-Ins/Edit
In terms of why it isn't working, I think I may have a clue to what's going on. Sometimes plugins use utilitly shell commands that get distributed with the plugin. These can get quarantined by Macs Gatekeep security because they are not signed by a 'valid' developer.
I've recently taken on the task of making the old Enfuse plugin compatible with the latest version of Aperture, and ran into this gatekeep quarantine issue. I got around it by de-quarantine the required commands and got the plugin working.
For distribution, I've put an AppleScript together which installs the plugin and takes care of the quarantine issue, but I am just (literally today) tesing that on a different machine to make sure it works the same as it does on mine.
If you can first confirm that hydra is installed in one of the above locations, I'll then talk you through how to check if there is a quarantine issue with it.

  • Pixelpost export plugin for Aperture

I found an export plugin for Aperture to send photos to Pixelpost blogs. I'm posting this here in case someone searches the discussion forums looking for one. The link is:
    http://www.pixelpost.org/extend/addons/aperture-pixelpost-plugin/
    or from the developer's site:
    http://www.macroni.be/index.php?x=plugin
    His comments:
"APP (Aperture Pixelpost Plugin) uploads the selected picture from your Aperture library to you pixelpost blog without having to export the picture first, and then uploading it manually."
I've tested it with APP v 1.3, Aperture v 2.1.4, OS X 10.6.1, Pixelpost v 1.7.3. The plugin does work, but when you export more than one photo, they all have identical metadata information. You'll have to rename and retag in the Pixelpost control panel. The plugin also does not remember your Pixelpost login information between sessions. In spite of these problems, it is a useful plugin for us Pixelpost users.

Hey - I downloaded it and sent $ the day he put up the note EXCELLENT implementation, flawless installation and FAST uploading. Do yourself a favor if you're a Smugger. As said above, a marriage of two great products!!

  • Adobe Camera Raw Plugin for Photoshop Elements 4

I have downloaded the latest Raw Plugin for Elements 4 successfully and have gone through all the steps except i havent installed Raw Plugin as yet, i would like to know if i have to unzip the files in the downloaded Plugin before i install into Elements 4 or install as is and unzip when it's installed into Elements 4 ? Many thanks Lloyd fro OZ

In order to use the new plugin in Photoshop Elements 4, you will need to run the 4.0.1 Updater. Support for this version of ACR is the ONLY feature of the 4.0.1 updater.
Unfortunately, the new ACR plugin came out before we could get the PSE 4.0.1 updater out, so we need to do a workaround for the time being.
Until the Updater gets posted (which we expect to be on or before May 20), you can use the converter to convert your Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 files to RAW, then use them in the program.
The Converter can be found at: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3604
Sorry for the delay between the ACR posting and the PSE Mac updater posting.

  • How to install Adobe Flash Player plugin for 64bit Arch

I was trying to install the new 64-bit flash plugin for my newly install 64-bit Arch.
I want to install the 64-bit plugin, and also found this Wiki page https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … ins#64-bit
I'm not used to AUR, and have no idea how to use it for now. I just want to get the 64-bit version plugin working asap without any complaexity.
So is there any fast way to get it to work? (i'm open to adding a repository to my /etc/pacman.conf)
    Something like
    pacman -S flashplugin-prerelease
would be good enough for me for now.
So, how do I get it work quickly? (I'm also open to suggestions like extracting the libflashplayer.so library from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs … 710.tar.gz to some system directory.)

    Hi,
I think I understand your concern at most. I also had the same problem. What you can (should !!!) do is:
    1. Download this "Square" Preview Release from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs … 710.tar.gz
    2. Unpack it
    3. Execute the command "mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins/"
    4. Copy the unpacked libflashplayer.so into the above folder you created by doing "mv libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/"
    5. Restart your firefox
    6. Optional (check whether it is installed by typing about:plugins in your browser URL field.) you should be able to see this under shockwave flash.
I have seen many people saying that this version does not work very well. For me it is working flawlessly and effortlessly. Once they publish the official version, I will switch to the newest. Otherwise, I really do not have any problem with it. Good for you! :-)
