Adobe designer calling a web service

Hi everyone,
I want to make a call to a web service created in SAP.
I have the URL of the wsdl file.
I created a new data connection in the Adbobe designer that points to that URL.
I drag and droped the connection into the editor.
Now, I have 2 input fields.
The first stands for the input.
The second stands for the response coming from the web service.
The button points to the URL of the backend where the web service is located.
When I press the button, nothing is happening...not even an error.
Can someone please help with that issue ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Hi Juergen,
I am trying to call a SAP web service.
I do not know which encoding it is.
Here is the beginning of the wsdl.
<b>
<definitions xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" xmlns:s0="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" targetNamespace="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">
</b>
In the wsdl, it is specified.
<b>
- <input>
  <soap:body use="literal" />
  </input>
- <output>
  <soap:body use="literal" />
  </output>
</b>
Yes, I am using authentication: sap-user and sap-password for meanwhile. We will want to use a certificat.
I am using Designer version 6 and 7.
I am not using Netwaever for this project but only using Adobe Designer.
I didn't try to re-merge data option.
I hope it clarifies the situation.
Thanks in advance.

  • How can I call a web service via Adobe Reader XI?

    Hi all,
    I have created a document using LiveCycle (Trial) to get something from my custom web service, using Adobe Pro to open the file and its success to call the web service when clicking the call button, however, when I try to do the same thing using Adobe Reader XI, seems not work. Please help!
    Best Regards,
    Black Leong

    The only way it can work with Reader is if the document is Reader-enabled with LiveCycle Reader Extensions or the similar product from Datalogics. Acrobat is not able to add the corresponding usage right.

  • How to call HTTP web services in an Interactive Form?

    Hi all,
    I am using Adobe Livecycle Designer currently in a trial 8.2 version.
    I need to invoke an HTTP Web Service (non-SOAP) in an Adobe Interactive Form. The Net.HTTP method does not work due to security reasons. The error message I get is:
    (german)
    " NotAllowedError: Sicherheitseinstellungen verhindern den Zugriff auf diese Eigenschaft oder Methode.
    Net.HTTP.request:28:XFA:form1[0]:mysubform[0]:Region[0]:change"
    In english this translates to: "Security settings prohibit the call of this property or method.
    And indeed the "Javascript for Acrobat API reference" includes the following note:
    "Note:This method can only be made outside the context of a document (for example, in a folder level JavaScript)."
    So this method seems to be excluded from use in an Adobe document, e. g. in an interactive form. But why is it then listed at all? Is there a way to call HTTP Web Services in an Adobe Interactive Form by somehow branching out the call outside the document itself? Of course I do not want to call a SOAP service which then calls the HTTP Web Service ;-)
    Is there any other way to invoke HTTP Web Services in an Adobe Interactive Form?
    Thanks a lot for your response!
    Regards
    Christoph

    Hello Kavita,
    patterns are not processed during editing. If you can't use the default behavior of the numeric field when a character is entered (handled when the user finished editing), you could use scripting to process input. Depending on what you want to do you could use the exit event or the change event.
    A change event has a property called "change" that caused the event. You could try "xfa.host.messageBox( upper(event.change) )" in FormCalc to show the characters in upper case.
    But, you should go this way only if the patterns for editing and for display and validation scripts can't be used in your case.

  • Call ABAP Web Service with Java code only

    Hi all,
    First of all, I am writing script in Adobe form but am not using the one in SAP.
    I am trying to call the web service and process the result with script open (i.e. no dataconnection created), because I am trying to do that in a dialog.
    I can call a non-SAP web service without problem, but I am not able to call a simple web service with only a single string input, anyone have any example?
    Here is the SOAP for input:
    <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:urn="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">
       <soapenv:Header/>
       <soapenv:Body>
          <urn:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO>
             <A_STAFF_ID>0123456</A_STAFF_ID>
          </urn:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO>
       </soapenv:Body>
    </soapenv:Envelope>
    Here is my code to call:
         var cURL = "http://some-host-name:port/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DEDB492BB032E7F1B09F001CC4FBCEC9/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=300";
         var response = SOAP.request(
              cURL: cURL,
              oRequest: {
                   "urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO": {
                        A_STAFF_ID: "0123456"

    Hello I have the same problem, were you able to execute the WS through the JS code now?
    I would like to call an ABAP WS using JavaScript to return complex structures that I would like to manage directly with JS.
    I tried with this code and I get the error "RaiseError: Acrobat Raise." when the request is executed:
    var WSUrl = "http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_4D15C75529330AF1E10000000A150429/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=500";
    var VendorNumber = xfa.form.DATA.DATAFLOW.SF_HEADER.VENDOR_NUMBER.rawValue;
    try {
    // Create request structure, read Input out of text field
    var request = {
              "urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style:ZWsTest" : {ILifnr: VendorNumber}
    SOAP.wireDump = true;
    // Call web service using SOAP object
    var response = SOAP.request ({
            cURL: WSUrl,
            oRequest: request
    //        cAction: "urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style"
    } catch (e) {
        xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString()); //pop-up "TypeError:service.CelsiusToFahrenheit is not a funciton"
    with this other code I get the error "SOAPError: CX_ST_MATCH_ELEMENT:XSLT exception.System expected element 'ILifnr'":
    try {
        var myProxy = SOAP.connect(WSUrl);
        var result = myProxy.ZWsTest( { ILifnr: VendorNumber } );
        xfa.form.DATA.DATAFLOW.SF_HEADER.E_DESCRIPTION.rawValue = result;
    // Display the response in the console:
       console.println("Result is " + result);
    } catch (e) {
        xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString()); //pop-up "TypeError:service.CelsiusToFahrenheit is not a funciton"
    in the second option, if I make the field ILifnr optional the call is succesfully performed but the parameter is not passed to the WS. So the call is working.
    Using stand-alone LiveCycle designer 8.1 and Adobe Reader 8
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    G.

  • Is it possible to call a web service within acrobat reader.

    Hi,
    I designed a form template which makes a web service call.
    Then tested the form using acrobat professional 8.0.
    Everything was fine.
    But, when I open the same form with acrobat reader, the web service call didn't work.
    I want to know is this a known issue that It is not allowed to call a web service in acrobat reader?

    Hi
    Reader does not have the capability to call Web Services.
    You have two options:
    1. Get your clients to buy a copy of Acrobat.
    2. Purchase a product from Adobe called "Reader Extensions". This allows you to "extend" your form in such a way that it will be able to call web services. (You can also save it locally, and do a bunch of other things that normally you can't do in Reader.) Your clients will then be able to call web services (for this form only) using Reader.
    If you'd like more information on Reader Extensions, email info-at- avoka.com.

  • How can I call a web service using JAVAscript in LCD

    hi guys,
         I know it can call a WSDL in LCD, but I have not any WSDL web service , and I have a REST web service ,how can I call this REST web service in LCD? I checked some documents and found nothing...if it's possible that it can call a REST web service using JAVAScript code, I mean I can program some code to call this web service ?
    thanks,
    Jesse

    Hi Jesse,
    You can do GET, PUT and POST using FormCalc, so you should be able to access a REST web service.
    There is a example of accessing a RSS feed in this thread, http://forums.adobe.com/message/5695433#5695433

  • DCA-40000: internal error when calling a web service

    Hello,
    I would like to call a web service in Oracle UCM with basic authentication (CheckInUniversal). In JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 I can specify username and password for the WS at design time and the JSPX runs fine.
    Now I have added some piece of code into a managed bean (CheckInBean) to use a specific username and password at runtime. When I run the page I get a DCA-40000 with the following error stack:

    this.saveCallProperties(thisPort, callP);
    }

    If you could enclose your code inside tag it will improve readability for us.
    Anyways, first thing that I could think of is - what is the scope of your managed bean..? If its in request scope can you try changing it to higher scope level (session scope or page view scope).

  • Getting Timed out exception while calling a web service

    Hi,
    when i am invoking a web service(using routing), the osb proxy is getting timed out before receiving the response from routed service.
    Also we are not aware of how much response time the routed service will take. so apart from increasing the connection time is there any alternate solution?
    can any one suggest.

    I do not think there is any other way apart from increasing timeouts to call a web service from OSB synchronously which is taking a long time.
    Other alternatives are either to make the service asynchronous delyed request response type, which will mean a change at the backend webservice.
    Ideally synchronous web services are designed to respond within a few seconds and not take minutes for processing. I would say that if the backend web service is taking more than a minute then they need to either tune their service performance better so it responds faster OR change it to an asynchronous service.

    The program which is failing is the client not the service. Can someone please provide me with some direction as to why this always fails on the third call.

    Hi Steven,
    According to the second exception, the problem may be that the requestStream of the webservice call is null when the 3rd time the WebRequest send request to the webservice. Please debug the code and verify if it's this case. And it's better to tell us more
    about the content of the text file and what the webservice does when you send request to it.

  • Calling a web service using a wsdl

    I am trying to access a web service from a button in Lifecycle Designer.  I have successfully done the following:
    1.  added a Data Connection that connects to the web service via a wsdl file
    2. dragged the request, response, and button items onto the form.  The button correctly reflects the web service location.
    When I enter data into the request boxes (which works from another place calling the web service) and click the button, I expect the call to the web service to return the response into the response text box, but nothing happens.  No error is reported.
    I have confirmed that the web service is “Document/Literal”.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Yip - Acrobat or Reader Extensions are needed.
    Try right click on the PDF and open in Internet Explorer and try your submit (hopefully the domain is trusted)

  • Calling (HTTPS web service) in sharepoint 2013 workflow (SPD)

    I am using SharePoint 2013. I have created a list workflow in SharePoint Designer. I know there is an action "Call HTTP Web Service". Is it possible to access some webservice with authentication (username and password)?

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn567558%28v=office.15%29.aspx
    the OData formats support communication with anonymous web services as well as with those protected by various types of authentication. In short, you have full control over the request and response for each service call. This allows you to use a series of
    activities within a workflow to first authenticate using one service and obtain an OAuth token, and then include that token in future requests to services secured using the
    OAuth 2.0 protocol.

  • Call a web service in an interactive form within SAP

    hi experts
    I need to call a Web service into an interactive form within SAP, but to do so fails to press on the button that calls the Web service, the strange thing is that if I keep the PDF in my PC, then open that PDF download button works correctly if I am doing something wrong?, you can do what I need?.
    Greetings.

    Hi asdasdasdasd1,
    not sure if I fully understand your problem but it sounds like you are trying to execute your Web Service in the preview tab of LiveCycle Designer. When you do this, features of the Reader Extension Rights are not available so you will have to generate the form via the ADS and test the WS on the generated rendition as you have done.
    Let me now if this helps.
    Regards,
    Ben.

    When I try to compile the code, there is error called "wsdl"  must end with the ';' delimiter. Does anybody know how to call sap web service in Flex?

  • Call Exchange Web Services from SP2013 Workflow

    Okay... so I would love to be able to call exchange.asmx to issue an "ExpandDL" request to get the members of a particular distribution list, but I can't seem to find any documentation on how to actually make that happen or how to make any code
    examples I find fit into the "Call HTTP Web Service" action format inside SPD. Ideas?

    Hi ramz,
    Based on the following similar post and article, SharePoint Designer 2013 platform workflow activity "Call HTTP Web Service" can't use the SOAP web service provided by Exchange(e.g. exchnage.asmx), we could only use the RESTful web service.
