Adobe Digital Edition Ver 2.0

Downloadi/install successful/complete. Launching program results in Error Msg: "Adobe Digital Edition Ver 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." This repeats with every attempt to launch the program. How do we proceed from here? Please advise.

Version 1.7.2 is the answer to many problems with ADE 2.0.
ADE2.0 regularly seems to have problems with Sony and Nook devices (and some others too?); and with XP.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

How do I detect if adobe digital edition is present on client machine or not ?

I am working on a project, whihc involves finding out if the client machine has adobe digital edition Ver. 1.5 installed.
I went through the Installer SDK, and the examples that come with it, especially ade_detect_layers.htm, however, I cant figure out the variable which will signify the presence of ADE.
By the looks of it, G_nADEInstalled variable should have it, but it always 0, no matter if the ADE is installed or not.
The ade_web_library.swf does reflect the state of ADE, i.e. if ADE is present, it displays - Launch, and if ADE is not present, is displays - INSTALL. However, I want the state information in a javascript variable.
Anybody got any ideas ?

You should be able to detect ADE using the following mechanism.
Resources required:
swfobject.js
ADEBadgeLauncher.js
DigitalEditionsDetection.js
ade_web_library.swf
The 4 files above are provided by Adobe. It might be worth copying the
swf file in your web app, as I had some issues initially with using
adobe-hosted swf.
Apart from that, you need some new javascript functions:
Call the below function inline from the page, where you want to detect the ADE.
The second function below is the callback which is used by Adobe SWF.
I hope this makes things clear. It might be worth getting this working
on a local apache server before integrating with a web application.
And, check on both IE and firefox.

Adobe Digital Editions - Bibliothek wird nicht angezeigt

Hallo. Ich habe ein Problem mit Adobe Digital Editions. Seit einem Absturz beim download eines Buches zeigt mir ADE die Bibliothek mit meinen Büchern nicht mehr an. Gezeigt wird nur noch ein weißes Fenster (siehe screenshot). Auf die Bibliothek selber mit meinen Büchern habe ich keinen Zugriff mehr. Will ich eines meiner Bücher erneut der Bibliothek hinzufügen, kommt die Warnung: "Das Dokument, dass sie hinzufügen möchten, ist bereits in der Bibliothek vorhanden.". Eine Neuinstallation von ADE hat keine Veränderung gebracht. Für Tipps zur Fehlerbehebung wäre ich sehr dankbar.

Wenn nicht, wird er auch nicht unter Adobe Digital Edition mit angeziegt werden. In dem Fall einfach die Bücher über den Explorer direkt auf den Reader ziehen.

Problems I'm having with Adobe digital editions

I hope that you can help me sort out the problems I’m having with Adobe digital editions. I installed it when I bought an e-book reader, and it worked just fine.
I think the problems started after I downloaded some updates, and I can still download books from my public library onto my laptop, but can’t transfer them to my e-book reader.
It says that my laptop is not authorised, and when I try to authorise it I get the following statement which is printed in red on my screen.
Activation server error.
Code: e_auth_not_ready
Digital edidtions encountered an error on the activation server
I hope that the above will give you some insight into what my problem might be, and that you can suggest a fix for it.

Request Expired can come because your system is set to the wrong time or timezone.
Also, sometimes ADE gets confused registration ... see below

Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling

I don't know why it has stopped ~ maybe an incompatible Windows update.
Unless you really need the (few) extra features of 2.0, you'll be much better off on 1.7.2.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)

Installing Adobe Digital Editions

Hi, I want to be able to download e-books through e-pub from the library and Adobe Digital Editions is needed to do this. I've downloaded what I thought was ADE but what I get is what appears to be the book, "Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions." I want the software. How do I get it? Am I mission something? I've checked the Adobe website and library's too but there aren't any other choices for ADE software. I have Windows Vista by the way. Help!
