Adobe Flash, latest version, is hitting the disk hundreds of times per second with disk reads and writes for no obvious reason. Is this normal? If not, ...

I am running Firefox 18 on Windows 7, all with latest updates. The Adobe Flash plugin (latest version) hits the disk with hundreds of reads and hundreds of writes each second. This seems to start as soon as cnn.com is loaded then as other sites are loaded it just gets worse. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Is it normal? If not normal, how can I can stop it?

I do not really have any solid suggestions for this but

Flash often causes issues with Firefox. From Flash 11.3 some Windows users were needing to disable Flash's ''protected mode''. Rather a longshot but it may be worth experimenting with the protected mode and trying turning it off.

aiex4.cpp doesn't exist, as far as I can tell. I believe that while the examples were being named, the developer mis-numbered them and just skipped 4 :-S
At any rate, if you already have AI and AO working separately, and you have the I/O performance you application requires, then you may not need to add DMA to your driver. However, if you want to add DMA, it won't be very difficult. In essence, you would need mix code from the S and M Series examples. The S Series example aiex2.cpp shows two things: the few lines of code you need to add DMA objects (lines 70-78), and how to program the STC to use DMA (line 114). And aiex3.cpp from the M Series examples gives a clearer picture of how to control and read the DMA channel.

Issue Installing Adobe Flash Latest Version 13.0.0.201 On iMac 2.7 GHz i5 core 8 GB OS X 10.9.2?

I am trying to install the latest version of flash 13.0.0.201. I am getting errors. I followed all instructions and increased offline hd space. I removed previous version of flash. I have 999.35 GB Hard drive with 953.55 GB available.
Any other ideas?

Probably the same problem here. Attempt to install using 13.0.0.201 obtained today at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ fails as previous Flash Player 13 Installers have failed ("Error: Unable to proceed with installation" message during the installation attempt). I also removed previous Flash Player versions FWIW using the official uninstaller. Mac OS X 10.9.2 here. I was hopeful that today's release would fix this problem for me. This is rather annoying.

How to increase disk read and write speed after installing new SSD (2009 Macbook Pro)? Why not as fast as advertised?

I just installed a Crucial MX10512 GB SSD into my 2009 Macbook Pro. It's definitely much faster, but the read and write disk speed is around 200 Mb/s for both versus the 300-500 Mb/s that the SSD advertised. Any ideas as to why? And is there anything I can do to make it faster? Before I installed it, it was between 80-90 Mb/s.
Specs:
- currently have about 460 of 511 GB of storage available
- am using 2GB of memory
- running on 10.10.2 Yosemite

You could make a clone of your internal OS onto an external disk. Hopefully you already have a backup of some form
A clone is a full copy, so you can boot from it. It makes a good backup as well as being useful to test things like this.
Carbon Copy Cloner will make one or you can use Disk Utility to 'restore' your OS from the internal disk to an external one.
Ideally the external disk is a fast disk with a fast 'interface' like Thunderbolt, Firewire 800 or USB3. USB2 can work, but it is slow & may effect the test.
You connect the clone, hold alt at startup & select the external disk in the 'boot manager'. When the Mac is finished booting run the speed tester.

Test the internal & compare to the previous tests
A running OS will do the following on it's boot disk…
Write/ read cache files from running apps
Write/ read memory to disk if memory is running low
Index new files if content is changing or being updated
Copy files for backing up (Time Machine or any other scheduled tasks)
Networking can also trigger read/ write on the disk too.
You may not have much activity that effects a disk speed test, but you can't really be sure unless that disk is not being used for other tasks.
Disk testing is an art & science in itself, see this if you want to get an idea …

Flash not working, have reinstalled adobe flash latest version but still just get a blank white space where vid should be, what do I do

This has just suddenly happened, I don't know what to do to get it back working again.

I also have this issue, I have tried disabling the new protection feature and it has had no effect, flash video's and applications are not working.

Problem with serial read and write-unable to refresh the port number

I use the advanced serail write and read example. Build the application, copy the application to another laptop with labview run time engine 2009 installed. And I connect my serial device via a serial to usb adaptor. The problem is that VISA source number is always com1, even I refresh it. But in my case the device via adpator should be com5. I can get the hyperterminal working using com5. Something must be wrong. The strange thing is that there are three laptops, I did the same processdure with each one, one of them are working, the other two won't. Anybody came cross same problems before? Many thanks.

The other day my system automatically updated to the latest Adobe Flash PLayer version 11.8
