Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 as default program

I have just installed elements 9. When I upload photos they end up in photoshop and also in my pictures on my computer. I would like to have them just go into my pictures so I can delete the bad ones and then just transfer the one I want to keep and work on. This is my first attempt at using a photoshop program and I already feel very overwhelmed. My son suggested backing up my Adobo photos to the external hard drive, deleting everything in Adobe, Uninstalling Adobe and starting all over. Does this sound reasonable? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No need to delete anything. Simply start a new catalog from Organizer by clicking:
File à Catalog à New
Give it a new name e.g. MyCatalog2, select free music (the mp3’s that come with PSE) and click OK
Then click File à Get Photos & Videos à From Files & Folders
Navigate to My Pictures and press Ctrl+A to select all sub folders, then click Open or Get Media.
Wait for thumbnails to be generated and you have a brand new catalog for everything in My Pictures

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 organizer program/folder missing from installation

I downloaded the upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 from the internet in November 2013 and the organizer part of the program is totally missing as well as the Photoshop Elements Organizer.exe file.. With previous versions (9 &10) Elements Organizer has its own folder containing files containing the Photoshop Elements Organizer.exe file. but this whole folder is not present with this version 12 upgrade. I have downloaded the file and uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. Can you advise how I obtain this part of the program.

I have downloaded the Adobe Support Advisor ( apparently been withdrawn according to the Adobe website) and it located no errors.
Again I say that the Elements Organizer program is missing as there is no Elements Organizer 12 sub-folder within the Adobe folder located in C drive where the program is installed (Photoshop
Elements 10 has an Elements Organizer 10 sub-folder and the organizer works fine).
Also on clicking the Photoshop desktop icon (loaded by the program installation) message says "cannot find Photoshop Elements 12.exe. However the program can be loaded from the PhotoshopElementsEditor 12.exe file, but the organizer button at the bottom right of the editor screen when clicked gives message " loading elements organizer workspace" and after a minute or so this message disappears and nothing happens.
The download is an upgrade version so I don't whether this makes any difference.

Why don't photos open in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 (default application)?

When I try to open any photo using PE 11 as the default application, the photo doesn't open. I have to open the application first and then search for and import the photo into the application. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

When you choose PSE as the default program, are you sure you're choosing the actual editor .exe/application, and not the shortcut to the welcome screen?

Repairing Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 using program disk

My computer (Windows XP) can no longer use the scanner (Cannon PIXMA MP780) to import photos to Element 6 because it can't find the CNCSCM60.DLL file in D:\Windows\system.
When I use my program disk to reinstall or repair Elements, the screen display shows this progression: the disk is initializing, validating the initialization, then seems to stall and displays a message to Insert Disk: 1. There is no disk 1 and the program disk is already in the drive. What do I do to repair CNCSCm60.DLL?

You can't do a repair install on any version of PSE except PSE 6 for mac. You will need to uninstall and reinstall. But I'd try reinstalling your scanner software first.

Thank you for responding. Nothing actually worked! After reading the posts online, I called Apple. They indicated they have seen problems with some software after their upgrades. The technician was able to fix the problem on my computer remotely, but I have no clue what he did! But, it was definitely related to their recent upgrade to my computer.

Where can I find the serial number for my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 program?

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 a couple of years ago and had it installed on my old laptop, and now I am trying to install it on my desktop computer. I cannot find the serial code anywhere on the box or DVD envelope, and I have tried entering every code on the box I could find (all invalid). It's supposed to be a 24 digit code with letters and numbers, right? I looked at my account to see if I had any products previously installed, but it says I don't for some reason. I also tried checking my email to see if I had been sent the code, but I wasn't able to find anything. I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions. When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open. Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open. Any advice?

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

Is only disc 1 required to install the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 program? Because when promted to put the 2nd disc in & clicked continue it pops back that the program has successfully installed.
