Adobe Reader X: TrustedFunction SaveAs

Hello
I installed the new Adobe Reader X, and placed my TrustedFunction in the folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Javascripts
When i test it, i always get the following error:
Error in savePdfFile(); NotAllowedError: Secutiry settings prevent access to this property or method.
i tried some settings in Adobe Reader X (like privileged locations) but nothing worked.
TrustedSaveAsPdf.js
trustedSaveAsPDF = app.trustedFunction(
  function (path){
        var retVal = "";
        app.beginPriv();
        retVal = event.target.saveAs(path);
        app.endPriv();
        return retVal;
My Call:
try {
   var retVal1 = trustedSaveAsPDF(<FILEPATH>);
} catch (e) {
   app.alert("Error in savePdfFile(); " + e);

Adobe Reader X runs in protected mode.

"Do plug-ins have read and write permissions to things like config files that maybe stored on the user's system?
Plug-ins will not be able to write log files to non-whitelisted locations. They can continue to write logs to the Temp directory (as returned by GetTempPath() Windows API or equivalent Acrobat API). Another white-listed location is Adobe Reader's own appdata area."
You can write out silently only to the whitelisted locations. The other alternative is to throw a save as dialog for user to select the location and save.

  • Adobe Reader won't save forms under Mavericks.

    After installing Mavericks on a Mac, discovered that Adobe Reader won't save forms or e-mail them with the filled-in information. DOes anyone know a fix? Does anyone know if this is also true for Acrobat?

    The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

  • Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from e.g. dropbox)

    Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from dropbox I can still see them after closing the app or switching documents)? I lost some valuable annotations while switching documents and apps over time. How do I save them? Only by sending it to dropbox for instance?

    It saves the file when:
    1) The app goes to background
    2) A share action (open in, email, print) occurs
    3) A form submit occurs
    4) You close the document by going to "Home" or "Documents", or open another document
    One issue that people encounter is that they open the file in a reader that does not support annotations (like the dropbox PDF view or the iOS Mail app). It doesn't sound like this is the case for you though, since you do see the annotations.
    There is a known issue, where on a small number of documents with specific properties, we fail to save changes. This is an issue that we have fixed and will be in our next release. The release is currently pending approval by Apple. It's possible that you encountered this issue, and if so, I apologize.

  • Why doesn't Adobe Reader let me save the editable form on my computer?

    Hello,
    I am using Adobe reader 10.1.2 I downloaded it free from the internet.
    When I download an editable PDF real estate contract from the internet and try to fill it out and save it on my desktop it doesn't let me save it. It says I can only fill it out and print it for my records.. I think it's some kind of security issue maybe?
    Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Thank you!

    The PDF form that you are trying to fill in, does not have Reader Extended rights enabled, and hence, can't be saved onto your disk with all the data. This can be done via Adobe Acrobat but not Reader.
    You can refer to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/3D/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e0d.w.html for more information.

  • Adobe Reader Asks for "Save as" Rather than saving changes in the file

    Hi everybidy,
    I have a fillable PDF form designed in Livecycle designer and it is reader extended. When I fill that form on MAC it let me fill and save the form as amny times as I like. Everytime I make any change I just click the save button it saves changes in the same form. BUT is is behaving differently on Windows. After filling the form out when I click on save button it opens up "Save as " dialogue box to save a new copy with those changes. I have Adobe reader XI and Adobe Acrobat XI installed on windows. I know I can do that with Acrobat but I want that in reader for users who dont have acrobat.
    Please help me.....
    Thanks

    Hi Gilad,
    Can you please explain what do you mean by preview?
    If you mean preview pan, that's already off.

  • Adobe Reader will not save or show the Save dialog

    Hello, we use adobe reader a lot where I work, mostly with filling out pre-made "Form" type PDF's and saving them in customer folders on the server, as of last friday my adobe reader will not allow me to save pdf's, I have attempted to edit and save, edit and save-as, I tried simply saving as without making any edits. I also tried to open a PDF online (specifically http://www.ncu.edu.tw/~ncu25352/Uploads/201312311030531151830864.pdf ), tested that PDF on another PC and it would allow me to save it.
    I uninstalled Adobe reader 11 and reinstalled from the website ( get.adobe.com/reader ), I then uninstalled anything on the pc that relates to PDF's that I could find (which was just reader and a dictionary add-in for reader 9) and attempted to reinstall without any change in the problem.
    To recap, PDF's will not save, and when I click save-as no save dialog pops up, I cannot save via the IE add-in either.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated by both my boss and myself!

    You mention IE, so I assume that you are on Windows.
    How are you trying to save that PDF, using the IE menu bar File Save as, or the floating toolbar in the Adobe Reader plugin?

  • Adobe reader will not save notes

    Hi.  I have an Acer A500 Icona Tab and am up-to-date with the latest o/s (4.0.3).  I have a need to view and edit .pdf documents (i.e. highlight and make notes) on my tablet.  I have downloaded the docs using Google Drive and am reading them with Adobe Reader (vers 10.2.1)  which works great and has a lot of nice features like highlighting and notes.  The only problem is that I can't figure out how to save those edits so that they are there next time I go in, as there does not appear to be a "save" button in the ap.  Also if I try to email the edited file I get a system error and the file does not attach to the email.  What I really want to be able to do is share these edited files between my tablet and my desktop.
    I have also posted this question to the Acer forums.
    Gracias

    Save happens automatically whenever you leave or try to email the document.  You may try “Share” option just besides “notes” icon from within Reader , which would have other options to share the pdf .  The reason for system error while emailing is something that Acer forums might help you with.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Reader unable so save fillable form

    I am trying to fill out a PDF Form, but if does not allow me to save changes unless I save a copy. The PDF is already saved as reader extended, I have Adobe XI Pro but several others users only have Adobe Reader. This form was working just fine last week. I tried opening with Reader X and XI and neither will allow me to save the changes.

    Thank you I will have them try this.
    On a separate note- I am sending these forms on a private social networking site and when they click them it opens in a new browser tab. If they fill it out from the tab and then save it to their computer it does not save what they wrote; its just blank. I have had to have my students save to a computer file first then fill out from there and save it and then upload it again to the site. Is there a way to make it save right from the browser?

  • Allow Mac Adobe Reader user to save filled-out form

    I have created an interactive PDF form for a client's website. Her patients are able to fill out the form and submit it to her. She is able to receive the form, but cannot save it to her Mac using Adobe Reader for the Mac. She says it goes blank when she tries to save it.
    I created the form in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. I double-checked in Acrobat 9 Pro, Extend Features in Adobe Reader, and it says "This document already has enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader".
    Does my client need to have Acrobat in order to save the filled-out forms?
    I will attach a test copy of the form.
    Thank you very much,
    Heather

  • Adobe reader does not save print code

    Hello,
    one of my customers uses print codes to print to the copier. His print code has been entered into his print settings but in order for the printer to accept his code he must open his print options and then close the print options (no changes need to be made). Can anyone shed some light on why this is the case?

    Hi paulf96758836,
    Please let me know what version of Adobe Reader are you using.
    Does it prints your pages fine apart from print code problem?
    Try removing the code, close Reader and then again set the code after launching Reader.
    Now check and let me know.

  • Adobe Reader makes me save before viewing

    I cannot just read a file. Adobe makes me save the file first, this started a couple of months ago. I want to be able to open a file through Adobe and view/print it with out saving it first

    Technically speaking, you can't view any file unless it's saved first on your computer. Sometimes that's done without your knowledge or consent (as a temporary file somewhere), but it has to happen.
    But it sounds like you're talking about a PDF file within a browser. Is that the case? If so, which browser?

  • Data typed into this form will not be saved.  Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form.

    This message is new.  I have never had this issue before on my system.  3 days ago I created a PDF using LiveCycle Designer ES2 at my office - exactly like I have done for the past 2 years - and now I get this message when I try to open the PDF on my home system.  I have always been able to work with these files until today.  Yesterday I installed Office 365 and now I apparently have Reader XI on my system.  Now every form I was able to open in the past will not allow data to save.  What's the deal?

    This is all odd as this form is designed explicity with digital signatures, and has always worked; hundreds of people have used this form extensively since late 2012, and I have tested it hundreds of times - it has always worked, never had this issue.  Unfortunately every PC in my home has Reader XI installed as of today (no Standard or Pro versions) and I will have to hunt for PCs that have only Reader (no Pro or Standard) at work.

  • Adobe Reader X save location issue

    Hi All, i would like to seek expert helps on Adobe Reader save location issues. After we upgrade from Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X.
    There are changes on how save location works in Adobe Reader X
    If save PDF via Internet Explorer – the save location will according to last save location, HOWEVER
    If save PDF via Adobe Reader X – the save location will set according to location the file is being open
    Let me show you what i mean over the pictures
    I open a reader_X_help.pdf using Adobe Reader X and then save the file using Ctrl+Shift+S at: C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
    refer my last save location.jpg
    Now i want to save another new file back to C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save, I open the file Adobe file2.pdf located at desktop and when i do Ctrl+Shift+S, the location point to my desktop and not C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
    refer my last save location change to desktop.jpg
    I have tested this features in Adobe Reader 9 and it's different whereby it's will point according to my last location save.
    There is no issue with computer as i have 3 machine running different enviroment, Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise, and all using same version of Adobe Reader X version 10.0.1.
    So my questions & concern:
    Is there any way to change the save location features same as Adobe Reader 9?
    If YES, how to do it? By Computer Changes or Adobe Reader X packages modification using Adobe Customization tools?
    If NO, Where can i find this source of documentation stated about this new changes so i can publish this information in HP website as new design changes to avoid complaint or negative feedback.
    Looking forward for expert reply as soon.
    Thank you very much and Have a great day.
    Best Regards

    Solved it!
    1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
    2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
    3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
    4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
    5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
    6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
    Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
    I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold,  it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.
    Hope this helps.

    Adobe Reader X can only save reader-enabled forms. Adobe Reader XI can save all forms.
