Adobe survey lists CS5.5 upgrade fee and subscription model

Did anyone else get and take the Adobe survey that came out recently? It asked a ton of questions about what I'd be willing to pay for Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 (unreleased) and if I'd rather pay a one-time fee or a ridiculously overpriced option for 'yearly subscription" where all future 'updates' are 'free'.
This is disturbing due to the Adobe's track record as of late with releasing a X.0 and then having no updates until CSX comes out. Plus if you only buy the upgrade pricing of $599 every 18mo the proposed subscription model would be more than double that amount at the proposed $70-$100/mo ($1,680-$2,400 for 24 months!) listed in the survey. And the 'includes free updates' to me means "we won't issue any bug fixes or updates for your standard license but will be happy to make you pay twice for our .5 updates mid-cycle."
I hope and pray this isn't what the future of Adobe has in store for those of us that live off these programs.

Never mind, I was searching my email and I had an email from Adobe dated April 23.  It was in my spam folder though - which is why I never read it.  It states:

So it appears my subscription will be going down in price and I will be able to upgrade at no additional charge.  That's sweet.  That beats spending $500 bucks.

    They are the same product.
    The "full" is a traditional perpetual license. Install - register - activate - use.
    Does not "call home" to validated that is a paid for install (the one time activation takes care of that).
    Internet? Connectivity is needed in order to download and install updates.
    (& Yes, you do want those)
    The "subscription" license will require periodic internet connectivity. If I recall correctly all "subscription" applications must call home once a month.
    That is how the application "knows" it is being paid for and is legit.
    While within the call home periodicity connectivity is not required for usage of the application.
    As with a "full" license you'll need connectivity to download/install application updates

    SAP came up with this New ADOBE spool technology .
    I have used and generated this PDF spool using FP_JOB_OPEN  but PDF is shown as PART LIST by default.
    Is there any way we can disable this?
    Because my user wants to see all parts in a single PDF (Single Part)
    I have looked in sfpoutputparams but did'nt find anyhting whihc

    1) You cannot get rid of the Incoterm on the Auctions object without writing custom query
    2) If you want to default some inco-term as none, create that, remove the rest and have that defaulted using Auction Templates

  • AND BOOM, slapped with a upgrade fee and activation fee!

    So, got two new iPhone 6's coming.  Walked in the store, and in 10 minutes we were out.  I was totally impressed with how fast it was.  I asked the sales guy to break down the cost, I got the 64gig phone, so he said "you will pay the full retail tax on the phone and the upgrade to the 64 gig, you will be trading your old phones so its a wash minus the tax and upgrade".  So in the parking lot I look over the banner length receipt. 
    $35 for upgrade fee?
    $30 for an activation fee?
    Times two phones?
    WHAT?  HUH?  Im upgrading to a new phone and committing to a new contract AND getting charged for it?  Im activating a new phone, but de-activating one and getting charged for it.  Maybe you should charge me a deactivation fee too. 
    Why didn't this guy disclose this extra $130 to me?
    So for shiz and giggles, heres what I do.  I visit not one, but two verizon stores.  Im just browsing, looking at the pretty iPhones, I asks about upgrading, They both tell me Im just responsible for the taxes and and additional upgrades offered beyond a free phone.  I asked about an upgrade fee, both looked at me weird, we don't charge you to upgrade.  Receipt in hand, I say yes you do.  Small scene. 
    Enter manager 1.  Manger tells me they are trained to streamline the process and not confuse the customer with the additional fees and that like ATT and Tmobile they are following suit. He went on to tell me that most customers know about both these fees and I should have checked the final statement. 
    Enter Manager 2. Those fees can be waived based on status and promotions, can we check your account?  No, I'm done here.
    WELL GUESS WHAT VERIZON.  When you are doing business on a tablet, and I POINT BLANK ask the sales guy to break it down, then he LIES about it to "not confuse me" , I don't get a choice do I?  Do I VERIZON?  DO I?  How do I?  this guy is holding a tablet, says sign here, I do, and he comes back with a receipt longer than well, its long.  I put my TRUST in you as my wireless carrier.  TRUST.

    You're burger analogy is wrong. You did get cheese. You're just annoyed you were charged extra for it a not knowing it would be extra.
    Not sure where you're getting $130 from. if you had 2 lines  1 new and 1 upgrade that's $65 $35 for the activation fee on the new line and $30 for the upgrade fee on the other line. Also as I said you can avoid upgrade fees by paying full price. Verizon doesn't even have to offer discounted phones. Ina few years when all carriers go to the full price model and dump subsidies you'll be wishing for an upgrade fee.
    I've been with Verizon since 2006 and they had activation fees back then.
    It IS transparent. First it's on your receipt. Also our store has a sign right at the counter that CLEARLY states that upgrades are charged a $30 upgrade fee. And the phone price tags should have them too.

  • Adobe Master Collection CS5.5 upgrade...if already upgraded one element

    I have Adobe Master Collection CS4 but could only affort to upgrade Premiere Pro to CS5.5 since the CS4 version was so buggie it was useless and I needed it for a job that came in.  I would like to upgrade the balance of my software programs to CS5.5 now but don't want to pay for the Premiere Pro  upgrade again since I already purchased it.  Is this possible to do with the bundle upgrade?

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS5 - Can we crop and resize at the same time?

    Flash 8's video encoder, use to let you crop (cut x amount of pixels out) and then resize  a video (and in that order it did it).
    CS5's Media Encoder is confusing, from what I can tell it cannot do both, you either can crop or resize but not both. ANd if you can do both, you definately cant crop before the resize. So which is it?
    Resizing made sense last, because you could put in new values for the resize nad figure out how much you need to crop out.
    Please help this is driving me insane.

    Everyone in my office has the same problem!
    We really need an alternative to AME both because of the crop/resize problem and many other seamingly random issues with preview and export.

    I installed Dreamweaver CS5 and Adobe Exchange Manager for CS5 too in my Lenovo 760p Windows 7 x64.
    The extension not open and appear this errors in the log.

  • Upgrade fee? Really??

    So Verizon provides a discount to certain companies or government agencies. THEN they decide to charge a $30 upgrade fee to counteract the discount they provide. For example: The phone I wanted was $199 with a 2 year contract. I received a $30 discount through my work. I look at the invoice and there's a $30 upgrade fee added on. So basically the discount is null and void. Needless to say I'll shop elsewhere even though I've been a Verizon customer for at least 10 years.

    Hate to break it to you but ALL the major carriers have upgrade fees. In fact at&t and Sprint are HIGHER. I guess you intend to play musical carriers every to years to avoid a $30 fee.
    Let's see a $600 phone can be had for $200 plus a $30 upgrade fee which is basically a 62% discount yet people feel they are being ripped off? Amazing.

    As  I know you can update the question. but if you want add new topic in existing survey it not possible.you need to create new survey list.
    For insert the Survey list as web part Edit the page and inset the web part as below.

    Talk about being nickel and dimed to death! They get us to sign up for 2 more years in exchange for the lower price on the phones. How on earth can they justify charging $30 for the "privilege"?  Shameful!

    You are free to do as you wish. You asked a question. I answered.
    I am a smart shopper and that is why I won't buy a used device from some random stranger on ebay. I will buy it from VZW or Best Buy where I know I will get a warranty against defects. You won't get a newer iPhone or Galaxy device for less than the price of a brand new subsidized once INCLUDING the $30 upgrade fee.

    VZW had had Technicians in their stores prior to September of 2012. These employees provided 15 minute 1 on 1 sessions to learn the basics of your new phone. VZW started their workshops around August of 2012, 4 months after the upgrade fee was introduced. These workshops are attended by large numbers of groups.
    I also said that VZW is a for-profit organization but so is AT&T and Sprint and T-Mobile. They will all do what they need to to make money. Looks like VZW has found a way to maximize the services they provide to us while paying little out of pocket to do so while still charging us a fair price to obtain those service. That's what making a profit is.
    Sprint's customers are saying the same things you are:

    So where did you get the information that not every carrier is charging it. Only T-Mobile doesn't charge the upgrade fee and that is because they don't do contracts. They force you to buy the phone at full retail but they charge you a fee for being on the Jump program of $10 a month. http://www.t-mobile.com/phone-upgrade.html
    This does include insurance of $8 (they're forcing you to take it). That means $2 a month goes to be on their no contract. That's $36 per year. More than the $30 VZW want you to pay to take their 2 year contract or $15 a year.
    So I would say no, you haven't educated yourself and are obviously not aware that there are fees for almost everything. Oh wait. Except VZW Edge. No fee for program like T-Mobile and, like I said, you may qualify for incentives with VZW for being an Edge customer.

        Hi there nursegrl02! We can help here with your questions regarding the upgrade fee and device charge. The upgrade fee is a one time fee that is applied when upgrading with a 2-year contract. If you pre-order with a two-year contract, you would need to add a credit card to your order as you will be charged for the device once it ships out. If you happen to purchase the iPhone with Verizon Edge, there is no upgrade fee. You will also be billed for the device in installments. You may have to pay a down payment with Edge.  Go to vzw.com/edge for more information.
    Did you upgrade with Verizon Edge or our Device payment plan in the past? If so, that is most likely why you were not charged an upgrade fee.

  • I-Phone Upgrade - "fee" --- $200.00 ?

    I got my first I-Phone - 3G on 1/9/09. Last night I lost it ----
    I have a security code on it, also have a ME account, got home and searched for my phone - it was offline, then I get to ATT and suspended the phone. Tried to search a few hours later - offline, tried again this AM -- offline, then I did the option to clear my personal settings.
    Went to my local ATT store to ---- buy a "replacement" phone. The person checked my account, said ---- there is a $200.00 upgrade fee if I upgrade before June ## 2010. I asked --- how about if I do NOT "Upgrade", just get the 8GB 3G (I had a 16GB 3G), he said --- STILL a fee if change before June ## 2010 --- that date is contract related.
    ATT said --- APPLE is charging that fee, I called Apple they said -- ATT is charging that based on their contract !! my chain is being pulled, somebody --- is lying ---
    And ---- what does my "contract" date mean ??? when I was with Verizon --- I lost a phone back in 2006, I reported it lost, got a NEW phone for half the cost but --- I needed to get a NEW 2 year contract as my contract was long over.....
    So ----- does anyone know this issue --- WHY ---- is there an upgrade fee, and IF I decided to get a low end 3G phone --- WHY does that fee still apply, as ---- a 8GB 3G is NOT an upgrade !! it's a "downgrade" compared to what I had (16GB).
    I'm just trying to replace a ---- lost phone, and somebody is playing games......

    AT&T's fully subsidized price for the iPhone is as follows:
    3G - $99 for the 8GB & $149 for the 16GB.
    3GS - $199 for the 16GB & $299 for the 32GB.
    This price is for new AT&T subscribers, and for existing subscribers who qualify for AT&T's upgrade or subsidized pricing with a new phone. This price requires signing a two year contract for the subsidy.
    AT&T offers a special program exclusively for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G: early upgrade pricing. This gives customers who do not yet qualify for a upgrade—likely because they received a subsidized device within the last year or two—the opportunity to upgrade at a special price that’s still below AT&T’s actual cost.
    AT&T's early upgrade price for the iPhone is as follows:
    3G - $299 for the 8GB & $349 for the 16GB.
    3GS - $399 for the 16GB & $499 for the 32GB.
    This price requires signing a new two year contract beginning on the new iPhone's activation date.
    Apple and AT&T's no-contract/full retail sales price for the iPhone is as follows:

    You get the less expensive price only if you are a new AT&T subscriber, or an existing subscriber who has fulfilled their existing contract for AT&T's subsidy provided by AT&T for an existing phone - in this case for the iPhone that you lost. You haven't fulfilled your contract for the subsidy that AT&T paid Apple on your behalf for the iPhone that was lost.
    And ---- what does my "contract" date mean ??? when I was with Verizon --- I lost a phone back in 2006, I reported it lost, got a NEW phone for half the cost but --- I needed to get a NEW 2 year contract as my contract was long over.....
    Because the contract for your Verizon phone that was lost was long over - you had fulfilled your Verizon contract for the phone that was lost, Verizon sold you a new phone at half the full retail price or at Verizon's fully subsidized price for the phone, which required signing a new two year contract with Verizon for the new phone sold to you at a discount. If the Verizon contract for your phone that was lost was not long over at the time, doubtful that Verizon would have sold you a new phone at 50% off the full retail sales price for the phone if you had not fulfilled the contract for the subsidy paid by Verizon on your behalf for the phone that was lost.
