  • Permission to end process of another user in task manager

    Hi there,
I have Software Restriction Policy enabled, UAC is on computers and current user is not a local admin.
Is there a way to grant a user security right to terminate process started by another user? Using GPO.
Currently when user tries to terminate a task using cmd command: taskkill /F /IM "process", gets "Access Denied" if that process has been started by another user.
I tried Computer Configuration->Policies->Windows Settings->Security Settings->File System, gave domain users full access to the file that is being launched by another user but that did not do anything.
    Thanks

I am not a VB expert but this code may give a view:

    Set colProcessList = objWMIService.ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM Win32_Process WHERE Name = 'Process.exe'")
    For Each objProcess in colProcessList

  • Confirm end of processing check box in task

    Hi,
In my workflow used fork with 2 parallel branches.
In one branch is a dialog activity step ( sending doc to incorportaors for review -  checked the confirm end of processing checkbox in the task )
and in the other branch is a 'Wait for Event' step ( wait for rejection - when status getting changes to 32).
when executing dialog activity with confirm end of processing, branch 1 wait step workitem is getting completed and branch 2 workitem is logically getting deleted and further step in the workflow is not executed in branch 2.
Same changes I am trying to do without confirm end of processing pop up.When I uncheck the check box and execute the dialog activity, branch 1 wait step workitem is getting completed and branch 2 workitem is also getting completed ( instead logically getting deleted ) and further step in the workflow is executed in branch 2. I dont want the remaining step to get executed.
Please let me know how to achieve this. I tried with some function module but its not working.
In the attached file, I have shown the screenshot where it is going wrong.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya
Both steps (in both branches) are getting executed by the same activity by the user. Yes, it's a race as correctly mentioned by Mike
As mentioned by Prakash, either you need to restrict REJECTION event creation or you can try an approach mentioned in the following thread:

  • Retain item in Inbox and confirm end of processing

    HI All,
I am trying to implement retaining item in inbox if user selects to cancel. I was told confirm end of processing is best otpion, when I try to change the task using pftc it still shows the confirm end of processing and background processing as greyed out.
First question will be if it is foreground processing and honest answer is I dont know, however I assume that since we open invoices and access it from inbox, it is foreground processing item.
    Can you please advise ?
    thanks,
    RS

    Hi Reena,
to find out if it's a foreground(Dialog) task or not, go to the task (PFTC) and see below the Method. If it says "Object method with Dialog", then its a foreground or dialog task. that means, a user intervention is required to execute this method. Another way, is go the method & BO in SWO1 and dblclick on the method. IF the Dialog check box is checked, then its a dialog task.
And, in the invoices, if you  are using FIPP or BUS2081.CHANGE method, then, its a dialog task.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply....FYI...I was trying to download from www.adobe.com on
the specific page that has downloads of your products.    As far as the

I am recovering from a hospital stay and had to send my wife to retailer to
pick this up because I am accessing email from home until I return to work and

  • Confirm end of processing of workflow in ESS

    Hi everyone,
i am facing a problem in the description of a workflow step that is shown in its confirm end of processing dialog box.In R/3 the confirm end of processing dialog box contains the task desciption but in ESS the same dialog box does not display the description text.
Can anyone give me a solution to display this text in the confirm end of processing dialog box when work item is executed in ESS.
    Regards,
    Kajal

In that case it is not required.
Check in QA for all workflows where this dialog task is appearing to see that it has taken new definition (in workflow template definition) .
One more thought .. did you created new dialog work item and checked that for that work item confirm end of processing dialog box is coming up or it is coming for those work items only which has been created earlier.
At last I would suggest re transport it and then do SYNC.
    Cheers
    Jai

  • Issue with 'Advance With Immediate Dialog' - Reg

    Hello Gurus,
We are on ECC 6.0 with the below system details.
    SAP_ABA     700     0015     SAPKA70015     Cross-Application Component
    SAP_BASIS     700     0015     SAPKB70015     SAP Basis Component
I have this strange requirement / issue. I have a User-decision step as step # 1 with 2 Outcomes (Release & Reject). If 'Release' option is chosen, then I need to display the same user another User-decision step for further decision. This works perfectly fine with the "Advance with Immediate Dialog' Flag. But now a new requirement came to run some background step in between these 2 decision steps. Means, if 'Release' option is chosen, then i need to execute a background method to validate some criteria and pull out some values into a container element in the workflow container. And then depending on the value of this container element, i'll have to pop-up the 2nd user decision step to the same user immediately.
The "Advance with Immediate Dialog" is not working in this case. The 2nd User-decision step is coming as a separate work item to the user's Inbox. This will not meet the user requirement as 2nd work item should pop-up immediately after the decision of 1st step.
I understand that this flag works with SAP Inbox fine ONLY for two consecutive dialog steps(Per SAP documentation...Condition step, Process Ctrl steps are OK to be in between two dialog steps). But i need to have some way of executing a piece of code at the end of step# 1 User decision and bring back some values into this container element.
I could have used the concept of 'Programmed Binding' between WFLOW <----> TASK containers. But, the problem is these steps are User decision steps with DECISION.PROCESS, which is a std Business Object and Method. And i cannot modify this std. BO / method, just for this purpose. It'd be really laborious to have a custom DECISION Business object and method etc..
Has anybody had similar requirement. If yes, how did you resolve it ?. Any other better ideas to achieve the above requirement would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You In advance for your timely help

    venu

    Hi,
    1) Why does the background step has to be between the decision steps? Can't you get the same data already before the first decision step? (I am just wondering that what changes your first decision step can make in the database, so that you need to get this new data after the user decision step.)
    2) One option for you is to change the background step as a dialog step. Just put the Advance With Immediate Dialog on for it too. And use the same agent as in the previous decision step. => Since you don't have any user dialog in the step it will be executed "automatically" and the user does not even know that this step was executed - he will only see the following dialog step. Just make sure that user has needed authorisations to do the things required in the background step.
    3) Another option could be to check if you could use a functional method of an ABAP class. Refer to Jocelyn Dart's blogs about OO in WF if you are not familiar with this stuff. Basically you could try to execute a functional method (including your code) from a container operation step that you could place between the decision steps. That will fill your container. Anyhow, I am not absolutely sure how this will affect to the "Advance With Immediate Dialog". Maybe the container operation with a functional method will stop the process similarly as happens now in your WF.

  • ABAP class method with dialogue

    Hi all,
I want to use a ABAP class method within a Workflow definition with user interaction. The SAP help says, that is possible, but I couldn't find a way, to mark the method as "with dialogue".
For BOR-objects there is a checkbox in the details for the method definition. Can anybody tell me, how it can be done?
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

    Hi Nicolas,
When you create the Task with the ABAP OO Method, you can select it as "Background Processing" else it will be a "Dialog Process".
If you notice here, "Background Processing" checkbox will be editable if ABAP OO Method is used, whereas in case of Business Objects it directly comes from method definition.
    Reward points if useful.

  • PMON / abnormal ended processes

    Hi,
as far as I understand now, PMON will clear up the resources of an abnormal ended process, release locks, blocks of the process in the database buffer cache and so on.
I'm trying to understand how Oracle will handle processes that has ended abnormal. Assuming an SQL*Plus do a network connection and starts e.g. a long running update. During this update the terminal of SQL*Plus will be killed. Will SQL*Plus rest in the database and what will happens then? Who will remove the network connection, the process from v$session and so on. These dependencies are not clear to me.
May anyone can give me a short explanation or anyone have a good link where this is explained? I know that this will be a complex issue and can't be explained with a few words, but a short explanation could help to find the right hooks to get a deeper understanding.
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards,
    Alex

Hi, I think it is the same PMON who periodically cleans up the occupied resources by such terminated processes.yes, indeed, that will be done by PMON. But I'm trying to understand how PMON will do that work. If an abnormal ended session is in the instance, how will PMON identify it and what will it do?

  • Do you know of any date specific transactions for year end processes?

We are using SAP ECC6 SD, MM, FI, CO with COPA. Our number ranges are not year specific. We have control of currency conversion rates and they are allowed for.
I have gone through all the end of year transactions listed in our manual and cannot see any that must be carried out on the last day and cannot be done retrospectively. However, we have previously had problems with this in other systems so, just to be sure, does anyone know of any SAP transaction for end of year processes that must be carried out on the last day, and only the last day, of the period?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi,
Though the period end activities are not date specific, there surely exists an order with which it should berun.

  • Firefox froze up. So I removed from computer and reloaded. If I close Firefox, can't restart by clicking on the icon. Have to end process in Task Manager. It then starts. Some links on some web pages won't work.

    Hi,
As I say in the question I don't know what happened but Firefox just stopped operating and then became erratic. So I removed the firefox programme from my computer and reloaded Firefox.
It now runs normally but I can't run Firefox on two tabs, only one, and if I close it down during a session I can't reopen it using the desk top icon. I go to task manager, processes, and end process for Firefox - then I can start it using the icon on the desktop.
I have also noticed that some links on a web page won't work - javascript is involved.
    Thanks for your herlp,
    Mike FD

It sounds like you are getting in a hurry.
If you force Firefox to close in a hurry, then it won't normally start until you re-start the computer. There are ways around this, but I'm not going to go into them right now.
None-force way to close Firefox down: Close the program and wait. Do something else. Firefox appears as if it is closed, but it's not. Firefox cleans out cookies and it's cache after you close it. That takes a few minutes. You can't restart it while it's doing house cleaning.
After it is done, then you can restart Firefox normally. You can watch it in the Task Manager.
The same applies if you are installing javascript. You have to wait a few minutes.
As for running it with multiple tabs, I usually have 5 or 6, or more, tabs open at a time. Have no idea what the problem is there. Firefox needs special permission by use of a pop-up option to close with multiple tabs open.

  • Firefox does not "close" when closed under Windows 7; Task Manager must be used to "End Process." How do I close Firefox and reopen it without getting a "Still Running" error message?

Even though Firefox has been updated multiple times (currently using Ver. 3.6.13) since I started using Windows 7, I am still unable to totally close it from the toolbar or taskbar. Firefox does closeout on the screen but apparently continues to run in the background. If I open Firefox at a later time, I get an error message stating that Firefox is still running. I then have to go Task Manager to "End Process." Electing to do so allows me to restart Firefox. I never had this problem with Firefox when using Windows XP and I never have this problem with any other software under Windows 7.
