Can anybody explain the Advantages and Dsadvantages of Remote Client Copy over Client Transport...

Advantages of Remote client copy over client transport
1. Client-specific data as well as cross-client customizing can be copied to the target client, this is not the same in client transport.
2. The prerequisites for performing a remote client copy are that an RFC connection has to exist whereas client transport do not need RFC connection
3. The copy can be performed in parallel with several processes.
4. Remote client copy automatically performs a consistency check on the tables being copied,for client transport performance check need to be done.
5. A remote client copy is easy to use and does not require file system space on
operating system level whereas Client transport require lot of space as files are created at OS level.
Disadv
1. A remote client copy does not create a file at the operating system level,
so there is no hard copy of the client to be copied. Therefore, the same,
identical client copy cannot be duplicated at a later time.Client transport creates import and export files at Os levels
2. To be able to copy all data during the client copy, the structures of all copied
tables in both systems must be identical.
3. An automatic repository consistency check is performed in Remote client copy and if inconsistencies are detected, the client copy is terminated and an error message is displayed.
4. You cannot copy the remote client data and use it whereas in client transport you can copy the files in a cd (like import files, export files)

server using client export method so I have performed client

Checklists /prerequisites before doing client export :
Source client i.e. Client 300 should be locked for all users
except Administrator.
Ensure that NO Users are logged in both NCCSAPPRD and NCCSAPDEV
Server.
Inform Downtime to Users.
At least 2 background work process should be there.
Take Offline Backup of both Production server & Development
server.
Following Jobs rescheduled for next day for Client Export
Process:
1)Collector_for_performance_monitor
2)Customer_evaluati on_information
3)Error reporting
4)Eu_out
5)Vendor_evaluation_information
6)Leave_en titlement
Remove scheduled job from DB:
1)Check opt
2)Analyze tab
Lock all users except administrator
Change database mode from Archive to Non-Archive mode
Logon in NCCSAPPRD in Client 300 the one which is to be Exported
1.Enter Transaction SCC8
2.Select the copy profile and target system NCCSAPDEV Server and
other fields as necessary.
3.Click on "Execute in Background" button.
4.Click on the "Schedule job" button.
5.Verify that all information is correct and click on YES
button.
6.Click on continue at the "Info Client Export" window.
7.Specify the start time and click on SAVE.
8.Specify an output device at the "Background print parameters"
window and click on SAVE.
9.Click on OK at the information window.
Monitor the Client copy using transaction SCC3.
when am going to transaction scc3 in that ->All transport
requests ->Exports -> in that my source client 300 is there when
am double clicking it its showing me list of how many times
client export has been performed in that my date is also there
when iam double clicking it and going to details tab this is wat
the error which its giving....

This is the error which am getting in the transport log.
I tried to perform 4 times client copy. the first 2 times i got
the same error and the next 2 times it ended with return code
===> 4 <===.

The problem you have is, that your TEMP tablespace is too small on the target system, you need to increase it.

This is regarding Client Copy Using Client Export/Import Method. We have two system Production and Development system. Iam planning to do a client copy from from PRD to DEV. I know most of the steps to perform Client Copy.I have some doubhts So if some one can please help me out i would really appreciate it.
!) I want to know which user should be used to perfrom Client Export ?
2) I want to know know which user to be used to perform Client delete?
3) Is there any particular USER who is recommended to perform Client Copy or any USER can do it?

You can use your personal defined on the system UserID.

Same as above, just make sure you have an account on the client and you log on to the right client

I am not aware that you should use a particular user. I have been doing copies/deletions with my UserID, as system administrator.

Reorganization ( I personally) use SAPDBA tool. However -if you use ORACLE, there are other alternatives as well. What is your DB vendor? I will append more info in a bit.

CLIENT COPY- HOW TO Transport client dependent objects

We are planning to do Client copy and after reading forums it seems that some objects doesnot get copied over like
Transfer rule
DataSource
Transfer Structure
InfoPackage
Process chain
Process chain variants (PSA processes)
now my understanding is i have to transport this object from System A to B
Release the transport and do the system copy.
Question 1-- what steps i need to make sure while creating a transport.
Q2 Should i click on the object in Transport connection and select (Transport all below, add/remove additional object)
(BECAUSE if i dont do that the boxes TRANSPORT is visible and no check box is in there )
q3 - What should be grouping ? (in dataflow before/afterwards, save for system copy etc. ?? )
q4 What should be Collection Mode - Collect automatically or start manual collection
q5 what should be selected in PACKAGE
q6 i can find Process chains and not PROCESS VARIANTS
q7 i can find Transfer rules but i cannot find TRANSFER STRUCTURE
i just want to make sure how to do these for all objects???
as i have to release the transport before system closes out

I want to understand the difference between Client-Copy and Transport.
After I have developed reports in Dev Box , which is the best option out of both ?
Should one do a client copy from Dev to QA or Transport Objects ?
What are typical Advantages and Drawbacks of both?
Can someone share on this ?

Hi,
you should transport your objects from DEV to QA and PROD.
Client copy is typically used when you want to have your DEV and QA system look like your prodcution system. You then make a client copy from PROD to DEV and QA in order to "clean up" the systems.

Data migration from one DEV(DE1) system to other DEV(DE2) BW system using client copy or client export import

HI SAP Gurus,
Please find the below details:
SAP NetWeaver 7.3
We have to copy all customized or developed BW objects like master data, DSO's , Infocubes , Reports etc.
We need only the design changes but not the data within the DSO or cubes that exist .
We have tried below procedure:
1) Taken export of DE1 source client 400 with profile SAP_CUST
2) Imported transports generated for above export into DE2 target client 350.
3) Executed transaction SCC3 and performed post processing, post processing was successful . Still we are not able to see DSO's, infocubes ,reports.
Please lets us know what we need to do to fulfill our requirement.

BI systems has mostly cross client objects. So client copy with SAP_CUST profile will not serve your purpose.

It sounds like not all your purchases transferred to your computer before your restored your iPod touch. I found an article with some steps to download your past iTunes purchases. Difference between system copy and Remote Client copy?

Hi,
Can any body suggest me , What are the major difference between System copy and Remote Client Copy.
As per my knowledge , Both are different
1.In system copy entire data recovered mean copy from Source to target
2.In Remote client copy All Client data can't me import if you choose SAP_ALL profile also
I hope Transaction data and user data can't copied
Anybody share this Question and Give me some idea about this
If anybody give brief explanation that is very gratefull.

Hi,
System copy will replicate all database from source to target system.
In remote copy only client in which you are performing the copy will get refresh. Also, remote client copy will be done between systems on same patch level. with SAP_ALL profile you can bring all data in target system including your transactional data.

Client Copy could not start because of Repository differences
Diagnosis
The table definitions differ between the systems. These differences mean that a copy of the data can cause a data loss and system inconsistencies. Differences occur when further developments were not transported or were copied between different maintenance levels.
Procedure
Transport all the developments of table structures between the systems using the Transport Organizer and bring your system to the same development level.
It is observed that some tables are missing in the target system. How do I copy the table structures to the target system?

Hello Ashraf,
There are repository differences between you source and traget system.
If you want to get the list of repository differences, then run a RFC check before you execute remote clinet copy.
You have to then remove these repository differences before you start with the remote client copy.
to remove the difference you have to:
"Transport all the developments of table structures between the systems using the Transport Organizer and bring your system to the same development level" as mentioned above
I would recommend you to go for Export / Import rather than Remote client copy.
There are several advantages of export import method over remote clinet copy

Post-install of SSM 4.0 and client-copy

We finished the installation of Sol. Man. 4.0 on a linux/oracle platform. At what point in the post install do we do the client copy of client 000 for data and client 001 for users to a new client? Before, during or after all the img config in 000?

Well, we had a chicken-and-egg issue here. Let me explain. By default, the SSM 4.0 SR2 install is at SP9, which gave it a somewhat simpler IMG. However, we gave in to the temptation of installing SP11 since this SPs were obtainable without Maintenance Optimizer, which gave us a more complicated IMG which includes, at some point, the client copy as mentioned above. We went through most of the IMG resulting from SP11 until we had Maintenance Optimizer working and then downloaded SP12.
I am in the process of installing the ABAP SP12 packages now and plan tomorrow to deploy the JAVA SP12 .SCA files. The IMG looks better and less confusing at SP12 than at SP11 or SP9. I think this calls for another IMG pass.
The $100 question - which parts of the IMG need to be done in client 000 and which to do in our client 100 (copied from client 000 after SP11 was applied). We are really confused on this point. If anyone can shed some light on this, i would very much appreciate it.

I am not sure of the disadvantages but heard that its a lenghty process (risky) to upgrade from R1 to R2.

After client copy and import export, WebUI not functioning

Hi Experts,
We have copied the client MKH300 into the client MKH305. The client
copy was performed using SAP_ALL authorization.
After the client copy a client compare was performed and several
differences were discovered. BDLS was run and a custom program was run
to copy custom tables from MKH300 to MKH305. This program has been run
in several other client copy cases and there is no issue with it.
When logging into the WebUI in client MKH305 an error message is
displayed in the application log:
"An exception has occurred during program processing"
(Please see attached screen shot)
When looking into the details the following text is shown:
Diagnosis
An exception occurred during request processing. This was handled
centrally. It changed the program flow and the result of the request
probably contains errors.
Procedure
Contact your system administrator.
Procedure for System Administration
Activate checkpoint group BSP_WD_EXCEPTION_DISPLAY. To do this, use
transaction SAAB. If the error recurs, further details are displayed.
When the check point group was activated there was no more information.
The links in the Homepage are not correct even though the business
roles, config keys etc look the same between the clients.
Much customization seems lost for the WebUI although when comparing the
two clients' customization for the WebUI they seem identical.
The client MKH300 works fine so the intention was that MKH305 should be
an exact copy of that client, but that did not happen.
Could you please help me out.

they are included in the xe server install ...you could try copying the executables but maybe that wont work if all the libraries arent present

Advantages and Disadvantages of JMS Queue over Fabric

I want to know both the advantages and disadvantages of using JMS queue over the default Fabric queue in B2B adapter.
Is it ok if I configure all my inbound and outbound transactions across all the trading partners to communicate with their respective SOA composite via the default JMS Queues(B2B_IN_QUEUE and B2B_OUT_QUEUE)?

But the size of the payload which I am using is unpredictable, it can differ from 1 MB to 40MB in future.This is not a problem. B2B can handle MB's of file if server has enough resources.
all other payloads greater than 3MB, it is getting faulted with the message:
"SAX Exception in translator. SAX Exception raised while trying to SAX Parse InputStream . Please make sure that the xml data is valid."Please remember that when B2B will find a large payload then it will write the large payload into the "Large Payload Directory" (defined in Administration--> Configuration) and pass it's reference to the middleware. So at middleware, you will not receive the actual payload but you will receive it's reference. Using File adapter sync read option, you may read the large file from "Large Payload Directory" at SOA layer.
If you are using PS5 (11.1.1.6) then you will see that for large payload, B2B passes the JMS header LARGE_PAYLOAD to the back-end so in your composite, you may build logic around this. If this header (LARGE_PAYLOAD) is not coming at SOA layer then payload will be available in the body and if it is populated then payload will be available in the "Large Payload Directory" and it's reference will be available in the message body.

Client copy question - Overwrite an existent client...?

I want to know if there is a problem to do a client copy over on a existent client, this is, now I have to do a client copy from 300 to 400 but the client 400 exists in the system, and I want to know if it´s possible and is any problem to do this or before this I must delete the client 400 and only after that I can do a copy from 300 to 400...?!

Hello,
Everything depends on the size of your target client 400.
If this client contains a lot of data I recommend that you first perform a client delete via SCC5.
Otherwise you risk that your client copy will fail (extend problems, undo problems, ...) or will take too long (because data in 400 also needs to be deleted).
Advantage of deleting the client first is that the actual client copy will go much faster (because nothing needs to be deleted anymore).
Deletes during client copy or client delete often take most of the time, because this is done via non optimized SQL statements like (delete from table where mandt = '400').
There are a lot of SAP Notes to optimize client copies and especially client deletes !
