I have an OPEN collection account being reported to TransUnion. Here are the details: Creditor: Why Not Leasing LLCAmount: $332Date Opened: 2/5/2013Date Updated: 1/5/2015Last Payment Made: 3/14/2014Pay Status: >Account 120 Days Past Due Date< Long story short, I leased some furniture from this company and paid on time for over 7 months. I was under the impression this was paid off. The last payment I made on this account was over the phone and the agent told me that it was the last payment. Unfortunately, I did not get this in writing. This is all my mistake as I didnt pay close attention to this account due to other things happening in my life. I decided to make a call to the company and spoke with a rep that was nice but not very helpful. I told them my story and then offered to pay in full if they would delete the account. They told me that they dont make changes on the credit reports and that their "tax company" does that. They then said that it would more than likely show " closed" after I pay it. They also decided to settle with "whatever I could afford" to give. Although this was tempting, I backed off and said that I would need confirmation that it would be deleted first. Again she stated that they do not make those decisions and said after I pay them "whatever I could afford" they would transfter me to Customer Service to discuss the credit reporting issues. I told them that I wanted to speak with them first before I decide to make the payment. The rep told me that she could not do that....she stated that Customer Service would not talk to me until payment was made. I then told the agent that I will be sending them a letter outlining my offer of paying for deletion and ended the call. How do you guys think I should handle this?

RCCharles was kind enough to give me the above suggestions in the context of helping me with my IE crash. Does anybody else have some advice so that I can spend less than $1000 on my next Mac desk and laptop?
I've only had 2 computers in my life. My then husband gave me an AMIGA which ran both IBM and Mac. Then I bought this little blueberry in 1998. It is still ticking away with the help of the fine angels of this board. However, I'm beginning to feel that the Internet is slipping away from me stuck on 9.2.2.

Glass broke a month shy of two years. need advice on best course of action!

The glass on my iphone broke with one month to go before the two year service contract is up. I was planning on buying a new iphone in november. IS there an incentive to wait a month? I think so but I a not sure what it is. If I buy a new one now, before my contract expires, what advantages am I forfeiting?

HDV ----- DVD - Need some help determining my next course of action.

I am editing my project in HD....in CS4 on MacPro.
Ultimately, I just want to burn a DVD using Encore or iDVD.
What settings should I export at??
I obviously want the highest quality before i burn the DVD and it has to be a file that can be burned to DVD.
I am not very knowledgeable about all the formats in the Export Menu.
Can someone give me the straight dope on exporting HD footage that will need to be burned to DVD??

We have a MBP with the NVIDIA known issue--purchased in August 2007. Is there any course of action for us?

Our daughter's MBP was purchased in August 2007. It died over the weekend and the diagnosis is this known issue. Apparently Apple is fixing these computers up to four years out from purchase. We are a few months shy of five years. The computer is at an Apple certified repair center but not at an Apple store. Do you think there is any course of action we can take for Apple to fix this? I thought I'd ask before just giving up.
We are an Apple family---two iMacs, two (soon to be three as we have another graduate) MBPs, iPad, multiple iPods, 5 iPhones, etc. I don't suppose there is anyway to play on Apple's sympathies but thought I'd ask for advice!

My 15" 2007 has the same issue, and what's especially alarming is I brought the machine to the Apple Store to test for this issue before the 4 year deadline was over and they said my machine wasn't part of the same batch.
However, I'm experiencing the same video distortion issues as described by others who have it. Definitely narrowed it down to the video chip, even a electronic specialist friend of mine says it's the video.
It's a shame because everything else, except the weak keyboards Apple seems to enjoy creating, works perfectly on it. I could replace the keyboard and sell the machine for $650, but now I'll have to scrap it out for parts.
Another thing, is the grill exiting the machine where the fans are blocks dust on the inside!, which is totally stupid, dust should be blocked from entering the machine on the outside, where one can wipe it off and improve air flow.
Removing the fans to clean the grills violates one's AppleCare/warranty.
Don't get me started about them denying security updates for 10.5 uses since July 2011.
Intel 10.5 got a mid May update, only because there is a 600,000 strong Mac botnet that they acted.
Apple is good at getting customers, not good at keeping them.

Multiple libraries, Pbook/Pmac, advice for management & updating please.

I travel frequently, and am looking for suggestions to keep all my iPhoto libraries up to date. I currently have a g5, Powerbook, and Mini.
I just upgraded to iPhoto 6 and I have several thousand photos on my Dual g5. I just came back with 1000 more from my diving trip. The problem is, they are on my Powerbook, and taking up alot of space on the relatively small hard drive. I managed to work through the rough upgrade from 5 to 6, and now I need some more help...
1) What is your advice for managing multiple libraries of photos.
2) What is the best way to transfer the iphoto pics (and movies) to my desktop, which of course has the larger storage capacity, after travelling...

There are several different approaches to what you want to do. Let me just throw out a couple that I'm familiar with.
To get the new photos from your PB to your G5 and maintain any keywords, and other organization effort you put into them, you'll need the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. It will allow you to merge libraries or copy between libraries and maintain the metadata, etc. That's the only way currently available to move photos from one library to another and keep the roll, keywords, comments, etc. with those photos. You can connect the two Macs with one in the Target Mode, probably your PB, and then run iPLM to move the photos to the G5 library.
Now there is a way to have a library on your PB that reflects the one on your G5 but is only a fraction of the size. That's to have an alias based library on your PB that uses the Originals folder as its source of source files. (My 25,600 files, 27G, are represented by an iPhoto Library folder of only 1.75G). When the PB is not connected with the G5, say with a LAN, it will have limited capabilities which are in part: you'll only be able to view the thumbnail files, be able to add comments, create, delete or move albums around, add keywords (but with some hassle-but it can be done). You can't do anything that requires moving thumbnails around, work with books, slideshows or calendars. Once the two computers are networked together again the library will act as normal.
Now while on the road you can have a "normal" library to import new full sized files, keyword them, add comments, etc. and then transfer to the G5 library. Once in the G5 library they will be represented in a roll(s) and corresponding folder in the Originals folder. You then fire up the "alias" library, and import those new folders in the G5 Originals folder.
It may be a lot of work but it may be one way of doing it.
I've not done any of the "sharing" with iPhoto so don't know if that's another possible candidate for transferring.
P.S. FWIW I've created this workflow for converting from a conventional library to an alias based one.

Battery stuck at 0%, looking for course of action

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on these forums so if I miss anything, I apologize in advance.
I'm currently working on a 17" MBP, version 4.1 (2.6Ghz & 4Gb ram). About 5 days ago, I was working on it with no problems whatsoever (really love this machine). I went on a small business trip for several days, and today is my first day back working on this machine. The battery is currently stuck at 0% and is not charging.
So far, here are the actions I've taken, after reading what others have said on the forums and from simply google'ing around.
I have tried the obvious, powering off, removing the batter/adapter, replacing the battery, then letting the computer sit with the adapter in it powered off for 20 minutes. turning it on revealed the same problem.
I then attempted an SMC reset and a PRAM reset as defined by other help files.
I do not have a digital multimeter available to me at the moment, so I cannot test the output of the adapter, although I have tried it in multiple outlets.

Are you using a BB original charger? If not you need to. I've tried other non-BB and they won't charge the PB for some reason. The one from the box can take up to 10 hours or more. Is the little lightning bolt indicator on the battery indicator? I assume you plugged the charger in the middle plug on the BB. Try the charger on a phone to make sure it's not dead.

Check your purchase history to see what the charge was for. If you did not purchase then:
Change your password
Alert your credit card company and ask them about reimbursement.

You will have to work with the authorized service centers in India. Why did the service center you contacted say that they could not help you?
