Advice needed to switch from Trial WS2012 to live version.

Hi,
I'm new to Windows Server OS & powershell, but facing a problem now.
With my trial WS2012 R2 as DC & AD, I've converted one of my client PCs from Win7 workgroup to domain.
Now I've prepared my actual WS2012 R2 in a new PC, with every setting the same as the trial version (Computer ID, domain name & IP).  And added the client PC into the domain again. Thinking of a quick change over.
Just when I thought it can be easily done with a 1-to-1 replacement, my client PC created another new account when links to actual WS2012. With same domain and username again, but in another folder.
Now in my Client Win7, I have under Users folder:
1. Orginal account folder for workgroup: MyName folder.
2. After converting to domain in Trial WS2012: new MyName.MyDomain account folder.
3. After replacing to actual WS2012: another new MyName.MyDomain.000 account folder created. And files from MyName.MyDomain folder are not accessible.
Why doesn't it link up with MyName.MyDomain account folder?
I don't wish to convert the trial WS2012 to live because it was installed in an old hard disk.
I wonder will migration procedure helps. Any advice to resolve it? Thanks.

You stated in your original post that you created a new domain with all the settings the same as what you created in your original domain.  That really does not make any difference because you created a new domain.  Each new domain creates a new
identity.  If you wanted to have everything remain the same, what you should have done was build your second server, join it to the existing domain, promote it to a Domain Controller.  When it becomes a domain controller, all the information in the
existing domain is replicated to any new domain controller.  After the replication completes (in your environment it would be done almost immediately), you can remove the original domain controller.  At that point, your PC would have been able to
log into the exact same account as you did with the second installation and you would not have ended up with a third profile.
As for recovery of a failed server, that's what backups are for.  You can use a backup tool, such as Windows Server Backup that comes as part of the operating system, to create an offline backup of your domain controller.  Recommendation is to
keep this up to date; that is, take regular backups.
A second method is to have at least two servers in your environment running as domain controllers.  This generally applies to shops that have more than a single server.  That way if one Domain Controller goes down, the other one remains to service
requests.  It does not preclude the need to take backups.

  • What is the best way to switch from Trial to Purchased

I have the downloaded trial version of InDesign CS3 and will purchase it.
What is the best way to accomplish this once the credit card has been debited?
    * Delete the trial version and download the purchased file from Adobe? (I would save off any pages created in the trial version of course).
    * Just enter the serial number provided by Adobe into the trial version I have been using and dont bother downloading the link provided by Adobe?
    * Delete the downloaded trial version and have Adobe send me the box version (taking longer obviously)? Once again, I would save the pages already created?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Just enter the serial number.
Note: if you only downloaded InDesign but bought the full suite, you'll
need to uninstall the trial and install the suite.

  • Need help switching from cable modem to DSL

Howdy all. I've had an iMac for a few months now and I'm still clueless. LOL (PC user for years). Please list all the steps I need to do to switch from dial up to DSL. All help is appreciated and needed.
    Thanks.

As you dont say where in the world you are it is impossible to give specific information. However this is how it works in the UK. ISP's dont install anything for you. You sign up with the ISP, you purchase a package, this varies from the speed i.e 2mb, 8mb 16mb 20mb per sec.
You then have options such as unlimited downloads, or a monthly data cap. Then you pay for your first month usually with a debit/credit card and setup a direct debit from your bank account there after. Some contracts are for 12 months others are 3 months and some are 1 month at a time.
But the thing you need to be aware of in the UK if you already have cable then this usually means you have cable TV and a cable provided phone line. In the UK you cannot get DSL on a cable phone line you have to get a British Telecom line.
You then provide your BT phone number to the ISP. Then after they process your payment they inform you as to when your line will be activated and then they send you a preconfigured ADSL router. You just then follow the instruction plug it in and it works. Most boxes have WPA setup already and have the password printed on the bottom of the router. An engineer does not come to your house unless the is a problem and they detected a line fault that requires and engineer visit.
Of course if you are a business you can pay for a engineer visit to setup the network as well but this costs money.

  • How to switch from Trial version of CC apps to Full version purchased for me.

I recently joined a new company.  First day on the job, I downloaded trial versions of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop only to find out that the company had purchased a subscription for Creative Cloud for me. How do I get off the trial versions and onto the full versions?

    Hi avgjoe62,
You can simply use the email address used to purchase the subscription to license the software from trial version.
The subscription is linked to the Adobe ID (email address).

  • IWeb help needed in switch from MobileMe to iCloud

I recently switched from Snow Leopard and Mobile Me to Lion and iCloud. In doing so, I seem to have "lost" iDisk, which is where I stored my public, downloadable files from my iWeb site.
I found iDisk, but it is not listed in iWeb as a destination source. Where do I now post public files? Thanks in advance for any help.

Singing up for iCloud automatically logged you out of MMe.  Just go to the System/MMe preference pane and log back into MMe.  iWeb will then be able to communicate with the iDisk server again.

  • Need advice on a switch from GB2 to Logic Express

    Hey people,
So I love GB2, obviously, but I can no longer stand not having any track automation. I want to be able to add effects to a single track in different sections, and of varying degrees. For instance, I want to increase the reverb on a single guitar track as it plays, instead of fading in a duplicate track with the reverb added. Know what I mean?
    So I want Logic Express.
My REAL question is the following: HOW MUCH BETTER AND MORE CLEAR WILL MY MUSIC SOUND WITH LOGIC? Is the 24-bit audio resolution available in Logic REALLY GOOD? Will recording midi and audio in Logic sound more "real" and less fakey? Sometimes my GB2 tracks come out sounding unprofessional, especially when exported to iTunes, converted to mp3 and burned to CD, and played in a car stereo. Something doens't sound right, you know what I mean?
Anyway, I want to know if it's worht it to switch to Logic for those two reasons: track automation and an overall increase in SOUND QUALITY.
You guys friggin' rock, thanks for your help.

GB2, as you know, exports a track to AAC format
It's AIFF that GB exports, which is uncompressed and the highest quality. AAC is another compressed format which again tosses out data.
Still, will Logic offer me higher sound quality?
This can easily become a Theory and Reality discussion. A LOT will depend on your expertise as an engineer. The end result, if you'll be burning a CD, will be a file sampled at a rate of 44.1K. This is the standard for CD audio regardless of what you use to create it.
LE will let you record at a higher rate than GB will, but a questionable recording, sampled at a higher rate will still be a questionable recording ... it'll just take up more disc space.
My opinion is that in the right hands, yes, one could probably get a better sounding recording with the expanded limits LE offers. In reality, just having LE is not going to make everything sound better.

  • Switch from trial to paid account

    Dear all,
I run an IT company in Italy and need to edit images with Adobe Illustrator for a client of mine. So I asked a collaborator of mine to activate a trial account for Illustrator CC 17 and he started the work. At the end of the 30 days, we decided that it was worth using Illustrator and decided to buy a single app Creative Cloud account.
I created an account with my email and subscripted a 1 month plan for Illustrator, giving my credit card.
After that, I gave the account data to the guy in the company which has to do the actual job with Illustrator on his PC.
The problem is that even after uninstalling his trial and downloading from the CC website, with my account, the installed Illustrator program tells him that he has 0 days left for the trial.
    I have two hypotheses:
1- since my credit card will not be billed until 30 days from the subscription, maybe it still is a trial version, and it is already expired on his PC?
2- or, maybe, even if he logs with the "paid" account on CC, his illustrator is somehow bound to his former personal account, in which the trial has expired
Either way, I have no idea on how to solve the problem. Any suggestions would be useful.
Thank you for reading. Best Regards,
    Martin Bechtle

I am having a similar issue.
I had the trial version of Creative Cloud, but since updating to the paid version, when I try and open Photoshop CC it asks for a serial number. I have been searching the internet all afteroon but am yet to find a solution. Can anybody help?

  • Advice for someone switching from PC

I've been an avid PC person for like 15 years, even used to work as a PC tech and consultant.
I am SERIOUSLY considering switching to Mac -- and I adore the 15" PB, it is exactly what I need...
Frankly I despise Windoze XP and cant deal with it, or mismatched hardware etc, any longer!
and... OSX is simply astonishing. I cant wait to run it.
...but I have a few questions before I drop the $$$ and make this major life switchover!!
    1.) Expensive software
2.) The serious issue of the lower memory slot/logic board burning out on the 15" PB's (should I go 12" or 17", which I dont want to?) Perhaps the newest revision will solve this.
3.) Needing to drop a bunch of money for Apple Care -- I've never had to do this with the 7 PC's I've owned. (granted most laptops dont make it to 3 years) But over $100 a year for an extended warranty is kind of insane, but by reading these forums, it seems the PB's are prone to many issues and looks as if AC is needed.
I am in a quandry here? Thoughts? I really really want to make this switch to Mac, but this is more than just a computer switch, it is a life switch for me!
    Thanks!

I was in the same position you are in now. I am the VP of IT for my large company and have been a windows girl from the start. I'd dabbled in Unix/Linux but with the job it just didn't afford me the time.
I am now the proud owner of a new G4 Powerbook. I have the upgraded Ram for 1gig and 100G Hard drive. I was able to integrate it seamlessly to my network at work and my home office. Other posters were correct about Version tracker. I have Office standard addition and it retails US for $399.95 at the apple store.
Here is a link that I did as a comparison to PC base Office also. You will see that they cost the same.
    http://shop3.outpost.com/search?searchtype=regular&sqxts=1&querystring=office&cat=12068&submit.x=13&submit.y=12
As for the Apple Care, all it will take is once of your computer whether it be a laptop or a desktop for you to be willing to turn out the extra money. I myself have not had any problems with the logic board but my PB is still fairly new being only 3 months old.
Since I have owned my Powerbook I find it very hard to open a Pc.
    Hope this helped.

  • Switch from trial to CC....Where's the link?

I downloaded the after effects 30 day trial. After some consideration, (basically on the same day) I bought the CC full version for $20 a month. The message saying my order is processing is gone. As is the "trial" part from "Download Trial." I clicked it. CC App showed up.
Now what? I have NO IDEA what to do.
Do I need to delete the free trial? Do I need to update it with bug patches? What do I do?

Just registering and logging in to creative cloud licenses your product. There's nothing else to do unless you get a screen that says X number of days left in your trial. If you get that just log out then login again from CC and you're done. Nothing new to download.

  • Need to switch from Win to Mac

I have been trying for over two weeks to get adobe to switch over my license from CS3 for Windows to CS3 Mac. I waited on the phone for over an hour then later for over two hours until my battery died for customer service area to answer.  And I have sent numerous web requests.
Customer Service tells me to contact Sales; Sales tells me to contact Customer Support.
At one point, I really thought someone had read my request because they instructed me to fill out a Letter of Destruction - I did, but the request died in place shortly thereafter.
I then submitted a new request (for someone to check on the original request ticket) because no on would respond to the original one (I assumed that it was just lost in limbo - it happens).
The customer service rep then sent me a letter saying to contact Sales and that he had closed out the request since it was resolved.  I guess it was about to reach their service level threshold and he needed to maintain "good numbers."
I have searched the web and I know that Adobe's customer service seems to be  ranked at the very bottom, but any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I could use a mailing address or email for Shantanu Narayen (CEO/President) or John Warnock (co-chairman) if anyone has it.  It really is at a point that it would be easier to obtain an illegal license than to try to maintain a legal copy, which is really saying something.  Please email me at [email protected]

The suggestion from skullmaker that referenced the open letter from Adobe to their customers and the adbecare email address was very helpful.
I emailed them and briefly explained my issue (not always easy when you are frustrated and you want to send them a blow-by-blow time line description of everything that happened).
Adobe called me back within 24 hours and acknowledged that their current customer support process is not meeting their customer service goals and that they are actively working to correct the deficiencies.
The individual that I spoke with was very polite (Tracy M) and understanding, and stated that she would resolve my problem personally.  She also provided her direct contact information should I have any further problems.
She didn't redirect me to yet another unanswered phone number or ask me to submit another LOD or to complete another web ticket - she assumed ownership for my problem and said that she would handle everything to get my issue resolved.
I believe that Adobe knows that they have a problem and that they are sincere in wanting to correct their customer support process issues.  I believe that my issue is resolved (or will be shortly).  My suggestion to anyone experiencing out of the ordinary problems with Adobe's current customer support process is to contact Adobe through the email address mentioned in the open letter.
My thanks to Skullmaker and this forum for helping me get past this problem - I really appreciate it.

  • Need help switching from LiveCycle to Distiler.

Hey, guys.  Total n00b here.  I am having problems selecting Distiller as my default form editor.
    My PC runs:
    XP Pro Service Pack 3
    Office Pro 2003
    Acrobat Pro 9
Last week I could not print anything doe to an error with my print spooler.  Microsoft's suggestion was to edit the registry and remove all 3rd party print software.  I am assuming this created a hit on Acrobat's functionality.  In the past when I would edit fields, Distiller was my default choice.  But ever since my registry hack, when I Go to Forms >> to edit, I no longer am able to use Distiller.  My default is now LiveCycle Designer 8.2.  I would like to go back to using Distiller, but I do not know how to change back.  Is there something really, really easy I'm missing here, or do I simply need to uninstall and reinstall the entire Acrobat Pro 9 package?  I have confirmed that Distiller is still installed on my machine.
I followed this Microsoft KB article if anyone thinks this will help.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810894
    Thanks!

    Michael,
Thanks for your response.  Unfortunately, I do not know a lot about the teminology associated with, or the functionality of Acrobat, but the person I'm trying to help knows even less.  I'm sure this is probably a really simple fix, but that I'm not describing what's going on well enough for someone to figure this one out.  I'll post the e-mail that I received about the situation:
Almost all seems to be running well. There is still a delay when I send a job to the printer, happens - but slowly.
The problem I do have is that now when I open a pdf, under forms drop down it only allows me to edit the form with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2, not thru Distiller or Acrobat as I could last week……Designer does not import or save(bring with it) any data already entered on the form. Before I could, with the click of a button, switch back and forth between entering information on the form and editing the form and its fields.
I don’t know if this is something that occurred as a default or exactly where Designer came from. I don’t mind it being there, just want to be able to choose what program I use, and at this time I prefer Acrobat/Distiller.
Please let me know what I need to do to get things back to ‘normal’
Again, thanks again for the respones.  I don't know, but maybe I should just uninstall/reinstall Acrobat and *HOPE* that it is running as it once did.
    Thanks!
