Af:query sets lockingMode from optimistic to pessimistic at runtime. Bug?

Hi all... I just found a strange behavior in our application. The application module locking mode was set to optimistic (just to be safe, I also set it in adf-config). At runtime I noticed that the locking mode changed at a point from optimistic to pessimistic...
I made a new, simple application on hr schema to test it...
First of all: I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.4, adf bc and adf faces components...
I have an unbounded taskFlow with a home page, a simple bounded task flow (with No Controller Transaction and <data-control-scope> set to isolated, with a simple view page (a readOnly table and an af:query on it and a back button).
At runtime, when I enter into the bounded taskFlow, the locking mode of the transaction is optimistic. I change the current row of the table, and then press the back button (witch navigates to the home page - my back button, not the browser's). I reenter into the view page, and now the locking mode of the transaction is pessimistic... That's strange, right???
What's even stranger, for me, is that if I remove the af:query from the page (leaving anything else like before), the locking mode doesn't change anymore, it remains optimistic.
The solution for us right now is to eliminate the af:querys from our application, or to force the lockingMode to optimistic as the staring point of every bounded task-flows...

Hi,
does it reproduce if the bounded task flow is not in "isoltaion" mode? My assumption is that not the af:query is causing the issue but the isolation mode. So can you check
1. run it in shared DataControl mode
2. if 1) does no reproduce what you see run in "isolated" model but with "Requires New Transaction" and see what happens
Let me know, which of the cases reproduces the behavior.

While installing postgres odbc driver in /oracle/psqlodbc only two folders were created viz. lib and share
In lib folder two files were created viz. psqlodbc.la and libpsqlodbc.a
And everybody on the net seems to refer psqlodbc.so in the "Driver = " parameter
Today, I extracted the libpsqlodbc.a by using ar -X 64 -xv libpsqlodbc.a again, still no file with .so has been created.

Issue with Broadcasting and Publish query to Portal from query Designer

Dear all,
I have created a standard template ZWT_STANDARD_TEMPLATE in WAD and I have added this for Adhoc Analysis in 'Set Standard Web templated' RSCUSTV27.
For Broadcasting I have added 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE70.
I have problems with my broadcasting as well as publishing the Query in Portal.
When I use a Broadcast to Email - it opens a new window with my standard template(ZWT_STANDARD_TEMPLATE ) I have added. No data though.
Same thing happens for publishing too...When I publish the query to portal from Query Designer or WAD it takes me to the same window with my standard web template. No data though.
I think both are related to the same issue. Its with broadcasting.
What is the default template for Broadcasting in NW2004s? Below is the url I have included when I do it from Query designer. Its actually starting the Command - START_BROADCASTER70 but I dont know if it has to do a SOURCE_QUERY=ZCOPA_C03_FAST_PAYABLES. Could anyone compare it with your urls

How do you switch on BW statistics collection for a Cube?
And what is the signification on switching this statistics on?

In selecting an infoprovider for query a to read against, do we select a cube and the cube automatically reads from the cubes aggregates or
can the query be defined to read directly from the aggregates?
If the answer is to run the report against a cube, then how do we direct the query to read from the aggregate of the cube instead of the cube?

Go to RSA1 - info provider tree and on menu - tools - BW statistics for info provider. Click that and you will get a pop up of all providers and check the boxes "OLAP or WHM" The signifinfance of this, is when you collcect statistics, and run reports out of BW statistics cubes, you can monitor load and reporting performance and also navigational patterns of reports by users.

NO. We dont set it.The OLAP will use aggregate if it finds anything suitable.

Assume a relation Employees --> Departments. I have list of department and i would like to get all the employees belong to the departments. I was trying using the following JPA query
Select o from EmployeeEntity where o.deparment IN ( :departments ) then set the parameter value to the List of department objects. Now i am getting the following exception

How to get query response time from ST03 via a script ?

Hello People,
I am trying to get average query response time for BW queries with a script (for monitoring/historisation).
I know that this data can be found manually in ST03n in the "BI workload'.
However, I don't know how to get this stat from a script.
My idea is to run a SQL query to get this information, here is the state of my query :
select count(*) from sapbw.rsddstat_olap
where calday = 20140401
and (eventid = 3100 or eventid = 3010)
and steptp = 'BEX3'
The problem is that this query is not returning the same number of navigations as the number shown in ST03n.
Can you help me to set the correct filters to get the same number of navigation as in ST03n ?

I want to set value from first view to second view's context node's attribute.
i get Sales Employee BP number in ContactDetails view, from here i want to set that value in to STRUCT.SALESEMPLOYEE
of second view in the same component.

You can access the fields from different views by either using custom controllers or by using component controllers, in your case you can access the Sales employee BP number from the Component controller.
first access the component controller as below in BP_CONT/SalesEmployee (in do_prepare_output method) or in (specific setter method)

How to call a set method from within a constructor

I want to be able to call a set method from within a Scanner, to be used as the argument to pass to the Scanner (from a source file). Here's what i tried:

        input = new Scanner( setSource );
    and here is the set method:

        return source;
    }obviously there will be more code in this method but i'm trying to tackle one problem at a time. Thanks in advance..

The "String in" declaration says: "Nobody may ever invoke setSource() without specifying a certain String. The content of the String is known at run-time only."
In no place in your code you say the compiler: "I want the 'in' variable (actually, parameter) of method setSource() to contain the first arg which is passed to the application".
This is exactly the same mechanism allowing you to write "new Scanner" with something inside the two parentheses.

Query xml data from a CLOB datatye

All,
I read in an oracle white paper that is is possible to query XML data from CLOB datatype using oracle text index using operators HASPATH() and INPATH(). I am not able to find any example on how to do this. Can someone please post a simple example here.

I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I see. Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not. You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone. Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup. You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from. To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below). Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them. Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.

I bought an iPad 5 days before my mum did. My one set up from switching on. My mums what a nightmare had to take it back to the shop for them to down load iCloud. How can they sell 2 different products?

I bought an ipad2 5 days before my mum. Mine started to set up from the minute I switched it on. However my mums what a nightmare. After many hours of trying to solve the problem and searching the Internet we took it back to the shop. This one had to have iclouds downloaded from iTunes. Was told that they are the same? When you looked at the boxes the discription on the back was different and mine had a tiny silver cloud sticker on it which ment it didn't have to down load th iOS soft ware from iTunes. I wish I had known at the time that there was 2types out there as I would have asked for my mums to be the same as mine. Not happy.

Sounds like one unit had iOS 5, the other had iOS 4. Unfortunately it happens that some units are shipped from the factory at different times with different Operatin Systems installed.

Oracle 11g- Straing behaviour of query after importing from Oracle 10g

Hi,
I have a table in Oracle 10g as follows:
Create Table xyz (col1 varchar2(50), col2 varchar2(50));
With following Data
Col1     Col2
A     320
A     110
A     290
A     380
B     ABC
B     256
B     LMN
I am running following Query
select * from xyz
Where Col1='A' and Col2=110
It works fine. But when I export this table and import it in Oracle 11g. It says invlid identifier.
But if I enclose 110 in single quotes. It works fine.
Also If I recreate this table in Oracle 11g like
Create table xyz1
as select * from xyz;
Now alos I am able to run this query smoothly.
select * from xyz1
Where Col1='A' and Col2=110
What is wrong exporting this table from 10g to 11g.
Any comments/suggestion??

The check in your where clause
Col2=110Is comparing a string (Col2 is defined as a VARCHAR) with a numeric literal, so there will be an implicit conversion taking place from character to number. The query then fails due to the B LMN row when 'LMN' fails number conversion.
I'm guessing there was there an index on the table in your 10g installation which would allow the query to be satisfied without checking the B ABC or B LMN rows but is not present or not used in the 11g installation so a full table scan results in an attempt to convert 'ABC' and 'LMN' to a number. Check the explain plans.
Or it could even just be a difference in the order in which the two conditions in the where clause are evaulated between the two versions.
The solution, as you have already found is to do a string comparision

Hi,
your BSP page get's integrated via an iFrame. So, simply speaking, it's not possible to pass an parameter back.
But what you can try is to use the Portal DataBag component. In the BSP page, store the information you want to pass in the browser. The iView/Portal than has to check if there is a new parameter / value stored.

How to retrieve query string value from the URL in my portlet

Hi,
When user clicks on "Advance Search", i am redirecting to page in the community. At the same i am adding some more values to the query string (to the URL).
My URL will look like this.
http://ctp-mc0149/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&parentname=CommunityPage&parentid=0&in_hi_userid=200&cached=true&control=SetCommunity&PageID=202&CommunityID=200&searchType=2
Now in one of my portlet in that page, i want to retrieve the query string values from the URL.
Please help me regarding this.
