I HAVE COMPLETED SEVERAL IMOVIES AND FINALIZED JUST FINE. NOW I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM MY LATEST PROJECT. "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (File already open with write permission)"! What is going on?
Hi
Error -49 opWrErr File already open with write permission
Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
• Create a new User-Account
• Log out of Your old one and into this
• Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.

When I go to share my Imovie to Itunes after a couple of hours I get the following message. "Unable to prepare project for publishing. That project could not be prepared for publishing because a error occurred(disk full)". What does this mean and how do I fix it?
This is the forum for iOS (iPhones and iPads),
I have refered it to get moved to the correct forum.
But my guess is that you have to clear space on your harddrive.
The video gets rendered when you out put it, so you will need lots of space to do so. -
I've been trying to burn my projects in imovie to dvd's and i keep getting the forllowing error message "UNABLE TO PRPARE PROJECT FOR PUBLISHING"
"The Project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occured (Error in user parameter list)
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks!!Can you give more details? What exactly is the entire error message text? there should be an error number too. Are you trying to finalize this to an external disk?

when trying to share my movie on Imovie i get the following error. "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-108)"
any idea why this has happened? How do i rectify this?Hi
Error -108 memFullErr Ran out of memory [not enough room in heap zone]
Turn off - TimeMachine usually works - re-try.
(the Application down in the Dock - not the Device)
But this can mean many thing's - My first thought is
• Free Space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ? (other disks do not count)

When I click on finalize project in iMovie, an error message comes up that says "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Not enough room in heap zone / )". How do I fix it, and what does it mean?
re-post in the iMovie forum where all the people that use that software are. This is the Lion 10.7 forum.

this error occurs. Unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occured. (Project is too Long)
I know this isn't true, as it is only 1:39:31. I have a mac with 160mb and 160 gb available. Could this be the problem? If so how can I remove some things to make room? Thanks!!By exporting to the right format a movie of an hour and forty minutes could potentially use up 160 GB, exactly what format are you exporting to. additionally I'm not clear what you mean when you say your mac has 160 MB and 160 GB available.

The following message always pos up: "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-50)". What is this and how can I fix this? Please help ... I need to get the completed DVD in the mail now!! Thanks.

I'm having the same problem.
When I export (and I want HD quality) I get the error message that
Unable to prepare project for publishing The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error in user parameter list)
How do I free up more space on my startup disk? My hard drive has 158.61 GB free. Do I need to free up more space? -
Why am I suddenly getting this message after I've been using iMovie for a few years now and have never had any such issue before: The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (OpWrErr: file already open with with write permission)

Hi
Error -50 paramErr Error in user parameter list
Can there be any external hard disks - if so How is/are it/they formatted ? Must be Mac OS Extended (hfs) if used for Video.
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most but not for VIDEO.
What this means in Your situation is above me.
• free space on internal boot hard disk? How much ?
Video codec
• streamingDV, AIC etc. (not .avi, .mp4, .m4v, .wmv etc as they are containers not codecs)
Pictures
• in what format ? .jpg, .bmp, .tif, else ?
Audio
• from where/what format ? iTunes, .avi, .mp3, .aiff, else ?
The "com.apple.iMovie.plist" file
Many users has not observed that there are TWO libraries.
• Library - at root level
• Library - in user/account folder - THIS IS THE ONE to look into
from Luke Burns
I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

You need more free space on your hard drive.

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....
Where do Your material come from
• Camera
• External hard disk
• USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?
