After Bios LiveUpdate computer wont' POST at all

I updated the MSI liveupdate utility, it said there was a new one, and then I rebooted as requested.  I then checked to see if there were any updates and it found several, one of which was the bios.  So I selected to update that using the Windows method, it did it, then said to reboot.  So I rebooted.  It just hung there.  I finally had to power off after several minutes.  Now when I power it back on it powers up, no POST whatsoever, then just turns off.  Nothing on the monitor or anything.  I went through the basic troubleshooting guide on MSI's site, but nothing works.  I can't use a boot disk because when I power the machine on it sits there for about 5-7 seconds, then just turns off.
Please help!  Thanks everyone!

  • After BIOS Uptade, Computer isn't working

    Hey guys.
I've a problem. After BIOS update, System haven't worked. I also tried press the cmos button and it haven't worked, too.
Anyway, I tried remove the BIOS Battery, But I didn't remove this 2 minutes ago. It's cramped.
When I press the power button It's working for 3 seconds and then stopping. And over and over again it's repeating like this.
My MBD is: Z97i Gaming AC.
    What should I do?
    Thanks for your oncoming helps.

I don't think pulling the CMOS battery and power cable out on newer systems is enough to clear the BIOS out and reset everything like what used to be done.  There is typically a jumper on the board you have to set or pull to reset everything.  It's typically called a clear CMOS jumper or something like that.  Look for this in you manual.  Follow the procedure in your manual to clear everything out.
Having said that, I'm a bit mystified by something here.  I haven't checked the specs on your board so I can't say if you have the option to do what I'm about to ask/say.  But...
Most new motherboards, including MSI, have dual BIOSes.  If you flash one BIOS and something abnormal happens (such as in your case),  you flip a switch on the motherboard and you use the other BIOS which at this point is untouched.  To an extent, you have two BIOSes.
On my Z87 Mpower, there are two such BIOSes.  To go in between BIOSes, you flip a switch on the board itself.  I think the BIOSes are labeled 'A' and 'B'.  My motherboard manual specifically calls this a "Multi-BIOS Switch".
Check your board's manual/documentation and see if this option is present on your board.  Your board is newer than mine.  I'm betting you can do this.
Try to enable the second BIOS and boot.  If the second BIOS allows your system to boot up normally, go into the BIOS, make a backup of the BIOS to your thumbdrive.  Then, go back to the other BIOS (by using the switch on the motherboard) and load the saved BIOS up which should replace the bad BIOS with the back up version and resolving this.
Essentially, the BIOSes will be mirror images of each other once you do this.  Since the second BIOS is probably untouched, if you follow this procedure then the system should basically be exactly the same as when it left the factory.
If the dual/backup BIOS doesn't let the system boot up, then you have a serious problem which will require more than a forum post I fear.
    Best of luck to you!
    Respectfully,
    Chris

  • Computer wont POST with X

So I go out of town for a few months, and when I return my computer isn't booting. Turns out the PSU went bad. So I get a new one and think that everything is fixed but then computer isn't booting up with the X-FI installed in it. Boots up perfectly with it removed. I'm currently using the audio from the mother board and needless to say, I need more than that. So what is going on, and what can I do to try and remedy this?

I have a partial solution to this problem; still working on it though. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-Bit and an X-Fi Xtreme Music.
I removed the sound card, and booted up. I went into Device Manager, and saw an "Unknown PCI Device". I uninstalled this device (right click, uninstall). Powered down, re-inserted the sound card, and it booted up just fine.
The problems continue however. I installed all the available drivers from the Creative website, but Vista kept detecting it as an "unknown device" and prompted me to install drivers. It worked fine, until I powered down. Went to reboot, and system wouldn't POST.
I removed the card again, and this time went to simply disable the "Unknown PCI Device". I re-inserted the card and the system booted. However, now I can't access the Device Manager. It doesn't appear in the Start Menu search, which is how I usually access it. If I go to the Control Panel, it's just a blank window with no icons.
I'm going to remove the card again, uninstall the device, then try everything again from the top. I'll update later.
EDIT: Didn't have to do any of the above. A second restart seems to have cured all. Weird.Message Edited by littledoc on 0-0-200709:48 PM

  • Help!!! After failed install computer wont start up

After an hour or so of the install on my MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz Intel received the following message:
"Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer. The installer encountered an error that caused installation to fail. Contact software manufacturer for assistance. Click restart and try again."
Computer will not start up now after hitting power button.
    Thanks for any help.

Experiencing the same thing here. I got the same error message so I tried verifying disk, which came back with the error "invalid node structure" & "disk needs to be repaired". So I click repair disk, to which I get "disk utility can't repair this disk".
At this point the hard drive in not mountable (unless I restart with the 10.6 install disk) and when I tried to restore my time machine backup from my portable HD it said there wasn't enough space.
All this after getting disconnected from customer support without a call back and suddenly being after hours.
I am not a happy apple person right now.

  • I am using Aperture 3 and recently installed an update from Apple. After restarting the computer and opening Aperture all of the "colour" is gone from the toolbar and events icons. How can I rest the colours?

How can i reset the colors of Aperture toolbars and event icons? They have all gone grey.

Have you just upgraded to Aperture 3.3 or later? The grey design is a feature, ot a bug
See the Release Notes: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2518 (Aperture 3.3)
Newly designed monochrome source list and toolbar icons.
The only way to change it, would be to manually replace the icons by colored ones in the Aperture application itself. You would have to patch the application bundle and to exchange some of the tiff files in the "Resources" folder.
And each time there is an update you would have to start over.
There are quite a few discussions on this, see:

If the battery has run down completely, you will need to leave it connected to power for a while before any signs of life appear, say thirty minutes. Have you left it that long?

  • After sofware update, computer wont print or create PDFs

On Thursday the computer asked to install updates to some pieces of software, one of them being Adobe Acrobat. I installed the updates. During the installation there was some error message, but it seemed like the updates were installed fine. However, immediately following this, I find that I'm unable to print, or create PDFs (export a document to PDF format from Quark).
In Word, the error message I get when I try to print is "Word cannot print due to a problem with the current printer. Make sure you have a printer selected in Print Center. You may need to print again or adjust your printer settings". I went to the Print Center, and the printer is present, and selected as default.
In quark, when I try to export to a PDF the error message just reads "Unable to open Printer".
HELP! My GF is a graphic designer, she uses this printer for her work, and shes about to kill me. I dont know where to start to figure out the problem.

P-Funk, it is always good practice to Repair Permissions before and after any major upgrade or updates. From the Application/Utilities Folder open Disk Utility, select First Aid from the upper tabs and your hard drive in the upper left hand column. Now run the repair and see if it solves the issue.
If not, boot up from the install CD, once it mounts (X window) go up to the Main Menu under Installer and open Disk Utility. Select First Aid on the right tabs and your hard drive on the upper left column, now run the Repair Disk. If it does not repair run it again. Now select your start up volume in the right column and Repair Permissions. Now quit DU then go up the Main Menu under Installer to Change Startup Disk, select your startup volume and choose Restart.
If this does not solve the issue you may need to go to the Abode site and download a new copy of Acrobat Reader.

  • HT1338 my computer wont update at all what do i do

my macbook is not finding any updates at all its a 13-inch the version on it right now is a 10.4.11 i need a 10.5.1 were can i find that

If you want to upgrade to 10.5 you will have to buy it secondhand somewhere.
Your MacBook could also run 10.6 and THAT is still available for purchase from Apple stores, but be quick for when 10.8 becomes available ... new product has a tendency to push older stuff off the shelves.
10.6 is very similar to 10.5 so that is probably the easist path for you to take.

  • K8N NEO2 shut down/wont post

Long story short. I cleaned my case, put it back together. System ran for a few minutes then shut down. It did that a few times then all it would do was turn on for a few seconds. Now it wont post at all. Any ideas? Thanks. SIK.

put components out one by one until it posts
also try to swap memory/power supply/ cpu and see if it post again
I know it is a long and hard process but it is the most effective way of solving the problem.

There is no good way for yur problem since iTunes sees the iPOd.  Yu can ry removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
However, I suspect a restor, first try from backup, is required.
