After changing some settings I have to log in everywhere all the time!

HELP! I followed the advise of Mozilla Support and changed some (privacy) settings because I kept having trouble with Adobe Flash Player that wouldn't run.
Now I have to log in EVERY TIME on my email and other accounts, even if I've told them to 'remember me'
I want to change that back again, but don't know where and how!

To be more precise, if you are use "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Cookies
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

How do I change sttings so I do not have to enter pass code all the time?

The passcode is a key security feature to ensure that nobody has access to your device and data without you entering the passcode in. You can only have the option to have it on or off so if you wish to disable it then go to "settings>general>passcode lock" to do this.

    Hi s.kouris,
I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:

Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.

When logging in into yahoo mail after typing in password Firefox is adding something, probably remembered password and login fails all the time. At yahoo mail Notepad does not work because it is impossible to close the list of items and they cover information, so I have to go to IE.

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox

  • I have to Force Quit Aperture all the time

Whenever I sit down to edit photos, Aperture hangs and I have to Force Quit and start again. This happens all the time. I used to think it happens only when I process raw images, but I've found that it happens with jpegs too. Apple once told me I should Repair Permissions and/or Repair Database and/or Rebuild Database. I did all three last night. This morning Aperture hung on the first picture I tried to crop. I am starting to get so frustrated that I am thinking I should change software because Apple doesn't seem to care about this product as I could find no support numbers to call.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi jimchall -- welcome to the Aperture user-to-user forum.
I think many people have experienced similar frustration. Determining what's causing your problems is going to take time, however.
My number one suggestion is: don't force quit Aperture. Which brings up the question, how do you know Aperture is hung up? Until your problems are sorted, it's a good idea to keep the Aperture Activity Window open -- it will keep you semi-informed about what Aperture is up to. (If you are comfortable with computers, I recommend also using iStat Menus 3, or equivalent, to monitor your memory, disk, and CPU & GPU status.)
Aperture does a lot of work in the basement (as it were) while you are busy (or not) decorating the upper floors. This is most apparent after large imports (of, for instance, an iPhoto Library), when the downstairs work can completely suspend any work being done upstairs. No notification is given to the user when this happens -- you see the spinning pinwheel, and the Force Quit utility will even report that Aperture is not responding -- but, in many many cases, Aperture is, in fact, working. Let it work. In my experience with Aperture, force-quitting almost always makes problems worse, and should be avoided.
Some of the first problem areas to rule out are from hardware. What computer are you running Aperture on? How much RAM? How big a drive? How much free space on that drive? Where is your Library located? Are you having any problems running any other software? Are you using any unusual peripherals? Is your network in any way involved in your Aperture set-up?
Then, of course, software: are Aperture and OS X completely up-dated? Have you modified the OS in any way? Has Aperture ever worked properly?
The next general trouble-shooting steps are to (temporarily) disable two of the more processor-intensive parts of Aperture. Go to the Preferences dialog, and turn off "Faces", and turn off "Share Previews". (Once Aperture is working properly for you, these can be turned back on.)
Then reboot, launch Aperture -- and let it run for several hours (keep you computer plugged in and set to not sleep). It can take many hours -- days even -- to completely process a very large import.
You have taken the steps to confirm that you Library is healthy. Stick with it, and with the help of the people on this forum you should be able to figure out what is holding you up.

  • HT4901 I have HughesNet with a capped amount of Internet capacity. How can I use iCloud but adjust the time it is on to conserve my Internet allowance and not have to backup my information all the time????

I have HughesNet satellite for an ISP with a capped amount of Internet capacity. How can I use iCloud but adjust the time it is on to conserve my Internet allowance and not have to back up my information all the time?

    Thanks Roger W1,
Yes, I was using iTunes to sync over cable without problems since orinigal purchase in 2011 and using 10.6 w/o problem. There was an "update" in Nov 2012 that crashed the sync service. I went to the Apple Store and reviewed the problem with the Geniuses there. It was discovered at that time that the update included mandated use of iCloud but enough of the un-updated code remained that he was able to patch functions to allow Microsoft Office to still sync over iTunes.
This March (+/-) there was another "update" to 10.6 that totally destroyed the patch that was in place so there was no sync service available between Microsoft and iTunes what-so-ever. Then recently, because of some unknown process, all my notes, contacts, and calendars were erased in both my Apple utilities and Microsoft utilities.
After many hours of frustration I was able to recover most of the information to the Apple utilities only, but those were unstable. At my visit to the Apple store it was suggested that an upgrade to 10.8 might solve the stability problem. That it did but being connected to the iCloud all the time keeps using up all my Internet time and I have nothing left to check emails or do research.
This, to me, is not my problem but one created by Apple. I have searched the Internet and support groups and there doesn't seem to be a solution.
The "aircraft mode" turns off all other communication functions and is not acceptable. Neither is disconnecting/turning off Airport on my MBP.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • SharePoint TempDB.mdf growing too large? I have to restart SQL Server all the time. Please help

    Hi there,
On our DEV SharePoint farm > SQL server
The tempdb.mdf size grows too quickly and too much. I am tired of increasing the space and cannot do that anymore.
All the time I have to reboot the SQL server to get tempdb to normal size.
The Live farm is okay (with similar data) so it must be something wrong with our
    DEV environment.
Any idea how to fix this please?
    Thanks so much.

How do you get the tempdb to 'normal size'? How large is large and how small is normal.
Have you put the databases in simple recovery mode? It's normal for dev environments to not have the required transaction log backups to keep the ldf files in check. That won't affect the tempdb but if you've got bigger issues then that might be a symptom.
Have you turned off autogrowth for the temp DB?

  • Customer wants to able to have his Windows VM  accessable all the time.

How can I make a user's windows VM stay available all the time on their Sun Ray without it checking back into the pool?
    Thanks
    Jeff Holland

You missed to mention which VDI version you are using. This is important because the capabilities and terminology slightly differs between Sun VDI 2 and Sun VDI 3.
Sun VDI 3 distinguishes between *"personal"* and *"flexible"* desktop assignments.
A personal desktop is owned by the assigned user (similar to a PC under his desk) and is never made available for other users.
A flexible desktop is only temporary owned by the user and once the user logs out the desktop is recycled and becomes available for the next user.
If you select and assign a specific desktop to a user, Sun VDI 3 will automatically use a "personal" assignment here. If you assign a pool to a user, then a specific desktop is picked up from the pool and assigned to this user on demand (when the user requests a desktop for the first time). You can specify for each pool the default assignment type that should be used then - either "flexible" or "personal". At any time you can explicitly change an existing desktop assignment from flexible to personal if needed.
Sun VDI 2 uses a slightly different terminology: A *"static"* desktop is owned by a user (similar to personal in Sun VDI 3). A *"dynamic" or "temporary"* desktop is only temporary owned by the user (similar to flexible in Sun VDI 3). All desktops that are part of a pool are per default dynamic. Static desktops are not part of any pool. Sun VDI 2 does not offer to configure the default assignment type per pool. However, you can set the recycling interval for a pool to infinite meaning that the desktops will never by recycled - this simulates the personal assignment type available in Sun VDI 3.

  • On the new time capsule a/c, if you lay the device on its side does it change its signal strength in any way? Does the time capsule have to stand up-right all the time?

On the new time capsule a/c, does the time capsule have to remain up-right? Can the time capsule lay on it's side and still function?
    Thanks

Please remember that the Time Capsule's antennas are up at the top of the device, and have been designed to work best in that position.
In addition, the air flow pattern to help cool the internal electronics has been designed to work best with the Time Capsule in a upright position.
When I lay the Time Capsule down for 30 minutes, it is noticeably warmer. I can't tell if wireless is affected that much since my home is not that big.
You could try laying the Time Capsule down, but my recommendation would be that you do not do this. You may get a different opinion from another user, so stay tuned.

  • Does theAirPort Time Capsule have to be left on all the time

Do I have to leave the NEW UPRIGHT  Time Capsule on and connected to the power all the time

There are two different schools of thought as far as the Time Capsule (and other Apple routers as well)
If Apple had wanted you to turn off the Time Capsule on a regular basis, they would have included an "Off" switch on the device, or a means to turn off the Time Capsule from your computer.
Clearly, Apple designed the Time Capsule is designed to be left on most of the time.
There is  less stress placed on an electronic device when it is left on, as opposed to turning it off and on constantly.
Yet, it is true that turning the Time Capsule off will save a bit of energy.
Knowing that just about any decision involves trade offs, you will have to decide which school that you want to join.

    Go to
     > System Preferences... > Mission Control
Click the 'hot corners' button in the bottom left. Are any of them set to 'Put display to Sleep' or 'Start ScreenSaver'?
    If not, also check
     > System Preferences... > Security & Privacy
Click the padlock (bottom left), enter your Admin password, then click the activated 'Advanced...' button (bottom right). Is 'Log out after ... minutes of inactivity' set? If so, disable it.

I will go on my email, check out what's going on and then when I try to click on another email it stops working, and my hand icon gets bright and transparent as if to tell me this program is locked or frozen. I close, reopen, works fine for a few emails, and then does it again. very frustrating. I was fine with the old firefox, can i get it back?

  • I have to enter my details all the time in newly updated Aperture 3.4.3

    Hi,
I have to enter all my details again and again in Aperture 3.4.3, any idea why?
    cheers

When you say "details" do you mean your licensing information, or something else? If the former,  look at the discussion Re: Aperture prompts me to re-enter my registration information every launch
