After I updated to iOS 5.1, my iPad2 won't rotate anymore.
I updated to iOS 5.1. the other day, and my iPad2 won't rotate anymore even if the screen is not locked. I went to service center, and after testing the iPad's accelerometer playing some game, the guy at the service center thought that it is not a hardware problem, but more on the 5.1 update. Weird thing is, I enabled the "assistive touch" feature's "rotate screen" function, and the screen rotates, although with prompting. That is, it will rotate only after I choose or unchoose to either "rotate screen" to portrait or left or right. Anyone else who has experienced this? Any suggestions how to fix this?
First of all, check again at "Settings > General" and view the Side Switch configuration.
If "Mute" is selected, then double-click the Home button, swip right the icon bar at the bottom and confirm the "Lock Rotation" icon is not locked.
If "Lock Rotation" is selected, then turn the Side Switch a couple of times in order to force the rotation again.

If it is an app compatibility issue - it IS the app developers responsibility to make sure that they update their apps in order to work with the new iOS. Apple owes no users a warning whatsoever. Common sense tells me that a very old app that has not been updated for the last two iOS updates just might not make the grade in the third iOS release since the app came out.
I can't even find an App called Top 3 Solitaire in the U.S. App Store. Perhaps the app was so old and it hasn't been updated in so long so it was pulled from the App Store. -
I am having a lot of issues syncing anything to my iPhone 4, just after i updated to iOS 5.
So i updated to ios 5 and i was having issues with everything. my photos and contacts and everything synced alright, but none of my music worked. so i restored it back to just after i updated to ios 5, and my music and ringtones and everything was working. but now, when i try to apply the ringtones - and some of them are even purchased - it plays what the ringtone is, but it just stays as marimba. any other default ringtones work, but none of my custom ones. do i have to keep restoring my iphone every time i want anything on it? cuz im worried ill ruin all my progress if i restore it again. when will an update be out, or does anyone have a solution?

If you change your email, you do not need to "change" your AppleID. Just edit your email(s) on your Apple ID by logging in to your AppleID account. You should always use the same AppleID for Apple Services (iCloud, iTunes etc) and multiple ID will cause problems and confusion in the future.

Like everyone else today, I attempted to make the move to iOS 8, using my Mac's iTunes. All was running smoothly, the progress bar was nearing the end when I received the error that "the iPhone software update server could not be contacted." With a now useless phone, I restarted it, hoping for the best as I could do nothing. I am now stuck with a phone which will turn on to the white startup screen and black Apple Logo, then instantly shut down, leaving me to repeat the process. If I hold down the home button, I can enter what seems to be "Recovery Mode," with a red iTunes Logo, as opposed to the usual blue. From here, all internet sources I have found suggest that I should restore the phone, but that's really where I hit the problem. When I plug the phone in, when in Recovery Mode, I simply receive the "iPhone software update server could not be contacted" error again, leaving the phone not recognized by iTunes. In non-recovery mode, the phone appears to simply turn off so fast that iTunes has no time to find it.
Any one with similar problems or solutions?This what happened to my iPhone 5 after I updated to iOS 8.0;
The update process was done smootly without problems thru
Over the Air.
Now when I cold start/boot my iPhone 5, my apple logo appears as it was
in iOS 7, but after 30 seconds or so, my Apple Logo dissappears the
screen goes black for 5-6 seconds, but then viola! I am at the Log-On
screen... Then I start using my iPhone.
Just like Chris above, I have done 10 reboots, (complete shut down and
restart), its always the same...
Other than this, my iPhone works just fine. I will not re-install the iOS.
From my past experience, re-installing the iOS does not change
these minor differences... -

after I updated to ios 8.2 it's hard to have a phone call without my phone pulling up my contacts or putting itself on speaker, mute or hold on it's own.
Looks like the proximity sensor is not working correctly. Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software.

my apple store isn't working after I updated to ios 8.1.3, its just a blank screen and it won't load after doing everything I can to make it work again. I even restarted the phone and I just don't know what to do at this moment.
Sign out of the Appstore and back in and it should resolve the issue.
Setting > iTunes and App Store > click the Apple ID at the top and click sign out. Click sign in. -
After I updated to iOS 8, I noticed that while copying photos to my PC, I see photos being categorized into many folders now. I also found some system files in each of the folders containing photos (in the name of Local Disk). Is this usual?
I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again. -
