After installing windows 7, will not connect to my router

I installed windows 7, 64-bit on my macbook late 2009 model. After installing, it would not connect to my router. However, it did connect under Mac OS X and it also worked with my roommates laptops, but not my macbook running windows 7. I searched everywhere and could not find a solution. Tried updating drivers (updated to bootcamp for windows 64 bit, 3.1 and then 3.2). Tried setting it up manually. Also, did not work. Does anyone have any solutions for this? It seems a lot of people are also having this issue.

For wired or wireless if you have not already done it,
1) Remove router cable from Modem,
2) Unplug Router power,
3) Unplug Modem power,
4) Wait a few minutes
5) Replug Router power,
6) Replug router cable to Modem
7) Replug Modem power
Also router may in combo with more modern (if wireless?) PC have security (password setup) requirement.

    Hi,
This is how I installed my printer last week (also a 7510).: Using USB cable to connect it to a computer on your network and setup from there. It will ask you to use similar setup for your computer, just accept this The setup was no longer than 5 mins.

  • My windows PC will not connect with Apple express

My windows XP PC will not connect to Apple Express.

Which exact model of AirPort Express do you have? Which wireless security type is it configured for? Does your Windows XP PC support this type? Can the PC connect if you disable wireless security on the AirPort?

  • Lync 2013 MX (on windows rt) will not connect to Lync 2010 enterprise server

Both internal and external (through edge) will not connect. I will put in the SIP address, try to connect and it will ask for the logon credentials (domain is different from SIP domain) A minute later it will state that it was unable to sign on. When I enable
logs I get a massive log file (~etl.bak) that is garbled and snooper will not read.
I have had no problem signing in users with Lync for the ipad, windows phone, or android devices. Does anyone know a way to troubleshoot this further?

Make sure you use the following to log on
    SIP Address : [email protected]
    Account : Domain\user
    - Belgian Unified Communications Community : http://www.pro-lync.be - MCM/MVP/MCT
Tried all the combinations, but I heard a rumor that the company has messed-up or incomplete DNS entries and won't fix it. On the Lync desktop versions I can work around this by using advanced connection settings (which don't exist on the WinRT/Store
app) to specify manual internal and external names.
Also tried entering sip.company.com and sipexternal.company.com in hosts file but that doesn't work either. that was suggested elsewhere as a fallback mechanism, but it doesn't seem to work when potentially invalid SRV entries already exist.
What I really need is for Microsoft to support the advanced connection settings, there's no other way around that.
    Two questions:
    1) Anyone know how to get access to the logging information which is enabled in the options of the Windows Store app? It's a long shot but maybe I can find somebody in this big company who will want to correct it.
    2) Do we use the usual MS Connect to make bug/feature requests for the store apps too? For many years now a lot of products have been missing from there in favor of other feedback systems like User Voice (e.g. Windows Phone and Visual Studio). So you never
know exactly which is the right place to report such stuff nowadays (shame because Connect seemed like a universal solution at the start).

  • I have installed a Apple Time Machine now my Windows laptop will not connect to the internet

I recently installed an Airport Time Capsule without any problems and my iphone, ipad and Macbook Air can all connect to the internet without issues, but my son's Windows desktop suddenly won't connect to the internet.
It basically joins the network and shows that it has internet access but when you go to any webpage it says, "unable to connect to the internet"
I rang the BT helpline as i have installed the Mcafee anti-virus, which was free, thinking that there might be a confliction? After a few checks i was asked to disconnect the Time Capsule and re-connect the BT router. As soon as i did that i got internet access on my sons machine.
BT suggested i speak to Apple as there is obviously something i need to do to the desktop to enable it to work with the Time Capsule, and it is beyond their capability.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, Pete

Yes I don't see problems there.
I presume the 10.0.2.29 on the Mac is just a typo.
There is a good chance windows is just being stupid, which is not surprising.
    Reboot the whole system.
Restart in correct order.. modem.. TC.. 2min gap between them, and then PC.
Test with just the PC running.
See if you can open a web page.. no luck
In the command window again, ping the various IP addresses.
    So ping 10.0.1.1 first.
    Then ping 8.8.8.8
If those pings work, then try and ping a website. eg www.google.com
    Does that work or not?
If ping works and the web pages won't open that is one of those hard ones.
Make sure under network in the PC it is located at home.. not work or public. Windows has this nasty habit of flipping itself autonomously between these settings.. take off the firewall if it is still a problem.
And finally go into the TCP/IP settings and change the DNS to 8.8.8.8

  • After Upgrade, Windows Service will not start automaticly

I just upgraded from 10.2 to 10.4. When I did the Windows File Service, will not start automaticly. I can start it manually, after a reboot. Any idea on how to fix this?

I am having the same problem on a clean install of Server 10.4.10, AFP & Web starts automatically on restart, but not Windows Service. This is the first time I have run into this, it starts fine on all other servers I administer. Then entry in /etc/hostconfig for SMBSERVER is set to "-YES-", there is no errors or messages of any kind in the console or system log, it just won't start.
This complicated with the problem I am having on the same server where I cannot connect via ARD after reboot without someone there physically plugging a monitor into the video port first (another open post I have - http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5850246#5850246 ). So, doing maintenance at off-hours is almost unworkable.

  • HP Officejet once was set up wireless, and worked, after one month, it will not connect to router?

I have been working with this new HP all in one wireless printer, and was working great, then one day out of the blue it stopped. I can't print out a thing, and when checking on why it stopped, it first printed out that it was not connected to the radio connection, which I thought was Bogus, then after working on it a little more, I went to the wps on the router and held down the WPS, as was requested for 3 seconds, but when I returned to the printer, it all looked as though it was downloading until it got down to 7 seconds, then it stopped and refuses to connect to the router. Does Anyone have any Ideas on how to fix this issue or, tell me what I maybe doing wrong???? This is Now driving me insane. I am connected to an HP Computor, it appears that the router maybe the problem, so I need HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP! Please, thank's to anyone who can suggest the right fix for this printer.

    Hello thesuperdude,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I gather that you have run into several issues with your Officejet printer since you received an error about the radio connection.
To better understand the issue, please provide some further information:
What make/model/product number of HP printer do you have? Guide to finding your product number
How is the printer connected now (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what is the error message and where are they being displayed?
Is the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet?
What operating system are you using on your computer (Windows 7, Mac 10.8, or Windows 8, etc)?
Have you installed the full feature software and driver onto your computer?
    Thank you.

  • Airport after 10.4.2 Will Not Connect after Sleep

After my iBook G4 goes to sleep it will not reconnect to the internet.
    It shows connection.
    It shows me the IP.
It will not allow me to do anything online.
I have to quit all internet prorams mail, safari, firefox etc...
Then I have to reset the location over and over and try until it works. Sometimes right off the bat sometimes it takes 10 minutes. This is completely frustrating since even the network diagnostic is showing internet, ISP, etc.
    I've rebuilt my keychain.
    I've rebuilt the WEP password
I've changed my computer name to be one word no spaces.
I need help! My wife cannot use this computer if it won't connect without interaction. I never had this issue before 10.4.2 was installed.

    Henry,
Thank your for the helpful link.
I created a new location based on the info in the link you provided.
    It worked.
Now, the iMac G5 rejoins the network automatically after sleep or restart.
I don't know if level 4's need point, you and Frank C. (author of the info at http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx/.68ae4ead) just got some more from me.

  • Windows 8 will not connect to jetpack

Our new windows 8 computer will connect just fine to public wifi, like Starbucks, Zaxbys, etc but will not with my jetpack 890L. I had it set to WPA2-PSK, it would not even hook to it, then I changed it to no security and it would hook up but limited and not go to any webpages. Everything else in the house has no problem with either setting. Also the software on the Jetpack is up to date.

        Hi TorreyS,
This a very unique issue. If everything else connects properly to your Jetpack, it must be some compatibility issue with your Windows 8 computer. Can you run your computer in previous Windows version compatibility mode? Check with your computer manufacturer for instructions on this. This can also be an authentication issue. Try authenticating your devices via Mac filtering. See link below for instructions. Keep us posted.

Since you have the media to reinstall Windows, that will be your best bet.
Win 10 TP is still a beta. There can be numerous possibilities that resulted in the "black screen" situation. You could be running around like the proverbial " chicken without a head " trying to solve the problem.
Save the headache, reinstall and start from scratch. Unfortunately you will be losing the files you have not backed up.
    Another suggestion :
If you can wait and if you have  computer #2......
It is quite possible that a new build is forthcoming soon.
Use your computer #2 to download the new build ISO file, burn it to a bootable DVD or USB > use it to install the new build into computer #1.

  • Error message after install-now iPhoto will not open

After installing iPhoto, a message asks to upgrade the library. Soon, a message says
There is a problem in your iPhoto library folder. In the finder, select the iPhoto Library Folder. Then choose file > Get Info. Make sure you have Read & Write permissions for the folder and then apply this setting to all the enclosed items.
All you can do is quit after this message
Easy prompts, that I have followed, and now I do have read and write permissions selected, without any change. Iphoto sill will not open.

    Metal Ox
Whats most likely happened is that permissions on one or more of the pics have become screwed up. Try the following:
    Download BatchMod from
    http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/
and copy the settings shown here:

  • Airport will not connect to Linksys router after iDisk sync force quit

    Hi,
Hoping someone can help me here, kinda at my wits end.
A week ago I was video ichatting and restarted my MacBook because the video feed was sluggish. I thought a restart would help.
Unknown to me was that my iDisk was syncing. I recieved an warning dialogue box and was given the option of canceling the restart or force quitting the iDisk sync. I choose to force quit and proceed with the restart. After choosing to continue with the force quit I received an error message, it had the phrase "Mirror Agent" in it, and then my MacPro restarted.
Since that first restart, I have not been able to connect, using Airport, to my Linksys Wireless router (model # WRT54 GX4).
This is where it gets strange. Airport sees the router, displays a signal strength, shows up on my list of perfered networks...it displays all of the signs of a fully connected router but when I try to access the web, check mail or use iChat I cannot because Safari, Mail and iChat tell me that I am not connected to the internet.
When I ran the network dianogistic tool, it first asked me why I would want to run it because it thought I was already connected. After running the tool it still came back with the same results, I was connect to the internet. But I still couldn't launch Safari, it just hung.
This is where it gets really wierd. My wife, she's on a HP, can connect, using her built-in wireless card. Even after changing the Firmware on the Linksys router, her pc can still connect.
And here's the icing on the cake. There are some unprotected wireless networks on my street. I can connected to those but not my own! Something has to be blocking the signal between my AirPort card and the Linksys router. Does that make sense?
And if there is one saving grace to all of this, I still can connect to the web using the built-in Ethernet.
    Here's what I have tried:
Removed Perfered Network, restarted MAC, added network back, still no connectivity.
Removed security (was using WPA/WPA2) from the router still no connectivity.
Removed Airport Keychain, restarted MAC, added router back, still no connectivity.
Repaired the permissions on my HD, someone at work told me to try that, still no connectivity.
Updated firmware to Linksys router to version 1.00.20, no connectivity.
Rebooted Linksys router and cable modem, still no connectivity.
Thank you to all in advance for reading my rambling note and forgiving my poor spelling (it is way past my bedtime and the keys are really blurry). I am still very new to Mac's and appreiciate any help that you can provide.
    Cheers,
    Alan

Sounds like you have two wireless networks on the same channel.
Change the channel on the Airport Express.

Have gone back to previous OS, deleted and re-downloaded install file and attempted to install Mavericks 5 times to same result.
    Ran disk utility, all okay.
Keep getting a screen saying that a problem was encountered on booting up, hit a key, etc. computer then re-boots and will not make it past that point.

Welcome to Discussions - which model iMac do you have? No G5 iMac takes more than 2.5GB of RAM. If you have an intel, try removing one of the sticks and see if that helps.

I keep getting "Printer not connected" message.

    Hello Manuel,
I think you will need to give us a little more information so we can help.
         What printer is it?
         Did you update its driver?
What things did you try to get it to work such as
deleting then readding the printer from your Print and Scan preference pane?

  • Windows xp will not connect to airport extreme

I can connect if I make the network unsecure but when i make it secure my computer with a windows xp operating system can not connect. My ibook connects fine either way. It does show the network in range but when i try to connect and enter the password in the network key the computer says waiting for the network and then after3-4 minutes does not connect. Any help please?

I am having the same problem. Apple Support took me through a bunch of steps over an hour and then sort of gave up and said this is a Microsoft problem. Great help! I may end up returning the AEBS, because this is just WAY too much work.
When I set the AEBS (using MacBook Pro) at WEP level of security, by the way, the Network Connections available box on the XP Notebook still labels the network as a WPA/WPA2 network. The WEP option does not appear.
