After scrubbing virus, firefox cannot connect to internet in one area only of my computer

scrubbed a virus win32/nuqel.E and win32/Fake Spypro from multiple user areas on my laptop, now in one user area only I am not able to connect to internet on Firefox, able to connect on Opera in that user area and able to connect in all other user areas with Firefox, what could be causing this anomally?

    I did a hard reset of the linksys router. I changed the name of the wireless network. I did this using the PC that is wired to the router. The PC continues to work just fine.
    The G4 continues to be able to log-in in the wireless network, but there is no internet connection with the G4. Under Network Status, the G4 says "Airport is connected to the network. Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet" Is this something I should try to fix?

  • Firefox cannot connect to Internet.

    Firefox 5.0 cannot connect to the Internet after changing the connection from my corporate connection to any other connection. Changing from any other connection to the corporate gives the same problem with the Firefox. IE 7 can connect to the Internet after the changing. Closing and restarting the Firefox allows to connect, but the closing loses all the open pages in the tabs.
    The network setting is to use the system proxy settings.
    How to resolve the problem? How to make Firefox not to lose connection, as IE7 does not lose?

    The default Firefox home page is on your own machine, so sound like it is your Firewall.

  • Firefox cannot connect to internet yet other programs can!

    Whenever I load Firefox 3.6.7 It doesn't connect to the internet. It constantly says "Unable to connect" however, other browsers such as Opera, I.E, Chrome, these work, also same for Firefox 4.0 Beta 1 too.

    after using wifi in the hotels this week, i cannot connect to the internet via my home network. I'm connected to the wifi but, can't connect to the internet.

    I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
    Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
    Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
    Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
    If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
    Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
    While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref:Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
    After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
    Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
    Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
    In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • After 4.2 update cannot connect to internet

    Having just updated my Airport Express with the latest update 4.2 I now seem unable to connect to the internet. Yet when I the Ethernet cable directly into my powerbook, no problems. I've run the assistant countless times, Ethernet cable connected, unconnected, completed a hard reset and re-started everything. When I check the Airport Admin Utilty, all the information for my ISP has been detected by the unit and is visable and the second Express unit with printer and speakers seems unaffected. Is there a glitch in the update???

    Downloaded "Binary File" (see link) to desk top and uploaded using the Airport Admin Utility. This puts Airport back to it's 'box like' state. Did a hard reset on both units, run the Assistant and I am delighted to say...It's all systems go!!! So a big Thanks to Nigel!!!

  • After resetting airport extreme, cannot connect to internet

    Hi all,
    Few weeks ago, my modem died so today I got a new one. Connected to Airport Extreme, it wouldn't work. I downloaded airport utility for windows (I am now using a window pc with airport) and did a reset and created a new network and none of it helped. The pc is seeing the airport but it just cant connect with the internet. I keep getting message that involves "double NAT"

    A Double NAT error indicates that your "modem" is actually a router. Since the AirPort Extreme is also a router, you wind up with two routers in series on a network, which is a no-no.
    The AirPort Extreme needs to be configured in Bridge Mode to work correctly with your "modem".
    Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
    Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
    Update
    Then restart your entire network

  • HP LaserJet M1536dnf cannot connect to internet but we are able to print wirelessly.

    I connected our HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP via USB to our Aiport Express...  I was able locate and add it using the Print & Scan function in System Tools (and I am able to print wirelessly) but we cannot scan from our computers or use AirPrint.
    I pulled up a Network Summary and it says it the Network Cable is disconnected. After reading some other users' feedback, I found a suggestion of using an ethernet cable, rather than USB, so I tried that - no change.  Right now I have both the USB and ethernet cables plugged in...  still no luck.
    Worth noting (maybe?) - when reset the Airport, the light next to the Ethernet plug blinked a few times but then went out.
    Seems weird that we would be able to print wirelessly while it says it's not connected but maybe these are two different things?
    Help please, this is the third printer we've purchased in the last 2 months and I'd *really* like this one to work.

    Sorry, it's my Desktop PC that the Router and Modem are connected with.
    I went into the thing with my IP addy into internet explorer. I couldn't find where to change the IP and all the stuff with the IP seemed normal. None of them had the one that the router said it was operating on.
    If I create a NEW umm channel, or whatever, will I have to redo the Laptop and my Xbox config wirelessly? I should note I had a friend install all of this router/wireless stuff for me, since I am nto good with this kind of thing. So, I'm not completely up on how to do all this stuff. I was gonna ask if he could do something but I haven't got the chance to talk to him, so I came to you guys.
    That's where the situation stands right now. I just wanna make sure I'm not setting myself up for hours of work. I'm sure it's easy, since he didn't take too long setting it up. But I don't like messing with things that might screw up my system/modem etc beyond what it is already.

    It should be installed automatically if you install iTunes, but I guess when you installed iTunes you didn't have Firefox.  Just reinstall iTunes and it should work OK  (your iTunes library will not be affected)

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    What exact error message you are getting while trying to connect the wireless network ?
    Try to readjust the wireless settings on your router...Go to Linksys setup page...Under Wireless Tab..Change the channel to 11, If the SSID is linksys(default) then, change it to some unique name...and click on save settings...Go to the subtab "Advance Wireless Settings" under Wireless and change the Beacon Interval to 75, Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
    Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

    I like many folks here is new to a Mac. I have a iMac intel duel processor. i apparently did this update to 10/4/8 10/2/06. Since then airport does not work and I cannot connect to internet at all. I have talked to Apple customer service but so far no help there. They want me to reinstall disc that came with computer. I also have a new MacBook that has update also. I can set it beside the iMac in my office and it works great. We have a wirelss system in our home and a PC and the MacBook still connect with no problem. Settings on iMac and MacBook look identical to what I can tell. Nothing I try to connect works, rebooting, change some setting. Can anyone offer easy to follow suggestions to a new Mac user. Thanks

    Since it's only the iMac that's having the issue connecting using WPA, we don't need to troubleshoot the router or the other computers.
    I suggest trying the following on the iMac before attempting to reload the previous version of the OS.
    If you use "Preferred Networks," instead of "Automatic" for your "By default, join" setting Location, try the following:
    System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort > AirPort tab
    - Delete all preferred networks with encryption
    - Add them again after manually connecting
    (Note: It will be faster if you turn on "Automatically add new networks to preferred networks list" under "Options" of the AirPort network connection.)
    If this doesn't work, something might have gone wrong with the update to 10.4.8. I would suggest that you follow the Apple Tech's recommendation and reinstall the previous OS using the installation disk that came with your iMac.

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

    I have a Macbook Pro 2010 OS X 10.8.3.  I cannot connect to internet via wifi (Air por).  My Macbook Pro does not recognize my network and when I select it from the list of network it asks for my network password.  when I type in my password a dialog box gives me timeout error.  Please could anyone help me.  I am using ethernet for my connection at the moment.  Do I need to reset my macbookpro?  if yes, what will happen to my applications and operating system (mountain lion)?
