Aggregates having too many partitions

I have come across a situation where the aggregrates has too many partitions and I cant correct this with RSRV checks.
This is the error message in RSRV.
"E table of aggregate 100157 has too many partitions"
There are many errors of this kind. How can I resolve this issue.
Appreciate your help..

Take some time to go through it..
Numerous questions on this note made it necessary to talk a bit about E tables here as well since E facttables may also be partitioned. But they are only allowed to be partitioned by the time characteristics 0FISCPER and 0CALMONTH and only once they are activated. Any attempts to switch on partitioning after the activation has taken place and the cube has data (regardless whether in F or E table) is not supported at all. You have to do that by creating a second cube, partition that one and then load it from the first via an export datasource.

The final tool for these E table partition related question will be delivered with the next release of BW as part of Netweaver 2004s. There will be a repartitioning tool allowing you to dynamically (well, you still shouldn't do this every day;-) change the partitioning range of a cube. And it will allow you to switch cubes to be partitioned which were unpartitiond before without going through the reload scenario that is necessary in BW 3.X (where X = 0, 1 or 5).
Since that tool is based on major rewrites of existing as well as creation of new functionality, it can not be downported to BW 3.X

  • E Table of aggregate has too many partitions

    Hi,
While checking performance info of the query I'm getting red light on one of the lines saying aggregate 100067 has too many partitions in E table.
Could you guys pls let me know what is this all about and how to reslove the same?
    Thanks
    R

Does your cube have compress after rollup on the aggregates...?
The aggregate is partitioned in the same way the E fact table is partitioned. You should choose the compress upon rollup option in the rollup tab of the infocube... Set the same and then if possible deactivate and do another rollup to the aggregate...

  • Too many partitions in my W530?

This may look like a silly question and I fully admit that it might be it... But I have been unable to find a way to get rid of some apparently unuseful partitions in my SSD. I am attaching two images (see below) for clarity.
In image 1, I can see only two partitions, C: and Q: and there are also listed three other "Devices with Removable Storage": the DVD RW drive (D: ), the Removable Disk (F: ) and the Removable Disk (G: ). I tried to get rid of these last two (F: and G: ) but could not figure out how to achieve it. Not that their presence is a problem, just for cleaning purposes, as I do not see any need for them to be listed there. I don't even fathom what they may actually represent.
In image 2, taken from the Acronis True Image backup app, besides the same C: and Q: partitions, I also see a System_drv and an unamed partition that are not listed in the Windows-7 figure. The Unamed Partition, by the way, is always empty but I was discouraged in the past to just get rid of it. I wonder if I should, having received conflicting advice on whether or not to do it.
My question is: How can I eliminate the Removable Disks F: and G: as shown in the Windows figure and would it be a good idea to get rid of the Unamed partition as shown in the Acronis figure.
All help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you were to install Win7 from scratch on a brand new empty drive (spinner or SSD, doesn't matter) and not change anything from the standard default installation options, you'd get TWO partitions:
    (1) un-lettered "system reserved" 100MB, where Boot Manager (and boot menu, presented if you were to install a second or subsequent bootable OS after installing Win7 as the first bootable OS) is placed.  This is also marked as the ACTIVE partition, so that the BIOS goes here to start the actual boot process.
    (2) C-partition for the rest of the drive.  This is where Windows itself gets installed, as a "system" drive.
In the case of Lenovo-provided machines, they have installed additional recovery tools, which are placed into that small un-lettered partition normally referred to as "system reserved" and only 100MB.  Lenovo has enlarged the partition from the standard 100MB to about 1.5GB, but it's functionally identical in purpose.  Also, it's been labeled "SYSTEM_DRV", rather than "System Reserved", but this is of no relevance.
And Lenovo's also added that additional Q-partition, which is where the "data" for system recovery is placed, in the event you needed to or wanted to restore your machine to initial factory state, exactly as it looked when it first came out of the box.
So... what's critical here is that standard Windows7 requires the TWO partitions: (1) ACTIVE partition, where Boot Manager and boot menu lives and where the BIOS goes to start the boot process on what is configured as the first hard drive in the boot sequence, and (2) C-partition because that is specified as the one-and-only bootable OS partition according to the default one-OS boot menu built by the Win7 installer and subsequently examined by Boot Manager at boot time.  Since by default there is only one bootable OS you will not be presented with the boot menu, but instead Boot Manager will simply use that one-and-only OS and start it.  If you had two or more bootable OS's, you'd get a boot list presented onscreen by Boot Manager, and you'd need to select which one to boot from within say 10 seconds else the default OS would automatically be booted.
Any "system image" backup requires BOTH of the above partitions to be checked, since [at least theoretically] BOTH of them need to be backed up and/or restored in tandem should you need to recover from a disaster.  By backing and restoring BOTH, you guarantee a 100% working operating environment should you need to recover from a disaster.
Now the Q partition can be deleted (and its space re-allocated to either expand C, or perhaps in conjunction with shrinking the generally much too large C can be used to allocate one or more additional "data" partitions D, E, etc.) if you will NEVER need to or want to recover back to Lenovo's "factory-provided" out-of-the-box system setup.  This could be the case if you use an alternative method for disaster recovery, such as using Macrium Reflect to take regular periodic (say once a week) "system image" backups, say to an external USB 3.0 drive.
So you could use Macrium Reflect to take an initial "system image" backup, which would effectively be your equivalent of the Lenovo-provided Q partition content, although you wouldn't need Q if you had to restore the Macrium "system image" backup.  And then you'd just establish a weekly regime of further "system image" backups using Macrium, as your ongoing regular protection from a loss of Windows integrity which required some kind of restore to a prior working system.  In this case it would be no older than last week's backup.
If you needed more current protection, just take more frequent "system image" backups (if you only have a C partition), or add a second backup tool like NovaBACKUP to take monthly/daily "data" backups (also to the external USB 3.0 drive).
==> You don't have "too many partitions".  But the above description explains why you have what you have, and confirms that you can blow away Q if you have an alternative and superior backup/recovery method (such as Macrium Reflect) in case of a disaster.

What were you doing when you received the message?
I have seen reports on these forums where there is a limit to how many contacts you can have in the "to" field of a text message. That is the only thing I can think of where someone has reported getting a warning about too many contacts.

  • Does having too many apps (like more than 100) affect the iPod Touch 5g's battery

So with today being the App Store's 5 year anniversary, there are a LOT of top notch apps becoming free, which I have wanted.
However this worries me - can having too many apps downloaded affect my iPod Touch 5g's performance & battery life?
    Extra Details:
iPod Touch 5g 32gb, just got it two days ago.
iI already have over 70 apps

I say they will only adversely effect performance and battery life if the apps do things when the apps are completely shut down. By shutdown I mean the app are not in the recently used row when yo double click the Homne button. By doing something I mean that sme apps are always checking for things like when you get a notification.

  • Aggregate tables have many partitions per request

We are having some performance issues dealing with aggregate tables and
Db partitions. We are on BW3.5 Sp15 and use Oracle DB 9.2.06. After
some analysis, we can see that for many of our aggregates, there are
sometimes as much as a hundred partitions in the aggregates fact table.
If we look at infocube itself, there are only a few requests (for
example, 10). However, we do often delete and reload requests
frequently. We understood that there should only be one partition per
request in the aggregate (infocube is NOT set up for partitioning by
    other than request).
We suspect the high number of partitions is causing come performance
issues. But we don;t understand why they are being created.
I have even tried deleting the aggregate (all aggregate F tables and
partitions were dropped) and reloading, and we still see many many more
partitions than requests. (we also notice that many of the partitions
have a very low record count - many less than 10 records in partition).
We'd like to understand what is causing this. Could line item
dimensions or high cardinality play a role?
    On a related topic-
We also have seen an awful lot of empty partitions in both the infocube
fast table and the aggregate fact table. I understand this is probably
caused by the frequent deletion and reload of requests, but I am
surprised that the system does not do a better job of cleaning up these
empty partitions automatically. (We are aware of program
    SAP_DROP_EMPTY_FPARTITIONS).
I am including some files which show these issues via screen shots and
partition displays to help illustrate the issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ideally the aggregates should get compressed by themselves - there could be some change runs that have affected the compression.
    Check the following :
    1. See if compressing the cube and rolling up the aggregates will merge the partitions.
    2. What is the delta mode for the aggregates ( are you loading deltas for aggregates or full loads ) ?
    3. Aggregates are partitioned according to the infocube and since you are partitioning according to the requests - the same is being done on the aggregates.
Select another partitioning characteristic if possible. - because it is ideally recommended that request should not be used for partitioning.

  • Having too many idle sessions?

    Hi,
We have too many idle sessions at the database end? How can it be controlled apart from using database resource manager? Since some users execute long operations? Please clarify.
    Thank you,
    Adith

Having 5 of 60 sessions active is entirely reasonable. A session is ACTIVE only if, in that particular instant, the session is actively running a SQL statement. The vast majority of the time, a database connection will be idle as it waits for a user to decide what to do next, for the client application to process the data that was returned, etc.
If you're not encountering any problems, I wouldn't change anything. Setting IDLE_TIME in a profile will kill connections after a period of time, but that may cause problems for users & applications which are not designed to expect that their database connection can be terminated while they were using it.

  • V570 - Has too many partitions - Can I nuke one? I need a separate Data Partition!

    Hi,
I convinced a Buddy to buy a V570 two days ago. (I've used a Lenovo Laptop for work for a year, and it's been rock solid.) The box was delivered to his house a few hours ago. He lit it up and put his name on it, and then brought it to me, as I help his family out with their computers. (Our Wives are best friends.) I'm a bit geeky and usually know my way around these boxes. But I'm a little stumped on this one.
Normally on laptops they come with tons of bloatware, and it's usually faster to go up to the OEM's site, download all the latest drivers and  utilities, then back up the original image before blowing it away, and installing a fresh Windows OS. One of the other main issues is most lappys have one big partition for the OS and Data. So if you get a Trojan or virus => it can nuke all of it. So I always divide the drive, and have a Data partition, so you don't lose everything if (when) something nasty occurs.
But in this case the Box really doesn't have too much bloatware, so I thought make the Factory backup disks, then uninstall the few unwanted programs, partition the C Drive, and create a Data drive in that space. I didn't even look at the hidden partitions so when I went to Create the Data partition I was warned Windows 7 64 Pro doesn't support more than 4 partitions on the operating system drive! If I go into Disk Management I see the typical small Win7 recovery 200 MB partition, a 654 GB C  partition, a empty (?) 29 Gig Lenovo partition, and a 14.75 OEM partition. I'm used to the first 2 partitions but what's the rational for the last two from lenovo? One is the "factory" image, and I assume it's the OEM partition, so what's the Lenovo partition for? Can I shrink C, and enlarge the Lenovo partition, so it can become the Data Drive =>  without affecting the lenovo drives function?
I thought I may have to go with the new Windows install but I can find all the drivers /utilities software at the Lenovo Sites. So I'm a bit stumped and would appreciate your help.
    Thanks for the assist.
    Regards,
    -Jim-

    Jim,
         In one word, no.
I would strongly advise you to just leave it alone, unless you want to spend hours on the phone to your friend, trying to fix all the problems your friend will encounter, with his "new" modded system.
Please, I'm not trying to be nasty, or unkind. Those 4 partitions are the key to Lenovo's One Key Recovery. Lenovo has spent a lot of time, and engineering to make their systems as user friendly, and trouble free as possible. They built in the Enhanced Experience 2.0, and customized the Windows 7 software for fast booting. Just because you "can"  repartition the drive, doesn't mean you "should".
These forums are filled with users who messed around with their drive structure, used a modded BIOS, or just plain screwed up their programs and hardware, just because they "could". Then they want some urgent help for their machines that went wacky. The moderators on these sites have a hard enough job, keeping track of the various systems "as shipped", to do any troubleshooting on those systems that the user has repositioned the drive, or deleted the programs that Lenovo has included for recovery.
As you've said, there's not a lot of bloatware on Lenovo's machines. You shouldn't have to reload a "fresh Window OS". If you do, some of the Lenovo's Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Win 7, and some other functions will be toast. That's why you don't see all of the Windows drivers on their site. Lenovo only includes the drivers that have been modified for your V570. Stick with them.
So, in the end, yeah you can mess with the partitions, but you shouldn't. See this thread to know what you are getting in to, and be ready for your friend's late night phone calls.

  • Does having too many project effect FCPX performance?

    I have 100 - 150 projects
    Selecting a project takes about 5 - 10 seconds
Dragging into folder takes a similar time
Does having that number of projects effect the performance?
When loading up, it reads all project names and checks links (I think)
So I'm guessing there HAS to be some sort of performance hit?
    Thanks

    james, thanks for the reply
currently i'm working off the hard drive on my macbook pro
the 'events' what are these? are they simply pointers to where the media is stored?
similar with 'projects' - assuming there are a few more parameters stored for specific settings?
apart from rendering files, these files all should be light weight?
i read that link u gave. i'm now going to move events and project folders as mentioned
Event Manager X: is it worth getting?
i read the reviews. it doesnt say whether or not u can specify where the files are hidden to - lets say you want to keep on the current drive - or maybe move to an external drive
some reviews have complained about the lack of response from buyers - doesnt sound too good
EDIT: i've moved events and projects. i closed fcpx and then started again. the event and project names are still there
    what am i doing wrong?
EDIT: lets say i move events called abc. let's say i have a projects folder called xyz which used media in abc. i move xyz this as well
12 months, i need abc and xyz - but i've forgetton how they are connected and i have 100's of project files and events i have taken offline
    what happens then?

  • Can having too many emails stored in Mail cause problems?

I've got over 3,800 emails in my inbox and I sometimes have problems with Mail not starting. My mail is stored in iCloud (so I can access them across all my Apple devices) but I also have a lot of old emails just stored on my Mac.
Should I just archive old important emails on my Mac as well as deleting unwanted emails? Will that improve the performance of Mail? Would having a lot of old emails just stored on my Mac affect the performance of Mail on my Mac?

  • How to improve performance of rendering page having too many html controls

I am really not sure whether this is coorrect forum I have choosen but because I m using XSL to create html part I have choosen this.
Question is: I want to show/display around 3450 input fields(textBoxes) and 650 buttons(which have some functionality to do).
These no's are not always fix but keep on changing depending on days in month. So I have written logic to create these textBoxes and Buttons in loop in the xsl using same html tags we always use..
Because of so many html components it takes 1 to 1.5 min to display page so this has marked as performance issue. So is there any way by which I can show this page within secords? Thanks in adv.

we have to show all at a time as ir is business conditionThen live with it and/or report back that it's a stupid requirement.
The larger the generated output is, the more time it needs to be transferred completely over network. That's nothing more than obvious. You can at highest upgrade the network speed and/or reduce the output size by trimming whitespace and/or using GZIP. Maybe ajaxical techniques in data loading will help, but it won't reduce the total loading time, it will only improve the user experience.

  • Too many partitions

I have a connected firewire disc with five partitions, and all of them mount at startup even though I am only using one of them to boot. Is there a way to prevent some of these partitions from mounting at startup. I vaguely remember that an old version of disc utility had this feature, but I can't find it now.
Perhaps something might be done with Terminal? All the unused partitions kind of clutter the finder windows.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I looked into this once and found it was quite difficult to do.
I ended up writing this applescript:
do shell script "diskutil unmount \"/Volumes/VolumeName\""
...saving it as an application, and then making it a login item. Both my drives would mount at login, but after 20 seconds or so the unwanted one would be automatically unmounted.
If it's only desktop clutter that's bothering you, there's a Finder preference to hide volume icons from the Desktop.

    Hi!
I deleted a number of apps and the freezing doesn't seem as bad.
Would the apps also apply to having the iPod turn itself off?

    Never mind...
Before replacing my iPod Touch, I was told that it was most likely the cause.

  • I have top sites as my place from which I log on saves having too many buttons on the tool bar - I have now got four rows of 7 can I put more if so how -

I am not good at organizing - I have on my Top sites - which I see when I create a new Tab
Is four rows of seven the limit - or can I add another row - it there actually a limit - sorry I am not good at this
Hoping someone can be pleased to assist

I don't know whether there is a limit, but 5x7 seems to work if I try that. What I did was modify the number of rows and columns this way:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtabpage.rows''' preference and change from 3 to 5, then click OK.
    (4) Double-click the '''browser.newtabpage.columns''' preference and change from 3 to 7, then click OK.
You should be able to verify the results immediately by pressing Ctrl+t or clicking the new tab ("+") button. How does it look?
