Air and cs5 and template

Hello,
I'm trying to develop applications for Android.
1) I have the version of Flash included in Cs5 with solme litle examples of air, I need to download something else or air is already full?
2) there are some examples, on the web, of applications free to download from the net? I'm interested in examples with particular reference to the use of sound.
Thank you!

The namespace error is almost always the version of AIR that the apps XML indicates is wrong. The second line in your apps XML file is:
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/4.0">
I use AIR SDK 4.0 downloaded from here:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
If I changed that number to anything other than the same version of the SDK I'm using then I will get that error. Chances are you might be using an old template that points to the wrong SDK version.
If you don't have 4.0, you should download it from the link above and use it.
As for tutorials on creating mobile apps in general with AIR, there are tons of resources out here. You can start the basics here:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WSfffb011ac560372f-5d0f4f25128cc9cd0cb-8000.html
And some videos:
http://tv.adobe.com/show/mobile-applications-101/
Ultimately other external resources like lynda.com can really help you.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to post those.
If you want to get serious about development you'll want to consider Flash Builder as a coder. It's an eclipse-based product that is much more developer-oriented. You can build pure ActionScript apps or you can tap into Apache (formerly Adobe) Flex, which is an entirely different component-based way to build apps. Flash Pro and Flash Builder can work together nicely to build a quality app. Building entirely in Flash Pro is possible however.
You can also try to FDT plugin and use eclipse for an alternate to Flash Builder.

  • Photoshop cs4 and cs5 and after effects 7.0

    Hello my name is mel
    My question ! I'm working with photoshop cs4 and after effects 7.0 building a web page and this going to be my first page . I got the header in and the footer also,
    the main body is going to be this avi file. after effect project that I want to run when the page opens. I want to slice up and send to DW for coding . my question is how do you slice this page up and transport it to DW.cs5 and do you have to code the avi in html and css to run when the page is open. Because as now when you run the avi in photoshop nothing elese on the page works , just the avi runs when you turn off the avi then every thing is back normal .to run the avi you have go to the video part of psd and click on the start button . any idea or any suggestion how to proceded would help
    thanks

    we were told in design school to use ps to design your site   then transport to DW to code??
    Maybe I misunderstood you.... You do the graphics in PS, that's of course what everyone does and then you code in DW, but by all means, you do not operate on the atrocious code Save for Web would spit out from PS. Trying to fix it is more trouble than starting with a blank page in DW and inserting the background and otehr images manually. And you definitely misunderstand "animation" vs. "video" After Effects is just a means to turn animation into video just as Flash is a means of creating dynamically rendered animation or interactive content. Both have their uses, but without knowing what kind of animation or video you actually need to produce, this is going nowhere. It may turn out that all you need is an animated GIF, after all... Furthermore your AE 7 is dated and does not output good H.264 or FLV directly compared to more recent versions, so this opens up yet anotehr can of worms when it comes to producing good quality web video at small file sizes... In any case, you still require a lot of reading. Too complex a topic for which nobody can provide a tippy-toe tutorial and without understanding even some basic concepts, the most beautifully designed PS grafik will end up being nothing more than a useless lump of pixels on a web server...

  • Lightroom and CS5 and Aperture Workflow?

    I am trying to put the finishing touches on a year and a half long port to mac from windows. My expectation is that I will be purchasing CS5 (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and I was hoping there would be a user or two on the forum that may be able to just advise me as to whether I am moving in the correct direction. Also, I was hoping to get a heads up on how Lightroom might fit into the following proposed workflow. Here is what I am anticipating:
    1. Export necessary images from Aperture into folder named "Aperture" with sub-folders by project name.
    2. "Photoshop" folder (with project sub-folders) for any edited images, transparency overlays, etc.
    3. "Illustrator" folder (with project sub-folders) for any vector editing of images and/or individual vector files
    4. "InDesign" folder (with project sub-folders) for ID posterboards, publications etc that reference files in Photoshop and/or Illustrator folders.
    5. "Keynote" folder (with project sub-folders) for presentation that reference files in Photoshop and/or Illustrator folders.
    6. "Uploads" folder for any images uploaded to ftp that cannot be done from within the Aperture interface.
    Does anyone know if this looks about right, how Lightroom might fit into this workflow and/or whether there is a way to streamline this in any way?
    In the past I've tended to be very reliant on dragging and dropping and copying images images across my hard drive for access and organization in various projects (web media, proposals, publication, papers, etc, etc) but as I start working in Aperture I can obviously see the benefits of keeping a lot of this data within Aperture. That said, some of this workflow is a bit hard to anticipate and I'd also like to know what I need to buy to get it optimized.
    TIA for any suggestions or help.

    Lightroom and Aperture serve identical purposes.  There is no reason to use both.
    Since they serve identical purposes, at least at the macro-planning stages, you can substitute one for the other in any workflow.
    There is nothing in your proposed workflow that I would recommend.

  • Lightroom 4 (and CS5) and FFF Files

    I'm working on Mac with Lion.
    I've taken a series (thousands) of tethered picture with Phocus in multi shot mode (4 shot) with a H4D-50.
    The strange thing is that Lightroom is bundled with the camera but can't see the files! Trying to import there's no file available.
    CS5 can open the file, but not in Camera Raw... Why?
    I need to open FFF multi shot file with ACR (either LR or PS). Any solution?
    Thanks,

    FFF is not fullt supported by Lr or Camera Raw. See response in linked thread from Camera Raw forum.

  • Installation/uninstall issues between CS4 and CS5

    I had CS4 installed. I purchased CS5 (downloaded it) installed that.  When I got the disks via mail, I tried to install that version (disk version).  I started having issues as to which program would open a .prproj file.  Often the CS4 version of Premiere Pro opened.  Not what I wanted.  I eventually uninstalled CS5 entirely and then reinstalled.  Then things were working fine.  However, I then tried to uninstall CS4.  (I have seen from numerous posts/comments to leave both on -- which I really don't know why.  Doesn't make sense to keep both versions).  I prefer not to have an extra 4GB of space used for programs I am no longer using.  However, in doing so, the uninstall didn't appear to do a perfect job.  And now I can't double-click a .prproj file.  This icon is also blank white.  I went into Set Associations and I can't assign .prproj to Premiere CS5.  In looking at the Open With window, I notice that some of the icons for other Adobe programs are all splewy (Adobe Encore is using the CS4 icon, Adobe Illustrator is using the PDF icon, Flash Catalyst is using the Air icon, etc.)
    I could: a) uninstall everything, including Adobe Acrobat Pro (which I had purchased and installed prior to CS4 or CS5) and then reinstall everything -- sheesh that would take a while; or b) I could ask my friends here to explain and guide me!

    Hi Stix, Thanks.
    I am not so positive that there is no difference between the download version vs the media version specifcially because in downloading the updates, the site demands you choose your update depending on how your software was installed.  I figured that the download would be smaller.  Perhaps you are right. And maybe it is the same, in either case, when I get a stack of disks, I tend to think there is more on the disk and the download version is merely the core applications.
    Anyway, I had to uninstall everything CS4 and CS5 and then reinstall CS5.  Oddly, this didn't automatically fix my problem.  However, at least I was able to choose Premiere CS5 to open .prproj files and check off the box to use it as the default. (I wasn't able to before).  So now it works!

  • Printing problem in cs5 and imac 27

    I have been running my Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on a macbook pro and cs3, for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. I have now upgraded to a new iMac 27"and have had nothing but problems with the 4800. I have made my own profils and used Epson paper profiles but the prints are not as colourful as they used and totally wrong as well. I am also getting totally oversized prints compared to what image seize in ps is set to be.....for example, I have been doing a 10x21 test picture on Premium Lustre paper (photoshop is managing the colours through CS5, but it is printing the image at least 1,5 the size that it should be. All my settings are correct, dpi is 300, I'm printing at 1440dpi resolution on the correct profiles for the paper. I am at a loss to understand why this is happening. Is anyone able to assist me?
    I can do the printing in preview  and that is looking quite ok. But trough photoshop it is bad colors and wrong size on the print.
    Regards Ulfja

    I saw you're having a printing problem with CS5 while using an Epson printer. I'm having a problem too. Read my situation and see if you think it's similiar to yours. I posted this about an hour ago but have not heard from anyone yet.
    I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
    If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
    I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27.  I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
    I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know!
    I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. The colors I'm getting in my prints from CS5 seem to be alright, but not the positioning on paper. It keeps offsetting and running a black stripe down one side. Fortunately I have CS4 on my computer that I can use to print from, but it shouldn't be this way.
    Good luck!

  • CS3 script runs slow with CS4 and CS5

    I have written a table transformation script for InDesign CS3, which formats an imported Excel table.
    With InDesign CS3 the script runs well. Now I tried the same script with InDesign CS4 and CS5 and it runs very slow. It's about 10 times slower than with CS3.
    I tried to turn off redrawing, but this didn't help. It even got slower again!
    Does someone has made similar experiences? Could you solve the performance issue?
    Do scripts in CS4/CS5 generally run slower than in CS3?
    Does CS4 differ so much to CS3 that the script runs 10 times slower?
    What can I do to improve the execution performance?
    Thanks for any tips / advices etc.

    I now have made some tests with profile / timing. Here are the results.
    you find the code snipped below. It iterates first over all rows and then over all cells inside of the row. In the cell iteration, the function hasGapInLineBelow(...) does more iterations.
    The example is with a table of 42 rows and 9 cells.
    I have compared CS3 and CS5
    there are 3 test cases:
    for 1/1 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 1 (statements for first row and first cell done)
    for 1/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 9 (statements for first row and all 9 cells of the row done)
    for 2/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 2 and second for loop is in iteration 2 (statements for second row and all 9 cells of the row done)
    it's strange that normal variable assignments take lot of time (like the statement startPos = indexLeftNeightbourOfCurrentCell;) -> I don't understand why this can be so time consuming!?!
    it's also strange why in "for 1/9" and "for 2/9" variable assignments take much longer than in "for 1/1"...
    could I use another data type than array for the variable isMergedRow? Which one?
    do you know any performance optimizations?
    in which time unit ExtendScript Toolkit shows the measured periods?
    how are the times calculated in loops? Are these the times sumed up over all iterations or is it just the time for a single statement?

    P.s. I'm new at using this forum, and though I thought I sent this out once already, I never saw it posted. If I'm in error and it's already out there, sorry for the mistake and posting it twice.

    >"Unfortunately then I'd have to say all bets are off. The only true test is to print with the standard materials that Epson has designed their printer for. Only if that works well should you be trying third-party materials. For example, third-party inks in general are of poorer quality, are inconsistent, clog more, and in the long run, do not save you anywhere the amount of money they advertise over the genuine Epson products."
    Getting very nice results with an R1800, Inkjetfly CIS, and Red River paper. The R1800 has never had Epson ink run through it and has no abnormal clogging problems. In fact, clogs are rare.
    Getting near perfect matches to the monitor with both Colorvision and x-rite calibrating/profiling equipment. The printer stays on 24-7 so the only ink used, other than printing, is a periodic nozzle check. I am not alone in this, so blanket statements like the above are specious at best.
    And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.
    Of course the cheap refilled/knockoff carts being hawked on ebay and the like are a different story.

  • Problems with CS5 and font check Function

    There is a function that I have been using that works from cs to cs4 now with cs5 it does not error it just doesn't find all the missing fonts. If anyone is willing to take a crack at this it would be very helpful. Here is the function:
    function myCheckFont(currFile){
        numMissingFonts=0;
        docFonts=app.activeDocument.fonts.everyItem().name;
        appFonts=app.fonts.everyItem().name.join('');
        var numFont = myDocument.fonts.length;
        myFile.write("MISSING FONTS: ");
        for (var loopvar=0; loopvar<docFonts.length; loopvar++){
                if (appFonts.match(RegExp(docFonts[loopvar]))==null){
                    if (myDocument.fonts.item(loopvar).status=="1718832705"){
                        if (numMissingFonts==0){
                            myFile.write(docFonts[loopvar]);
                            numMissingFonts=numMissingFonts+1;
                        else{
                            myFile.write(", "+docFonts[loopvar]);
                            numMissingFonts=numMissingFonts+1;
        if (numMissingFonts==0)
            myFile.write("none");
        myFile.writeln("");
        return [numMissingFonts];

    Hi
    I run this script to same documents both CS4 and CS5,
    and insert the snippet to check status.

  • Flash CS5 and updating to flash 10.3 and AIR 2.7

    Hi, I have a simple question, but for the life of me I can't work out how to solve it.
    I'm currently running Adobe Flash Professional CS5, and would like to update it to utilize some of the features in AIR 2.7 and Flash 10.3 / Flash 10.2. How do I do this?
    I encountered a similar problem a ways back when AIR 2 was being released, and I had to resort to ultimately "overlay" the existing installations. I've looked around and found some similar third party resources pertaining to the latest updates, but I've failed to get them to work - some instructions for adding in 10.3 as a build target compile, but they don't seem to be running in 10.3, or the debug player is not running in 10.3.
    Am I missing something really obvious? I'd think that when a major release is made, it should be straightforward to update your version of CSx to target that release, but it's anything but. I found the release notes for Flash 10.3(http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/901/cpsid_90194.html#main_authoring), and under authoring it says:
    "Developers can access new APIs in the Flash Player 10.3 by making manual changes to their existing SDK/tooling configuration. To learn more about the new APIs, read the online ActionScript 3 reference documentation. Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5, Flash Builder 4.5, and Flex SDK 4.5 will not be updated for the new runtime."
    Where can I find the manual changes required? And why do these releases require manual overlaying anyway?

    Thanks for the reply.
    After alot of messing around I managed to get Flash professional to have 10.3 as a target, and also managed to get a 10.3 version of the debugger to run when you select Debug Movie(Running Test Movie, which is what I usually do, still uses the original 10.1 player, and I can't find out how to update it). I'm not sure if it's buggy or I've done it wrong, because when targeting it to 10.3 and running my application through the 10.3 debugger, I seem to be loosing frame labels in some of my movie clips, getting an error:
    ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label off not found in scene off
    This is odd, because
    a) I don't get said error when running with Test Movie which uses a 10.1 version of the player, and I never had it before with other versions. The symbol triggering the error clearly has a frame labeled off
    b) There is no scene off in my project, I only have one scene which was the default, and it's called Scene 1.
    Doing some traces, it turns out that the object is not having it's frame labels read in the 10.3 player, which is very odd and indicates to me some kind of bug or incorrect installation, but since I get the exact same error running it under the 10.3 projector, I'm inclined to think bug .
    With regards to AIR 2.7, why do we need CS5.5 to use it?

  • AIR update and CS5 Help Application

    Okay, question mostly answered, see below
    Using the CS5 Adobe Community Help application, to post this question, for example, seems slow. Since Help uses AIR, I am wondering if updating to AIR 2.0 would speed that up (CS5 installed AIR 1.0 on the system). However, I would think that the Creative Suite would have automatically updated to AIR 2 if it were compatible. This doesn't seem to have happened, even more than two weeks after installing CS5 (AIR is supposed to autoupdate every two weeks). The questions I have are:
    1. Is the Help app. I received compatible with AIR 2? According to documentation, Help 3.3 is supposed to use AIR 2, but as above, AIR 2 did not deploy. Could there be different versions of Help 3.3 for AIR 1 and AIR 2?
    2. Can I manually update to AIR 2 simply by downloading the application from the Adobe website, or are there compatibility issues with AIR 1-based and AIR-2 based applications, or with the software updating?
    3. Is there a way to force AIR 1 to update itself to AIR 2, or does the automatic update not consider that an update but an upgrade? AIR 2 supposedly has an update manager helper app. available, but not AIR 1, as far as I can tell.
    It seems like my copy of CS5 sat on the shelf for awhile.
    Thank you for any insights that can be given here.
    Okay, the version of AIR is found in a plist file, and does not correspond to the "Version" folder in the Framework folder for the application. According to that, my version is all up-to-date.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407625.html
    The software version can also be viewed using System Profiler in Utilities. AIR will be listed under the Frameworks.
    Incidentally, the Adobe Application Manager updating application lists the AIR version as 1.5.3 in its inventory, and not the version according to the Framework folder. Maybe someone could chime in on why that would be. Did the older version of AIR use AAM for updating, while the newer version has a separate utility?

    Mac OSX 10.5.8
    Installed the whole CS5 Production Premium Suite, licensed version. Machine also has CS4 Production Premium. After installing, I went into PPro CS5, loaded a CS4 project, scrubbed the time line a few times, rendered it, did a capture via FireWire from my HDV camcorder, tried out "Scene Detect", swore about on screen-preview still not available on the Mac (why?????), and then went into the Help function to lookup HDV capture. The first time I got the message about the help file update, I ignored it. The second time, I tried to run it and got the error.
    Hope this helps.

  • CS5 and Adobe AIR issue wih Help file

    Photoshop and other CS5 apps; Mac Pro OS 10.6.5 -- everything up to date.  Trying to use Help, Adobe AIR says installation is damaged.  It apparently means the Help file, as AIR updates and installs OK.  Same configuration on my Macbook Pro and Help works there.  I copied the Help file from the laptop but still get the message.
    So I'm trying to re-install the Help file -- I found the download but when I run it, it says the installer file is damaged.  Where do I find that to download?
    Thanks!

    Hi Diane,
    Sorry for the trouble you are having, and thanks for letting us know. The steps below should get you up and running (and update you to the latest Community Help AIR app which has some new features and improved functionality.
    Uninstall the previous version of  Adobe Help by removing and trashing the application from the Applications > Adobe  folder
    Delete the following directory:  /Users/username/Library/Preferences/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
    IMPORTANT:  Empty the Trash or Recycling Band to ensure proper removal of all files
    Manually update the application at: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/
    The above solution is also available as Technical Support document here:http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84215.html
    I hope this helps,

  • Problem opening PSD templates at times in CS5 and CS6

    I have had a problem with opening some PSD template files.  It doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't happen with every template.  All of the templates were downloaded as zip files and opened and saved using Photoshop CS 5 on a Windows XP PC.  When this happens I am getting an error message to the effect that the file can't be opened as it was done in a different version of PS.  When the files were saved, they were saved as PSD files and the compatibility check box is always checked.  The thing is, sometimes the file will open and sometimes the same one won't.  It is frustrating when it happens as there is no rhyme or reason as to when or why it happens.   Would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and if so, would like to know if they have found a reason for this seeming glitch.

    As far as I know Photoshop can not open Zip files.  If you unzip the zip archive and it contained PSD files.  How do you know they were all saved on a XP system with Photoshop CS5 with max compatibility.  The message you getting seem to be contradicting that.

  • CS5 and the slideshow template

    I just upgraded from Flash CS4 to CS5 and have discovered that the slide show template is no longer supported.
    Does anyone know if flash slideshows will be supported in upcoming versions of the Flash player or will they be discontinued?

    Thanks for the ideas!
    When I try to open a CS4 fla containing a slideshow with CS5 it gives an error message "Slides and Forms documents are not supported in this version of Flash. Please open in a previous version."
    I called Adobe support and was told I would have to reauthor the slide show as a frame based app. After working for several years creating slide based flash presentations this is not good news.
    I guess my fear now is that if they dropped support for slides and forms in CS5 will they drop support for them in newer versions of Flash player as well. Yikes! That would sink me for sure.

  • Version discrepancies in Flash CS5 and Catalyst CS5

    A few month ago using ADL compiling for mobiles I noticed that the versions of ADL and AIR differed
    in Flash CS5 and Catalyst. This caused me problems until I discovered it.
    Package/version                       adl.exe              air.dll
    Adobe Flash CS5                      2.0.1.12090       2.0.1.12090
    Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5         1.5.3.9120         2.6.0.19120
    I have seen the symptoms of this in other forums on the Internet.
    No change even though I have updated the packages (last update of Flash came 2011-07-02).

    The forums are not the place to post bugs/wishlist items.... Adobe rarely visits here.  Use the link below, though it is probably too late for CS6 since CS6 appears to be on the verge of release - you can probably get a trial version of it and see for yourself.
