Air FileReference.data

How do I retrieve the data bytearray from a FileReference once it has been downloaded?  Everywhere I look online about this simply states that in a web browser this data is not accessible because it's a security issue, but in Air this is not an issue.  None of the places I've found that though have then proceeded to explain how to retrieve the FileReference.data information.
Here's my workflow:
--User selects attachment to download
--FileReference runs it's download() function and prompts with a native air save dialog box
--FileReference downloads the file and executes it's Event.COMPLETE listener, which calls my downloadComplete(Event) function
--At this point inside the downloadComplete function I cannot grab the fileReference's data parameter because it's null, and the event.target.data value is also null
What I'm trying to do with the bytearray data is then use FileStream to write a temp file out, then use the File class to execute the file with it's default application after the user clicks 'Open'.  Does anyone have any idea about how to actually grab the bytearray information though?

scratch all that, I figured out that the File class has the same functionality that I needed as the FileReference class, switched types and I was good to go.

  • MAC BOOK AIR Unusual Data Consumption by Mountain Lion OS

    Hi,
    I am using MAC Book Air and my OS is upgarded to Mountain Lion. After upgradation I am facing a problem of data consumption by my MAC all the time from my wifi modem, even without opening any brpwser or Mail. Kindly provide solution for this proble. Please note that all the settings in icloud is off.
    Regards,
    Desikachary

    this never happened to Windows unless you have a virus , So is this normal for a Mac ?
    It certainly can be. Free RAM is wasted RAM. Inactive RAM is as good as free RAM (it can and will be freed immediately when needed), but can be used to speed up your machine by holding cached data. As an example, suppose you quit Mail. Perhaps it was accidental (command-W is right next to command-Q), or perhaps you forgot to look at something you meant to look at, but in any event, you re-open Mail. It should pop back open very quickly, because everything is still cached in RAM.
    So, in other words, don't worry about it. Even if you were having a problem, the source would be elsewhere.

  • Target mode for Macbook Air?  Data recovery effort underway

    Hello,
    I took my daughters' Macbook Air into the Apple Store for the hinge replacement, they shipped it off for repair, and some idiot at the Apple repair Depot did a clean OS X install for absolutely NO reason.
    I want to access the hard drive as an external drive and run Data Rescue on it to try to recover some of her files.
    Any ideas?
    Is there a target disk mode like feature via USB, for the Macbook Air?
    Message was edited by: cfmsp

    AFAIK, there is no USB target disk mode. Only available on Firewire equipped Macs. Sorry, not the answer you wanted to hear, but the unfortunate reality is that what you've experienced is the reason why "everyone is always told" to backup, backup, and backup.
    If you still want to try doing a low level recovery, you'll have to remove the hard drive and attach it with some adapter to another computer.
    Going forward, you'll want to purchase an external hard drive for Time Machine backups. (Or purchase a Time Capsule or configure another Leopard or Snow Leopard Mac as a Time Machine destination.) I have a separate Mac as a Time Machine destination so Time Machine backs up automatically whenever I'm using my home Wi-Fi, which means backups are a no-brainer and has saved me several times in cases similar to what you've gone through. Every decent repair shop I've dealt with has a liability warning stating they are not responsible for data loss. So although it shouldn't have been necessary, sh...stuff happens.
    As I once read, "there are two kinds of computer users: those that have lost data, and those that will lose data."
    (edit: Again, not what you want to hear, but the [warranty|http://images.apple.com/legal/warranty/docs/cpuwarranty.pdf] does state:
    ...Before you deliver your product for warranty service it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the contents, and disable any security passwords. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CONTENTS OF YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE LOST OR REFORMATTED IN THE COURSE OF WARRANTY SERVICE, AND APPLE AND ITS AGENTS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF PROGRAMS, DATA OR OTHER INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THE MEDIA OR ANY PART OF THE PRODUCT SERVICED....
    The [Applecare Terms and Conditions|http://images.apple.com/legal/applecare/docs/NAAPP_Englishv5.2.pdf] have similar wording:

  • Air - Sqlite with Adobe Air insert data in memory, but do not record on the database file

    I have the code:
    var statement:SQLStatement = new SQLStatement();
    statement.addEventListener(SQLEvent.RESULT, insertResult);
    statement.addEventListener(SQLErrorEvent.ERROR, insertError);
    statement.sqlConnection = sqlConnection;
    statement.text = "insert into table values('"+TINome.text+"','"+TISerial.text+"') ";
    statement.execute();
    This run without error and the data is inserted (i dont know where), but when i see into database with firefox sqlite manager, the database is empty! But the Air continue run for a time like the data was recorded on the database file. I dont know what is happen with it.
    Help please!

    Toplink In Memory was developed by our project to solve this problem. It allows us to run our test either in memory or against the database.
    In memory, we basically stub out the database. This allows us to speed up our tests about 75x (In memory we run 7600 tests in 200 secs, it takes about 5 hours against the database). However, it throws away things like transactions, so you can't test things like rollback.
    In database mode, it just uses toplink, Another benefit of it though is that it watches all the objects created allowing an automatic cleanup of created test objects - keeping your database clean and preventing test interactions.
    We used HSQL running in memory previously, it worked fine. However, we needed to write scripts to translate our Oracle SQL into HSQL. Also, we had to override things like the data function in HSQL, and a few of our queries behaved unexpectedly in HSQL. We later abandoned it, as it became a lot of maintenance. It was about 10x faster than running against Oracle.
    Interestingly, we install oracle on all our developers machines too, tests run way faster locally, and developers feel way more comfortable experimenting with a local instance than with a shared instance.
    You can find the toplink in memory stuff at:
    http://toplink-in-mem.sourceforge.net/
    I provide all support for it. Doc is sketchy but I'm happy to guide you through stuff and help out where I can with it.

  • IPad Air Cellular Data Plan

    Got IPad Air as a gift. Cellular data plan is set to AT&T. I don't want AT&T, how do I remove and change it?

    Okay so I tried what Demo suggested and that didn't work so I gave up.  Also, I don't want to turn off my bluetooth because I use a bluetooth keyboard all the time.
    So I was really excited today when Apple released iOS 8.1.3 thinking that they would resolve this very annoying popup message that locks the whole iPad intil you click on "Later".  Well to my complete disappointment the message popped up as soon as I tried to use the iPad after updating to the new iOS.  It also popped up while I was typing this message.
    C'mon Apple, what is up with this total c**p?  Get rid of this message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just got a new MacBook Air -- Moving data over from the Time Capsule over WiFi??

    I just bought a new MacBook Air because my MacBook Pro 2008 died completely. I own a Time Capsule and it backed up regularly. I'd like to just move over all my data to my new 256GB MacBook Air, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the Time Capsule over WiFi? I had the Time Capsule set to backup over Ethernet. Does this mean I can only access my files vs. Ethernet? Does that mean I need a USB to Ethernet adapter?

    Backing up other Ethernet doesn't prevent access via Wi-Fi.
    If the Time Capsule creating a wireless network?  If not, you'll need to configure it to do so in order to allow the MBA to connect to it.  If it does, can you connect the MBA to the Time Capsule's network?
    Depending on the amount of data you want to transfer, using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter would help things run faster.

  • Flash Player / Air telemetry data ?

    Hello Adobe and Community
    What about to add a telemetry data function to Flash Player & Air similar to Mozilla's about:telemetry / metrics.mozilla.com  ?
    - OS / Version / Patch Level
    - CPU / GPU / RAM / Chipset / ...
    - Audio / Video / Chipset Drivers
    - Browser / Version / Settings
    - Flash Player Version / Settings
    - DirectX / OpenGL / ...
    - Display / Resolution / FPS / CPU&GPU load
    It should/could be added as an opt-in UI into the installers or on first use.
    Reason:
    To get better performance feedback from the "real world" to make it smoother on low end devices.

    Thanks for the suggestion.  The adoption of the Beta Channel over the last few months has been phenomenal, and we have a large enough population to do highly accurate sampling and A/B testing.
    We're actively designing and approach and corresponding infrastructure to gain new insight into Flash Player performance in the field.
    Best regards,

  • Air 2 data being used when in Air Plane Mode

    I have been going through a tremendous amount of data all of a sudden.   Yesterday I turned air plane mode on and just used WiFi and yet my data amount keeps increasing.   WHY?   It was very costly last month and will be again this coming month.   When I have it in Air Plane Mode I should not be using any data.
    Both the data usage on my iPad and on my account at Verizon keeps increasing even in Air Plane Mode.

    Did you look in settings > cellular to see which app is using the data?
    Double click on home button.  Quit all apps you do not need.

  • Connect Pdf Form with Air Sqllite data

    Hi, i would like to save my Pdf Form localy but i know about restrictions of 500 users (legal notes after giving advanced user permission).
    I thought about do it in air which could have my pdf form inside. I thought that people after filling form with data could save it localy by connecting PDF Form (embed in air) with Air database. So people could save it offline and fill rest form date f.e. after few days to complete it later.
    I don`t know any more option to save my form data localy (offline) without installing localhost database. Air installing is simple but i don`t know how should i start.
    Please tell me how can i connect my PDF Form with Air database?
    EDIT:Do you have any tutorials of that?

    I read also about JavaScript method of sending data from PDF form to AIR with using PostMessage (communicate throw JavaScript & HTML Object embed). Now i don`t know is there more easy way to communicate with SQL lite Air local database than using PostMessage command (more direct as setting up File>New Connection>OLEDB Database in Livecycle Designer)?

  • Set up iPad Air transferring data from iPad3 to Air

    I just ordered a new iPad Air 128GB with WiFi and Verizon. I have to turn the iPad 3 into Best Buy when it arrives as they gave me a good credit for my current 64GB wifi/verizon ipad3.
    Is there easy to transfer all my apps, photos , music, movies and cellular ID stuff  from my current iPad to the new iPad Air in the store next week or should I have the Geek Squad do it?
    Thanks!

    Don't sweat it*, IF set up properly, these 2 IDs (the one from your ISP and the one ending in iCloud  are linked.)
    But to be Safe:
    A) First, check your current iPad if iCloud lists the account with the @iCloud.com, Set up your iCloud Account on the new iPad using that.
    Then, after you've gone through initial settings:
    B) Open iTunes, look under "Store" menu to determine you "Store ID", it'll read  "View account (whoever@comcast .com)" or something else.
    ALTERNATELY on your old iPad select Settings>iTunes and App Store (your store ID is at the top)
    either way, enter this one under Settings > iTunes and App Store" on your new iPad
    That's it.
    *no matter where you buy your music, they all link to an email address (which can be an issue, if you ever start getting spammed.) I'm so paranoid I burn all my music as an audio CDs, so there's just no way to loose it completely due to DRM issues.
    Good Luck. I'm very jealous, just can't rationalize buying the Air, since I just got an iPad 4 last year.

  • Image source and FileReference.data dimmentions

    Hello!
    How can I get the dimmentions (Width and Height) for
    1. The source file of an Image component
    2. The File selected in a FileReference variable
    Thanks!

    In general, don't load large images via loadbytes and try not to load them
    at all.  Technologies like Scene7 help you match your source images to the
    screen resolution and lower bandwidth and improve performance.  Unless you
    are doing image editing, why bring over more pixels than you can see?

    What do i have to do?

    I solved the issue by getting rid of the creationCompleteHandler event handlers for the KPI charts. But, since I am just days into flex development, I would be indebted if someone could explain to me why that was creating problems.
