AIR Native Drag & Drop -- AIR app to Desktop

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to drag from AIR app to
dektop/MSWord. I found lots of sample for desktop to AIR app, but
not vice versa.
Is there any samples that I can have? How can I drag texts in
a text area to desktop/MSWord?
Thank you!!

Thanks for your answer.
i already tried something like this, but i still have
problems with getting the newly created entity dragged. how can I
position the new entity from my air app directly under the mouse
cursor? so far i didn't find any screen mouse position functions or
properties. If I use a fullscreen, always on top window with mostly
transparent parts, I can't capture the mouse position using
MOUSE_MOVE all the time. Besides, how can I change the focus from
my browser to my air app? I already tried calling
nativeWindow.orderToFront() and nativeWindow.activate(), but the
focus doesn't change when I click the entity in my flash page.
Maybe somebody knows an answer to this ...

    For reaching of the functionality

I should use a "native drag&drop" method in my the web-flash-application.
How to realise that in AS3, but not in AIR ?
P.S. Matter of life and death
P.P.S. so sorry for my english

standalone app on the desktop will work with nativedragdrop (using NativeDragManager & publish app into AIR) - i`m know it.

  • Did Mavericks remove ability to drag files and apps between desktops?

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and am trying to drag files and apps between desktops without the use of Mission Control. I used to be able to drag something to the edge of the screen, hold it for a split second and have it move over to that screen. This seems to no longer work in Mavericks. I wish Apple wouldn't remove the small things that makes OS X what it is. Now I am less productive because I cannot use this feature.

Apparently so. It looks like the only way to drag files between desktops is to use Mission Control, as evidenced by this Apple support document: "you can use drag and drop in combination with Mission Control to swiftly and easily move items among windows and workspaces." I have Mission Control set up as a hot corner, so I grab a file, drag it into the top right corner, drag it onto the other desktop, and then drop it in the destination window. It's not as easy as dragging to the edge of the sceen, but it's not too much more work.

  • Drag Drop a file on desktop to RDP

I don't understand. This is something you could have figured out yourself in two seconds of trying it out.

its the same concept. although, have you got Enhanced Session enabled on the VM, and you haven't stated which version of Windows Your Using, for the host and the VM. Alternatively you can use Copy-VMFile which interacts with the Hyper-V VMBus directly, so you can transfer files even if they are on a private Network Adapter, just make sure that the Guest Services is Enabled under the Integrated Services.

  • No longer able to drag & drop to desktop..

I was hoping someone here could help me.
My son thought he (we) would like to try a new finder type app.
I told him (after 2 days) that he could do this on "his computer" not mine.
Once he removed the application and put everything back in order.........
I no longer can drag & drop images to the desktop?!?
He has no clue and I am praying that someone with smarter skills than me can help me out.
    Thanks in advance

Move the com.apple.finder.plist file out of your users /Library/Preferences/ folder to the Desktop, OPTION-click & hold the Finder's Dock icon, select Relaunch, and see if that fixes the problem. If so, delete the moved file and reset your other Finder preferences. If you don't remember how you had things, check the Finder's preferences via Finder->Preferences. If this doesn't fix the issue, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists there.
Once you resolve the issue, ban your son from your computer.

  • AIR seems to install but won't install any AIR apps

I installed AIR on Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition, and it seems to install OK (no error messages).  But when I go to install an AIR app (Yammer desktop in this case) it will not install the app and I never see the installer come up.  This is a new computer that never had AIR on it.  First I went ot the Yammer site to load the app there, as I did on my XP computer.  The install started, but hung up.  I was at work, so I let it sit for a few hours, but it was still hung.  I then rebooted and tried to install using the offline installer.  It seemed to install, but won't install any AIR apps.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled AIR and Yammer but no change.  I also tried uninistalling using the MS FixIt utility, but no difference.  AIR seems installed but if I go to the Yammer web site, it tries to install AIR again.  Log below.

    Tom

    Hi Tom,
Would you be willing to do a desktop sharing session with me so I can take a look at what is happening with your system?  If so, please contact me at [email protected]  If you want to try something immediately, I'd recommend creating a new, temporary, user account and seeing if you can install Yammer there.  If so, log back into your normal account and try launching the installed Yammer app.
    Thanks,

  • Two part AIR apps

Im relitivley new to using AIR.
Currently using the latest Free SDK and our HTML/JS app.
Primary use for our app is to allow multi download/uploads into our web editor.
The profile is 'extendedDesktop' as we need to execute a desktop app from within.
The issue that we have is because we are going to use this app within our company we needed to package it as EXE due to the 'extendedDesktop' profile, users dont have admin privs so they cant install it. This can cause an issue when trying to roll our an update in realtime without having to MSI and roll it out with GPO or an admin person go around and install it.
I have thought of a diffrent way around this but dont know if it is possable.
Can one AIR app speak to another and pass params?
My idea behind this is we would create two AIR apps:
    - a 'Desktop Enabler' which is kept very very simple and installed by an admin, this would not realy change and only handles tasks that need the 'extendedDesktop' profile, this could take params from the main app and execute as required the desktop apps
    - the second would be the main app package, this would handle all the other tasks that dont need 'extendedDesktop', we could then install this as a .air package without admin privs localy in the user profile and update it as required.

Of course with different icons and interface, the new interface has a sliding separator style to show difference between edited and original photos. I meant I have the same issue as you.

  • Loading external swf into Air App

    Hi All,
I'm building an Adobe Air App for desktop and am having problems loading an external swf. Every time i try to load i get:
SecurityError: Error #2070: Security sandbox violation........ cannot access Stage owned by app....blah blah
The file that is being loaded is in a local directory, but as i understand its in a different 'sandbox' which is a security risk.
Is there any way around this?!
Any help would be much appreciated
    Many Thanks
    Matt

that's why i added those comments about the swf's domain.  for locally loaded swfs, use:

Hi Kglad, Thanks for the Example.
if i run my class with securityDomain = SecurityDomain.currentDomain; then it throws this error: SecurityError: Error #2142: Security sandbox violation: local SWF files cannot use the LoaderContext.securityDomain property.
The swf file im trying to load is stored locally so i guess this error makes sense. However if i comment out that line i get the same "cannot access Stage owned by app" error?

  • No drag & drop function? (iphone photos to mac desktop)

Trying to just backup my photos that i take on my iPhone..... why can't I drag & drop them to my desktop (like i do from my camera memory cards)? Do I have to use iTunes - because it's very time consuming... more than that, it's hard to keep track of what you've backup up...

That is not possible. You cannot drag photos from the computer back to the camera roll. You have no access to the camera roll in that direction, only from the camera roll to the computer. To put pictures back on the phone from the comptuer requires iTunes and the sync process. You can select the photos you want in iTunes once the iPhone is connected, then select the photo tab, select the photos and perform a sync.
You cannot do it without iTunes.

  • Drag&Drop & Windows 7

    Hi,
I'm testing Flex Builder (last release) on Windows 7 RC1, I have troubles with the native drag&drop functionality of an AIR application inside the development environment, the d&d doesn't works while testing the application with 'run' and 'debug' options inside the builder, d&d actually works if I deploy application and test it with the 'standard' AIR framework.... same code works on Vista and so on on the fly...
I have checked the forum and found another user having the same 'issue', perhaps some OS settings or security levels to grant to flex builder?
I know that W7 is not yet a RTM and is not supported so far, btw any suggestion is welcome.
    TY.

Did you try a clean boot?
And does this works in safe mode or only a problem in normal Windows Mode?

The answer to your question is Yes, I tried it in Safe Mode and it does NOT work there either.  (Please note that I made sure to say this in my OP, where I wrote: "The problem
DOES occur even in Clean Boot and Safe Mode!").

  • R6034 error Photoshop CS2 drag & drop

I've had this problem for some time.  I'm on Vista-64-SP2 running Photoshop-CS2 When first installed PS-CS2 worked fine. I got no errors when starting the program and I could drag & drop icons from the desktop or windows onto the Adobe taskbar icon and the photo would load normally.
Then I let Adobe automatically upgrade my CS2 and other Adobe products (Dreamweaver CS4, Illustrator CS2, GoLive6, Reader, Flash browser plug-in, etc.) and then I started getting a windows error message R6034 saying that "An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."  Microsoft says the fix is to recompile the application.  Yeah right!
OK, so I delete Photoshop and other applications and reinstall them all and the problem goes away ... until I let Adobe automatically update the products and the problem comes back.  Yes, I can probably live with an unupdated virgin version of Photoshop CS2 but there should be an answer from Adobe or at least someone else to validate that my complaint is not unique.
Another problem that may be related is that I've seemed to have lost the ability for Adobe GoLive6 to open Photoshop images for editing
Also I've lost the ability to drag & drop from the desktop or a window onto an open Photoshop application or onto its icon on the taskbar.
I've searched the web and find nothing similar.  The solutions I have found were unrelated to my situation or were for a Macintosh.  I've searched the forums here and find nothing that gives an answer.
I know pretty much what I'm doing around computers and I keep a clean system.  Informed replies are most appreciated.

I don't think you will have much luck on that one. The problem here clearly is the way 32bit DLLs need to be piped on 64bit systems, which for some reason does not seem to work in your case, probably due to soem registry key being changed and then it messes up the wghole OLE/ DDE/ COM shebang. It may be further complicated by some dispaly routiner incompatibility. Since CS2 was never developed with Vista 64 in mind, you can't even exactly blame someone and this seems a common problem with an assortment of legacy apps, not just Adobe programs. What you could try is to download Sysinternals' Process Monitor, establish a filter rule specific to the updater and see, which registry keys it changes, which DLLs it replaces etc. this may then offer some clues as to which ones you need to salvage before the update and may possibly put back into place thereafter. May work, may not, but in any case you are doing it on your own responsibility....

  • Drag&Drop from Browser to AIR App

    Hi there,
i wonder how it is possible to drag an element from a flash
page in my browser to an air app on my desktop. i've seen the
    showcase
of the nickelodeon jigsaw game on adobe.com, but the videos
    looks kind of post-processed.
do you have any tipps on how to enable flash/AIR
    drag&drop trespassing the browser borders?

    Thanks for your answer.
i already tried something like this, but i still have
problems with getting the newly created entity dragged. how can I

transparent parts, I can't capture the mouse position using
MOUSE_MOVE all the time. Besides, how can I change the focus from
my browser to my air app? I already tried calling
    nativeWindow.orderToFront() and nativeWindow.activate(), but the

  • Output xml file from data in a drag/drop AIR app.

I am interested in creating a WYSIWYG drag/drop AIR app. in
which I can drag art and other components, then export the (x,y)
positions of the components and other info into an xml file. I am
interested in using .ai files instead of raster based art. Will
Flex/AIR app. support this format? I am just starting to work with
Flash, Flex, etc. Is this way over my head? Possible?
    Thanks,
    Nate

I don't think you can manipulate .ai files in Flex /
    AIR.

  • Launch native air app(desktop) using URI scheme

Have a air application for handling files. Is it possible to launch using URI.
The same question has been asked on stack overflow without definite answer
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8956316/open-a-native-air-app-via-url

It does have half an answer. SWFs can request loading AIR applications so they suggested embedding a SWF on the page which would be able to launch your AIR application. Your link would need to fire off some JavaScript to use the ExternalInterface with the SWF to relay your request inside the SWF.
If you really want it on Windows for example then you'll need to register your URI, the example should be self explainatory:
