Air StageWebView html5 content vs native browser performance

I'm using StageWebView for displaying a html5 contents (a simple game) in AIR mobile app. On some devices with Android 4.4, Nexus 4 for ex., html5 in StageWebView has 10 FPS instead of 50-60 in mobile Google Chrome on same device! But StageWebView uses same Chrome version on device... It's a magic!
How it's possible? How to improve performance in StageWebView?

Did you ever figure this out?  I am seeing some poor scroll performance on the stagewebview with 4.4+ on Nexus 7 and 5.

  • AIR stageWebView ignores HTML5 Mobile Twitter Site ????

Found something strange.. wonder if anyone has any ideas on this.
    Working on an iPad app..
Last week when I would load in a users Twitter page with stageWebView It would load up the nice HTML5 version.
Now its loading that horrendous plain HTML version.
    Here's the strange part though.
I have an option in my app with many sharing options...   "Open In Safari" is one of them.
When you click on Open In Safari .. the exact same url is passed and launched with the native Safari Browser... and it loads up the HTML5 version.
Isn't the browser being used in stageWebView just the Safari browser ?   What's different ?
Does anyone know why it was working last week and not now ?     or how I can get it to work again ?
    Strange.......

Nah, the StageWebview has lots of problems. In the document, they say, StageWebView brings native browser no mantter which platform you use. That's actually a "Lie", because it lost some content control.
However, I don't know why your stage loaded the HTML5 pages correctly first, then fail.
Try whatever you can to make it work in Flex. Or just load the native extension of Objective-C UIWebView from AIR. Then you will be fine for-ever.

  • Adobe Air vs HTML5 vs Native in Mobile Development

Just now, I read an article "HTML5 vs. Native: What`s a Mobile Developer to Do?" (http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Application-Development/HTML5-vs-Native-Whats-a-Mobile-Developer- to-Do-648997/), and this make me think of Adobe AIR.
For those of you who have used Adobe AIR to develop mobile apps, how do you think about it's performance, features/functionality (API), and stability as compare with HTM5 done with phonegap?
Please share your experience and opinion here. Thanks.

  • How to auto update AIR runtime when installing with native installer?

Hi, we recently changed our app to a native installer for both Windows and OS X.
It seemed that when we distributed a .air file the install process would upgrade the installed version of the AIR runtime (if necessary) before installing our application.
Now it seems that if AIR is installed with an old version (say 2.5) and the native installer app is installed (requiring AIR 3.0) an error message appears that says "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author".
My question is how can we have our native installer bring the user's version of the AIR runtime to the minimum required (3.0) or the latest version (3.6)?
The error message displayed to the user does not provide meaningful info.
Thank you so much for your help with this!

Hi Chris, thank you for the response. I've spent quite a bit of time browsing the forum and you're sort of a celebrity to me ;-)
The "installer damaged" error message is happening on the first install of our application with older version of the AIR runtime.  The app is using the nativeapplicatoinupdater ( http://code.google.com/p/nativeapplicationupdater/ ) project for updates (which is working great once the app is installed).
I performed a few tests on OS X (10.8.2) this evening and here are my results.
AIR 1.5: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.04.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.5.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.6: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.7: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. APP INSTALL OK
So it seems the problem is with AIR 2.04 and 2.5. I uninstalled and reinstalled the AIR runtime for each test. I can consistently reproduce the failed install with 2.04 and 2.5. The same DMG file was used in each test.  I have seen similar error messages on Windows 7 when AIR 2.5 was installed, though I didn't get a chance to look at the log to confirm it's the same migration error.
The failed installs seem to drop out because of: "failed while validating native package: Error: invalid migration signature".
Tomorrow I can create a version without the migration certificate to see if it can be successfully installed on 2.04 and 2.5. It's "interesting" that the other versions of the runtime do not fail on this condition.
Here are details from the log:
Here is the log with AIR 1.5 (install Adobe AIR 3.6 (required) is checked and displayed: INSTALL OK

  • Some Java applets do not work after silent installation, solved by toggling "Enable Java content in the browser" - Why?

We have about 1,800 workstations running Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit) running various versions of the Java JRE from 6 update 32 through 7 update 51.  Most are on 6 update 45.  We would like to standardize on Java 7 update 51 (32-bit) and get everyone updated to that version for security reasons.
For the past two weeks, we have been having trouble with our installation pre-pilot.  What we are seeing is that our procedure successfully closes any open Internet Explorer windows and Java-related processes, uninstalls all old versions of the Java JRE, and then claims to have successfully installed Java 7 update 51.  The Java Control panel works.  We can even take Internet Explorer to Verify Java Version or Java Tester - What Version of Java Are You Running? and confirm that the Java applets on those sites are loading (though the latter only works after adding the site to the exceptions site list); however, when testers try to access our Kronos Workforce Central 6.3.10 system, the Java applets used by that system do not load.
We have tried the following things, none of which worked:
Clear Internet Explorer browser cache and cookies.
    Clear the local Java cache.
    Reboot the computer.
Reset Internet Explorer settings, including personal settings.
The one thing which does work is going into the Java Control Panel, going to the Security tab, unchecking "Enable Java content in the browser", pressing Apply, pressing OK on the pop-up window, checking the "Enable Java content in the browser" box again, pressing OK, pressing OK on the pop-up window, and then restarting Internet Explorer.  It is only after this point that all Java applets, including the ones used by Kronos Workforce Central 6.3.10, work.
What I need to know is how I can automate the procedure of reinitializing the "Enable Java content in the browser" checkbox after installation or am I doing something wrong or missing a step in the automated installation that is causing this to happen?
We are using Microsoft SCCM 2007 R3 to accomplish this upgrade, and everything is being run on the client machine using the SYSTEM account.  First, the PowerShell script "javaclean.ps1" is run, with part of the command-line process changing the PowerShell script execution policy to Bypass.  This script handles the closing of Java-dependent applications and Java processes and uninstalls old Java versions.

Help on this issue would be much appreciated!

It turns out that this is actually a problem with Kronos Workforce Central.  We had the "site.java.plugin.CLSID.familyVersion" setting in that application set to "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA", which is the Java CLSID for Java 6.  After updating this value to "clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" (the Java universal CLSID), this problem did not occur upon the automatic upgrade of Java.
We have both Java 6 and Java 7 in our environment, and did during our Kronos implementation, so I don't know why we were using the Java 6 CLSID in the first place.
    Case closed!

  • Pinch and zoom on HTML5 content

Is there a way to pinch and zoom on HTML5 content in a mobile web browser? I published my course as scaleable content, so it fits my phone's screen, but it's small and I'd like to be able to zoom in to parts of the screenshots.

    To clarify:
You CANNOT pinch and zoom on the mail menus or the mail messages list. You CAN pinch and zoom if an email message is open on the email text itself just as you would on a Safari website page.
This is true for both the iPhone and iPad.

  • AIR 3.0 bug with native menu?

    Hi
I'm working on HTML/JS AIR application.
App loads native menu from XML, which is accessed from application using nativeWindow.menu.  It worked OK in 2.7 and earlier, but recently  AIR runtime was updated to 3.0 version and now nativeWindow.menu==null all the time (Mac OS). Could you take a look at this problem please?
BTW, I've another problem with menu on Mac OS (... but no such problem in OS Windws). Menu I created, which is loaded from XML, contains "File" and "Edit" items, but Mac OS creates another "File" and "Edit"  items in menu, so Application has 2 duplicated items in menu with different content - first one contains default OS items, but the second - items I'm adding from XML. Could you tell me how can I fix this please? Did I mii something?
    Thanks in advance

Sorry guys, this wasn't a bug in AIR.
It's just necessary to check whether menu  is supported by nativeWindow or nativeApplication, instead of trying to access menu from nativeWindow all the time.
For OS windows -  nativeWindow, but for Mac - nativeApplication.

  • Sudo: /Volumes/Adobe AIR/Adobe AIR Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe AIR Installer: command not fou

This is what comes up when I am trying to install Adobe AIR on my Mac OS 10.8.5 with Cricut Craft Room in the terminal.

    Hi Chris,
I've been reading and trying everything!  Ok so this is what I had on my Mac:
    Bamboo
    Core Essentials Painter 4
    Cricut Craft room
    * will be adding Adobe Photoshop Essentials 11 next month also.
When I tried install the Cricut Sync (to sync my Gypsy to the Mac) that's when it asked for Adobe AIR installation.  I can see the AIR installer in my applications/utilities, but it will not let me run the program.
    Here is the installer log:

  • Java and native browser communication

    Hello all,
I am working on a project that parses an HTML document and retrieves specified data. This module of the app is complete. The app can easily read a URL specified by the user, but the contents of some URLs will of course be different when viewed through a browser due to cookies etc.
Thus, I am trying to access the same HTML doc that a native browser is displaying (ie the same data that is shown upon "view source"). Does anyone know of a way to do this? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Chuck!
I presently have a similar implementation which reads the HTML at a URL just fine. However, I essentially want to synchronize my app with the actual HTML that is displayed in a native browser. The reasoning behind this is that the browser will of course do redirects, automatic logins etc. at certain URLs due to cookies and such. It is impractical to attempt to mimick these actions in my app and hope to get the same HTML that the native browser is displaying, so instead I am trying to access the same data. Any thoughts?Okay. So you know what has to be done. If your question is then how to hack into the browser instead, and get it to disgorge its data, good luck to you. It isn't really impractical to handle cookies and redirects and basic authentication logins, though. After researching, I think the best thing to do will be to just embed a fully functional browser in my app using JDIC or a similar technology. Microsoft and Mozilla provide embeddable versions of their browsers. Because you're right, I would essentially have to hack a browser to access that data.

  • DRM for the contents in the browser

I am considering to use FMS for our video conents and also
want to adopt FMRMS for the DRM. Then what I got from the site is
that FMRMS is just supporting AMP and AIR applications. So then
what about the contents in the browser?

  • Using JDIC Native Browser with JavaHelp System

    Hi,
I am using the native browser provided by the JDIC 0.9.1 on Windows XP as the content viewer for my JavaHelp System. I invoke the IeEmbed.exe and have problems dealing with the URL.
    In my map.jhm, I wrote :
    <map version="1.0">
    <mapID target="about_help" url="topics/abouthelp.html" />
It seems that the IE native browser can't find the url I indicate because when I run the JavaHelp, I get the page saying this page can not be found. Therefore, I change the map file to be :
    <mapID target="about_help" url="file:///C:/topics/abouthelp.html" /> which uses the local file:// URL.
For testing, it's ok to do that, but in practice, I want to be able to use the relative url so that the help can be packaged in jar with the application.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Is there any way the IE native browser can retrieve the file without specifying the local file:// URL.
Thank you so much for any pointers!
    Bee

    Hi,
actually I have the same issue but no solution yet. However, in addition I have the following issues, even when using JDIC 0.9.1 in combination with JavaHelp 2.0_02:
    1. The back and forward buttons in the hsviewer don't work when using absolute URLs like "http://..." in the *.jhm file.
Only when selecting pages from the TOC or Index the history seems to work
    2. Resizing of the jdic browser pane in the hsviewer doesn't always work. E.g. when enlarging the hsviewer to full size and reduzing it again, no scrollbars are displayed so only parts of the contents are displayed. Could find out how to recover from that, only restarting the hsviewer works (or expanding again to full size).
Would be nice if somebody else could confirm that issue.
I also had the idea to submit the issue but I'm not sure if it's a JavaHelp or jdic issue. Unfortuantely the development for JavaHelp seems to be stopped, since there are no new versions or bugfix releases available for quite some time.
    Regards,
    Andreas

  • The native browser in N9 is not good

The native browser, or name it Nokia browser, is quite hard to use when surfering, I want to install 3rd application to solve this issue, who can tell me where I can find one more handy browser for my N9?

    @doublemouse
As your N9 runs open source OS there is nothing to stop you installing either Fennec/Firefox or Opera browser, but there is a fuzzy line where it ceases to be an obligation for Nokia to support you if application not offered in Nokia Store.

  • Native Browser Support

    Hi
I have successfully setup JavaHelp 2.0 to use the JDIC components and render the help through the Native Browser.
However, I still have an issue with the links refereneced through the JavaHelp MAP file.
Currently Internet Explorer is unable to retrieve any of the links, unless an actual file location, rather than a virtual location is specified.
I there any way of initialising the HelpSet file, so that the Map does not have to contain physical (local) file locations?

    Hi MarcLudwig,
I need small help from you.Really it helps me a lot.
How to use the JDIC components and render the help through the Native Browser?
How to integrate these in to our applications?
    How to get DefaultContentViewer?
How to set these native browser?
Please help for this questions. It helps me a lot.
    TIA

  • Nokia 701 Native browser. Phone scroll : memory fu...

    Hello,
Have somebody have the "Phone scroll : memory full, close some app" when browsing with native browser? I always receive this error message when i use more that 1 tabs, or if i only use 1 tab, i open heavy page (just like touch.facebook.com, try to scroll down for long time)
I already close all program in background, i even use third party app to close the hidden program, but this issue persist.
Does anyone know the solution of this?
I use nokia 701, with the latest FW (Belle FP1)
    Thanks.

    Hi Fikri_A_R,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
This can be resolved with a hard reset and software update. Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and make a back up via Tools > Back up. Make sure not to tick the Settings box.
Disconnect the phone from Nokia Suite when you have created the back up and enter *#7370# into your phone, the default security code is 12345 unless you have changed this code yourself.
Now reconnect with Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow where an update will be listed. If no update is shown please reinstall the current software, this option will be displayed in blue. Once the phone has rebooted, go to Tools > Restore to restore the back up onto your phone.
This should resolve the issue, please keep me updated on your progress.
