AirPort Extreme doesn't detect Xbox 360 via Ethernet Cable

Apple replaced my Airport Extreme a couple of days ago due to a power surge, but since then I've verified that everything else works just fine.  My Airport extreme won't work with my Xbox 360!  I have verified all the cables work, I have plugged the ethernet cable directly into the modem and the xbox will connect, but when I plug the ethernet cable into the airport it won't work.  I have tested all of the ports on the Airport and they work perfectly.  It's as if the Airport isn't giving the ethernet cable enough power to get to the xbox or something.  I'm very confused...  It has worked just fine in the past.  Has anyone experience anything even close to this or know how to fix it?

If  you have a cable modem, it needs a complete reset.
Push the reset button and power it down
Pulll the battery if it is easily accessible
Power down everything else on the network...all devices...order is not important
Wait at least 15 minutes
Power up the modem first and let it run 2-3 minutes by itself
Power up the AEBS and let it run 2-3 minutes
Power up each device and let it run a minute or so before you power up the next device.
If you have a DSL modem, power everything on the network down and wait a few minutes, then power up in sequence as above.

  • Airport Extreme (2009) USB disk & Xbox 360?

    Hi all
Does anybody know if an Xbox 360 should be able to see the a USB Airport Disk over the wireless network?
Setup is as follows; Xbox 360 connecting to Airport extreme over 5GHz 802.11a using genuine MS Xbox wireless adapter. Connects to Live just fine. Open NAT. Streams media from connected Vista shared folders and also Media Centre.
I have connected an external USB drive (Tried as both HFS+ & Fat32 format) to the Airport Extreme. All PC's on the network wired & wireless can access the shared files. Xbox 360 cannot see the external drive over the network no matter what. Have tried connecting via guest network with no security. Drive is seen just fine plugged directly into the Xbox via USB. Am I wasting my time?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cameron

I'm gonna have to bump as well as I've been looking into this setup (Airport Extreme with USB Attached Hard Drive formatted HFS+ & Xbox 360). I've done many searches on these two products working together and no solution yet. I've read of other (non Apple) routers having a third party software allowing xbox 360 to see usb attached NAS.. Hoping Airport Extreme can provide this solution instead

  • Airport Extreme 802.11n and XBox 360 Disonnects

I've been using the Airport Xtreme 802.11n for about a week now and have been frequently disconnected from Xbox live on my xbox 360. The NAT is open and I'm directly connected to the router via an ethernet cable. I've given the 360 a static IP address and have forwarded ports 88 and 3074. The disconnects have happened both while in the middle of a online game and while I'm just on the Dashboard. Does anyone have any suggestions or is anyone else experiencing this. Please Help! It's extremely frustrating!

I have been having this problem as well. It says the server timed out, then my AEBS starts flashing yellow. Sometimes it goes back to green on its own, then other times I have to open up the airport setup. Oddly mine happens the same time every night, give or take 5 minutes.
For more info on my setup: XBOX360 wired to the AEBS, connected to a Motorola modem. At&t DSL is my ISP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • NEED HELP! Connecting Airport Extreme wirelessly to an Xbox 360!

    Hi there,
I just purchased an Apple Airport Extreme 3 days ago and I can't get it to fully work with my XBox 360 with the official wirelessly networking adapter. I've spent the last 2 days trying every conceivable option and setup to get these devices to work.... but can't. When I turn on my Xbox it DOES connect to Xbox Live and the wireless network created by the airport. I do the "Test Xbox Live" thing, and everything comes back "Confirmed" or "Okay", I can search marketplace and download game demos and such. But whenever I go to play a game on Xbox Live it say it "can't connect to server" or "no games found" etc.... I've tried this with 4 games; Halo 3, Halo 2, Gears of War, and Call of Duty 3 - and I can't play on Xbox Live with any of them. They did work fine like 10 days ago on an old D-link router I had before it broke, but now I have NO IDEA what the ** is going on. I've tried everything - I've set the router to b/g only, turned off all security, manually set the IP address on the xbox, etc... and I still can't play any games on live. I know my Xbox live subscription is still good and I've downloaded all the latest updates and firmware for my Xbox, router, and computer - and still nothing works. So any help out there would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    John

Hello John Groshko. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, the AirPorts are not listed as Xbox Live-compatible routers.
The following web blog does a great job explaining the NAT issues with Xbox Live. Basically what it comes down to is that although you can get an Internet connection for the Xbox or Xbox 360 with the AirPorts, you may not get the necessary NAT setting (Moderate or Open) for the Xbox Live game that you want to play.

  • Airport Extreme Base Station and XBOX 360 Compatability?

    Hi There,
I'm looking for some advice please.
I have just ordered a AEBS as I have been told that the Belkin N1 wireless router that I bought last week is incompatable with my macbook. I have read reports that the AEBS doesn't connect with the XBOX 360. These reports were from a while ago. Does anybody know if this has been sorted on the versions shipping now?
    Thanks

What you mean the router is incompatible? Is supposed to work regardless of the brand.Apple uses "n" at the 5ghz frequency (ala "a").Everybody else uses 2.4 ghz.and still you can connect because is b and g frequencies.
I don't know if the n speeds can be accomplished at 2.4 ghz.A friend has alinksys draft n router and I connected fine.
Regarding theABSE & 360: if it is the "n" one you can use it with xbox live I'm using it plugged to the base station.I resetted my network settings in the 360 and it worked after that(before I couldn't go online).

  • Airport Extreme doesn't detect Netgear -I'm new

I'm so totally new to Macs and I ended up with 2 of them. My Macbook (new) detects our Century-tel wireless signal from the Netgear hub just fine. But the G5 I inherited can't connect. Here's what I know: the G5 is a Panther; has airport extreme, don't know which v. but I see 802.1x. It says airport is on, but I can't connnect to anything. Is there place I can go for easy set-up instructions? I mean EASY - I don't understand any of the terminology. I'm not sure which OSX I have, either. Sorry, and please help.-lcstock

  • Airport Extreme Base Station and Xbox 360

Can someone please help me figure out why every time I turn on my xbox 360 I have to sign-out of my profile and run the connection test? It always works fine and I can sign in to Xbox Live after that, it just requires me to go through two extra steps whereas it usually signs right in. HELP! Thanks in advance.

so, what did you do to fix it?
simply for the fact that if I hook up my old linksys (which I don't want to HAVE to do) I no longer experience the problem, I can't agree that the problem is the 360. I could agree that neither MS nor Apple designed one with the other in mind and that could be the problem I guess, if no one can help, guess I will just hook that nasty linksys back up.

  • Time Capsule & Xbox 360 via ethernet

    Hi
I have a Time Capsule connected to my modem wireless, I can access the internet over WiFi on my mac without issues.
When I connect my Xbox 360 to the router via ethernet it will not allow me to connect to Xbox live.
According to some forums people are able to connect their TC with XBOX 360. I can connect to xbox live if I directly plug it into my modem, so it is not anything to do with XBOX itself.
Does anybody has experience with that stuff?
Thank you in advance for any help!
    Flo

    Are you sure?
I am able to connect my XBOX with my wireless router. That works very good.
But I am not able to realise a connection between my XBOX 360 and my TC. So probably I have to change some configurations on my TC, right? Maybe it is a problem with my IP or DHCP configurations? I have the same problems with my Media Player ASUS O!Play HDP-R1. With wireless router I can connect the media player via ethernet to the internet but it does not work with Time Capsule.
I am really frustrated. I don't get it.

Trying to connect my xbox to the airport express. Have wireless in home and do not have a ethernet point behind tv/xbox. How do I configure the airport express to connect to my wireless network and then the airport express can use its connection via ethernet to connect the xbox to the internet.

Is your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) a 802.11n model? If it is, you can reconfigure it as a wireless Ethernet bridge or ProxySTA. This would allow the AX to join another wireless network and have its Ethernet port enabled for wired clients, like the Xbox 360.
To activate ProxySTA, you must set up the Express to join a wireless network and then enable the Allow Ethernet Clients setting; both settings are located in the Wireless tab of AirPort Utility.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't wirelessly connect to internet unless a wired connection exists

I have a 5-6 year old Airport Extreme that has started acting up. I have 5-6 devices (ipods/ipad/imac/windows pc) that normally don't have a problem connecting to the extreme wirelessly & have an xbox 360 connected via cable. Just recently I've found that none of my wireless devices can connect to the internet without the xbox 360 being turned on & signed into the internet ... the xbox doesn't seem to have any connection issues at all through the cabled connection. I hadn't updated the firmware or made changes to my network before this started, I just applied the latest firmware update to the extreme but it didn't solve anything. I've searched for solutions elsewhere but really couldn't find any solutions.
Any hints or is it time to retire this admittedly aged router?

If you have the HP 2605dn printer attached to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) (or any router) by Ethernet, then the AEBSn is NOT performing as a Print Server. Instead, the printer itself would have to be configured to provide this service.
I don't have this particular printer, but I do have a network-ready HP Officejet model that I have my network clients (Macs, PCs, & even Linux) connect to. The key is either using the unit's interfact panel to configure the appropriate network settings specific for your network.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't see ethernet ADSL router

I'm having a problem trying to connect my new Airport Extreme base station to a one port ethernet conexant adsl router. It simply doesn't see that the router exists.
The way I have it setup at the moment is the router distributes an IP address to the airport and the airport distrubutes IP addresses to wireless devices. At least that's what's supposed to happen.
I have an Airport Express connected to the router and that works fine. Connects no problem on its default settings. The Airport Extreme however doesn't connect with its default settings.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? Is it possible the Airport Extreme just doesn't work? I've connected the Airport Extreme to my laptop via the WAN port to set it up and that worked Ok so as far as I can tell the WAN port works fine as does connecting wirelessly. The two just don't talk to each other.

    Try the following ...
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)

I now wish to add a second Airport extreme but am considering a hard wire connection with 100 ft of cat 6 cable from the Time capsule to the second Airport extreme.
    Excellent plan.
Can my network operate properly to extend the network with both a wireless and wired extend functionallity?
Yes, but don't get confused about the second AirPort Extreme, as it would not be configured to "extend" a wireless network.....it would be configured to "create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, security settings and password as the Time Capsule network. Configure the second Extreme in Bridge Mode.
This Apple support document will show you how to hookup and configure the second AirPort Extreme:

I have a 3rd party hard drive with movies on it ,it is connected to my airport extreme. The AE is connected to my tv via ethernet cable. Can I stream my movies to the Tv ?

    Not without a player..
The AE is a dumb file server.. the hard disk you plug in is an even dumber hard disk.
There are no smarts in this setup.. not even DLNA. So the TV would have to be an extremely smart one to read raw files on a network drive.. none do that I know of.
A solution is WD live TV.. it can read files from just about any file source on network and play them to the TV.
Nothing apple makes will do that.. ATV is a streamer not a media player. Everything in the Apple world is tied up with itunes. So you must have a computer running itunes to use it.
You can download a more generic player for ipad, and put that as part of the network.. but you still need ATV to display the video.

Different names for the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks are optional, but can be convenient for you to distinguish one from another. It's up to you.
