Airport intermittent connect error

I have a macbook running 10.4.11 with built-in airport. I am having an intermittent problem connecting to my home airport extreme network. When I select my home network, I get an popup screen that says there was an error connecting to the network. Here are the facts:
-home network is running other wireless computers and TIVOs with no problems. I was having the same problems with a airport snow that I replaced with my current airport extreme.
-Macbook works on other networks with no problems. Even when I can't connect with my home network, I can connect with my neighbors network.
-When I have difficulty connecting to my home network, some strange network names appear above my home network name on the airport pull down list on the macbook, sometime two different ones. The names are different every time and look like this: 05B401955766
-I have deleted the airport preferences, but a new file has not been created.
-Sometimes I can get it to connect when I turn off the macbook airport and then turning it back on.
-Usually the problems with connecting occur when I wake the computer up.
-I have deleted the password for the wireless network from my keychain and reentered it on the next login.
Thanks for any ideas you can come up with to help out.

  • Airport Express Connection error -3256

I am unable to connect to the airport express via iTunes and get error-3256. Then iTunes will hang and I have to force quit. This problem only appeared with the Itunes 8.2 update. Any ideas on how I can find out what the error code means or downgrade to iTunes 8.1
    Thanks

Sorry, I should've posted this in the iTunes Discussion forum. I had 'Hear' application running in the background, when I exited that iTunes can now connect to Express Station.

  • Intermittent Connection Error

    Hi Cleaver Folks
I have a strange problem. At home, my parents and my inlaws I have no problems connecting to the various wifi routers. However at work I cannot connect to either of the wifi routers we are running. The networks show up connect, then disconnect, disappear totally and then reappear connect and do the same before totally disappearing all together? N e ideas? I know there is no problem with the Mac itself. The two routers are Netgear. To make matters worse all the PC's in the building can connect to both with zero problems. Is there an Apple Setting i'm missing or have our IT department not activated something to allow me through?

You must of course set the exact correct type of encryption, exact same network name and password. It's probably unlikely that they're using WPA2 as you're probably used to using. Try WPA, if that's not it, then go down to WEP.
Actually, it's probably just easier to ask someone who would know the answer to which type of encryption is being used.

  • How do I set up my Airport Express to my Viasat modem, which requires a DHCP connection, without getting a double NAT connection error?

I have an Airport Express connected to a Viasat 4100 satellite modem. This requires a DHCP connection and is connected to my Airport Express by Ethernet. I then have three computers (two running Mavericks and one running Lion) and two IPhone 5s and an Apple Tv on the network. If the Airport Express is set to DHCP and NAT then the network works and I have internet, but the amber light flashes and I have a double NAT error. If I use it in Bridge mode the airport express goes green but I have no internet. How can I set it up so it works properly? If anyone knows could they please give all the settings I shoud use on the Airport Express as I may have left incorrect setting on it whilst trying to fix the problem. I have checked and it has been confirmed that I cannot change any settings on the satellite modem.

Go into AirPort Utility, click on the AirPort Express, and click on the "Double-NAT" error. Click Ignore. There's nothing that can be done about the Double-Nat unless you ignore it (no harm) or contact your ISP and get them to change your Modem/Router into Bridge Mode, and even then can't guarantee that you won't get that error.
Again, best thing to do: Ignore the Double-Nat Error.

  • Airport Utility Disables Wireless Connection - No Connectivity Error

In setting up an AX to stream iTunes to my stereo over my existing wireless network (Netgear access point), it appears that the Airport Utility has somehow disabled wireless access for my laptop, as I now get a "limited or no connectivity" error message and cannot connect to the internet.
Airport Utility detected the AX, I set a password for it, directed it to join my wireless network, selected WPA2 encryption and entered the 26-character key to the network. AU then said the AX couldn't join the network, and wireless connectivity for the whole PC disappeared and I haven't been able to get it back.
It appears that Airport Utility somehow altered some of the network settings on my PC but I can't figure out what. I spent hours trying to figure this out last night and am at a loss. Help!

Welcome to the discussion area, mrdowntown!
When you are setting up the AirPort Express, you are using a default network provided by the Express with a name like +Apple Network xxxxxx+. You need to be on this network to be able to configure the device. Your computer was on this network.
Chances are, your PC may still be trying to access that network, and not the network that you normally use. See if that might be the case.
WPA2 Security would be used on the AirPort Express if that is exactly the setting the Netgear router is using. If the Netgear is using WPA type encryption, try the WPA/WPA Personal setting on the AirPort Express.
Unless the security settings match up exactly, the Express will not be able to join the Netgear wireless network correctly. See if you can find the settings page for the Netgear to see exactly what type of security it is using.
You'll need to "hard reset" the Express by holding in the reset button until you see the amber light begin to flash more quickly. Then try to reconfigure the Express. Unfortunately, if you don't have the right settings entered on the Express, you'll have to start all over again.

  • Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme but error says Ethernet unplugged.

Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme and error says Ethernet Unplugged.

So, AirPort Utility running on the Windows Vista desktop can "see" the AirPort Extreme and displays its icon, but gives that error message at some point in the setup process? How far does it get?
Other questions that may help me (or somebody else) understand your problem better:
Which of the pieces were verified as working before the introduction of the AirPort Extreme?
Did you have the desktop computer attached to the Verizon GT704WGB with one of the Ethernet cables you are now trying to use? Which one? Have you tried the other one to be sure it also works?
Are you using the same port on the GT704WGB? Have you tried another one?
If the desktop has multiple ethernet ports, are you using the same one?
Had you done any special configuration of the ethernet port on the Verizon GT704WGB to get it to work with your desktop?
What category ethernet cable are you using? 3? 5? 5e? 6?

  • DNS errors + Intermittent Connectivity Help

For the last 5 days my internet has had intermittent connectivity. It is throughout my entire home network of internet access. We have not had any storms or changes to our settings or connections for it to be anything on our network. This issue also happened in the past. Then after X amount of days, it was magically be fixed. When the internet does work, there are no issues and it works fine, which again makes me think it is not on our end and it is Verizon's fault.
When I check the system log of my modem, it has a TON of "DNS request timeouts" or errors saying some other stuff about DNS issues.
My modem/router is Actiontec GT704-WG, I also don't use Wireless internet which is usually related to intermittent connections but that shouldn't be the case.
So is this an issue with Verizon's lines/ servers / connections? Or is it actually something wrong with my network?

It is probably a network issue, but the first step is usually to rule out the local equipment, so restarting the PC and the modem/router is a good starting point.
I have yet to come to encounter an ISP that competently manages their DNS equipment, and you will find a number of Verizon Techs who post here who will tell you to change from the Verizon automatically assigned DNS's to Open DNS.
visit www.opendns.com for detail instructions on how to do so. I changed to open DNS months ago.
So if you still have a problem after you have rebooted the equipment, and changed to OpenDNS, it is almost certainly a Verizon network issue, although convincing Verizon of that can be quite challenging.
    Good luck

  • Airport Express listed in Itunes, but can't connect  (error -6753)

I had to reset my router (Linksys) and Airport Express yesterday. Everything is reconfigured, with one exception. I have a green light on my AE and itunes lists it in the speaker selection bar, but it can't connect. I also cannot connect to the AE using the admin tool. The admin tool lists the AE, prompts me for the password then fails. In both cases (itunes and admin tool) error -6753 is reported.
    Any ideas?

I can connect directly to Airport Express and stream via itunes. When I configure the Airport to connect to my new Dlink modem/router, the Airport light goes green, I can see it in iTunes as an option to select but when I select it, the "connecting to Airport.." box appears but it doesn't connect. I don't get an error message.
I've also tried configuring with no network security on the router but this had the same effect.
I'm having the EXACT same problem as nick.
I spent some time talking with support about this and basically concluded that it was an issue with the router (D-Link DIR-625). However, I've exhausted efforts with opening ports and even put the airport in the DMZ...still nothing. I'm hoping someone has some new info on this that doesn't involve a new router or rearranging equipment throughout the house

  • Original Airport Card: Intermittent connection to internet

I have a wireless (netgear router) home network that has been running fine for over a year. Two dell laptops and Two iMac computers connect wirelessly w/o problems. Last week the iMac (original G4 FlatPanel) with airport card located in the basement start dropping the network (no network detected). All other machines still work fine. The laptop taken into the basement work fine.
The original iMac shows the airport power "on" but no network to connect to? Laptop show network and good signal strength. Next time I check the iMac, its connected with excellent signal. Next time....gone! This has been ongoing on for over a week now. As of late it's see no networks (there's 3 in my neighborhoos - mine and 2 others)
Is it interference? Faulty Airport card? Gremlins?
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you move the G4, having the problem, to another location nearer your router does it still exhibit these problems? You mentioned that if you tried with one of your Dell laptops, at the same location as the G4, it's working fine...correct?
I'm leaning toward your AirPort card in the G4 is failing vs. interference as the cause of your intermittent connections.

  • Download Server Connection Error

I tried updating my desktop skype because it was being cruddy, but the updates wouldn't go through because of a "download server connection error." My friend suggested that I delete my old skype and reinstall it, but when I tried to do so, the same message popped up and offered a link to a supposed "solution." But when I clicked on it, it simply sent me back to the original page in a never ending loop of downloading failures. I looked up what to do, and it seems I'm not the only one with this problem. Others seemed to been having success when sent this link http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.4.0.102.msi however, went to check it out, the page was deleted so I had no options. So now I'm stuck, and unable to download any program due to this error, which I have no idea what it is or how it's caused. If I could have some assistance ASAP, that would be great! I want my desktop skype back so I can share screens and see my friend while using my desktop. Thank you for your time, Chrissy.

On my computer and Internet connection it says it will download the file in 18 seconds but it downloads it in about 8 seconds.   I downloaded 3 copies in less than 30 seconds all over wireless.   If you are having issues downloading it you probably have a slow or intermittent Internet connection.  If you are going wireless try to move closer to your wireless router or go wired.

  • Airport is connected to my wireless network, but can't connect to internet

I'm a first time mac user. Earlier today our power went out, and when it came back on, our wireless router reset. We currently have 4 computers that we connect to the internet; 2 of them are Macs, 2 of them are PCS. Both of the PCs are connected to the internet with no problems, but both of the macs refuse. I've run diagnostics on both computers, and it says it can't find an error. I've contacted my provider, and my internet service is not the problem.
It keeps saying that AirPort is connected to the wireless router (my wireless router), but cannot connect to the internet. I've been trying to fix this for over 3 hours now. I work nights, and need my computers for work, so as it sands i'm currently losing money over this Can anyone help please?

    Welcome!
Can you clarify what model iMacs you have? This forum is for the older G4 iMAcs with the articulated monitor and a hemispherical base. However, due to poor forum labeling, many people with newer iMacs are lured to this area. Reset procedures may vary with model so it's important we know which variant you have. Use "About the Mac" in the Apple menu to find your processor type--that should be enough for now.
Once you you figure out the processor type, append it to the equipment info in you profile, Example: it now says "iMac." If you find yours has a G5 processor, change it to read "iMac G5." That will save you a lot of keystrokes down the road.

  • Intermittent access errors 53/5400/5401 - SCCM 2012 r2 Outbox to Inboxes copy - MP File Dispatch Manager

    Hi,
We're having intermittent problems where one of our management points, we'll call it serverB tries to copy files from its outbox to our primary site server's (ServerA) inboxes folder.  It usually seems to work, but also fairly often throws a message
ID 5400 - can not connect (Error 53, the network path was not found) , followed by 5401 - cannot copy files.  It's not enough to put the SMS_MP_FILE_DISPATCH_MANAGER component in an error status, but it does show a warning. sometimes it will fail
on one outbox item, sometimes several.  the status of the component changes to "Online" shortly after it fails, and sometimes to "OK" around midnight that same night. and sometimes to "Online" before it runs again whether
    it fails or not.
attempting to manually access this inboxes folder on the primary site server as a local admin or as the domain service account for SCCM results in access denied - the usual UAC block where if you elevate the process it works fine, but non-elevated
it prompts for admin rights.  I don't think it's related, because it's been running fine for several months but wanted to mention that.  Does this seem like a network issue or file/folder access?  Are there other SCCM logs I can look at for
    more details?

    Hi,
Please check the blog below that there are some wrong security settings on some inboxes.

  • Client ADI App File Server Connection error when trying to publish report.

Our users are having intermittent problems when trying to publish reports from their Client ADI process to Excel. They are receiving the error:
"An error occurred while attempting to establish an Applications File Server Connection. There may be a network configuration problem, or the TNS listener may not be running. Nodename:"
The problem is this issue will be present for a user and then for no reason that user will be able to publish reports again. Or several users will get this error and one user will be able to publish reports. The only consistency is when it errors out they get this message. The listener appears to be up and running as well.
We are running 11.5.10.2 and ADI version: 7.2.12
