Airport Snow and Nokia E61

So I am trying to use my Airport Snow with a Nokia E61 with no success. The E61 can see the Airportstation without problem, but as soon as I try to connect to the internet I get a error. I made no security settings on the Airport and it is working because I can use it with my Powerbook. Also I can use the wifi of a neighbor who also has a open wifi so some setting in the Airport is blocking the E61 ... anybody got this working?

Yes you can use the MacBook Pro with the snow (dual Ethernet) AirPort base station (ABS).
The snow ABS is based on 802.11b.
The MacBook Pro has 802.11g built-in.
Since 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b, the MacBook Pro will work with a snow ABS.

  • Airport Snow and new laptop

    Hi,
I got a new MacBook for Christmas. We have a Power G4 in the study that has been connected to the internet via the Airport snow for years. My kids have their own laptops but are away at college so I didn't know this problem existed till I got mine. Anyway, after months of trying to connect to the internet via the airport on my laptop, I am lost. I know it works because the G4 gets internet. The laptops says I am connected via the airport to our network. I get 30 seconds of internet on my laptop and that's it. It stops loading after that. Is my laptop compatible with this older wireless Airport or does my Airport need upgrading? I have tried powering off my modem and Airport and the most internet time I got on my laptop was about 4 hours...maybe. I took my laptop on a business trip and it worked perfectly in the hotel , wirelessly. I am so tired of this, but I don't want to give up on the snow if I don't have to. I have the modem connected to the WAN port. THe Snow is V.4.0.9. I have also tried to change the channel once on the G$ but not sure if I am doing this right. Do I have to change the channel on the laptop too? Do I have to reboot after I do ??? Please help me.

  • SyncML and Nokia E61

I am trying to get our Calender to sync wiht my new Nokia E61. A collegue with a Nokia E60 has no problems syncing, but the E61 just wont do it.
    The ocas_log mentions:

MSG = The output buffer could not be retrieved from the SyncML toolkit
I allready installed all certificates of the server and the CA since i read somewhere that that might be a problem.
    Any help is deeply appriciated

Sorry. Doesn't look like anyone ever answered this.
    My apologies.
The latest 10g sync server does support most of the
newer E-series phones including the E61 and E61i.
Nokia did make some changes in the latest sync client
implementation that caused issues but they have since
    been resolved.Hello.
You say these issues have been resolved but by which side : Nokia or Oracle ?
If Oracle, is it in their latest OCS10g release (10.1.2.4.2 ) ?
    Thanks.

  • I-mate K-JAM and Nokia E61 Help with settings

    Hi,
I used to be able to conect to my works exchange server with my i-mate. I can not seem to get it right with the Nokia. Could view my e-mails and sync my calender with the i-mate.
Settings in the sync function of the i-mate:
    Server configuration
    Server address - [email protected]
This server requires an encrypted (SLL) conection
    User name
    Password
    Domain
This would then uatomatically sync my calender and e-mail
Can one do the same with an Nokia E61?

I have a K-Jam and love the heck out of it!! I've had several HTC products and found that this has been the best yet. No problems. I highly recommend it.
As for getting it setup with my iBook, that's been a bit of a pain. I can't seem to figure out how to dial to GPRS. Did you accomplish this with your 910? If so, how????? I've got the iBook and K-Jam paired, and it sees it as a bluetooth modem, but I can't figure out how to setup my t-mobile. Any comments would be great!
    Thanks,

  • What can I Sync using my Nokia e61 and Isync

    Hi there
Can I only sync contacts and Ical?
I wanted to load some music and some pdf's onto the phone can I do this via the mac, or do I have to use the nokia cable and a PC?
New to the E61 so keen to review what can be done with it and what cant - but dont really want to buy any 3rd party sync tools

Thanks for the clarification; since posting this question I have located a BETA program from Nokia called Nokia Multimedia Transfer
I have used this to transfer music onto the Nokia E61, and enabled that to be used as my ring tone
It seems okay and havent found any issues with it, but being a BETA it is always wise to air caution

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Snow Modem

    Hi there,
I just bought a MacBook Pro, and was using it last night. When I tried to connect to the internet via my Airport Base Station (snow) using its modem (which I always did with my old Titanium PowerBook), I was disappointed to discover that I can't use the Airport menu to get the base station to connect to the internet. Nor can I use the Airport Admin Utility to access the base station. The computer will connect to the base station, but doesn't seem to recognize it beyond that.
I'd really like to know if there's a way I can get my MacBook Pro to recognize the base station properly and let me access the internet. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks!
    Christopher

The new Airport extreme with 802ac wifi WITH the new macbook Air with 802ac, if you have one, runs wifi at blazing speeds.
Have both the new Air and new Airport extreme, and since the limits were removed a couple weeks ago with 10.8.5 update,..... the new macbook Airs over wifi ac with the A.E. are just lightning fast, astonishingly fast.

  • HP JetDirect 170X and Airport Snow - TCP/IP setup?

Let me just say first, I have no experience in this... so I want to add my HP LaserJet 1200 that I just got the HP JetDirect 170X printer server for as a wireless printer routed through my Airport. I have it connected via ethernet to my LAN port in my Airport Snow base station.
My big question is: How do I figure out the IP address for it? HP's support application is OS9 based, and doesn't see my printer in the Apple Share printers. This is the step that HP tells me to go through to get the IP address, but if it can't find the printer, I can't really get to that step.
I have Apple Share on. I have enabled printer sharing. But I can't figure out what IP address to give when I go to add it as a TCP/IP printer in the OSX printer setup utility. For kicks, I gave it the Airport IP address, thinking that's where it needed to look, and added it as a printer, and it seemed to accept that, but I still can't print to it... how long should I wait to see if something comes out? I get the "will retry in 10 seconds..." then "in 20 seconds..." once I send a print job to print.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
dual USB iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Airport Snow

Never mind. I figured it out... I didn't recognize the printer name in the Apple talk list of available printers (it came up as some weird "Carpenters/Caspers" name that I've never seen before and I thought that might be my airport picking up someone else's computer. After figuring that out, following the HP website's instructions worked like a charm when I assigned it a manual IP address.

  • Nokia E61 Date and Time settings

I have Nokia E61, and not sure if I am the only one facing this issue...
Whenever I switch off and switch on the phone. it asks for time and date each time. (I am not removing/touching the battery)
I also have Good client installed and works perfect, only issue is, if I dial out any number it close the GPRS (Data) connection. I checked with my GPRS service provider, they say that its handset feature to have both simultaneously.
Please suggest any help on this.
    Thanks...

    Hello,
I think that you have to set up your current time zone. Check it please. To set it up go to Clock application -> Settings -> Time Zone.

  • Have airport snow (duel) and have switched from DSL to Cable , problems .

Hi all my problem is that since the switch I now use a Moto surfboard 5101 and the activity light just stays blinking both on the snow and on the modem . If I turn the airport off the activity light on the modem stops , plug in the airport and it starts blinking . I can get on the net but this bothers me as it didn't do this when I had DSL with a westell modem . I have uploaded the default software to the airport and that did nothing . There are no other computers using or even turned on . The laptop is turned off and still the activity lights on both are blinking like crazy . Also there is no one leaching my wifi , this all started when I installed the cable modem . Has anyone had this experience ?

It's always a good idea to do a complete power-recycle of all of your network components when making changes.
Try the following, in order, checking for Internet access after each step, or until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the modem, AirPort Base Station (ABS), & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the ABS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, ABS, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the ABS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • Firmware Update and SIP on Nokia E61

I just upgraded my firmware for my Nokia E61 (3.0633.09.04) and since updating, i cannot get internet calls to work. SIP registration works as normal, but attempted internet calls just display number@ipaddress and nothing happens (ie no internet dialing).
i noticed that the internet telephone interface is different on the new firmware. perhaps a different setting is needed?
    help?

sipphone and voipdiscount (via pbxes exchange). i used it just before upgrading no probs. backup just before upgrade, then upgrade, then tested to find no internet call.

  • Airport Snow Network and Ethernet at the same time?

Here's the setup. I've got a new Intel MacMini (10.4.6), G4 Sawtooth (10.3.9), iBook G3 and a Dell all using wireless on the Airport Snow router. I'm in the process of moving files over from the Sawtooth to the Mini. The Sawtooth and the Mini are within 2 feet of each other.
Would I get better file transfer speed with a Ethernet crossover cable between them rather than the wireless network? Can I use the hard wire connection and the wireless connection via the router at the same time?
    Thanks in advance.

Would I get better file transfer speed with a Ethernet crossover cable between them rather than the wireless network?
    Yes
Can I use the hard wire connection and the wireless connection via the router at the same time?
The Mac will use one OR the other if they are both connected.

  • Have an iMac Snow and FlowerPower G3 computers, need airport cards?

I have 2 computers that do not have airport cards, I also have 2 airport Expresses, is there a way to link them as having external cards so I can go wireless with them? or can the cards inside the expresses work inside the G3s?? Or should I buy airport cards? I have an Apple Extreme in my home. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
PS. Thinking of putting my iBook Graphite Clamshell up for sale, any suggestions on the best place to place an ad??

I have had great success using [CraigsList|www.craigslist.org] to buy and sell various things including computers.
Setting up a WDS network just to get two iMacs onto the network is kind of overkill, unless you just can't put them close to the AirPort Extreme and connect directly to it with Ethernet cables.
The problem with buying AirPort cards (and the adapter that the G3 iMac needs to use it) for each computer is that the older AirPort cards are getting increasingly hard to find . Also they are unable to use the more secure WPA encryption, making the network vulnerable to attacks.
    Best of luck.

  • I have an imac OS 10.4.11 and am using Safari 2.0.4. I would like to update this. I have 1 Gb memory. Do I need more memory to update my computer? I would also like to add an airport system and something where I could read word applications.

I have an iMac OS 10.4.11 and am using Safari 2.0.4 I would like to update. I have only original 1 GB memory-do I need more to update?I would also like to add an airport or router and would like to add something where I could open word applications. Is it hopeless?

Thanks. That's a Mid-2007 model with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. You can run any version of Mac OS X on it up to and including Mac OS X Lion, though for Lion you'd need to increase the memory to at least 2GB, something I'd recommend doing anyway; it's inexpensive and often can increase performance. Your iMac can take up to 6GB if RAM; 4GB is probably a good compromise between cost and performance with a 4GB kit costing about $50.00 US from a reliable vendor such as Crucial.
Your system already should have included the Airport wireless networking capability, so all you'd need would be a wireless (WiFi) access point (aka "router" or "base station") and an appropriate Internet connection. Apple's Airport Express and Airport Extreme, and the Time Capsule if you'd like to have a built-in hard drive for backups and extra storage, are good choices for a WiFi access point, but there are a number of other manufacturers.
As to upgrading the operating system, as I said, you can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, or Mac OSX  10.7 Lion (the most recent release).  Apple no longer lists Mac OS X 10.5 on their web site, but if you call the Apple Store you may still be able to purchase a copy. Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is easily available as is Lion though with Lion you'd need the $69.00 USB flash drive installer or you'd need to purchase and install Snow Leopard first (other than on the flash drive, Lion is only available from the Mac App Store which can only be accessed from Mac OS X 10.6.6. or later). Before you decide, I'd strongly suggest you find out what versions of Mac OS X your applications and perpherals will support, either as they or with a free or affordable update. I'd suspect most of your applications and peripheral drivers would need to be upgraded, at least to support Snow Leopard or Lion. If you consider Lion, make sure of your applications; Lion will no longer run PowerPC-only applications, so many older appliations will not run under Lion.
Finally, as to Microsoft Word documents which is what I presume you mean, you can of course just purchase Microsoft Office. There are other ways to work with Word documents, though. If you just need to view Word documents, TextEdit in MOSX 10.6 and 10.7 (and perhaps 10.5; I can't remember) can open and view many Word Documents. For something a bit more capable, you can purchase Apple's Pages, part of the iWork suite and now available separately for Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7, or try one of the open-source solutions such as LibreOffice.
    Regards.

  • New Airport Extreme and Older Airport Express No Longer Works

I recently bought a new Airport Extreme base station.   Now the Airport Express that I've had for a number of years no longer works, flashing amber.  It shows up under the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, but when I try to follow Apple's instructions for configuring it, I get this message:
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support."
I then tried downloading and installing Airport Utility 5.6 on my MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.7.4) and received this error message: "AirPort Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported."
I then turned to my IPad, which also detected the Airport Express under Wi-Fi Settings but returned a message when I tried to set it up that the Airport Express couldn't be set by this software and re-directed me to the support web site.
While we have an Apple TV unit, I used the Airport Express to stream music directly to our stereo from my MacBook and IPad and Phone and would love to be able to continue to do so.  Has anyone found a workaround for this problem, or will I be forced to buy a new Airport Express as well?
Thanks for any help you can offer,
    Steve

I then tried downloading and installing Airport Utility 5.6 on my MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.7.4) and received this error message: "AirPort Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported."
I just tried this on my MacBook Pro running 10.7.4 and had no problems downloading and installing AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
AirPort Utility 5.6.1 will not install on a Mac running Lion....only Snow Leopard or Leopard.
Can you check again to make sure that you are trying to install 5.6 and not 5.6.1?

  • I have a nokia E61 on an orange monthly contract caller ID is not working

Hello all, Yes my trusty old Nokia E61 no longer shows caller ID. When I call a number in my contacts I get the name of the person I am callingText messages have the sender ID attachedIf I put the sim in another phone I get caller IDIf I put the sim from another phone in the E61 I get caller ID SO, today I went and did a sim swapI waited till my current sim lost signal (about 2 hours)I inserted the new simWhen I got home I called my Nokia E61 from my wifes EE iphone and our land line, both gave caller IDI then read and deleted the sms that orange sent me to update the sim and restarted the phone Guess what, no caller ID I called Orange support, they told me everyone on orange has this problem (yeah right I believe that) I am going to do another sim swap tomorrow and I will put the new sim in another phone till I get the message then I will put the new sim in my nokia which should sort it out. Anyone got any amazing ideads about this or can anyone verify Oranges cheesy explanation for the fault??

Hello Karen, Thank you for checking it for me. I did a sim swap on Sunday and it worked fine. I turned off my phone overnight and when I turned it back on in the morning, no caller ID.This fault is obviously something to do with the SIM update texts received after a new SIM is inserted. I put out a question on twitter asking for other orange users to contact me who are suffering this (as I have been told 95% of estate affected) problem. No-one else has it! I have talked to customer services about transferring my contract to an EE sim (contract expires in December) but was told no, I have to pay £170 to get out of the contract. My issue is this; I work in the property business, I have several properties I own and manage. When I miss a call now I get no ID from the caller or call back number. This is costing me money and stress as I keep getting upset tenants having a go at me for 'ignoring' them. I have aslo missed important calls from my financier! I am in a contract witnh Orange where I pay a fee for a service. That service is not being provided to an adequate standard and I will need compensation from Orange for my loss if I cannot transfer to an EE account. I do not want another contract, I do not want a new handset, I just want my basic service so I can conduct my business in a proper manner. Can you send me a link to the orange service contract please. Regards M Butler
