AIX 5.1, WebLogic 5.10 and Clustering

          Hi all,
I'm able to setup IBM_HTTP_SERVER/1.3.26.1 (Apache/1.3.26) as proxy, WebLogic
5.10 clustering on a AIX 5.1 box. Problem is images are not showing up properly
          and I'm getting Javascript errors.
On non-clustered environment, the above configurations work fine.
The questions I have are the following:
          1. Are the above configurations supported? If not, do you think that will work?
          2. Does anyone have the above configurations and got clustering working?
Hoping to hear from you guys soon.
          Thanks !

Thanks gary
Ill be more specific as i did not come here first
the statments that aix 5.1 and 4.3 ldap dont support
rfc 2307 are what worry me, as fitting these clients
into a DS 5.2 setup that works with solaris 8,9,10
and hp-ux using ldapux 4.0 which is rfc2307.
how does this effect those clients.
5.2 is fine as it supports 2307
regards peterOne thing to keep in mind though is that with 5.2, AIX will not perform an ldap bind to authenticate a user, it prefers to bind to the directory server as the administator (i.e. cn=directory manager), and to authenticate, retrieve the user's hashed unix password (in the traditional UNIX crypt format) and check it for itself. You can use an alternate entry for AIX servers to use instead of directory manager, but they essentially need total read/write access to your entire suffix. With 5.3, it's supposed better (though I have not had an opportunity to verify).

  • WebLogic 8.1SP4 and IIS

    Hi,
I want to configure weblogic with IIS and have found enough articles on how to proxy IIS to point to a single instance or a clustered environment but not on how to proxy IIS to multiple WebLogic servers
I have the application running on
    http://<weblogic-server>:7201/elms
    http://<weblogic-server>:7301/elms
    http://<weblogic-server>:7401/elms
and I want to be able to access these via the IIS through these URLs:
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms_sit
    http://<IIS_Server>/elms_uat
Is this configuration possible? Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sandeep

Since you are attempting to proxy by path you need to configure the iisforward.dll as stated in step #3 here:

  • Session Failover and Clustering

Let's say that we have two WebServers (NES) with the weblogic plugin (say WS1 and WS2) and a cluster with two WebLogicCommerce AppServers (say AS1 and AS2). Let's assume that each WebServer and AppServer runs on its own machine (total: 4 machines). Now, let's assume that the WebServer "obj.conf" files (on both WS1 and WS2) are setup so that they point to the servers in the cluster (WebLogicCluster="AS1:7601,AS2:7601").
When a new request comes in to one of the WebServers (say WS1), the plugin will route it to one of the AppServers using Round-Robin (say AS1). A session will now be initiated in AS1 and it sends a response back to the client.
Question 1: How does the other proxy in WS2 know that all future requests for this client need to be forwarded to AS1?
Question 2: For failover, does the cluster automatically replicate the session state existing in AS1 onto AS2 before sending the response (does AS2 automatically become the secondary)?
Now let's assume that AS1 crashes/dies. When the next request from the client comes to WS1 or WS2, they will forward it to AS1 (assuming that WS2 knows about the client session in AS1) . Since AS1 has crashed, will the client eventually get a timeout error message?
Question 3: To ensure that the session failover happens so that AS2 gets the request instead (becomes the primary), do we need to setup a WebLogic Proxy Server? If so, why can't the plugins for NES provide the failover themselves?
Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you very much for your responses. It has been very helpful and I am clear on the session/clustering stuff. I have new questions on EJB and clustering which I will post as a separate thread.

I'll be very glad if someone

Pls note that I've gone thru the latest docs of WLS 6.1

Does Weblogic 6.1 (SP2) clustering work better on Sun Solaris than Windows          2000?
              Yes.
... but that's a misleading answer because Weblogic in general works better
on Sparc/Solaris than on x86/Windows. The clustering implementation is Java,
so the same code runs on both Windows and Solaris, and works well on each.
The benefits that Solaris provides are seen primarily in terms of ability to
handle load more gracefully and in its overall stability -- once you get it
              configured correctly anyway.

  • Rac and clustering setup

    Hi all,
I want to know abt RAC and clustering. Can any one describe me abt these two things.
I got two instances running in 2 AIX machines of size 25 gb each. im zero in this. can any one help me regarding this
first of all i do no what is RAC and Clustering
    Regards
    Elamaran

2 instances (or more) will indeed be reading and writing to the same database files. When one instance fails, the other one takes over. Therefore availability is ensured.
look here fore info on RAC:

  • MDB's and clustered topics

I am running WL 8.1 SP2 in a clustered configuration. I would like to use JMS for
broadcasting message between the 2 nodes in my cluster, and have been trying to
use an MDB subscribed (Nondurable) to a single JMS topic with no success.
I have a single ConnectionFactory for the cluster, and a single migratable JMS
server. The MDB's on each machine are identical, and both attempt to subscribe
to the same Topic. The problem is only one of servers is able to make an active
              connection to JMS.
I've read in previous posts about workarounds to make the clientID unique in order
to get both servers to attach to the JMS topic, is this necessary for NonDurable
              subscriptions?
Can anyone recommend a configuration to broadcast messages to all nodes in my
              cluster?

No. Make sure that you haven't configured a connection-id on the
connection factory you are using for the MDB (or simply don't specify
a CF and use the default one). Make sure all servers
are truly fully participating in the cluster.
If you like, post your EJB and WebLogic descriptor files and
I'll take a quick look. Actually, what would be most helpful
is the log message and exception stack trace of the failing MDB.

  • CF8 on Weblogic 10.0 and Apache

I am trying to configure CF8 as an EAR file on Weblogic 10.0
and configuring it with Apache webserver. The settings for Weblogic
are made as mentioned in the configuration document and CF8 is
    working fine on Weblogic.
Now for Apache connectivity, a connector is configured for
Weblogic which handles *.cfm files requests as well.
    - The CFM files are kept in webserver and when I try to open
a cfm file, the proxy is getting invoked but since Weblogic doesn't
find the file URI it returns 404.
    - Please let me know how can the CFM files kept on Webserver
be rendered using CF8 deployed on Weblogic
Or there is a need for these files to be kept on the Weblogic
    Appserver only

Sure. If you want to put a file example.cfm in a WAR file,
    put it in the
root of the WAR. Your folder structure will look something
    like:
    WAR/
    WAR/example.cfm
    WAR/WEB-INF
    WAR/WEB-INF/web.xml
    WAR/WEB-INF/*
    WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion
    WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/
    etc.
Then if you have a context root "/test" in your
    Application.xml you can
reach your template through the URL
    http://server/test/example.cfm
The best way to get a WAR (or EAR) file for deployment is to
    run the
installer. It has the option to generate a WAR or EAR for
    you. Use that,
then later unjar it to see how it looks internally.

  • Weblogic Bridge "failed and will reconnect later"

The enterprise architecture is as follows:
1 Physical machine where I have 2 VMs on this machine, and each VM I have 1 domain, 1 Cluster and 1 managed server, and the second VM I have the replicated what I have in first VM.
In first domain I have the OSB, in the second domain I have SOA.
What I need ? Send information of queues (topics) of First Domain (OSB) to second domain(SOA).
At first the only thing I did was:
In the first domain I created OSB JMS Server, JMS Module, Connection Factory and Queue Topic.
In the second domain SOA I replied the same thing but with different names.
Then I created the bridge with configuration default between the first domain and the second domain, the bridge and when active it generates me a message Weblogic Bridge "failed and will reconnect later"
I did a test on my local machine windows where I created two domains, and the same procedures you did above, but the point was funcinou been activated now for the enterprise environment I'm not managing to make it work, you could tell me what is wrong . in both cases restarted the weblogic server as the machine itself the question that ran on my machine and machine company no.
If you can give me a light thank.

This is a bug (6973877, derby only) which has been fixed in 4.5 build14 and 4.4u2p1. Thanks for reporting. The problem is the missing "FOR BIT DATA" in LOG_RECORD column in derby table definition MQTMLRJMSBG41 in broker default.properties file

  • Preview Release of WebLogic Portal 9 and Workshop 9

I would like to get my hands on a developer preview release of WebLogic Portal 9 and Workshop 9. I can't seem to find it online so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. We're currently evaluating portal products and I would hate to decide against BEA based on the lack of availability of the forthcoming version.
Anybody know where a developer release of either of these two products can be found?

The Technology Preview for WLP 9.x and WLW 9.x will be available in early December. Please contact your BEA account team to let them know that you are interested.
At present the plan is to have a GroupSpace community site for use by all customers participating in the Technology Preview. A BEA technical field staff member (SE, PS, etc.) assigned to your account will use this site to send you an invitation, and when you join you will have access to the installation. Questions, discussions, etc. for the Technology Preview will all go through the GroupSpace site. If you don't know who your BEA technical account member(s) are, you should find out as they will be the key to obtaining the Technology Preview.
If you can't wait for the Technology Preview, please ask your BEA acount team to contact myself or others in Product Management. We'll be happy to go over the product features, show you demos from current builds, etc.

  • Weblogic 8.1 and Novell LDAP SSL

    Hi Everyone !
I'm having problems enabling SSL between Weblogic 8.1 and Novell LDAP. I have
the non-SSL working. All the BEA documentation I've found indicates that the SSL
Enabled checkbox needs to be checked and that's all. This can't be all because
    I get the following errors.
Does anyone know how to solve this ?
    Thanks,

You need to configure the server SSL to trust the identity certificate it receives
from nastea02.bankofny.com If you want to use the default configuration you could
simply import the CA certificate that issued that identity certificate to the
    DemoTrust.jks keystore.
Also, look at Using Host Name Verification here: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/secmanage/ssl.html#1187786
because this might be another reason why the certificate is rejected.
