AJAX component in ADF 11g

Within the 150+ components I see there are components called inputListOfValues and inputComboboxListofValues where autocompelete functionality can be added to filter the results. As this handles some functionality that I want, it is not desired to go to a popup dialog to search for results to populate that input field. Is there a component that is similar to a google suggest that will be developed in the future? If not, what would be the best way of creating a component with this feature? I want to be able to have it show up in the component palette in JDeveloper and when I drag that component onto a page I can bind it to a data control and pass it a couple of parameters.
I have created components like this using other MVC frameworks and using freemarker templates but haven't found a good way of creating a component like this in ADF.

Hi,
this component is planned for a future release. It can be programmed with a combination of javaScript and managed beans in ADF Faces today. Before you ask, no there is no how-to on this, but I am working with a smart consultant in France who got this working to a large degree. So its just a remaining polish and documentation that needs some time to make it available in ADF

Auto suggest AJAX component for ADF 10g: source code needed

Duncan Mills has posted a very useful article in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/mills/ajaxautosuggest/ajaxautosuggest.html about how to incoroporate an AJAX iput text field that can operate like Google search. This components derives from Sun Java blueprints.

The jar file contains only the class files. Does anybody have the source code so I can amend it to work with UTF-8 charactes?

I have tried it, but when I create a tag library out of the Sun bluprint components, all my ADF pages display an error message that the JSF core tag laibraries are not installed

Frames in ADF 11g

We have a requirement to split the page into 3 parts (basically 3 frames on the page). Frame on the left would contain links to the pages on the right which would be driven by a POV frame at the top. My question is do we have any specific component in ADF 11g to implement basic html frames ( like panelSpiltter) or would it be better to implement the page using basic html frames.
Also, for getting the list of afh components, do we need to add any specific library or have these components been removed in ADF 11g.

They are in the Trinidad set of components - but I would only suggest using those if you can't achieve the layout you are looking for with a combination of the layout components we offer in ADF Faces RC.

ADF 11g Date input

I am using date input component in ADF 11g.
This component let u select only date. but I want the user be able to select date and time as well.
which date component should I drop on page ?

All you have to do to see it in action is give your ADF BC EO date field the type of Timestemp instead of Date, and possibly add a nice format mask under the UI hints like: yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss
But, I do not have Entity Object in my application. ADF page was generated as part of "right click BPEL Human Task ---- Auto generate ADF Task Form".
How do I have time as well in this case ?

ADF 11g - persist users component state to database - af:panelCollection

Hi all
We have a case where we require the state of a component, an af:panelCollection in this instance, to be saved to the database for each user of the application. This data is then retrieved upon application startup when it will be used to set the initial state of the af:panelCollection.
The logic to achieve the above is outlined in the following post:

We have used the above resource to implement the manipulation of the af:panelCollection accordingly but we now wish to persist this data to the database, it is currently hard coded.

Hi,
the next release of JDeveloper 11g (planned for summer) provides MDS, which helps you with a repository based approach for end user personalization. I think that if you can wait then it makes sense to do so instead of implementing functionality on your own that sooner or later you find in the product.
If you can't wait then all you can do is to setup listeners that detect changes (attribute listener work in many cases) and persist the information for the page, component ID and user

JSF Components (Woodstock, Richfaces) Vs. Ajax Component (YUI, JMaki)

Hello. I am pretty new in the Web 2.0 development. I started learning JSF 1.2 and I like it. I also found interesting by using Sun�s Woodstock, JBoss�s Richfaces and Oracle�s ADF components.
There are also so many Ajax libraries out there like JMaki, YUI (Yahoo), DWR. Now my question would be, is there any advantages using pure Ajax component like YUI to create GUI then using Richfaces or ADF? Please keep this in mind that I still want to use JSF architecture for the backend.

Hi Harsha,
you can use <af:exportCollectionActionListener /> component to do that. Set the exportedId property to point to of the table. You have options to export all rows or only selected rows.

We have developed an application in ADF 11g. In this we fetching the tables from the database. When viewed, the size is not appropriate. We need to adjust the width and height of the tables as default.

Hi Shanmukh,
If you wrap your table in a component that stretches its children, your table will be adjusted to fill aviable space.
Try to surround the table with an <af:panelcollection/> or an <af:panelsplitter/> or an <panelStretchLayout/>.
This should work.

Error when invoking worklist api from adf 11g

I added the jar files and I don;t get the exception anymore. I am able to login in as weblogic and the application works fine. When I login in as anyother user I get this error. Where is this pc.properties?

Iframe in adf 11g

Hi,
i am using adf 11g. I wanted to shown BAM reports in my ADF page. I used iframe and displayed the login page of the BAM reports. But logging into the BAM reports jsut refreshes the ADF page. How to access all the BAM pages inside the adf page.

Hi,
if you bind the shuttle to a List<SelectItem> in a managed bean you only need to take entries out of this list. Its a bit more difficult using ADF list bindings unless you are happy to delete the referenced list items from the database. However, ADF bindings also allow you to remove objects from the collection that builds the list. You should be able to access the iterator binding used by the list binding, get the row to remove and remove it from the collection (don't use the remove or delete operations in this case).

ADF -11g : Question on how to create a pivot table

Hi,
I am trying to create a dynamic pivot table (the number of column and row layers change for each request) and I cannot use a data base structure to back it up.
I thought of doing it through a managed bean but in order to do it I need to know how to create the PivotTableModel.
The pivot table model requires a data source object and I do not know how to create it to support multiple row and column layers.
Is there a default data source object that I can extend, or better yet is there a written example on how to create a pivot table model using a managed bean.

ADF 11g Row Selection in a Table with radio button

I need to select one row with a radio button and then take some action on those rows via command buttons.
I need to use a Radio Button and not the table property rowSelection provided with the latest features of ADF 11g.
In ADF 10g you can use tableSelectOne component that missing in 11g. How you can implement that with ADF 11g?

Well, ADF 11g doesn't have that capability, so you have to build it yourself. If don't want to build it yourself, you could use the Trinidad components instead of ADF 11g. If you don't want either of those options, then sorry :)

ADF 11g inheritance problem

Giving a look on ADF 11g model Business Components, I tried to have a generic component A and its extended component B.
A has an id primary key attribute and if i generate a database table it has the PK generated, but B has no PK generated since the extended attribute is marked with the PK property.
I used Jdeveloper 11g 11.1.1.1.0, and built two components from a BC diagram.
Questions,
is it a good practice to have a master generic component with common id version and audit attributes ?
why the pk constraint is not built on database table for extended components ?

The screen goes normal when I place the cursor over the top of the app and I don't get any height=100% on my page.
I noticed that some pages that have the table component on it don't get this bug.
I see the last release and the EL to get the agent detects the IE8 normally but that is some way to port my app to it??
